WINNING IN “YINZER” COUNTRY: THE JASON JOHNSON RACING (JJR) #41 TEAM MAKES A MID-WEEK STOP WITH THE KUBOTA HIGH LIMIT SERIES AT LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY NEAR PITTSBURGH AND IS VICTORIOUS IN THE DON MARTIN MEMORIAL SILVER CUP XXXIV
SARVER, PENNSYLVANIA (July 22, 2025) – With one busy week of racing behind them after Ohio, Carson Macedo and the JJR #41 team stopped in Sarver, Pennsylvania, located north of the city of Pittsburgh, to compete with the Kubota High Limit Racing Series in the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XXXIV to start another busy week in Pennsylvania and ending in New York. The team was not planning on racing, but team owner, Philip Dietz, and the JJR crew were hard at work after arriving in Pennsylvania late Sunday and he made the decision to truck back out to compete. The team used their fourth and final “free pass” of the 2025 season to race in the $25,000-to-win event on the west side of the Keystone State of Pennsylvania. The “Pittsburgers” here are proud of this area’s culture and rather than saying “you all” with their unique accent they simply say “yinz” here, hence the terms “yinzers.” Lernerville Speedway is a beautiful 4/10-mile racetrack that is banked without walls around the turns and down the back straightaway. The sun was out and shining bright with brilliant blue skies in the background as 32 teams were hard at work behind their trailers preparing for the night of racing in Western Pennsylvania.
After hot laps ended, the drivers began to stage for Capital Custom Trailers Time Trials in which each driver would get two laps to evaluate their speed around the fast and racy dirt track. The drivers were split into two Flights – A and B- for tie trials. After drawing the ‘6’ pill, Carson would be the third driver to hit the track surface at Lernerville in Flight A. He was ready to go to work around Lernerville Speedway aboard the Durst Inc./Schoenfeld Headers/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads #41 Maxim. After Brandon Spithaler #32B and Jeremy Weaver #5x completed their laps, Carson did not waste any time lollygagging as he dropped his right foot on the speed button setting the Albaugh – Your Alternative speed machine in motion. When the first lap was recorded for the driver of the forty-one, the clock read 13.279 seconds. There was still some work to do for the Californian speedster as he had one more circuit to see if he could beat the numbers on the clock that he established the first time around. This time when he exited turn four the checkered flag was waving high overhead with the clock stopping at 13.270 seconds. The quicker of Carson’s two timed attempts was lap two. That time positioned him third quick overall on the night in Flight A. Daison Pursley in the Buch Motorsports/Pella Windows #13 was the fastest speed chauffeur in Flight A sitting at the top of the speed charts also earning the Capital Custom Trailers Quick Time overall for the night, too, with a lap of 13.242 seconds. Anthony Macri #39M topped time trials out of the Flight B group with a lap of 13.247 seconds.

With the time trials now done, the horns sounded as race director Mike Hess called for the drivers in the first of four qualifying races to head to the staging lane. The starting lineups for each of the four 8-lap qualifying Heat races were posted and arranged for the drivers in each group based on their best lap time. Carson Macedo would start on the pole TJ Forged Heat Race #1 with Ashton Torgerson #1a to his outside. Row two starters, Justin Peck and Daison Pursley #13, were close behind with Kyle Larson #57 and Brent Marks #19 in row three. The last row found Matt Farnham #7NY and Carl Bowser #11 as the field was ready to go.
Only the top five finishers would transfer into the feature with the Heat race winners and the quickest driver from time trials in each Heat race that transfer getting an opportunity to spin the wheel for their Dash starting position. Carson would stand on the gas in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Factory Kahne Shocks/Sander Engineering #41 Maxim when the green flag waved leading Justin Peck and Ashton Torgerson when the lap ended.
It was hammer down time around Lernerville Speedway until lap 3 when the yellow flag came out for Carl Bowser who slowed on the track. The race slow down bunched up the field again for the restart with Macedo pedaling down again to keep control of the top spot when they got back up to speed. Justin Peck was keeping pace as Kyle Larson was on the move taking the third position away from Torgerson on lap 5.
Carson stayed on the gas to lead wire-to-wire winning by 1.807 seconds over Justin Peck with Kyle Larson, Ashton Torgerson, and Daison Pursley securing the final transfer positions. Macedo and Pursley would move onto the Dash.
When the wheel stopped spinning, Carson would get the Tarlton and Son/Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Team Jack Foundation #41 started from the sixth position in the 6-lap FK Rod Ends Dash. Spencer Bayston #14 and Tanner Thorson #88 paced the field from the front row with Sye Lunch #42 and Anthony Macri #39M in row two. On the inside of Carson in row three was Daison Pursley #13. Behind them was Brandon Spithaler #32B and James McFadden #21 in row four. Tanner Thorson stomped on the gas and took the lead at the start with Bayston in second. Carson cruised around the outside into the third position and immediately started applying pressure on Bayston for an opportunity to start on the front row. To achieve that mission, he would need to get by the JMR/Sander Engineering #14 to claim the runner-up position. He was relentless and with two laps to go gained the spot. Tanner Thorson raced to the Dash victory by 2.577 seconds with Carson Macedo coming home second, Spencer Bayston third, and Sye Lynch fourth. Anthony Macri came home fifth as James McFadden brought the Tarlton and Son #21 home sixth with Daison Pursley and Brandon Spithaler rounding out the finishing order.

The crews finished their work as the drivers were climbing into their high-speed offices for the 35-lap Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XXXIV. After going four wide to say “thank you” to the fans, as well as those tuning in on Flo Racing, the field realigned in their side-by-side formation for the start of the race. At this level of the sport of sprint car racing everything is earned, nothing is gifted – although a little Lady Luck occasionally is always welcomed.
When the front row of Tanner Thorson #88 and Carson Macedo in the Albaugh – Your Alternative/C&R Racing/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim came out of turn four, High Limit announcer Chase Raudman exclaimed over the microphone, “Lernerville Speedway . . . Welcome to the High Limit Room at Lernerville Speedway!” Who would hit the ultimate jackpot?
Carson Macedo took advantage early under green flag conditions taking the lead over Tanner Thorson. He led lap one keeping pace ahead of Thorson and Anthony Macri #39M. The forty-one was out in clean air, but the unobstructed vision got disrupted when the yellow flag came out before the second lap could be completed when Jeremy Weaver’s #5x was off the pace and headed to the work area.
Carson would bring the field back to green flag with Anthony Macri moving into the runner-up spot overtaking Tanner Thorson with Sye Lynch #42 following suit taking the show position from the driver of the Smith TI #88. The leader would record three more laps before the red flag flew for Brent Marks #19 who flipped in turn two after contact with Brenham Crouch #5.
After the accident scene was cleared, the green lights were back on with Carson choosing the inside lane at the Frozen Farmer Choose Cone and driving in front of Macri. They would get another lap recorded before ninth running Kyle Larson #57 spun collecting Brenham Crouch as they were both sitting sideways in turn four. There were still twenty-nine more laps to go as the field paced slowly while Kyle Larson’s crew made repairs in the work area.
The flagman unleashed the green flag again with Carson repeating the last restart with Anthony Macri just off the leader’s right rear Hoosier Racing Tire as Sye Lynch and Tanner Thorson hugged the bottom. Lynch and Thorson move by Macri to retake the second and third spots respectively with Carson still hustling out in front of the pack.
With than ten laps to go, Carson would lead the single file line of cars back to the green flag as they got back up to speed with just nine laps to go. The Californian was low riding using the grip on the bottom to pull back into the lead. Philip Dietz, Robby McQuinn, and Adam Zimmerman gave him a hotrod and Carson was enjoying the ride in Western Pennsylvania. He built his lead and led the remaining distance to take the High Limit Series victory at Lernerville Speedway in the 34th Annual Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup event. It was Carson’s first career Kubota High Limit Series win. His first career win at Lernerville. In addition, Carson Macedo (victorious at Lernerville on July 22, 2025) joined his brother Cole Macedo (winner at Fremont on July 14, 2025) as the first pair of brothers to both win with the Kubota High Limit Racing Series. Pretty darn cool.

From Whiskey Myers Victory Lane, the jubilant driver flashed that smile after getting covered in confetti while celebrating on the wing and stated, “I have been actually pretty average, not very good here in the past. When Phil (Dietz)said he wanted to come he was really confident, I was like man I hope I can figure it out and kinda get it together. Just felt really solid all night.” He continued, “I felt like I missed it just a little bit in time trials running the top, but ultimately we were able to recover, win our Heat race, and really execute in the Dash and then I just felt really good in the feature.” He continued, “A huge hats off to Philip Dietz for pulling the trigger and coming here was obviously a really good idea now. Feels good to win a High Limit race. Never won one. Feels good to put my name on that list.” A great run for Carson Macedo and the forty-one at Lernerville Speedway!
