WHEELING & DEALING: CARSON MACEDO SHOWS OUT WITH AN IMPRESSIVE DRIVE FORWARD AFTER BEING IN THE WORK AREA ON NIGHT TWO OF THE SPRING CLASIC AT I-55 FEDERATED AUTO PARTS RACEWAY PARK TO FINISH IN SIXTH PLACE

PEVELY, MISSOURI (April 11, 2026) – The only thing better than one night of racing at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park is a second consecutive night of entertainment with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. This place is truly a shining gem for the sport of sprint car racing. After wheeling the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 to a runner-up finish on Friday night crossing the finish line behind race winner Buddy Kofoid, Carson and the forty-one team were back at this entertaining and demanding high-banked quarter mile bullring for the finale of the Spring Classic. The sprint car teams were busy working on their cars as they prepared for another wheel banging night in the “Show Me State” of Missouri. With traffic buzzing down Interstate 55 behind the frontstretch grandstands, even with construction going on, these fire breathing 410 cubic inch sprint cars were ready to make those passenger vehicles look slow. There were 37 teams parked again in the pit area located over the hill in turn two and off the back straightaway. It was race day at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park for the final night of the Spring Classic!

As is normal and customary in World of Outlaws competition, competitive action each night commences with each driver getting two laps in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying with the quickest of those laps representing them for the night. With a full field of cars in the pit area again, the drivers would need to stand on the gas as they would time against each other as one group for time trials. Carson would be the 20th car out behind the wheel of the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Ben Cook Race Car Products/Engler Machine & Tool #41 Maxim. When The North Pole Nightmare, Bill Balog, finished his speed adventure in the Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup #17B, the Lemoore, California native stomped on the loud pedal as his Kistler Engines power began to sing. When Carson came off turn four he pedaled down and was now on the clock. He muscled his way through the first set of turns and down the backstretch completing the first circuit in 10.831 seconds. The numbers on the clock restarted to measure his second attempt as he searched for a little more speed. This time when he came out of turn four the black and white checkered cloth was out. This time the clock reported his lap time in 10.815 seconds. Carson’s first lap in time trials was the quicker of the two attempts resulting in him being 9th quick overall with Will Armitage #7A earning the Simpson Quick Time Award making his way around I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway in 10.533 seconds.

After the BNM Auto Body DIRTcar UMP Modifieds finished their Hot Laps the four 10-lap Heat races were on tap for the powerful World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. Carson climbed into his Fibreworks Composites carbon fiber seat as he prepared to get started from the third position in NOS Energy Drink Heat Race #1. He pulled the Durst Inc./BMRS/PWR Advanced Cooling Technology #41 Maxim to the inside of row two sharing the row with Conner Morrell in the Tub O’ Towels #28M. Quick timer Will Armitage driving the High Level/XK Glow/Smith Plumbing #7A and Kasey Jedrzejek #6 earned the top two spots on the front row with Cole Macedo in the TwoC Racing #2c and Riley Goodno #22 in row three. Garet Williamson in the Fischer Motorsports/S and S Insurance #23 and Ryan Timms in the Hampel Oil #10 paired up in row four with Jake Neuma #3N and Brayton Lynch #29 together in the fifth and final row for this qualifying race.

These speed athletes paced slowly as the yellow lights dimmed around the track as they made their way to the chalk stripe laid down over in turn four. When they arrived, the dust flew with Will Armitage continuing his impressive night darting into the early race lead ahead of Kasey Jedrzejek with Carson holding down the third spot in the running order when they completed lap one. Using the clean air in front of him, Will Armitage cut through it lap after lap making speed and put some space between himself and the remainder of the field. He would lead the race from start to finish to take the win with Jedrzejek and Macedo coming home second and third respective with Conner Morrell and Cole Macedo securing the last two transfer spots out of this competition.

The 8-minute horn sounded to summon the teams to start completing their final prep work and to escort their cars and drivers onto the racing surface for the start of the 40-lap Spring Classic feature finale at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park. After missing the Toyota Dash by one spot in his qualifying race, Carson was set to start his money run from the 9th position on the grid aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative/CASM Safety Products/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim. Carson finalized his game plan as he flipped the shield down on his Bell Helmet . . . he was ready to battle forward.

After being the first driver across the line in the Toyota Dash, Kasey Jedrzejek #6 sat on the pole with David Gravel #2 to his outside as they led the field from the front row. Will Armitage would start his chase from the third spot with Rees Moran #45x rolling beside him in row two. Sheldon Haudenschild #18 and Friday night’s winner Buddy Kofoid #83 were the starters in positions five and six with Chris Windom #7s and Bryce Norris #37 together in row four. Race officials gave the drivers the signal to go four-wide as the field saluted all these great fans who came out and spent their hard earned money to watch sprint cars entertain in circles.

The field of stars realigned into the two-by-two starting formation as they worked their way back to turn four and the waving green flag. The clam turned into controlled chaos as they came up to speed. The driver of the Bill Rose #6 jumped out into the early lead and was setting the pace for everyone to try to catch. David Gravel ran in second with Rees Moran in third.

Meanwhile Carson was battling with Donny Schatz, Hank Davis, and Chris Windom for position as the back end of the top ten. He had a fast race car and poised to move forward when the lanes opened. On lap three, he moved by Windom and Davis into the eighth spot right behind Bryce Norris.

Jedrzejek was out front with seven laps in the books but the back-to-back, two-time WoO champion, David Gravel, was right there now pressuring him for the top spot as they navigated slower traffic. The next time around I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park, Gravel drove the Big Game Motorsports #2 into the lead followed by Jedrzejek, Armitage, Haudenschild, and Kofoid.

On lap 10, Carson continued his march through the field as he moved by Bryce Norris to take over 7th place. The next competitor for him to catch and conquer was Rees Moran who had a fast racecar and racing a terrific race. A half mile later, two laps around this place, Carson made the pass and was now sitting just one spot out of the top five.

He was not done yet though because by the next completed lap he passed the Roth Motorsports #83 and soon found himself running in fourth behind Gravel, Haudenschild, and Jedrzejek. The California speedster had the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 on the move in Missouri. He continued forward as he battled his way into the top three when he rolled by Kasey Jedrzejek to take over the show position. Things were getting exciting for the JJR and Carson Macedo fans.

On lap 17, the caution flag slowed the action at Pevely when Carson McCarl #88 came to a stop on the back straightaway giving the drivers a moment to take a breath, relax, and collect their thoughts. David Gravel was out front followed by Sheldon Haudenschild and Carson Macedo.

When the green flag came out Carson quickly went back to work racing hard with Sheldon for the runner-up position. These two talented racers are gassers that race hard. Haudenschild was low. Macedo was right above him on the outside. They banged left rear and right rear Hoosier Racing Tires entering turn one resulting in both losing air pressure forcing the flagman to throw the yellow flag. Both drivers went to the work area where their crew members did their job changing the tires to get them back out on the track where they would tag the rear of the lead lap cars still on the track. That meant they would restart 21st and 22nd respectively.

Both impressive racers had a lot of recovery work to do with 22 laps remaining. David Gravel would lead Buddy Kofoid, Hank Davis, Chris Windom, and Bill Balog back up to speed when the green lights turned back on. But before a lap could be completed the red flag flew for Kaleb Johnson #19 who flipped on the frontstretch in an accident that also involved Landon Crawley #12x and Garet Williamson #23. Somehow Carson narrowly avoided the melee in front of him as he squeezed the Albaugh #41 through the slightest gap between the wreck and the outside wall.

The drivers would try again with Gravel maintaining the lead over Kofoid with the driver of the Roth Motorsports #83 racing in the leaders tracks to keep him close. Behind them Carson immediately went into full assault mode as he moved up three places in the running order. By lap 21 the Californian was already running in the top 15 as he continued to look for more. Carson continued his trek forward picking off positions one at a time. Before you knew it he was now in the top ten on the scoreboard.

Buddy Kofoid was moving too as he was racing with David Gravel for the lead as they were mired in lap traffic. He moved around the outside of Gravel for the lead in turn two and was now out front showing the way in the Toyota TRD/Mobil 1 #83.

With seven laps to go Carson was running in 10th place. He was tenacious and had a fast racecar. He just continued to wheel the forty-one moving up one spot out of the top five when the crossed sticks indicating two laps to go were shown to the field. Buddy Kofoid took the win to sweep the weekend at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park winning three straight races with David Gravel coming home second and Donny Schatz rounding out the podium. Bill Balog and Spencer Bayston completed the top five with Carson recovering to gather a sixth place run in the JJR forty-one! Another good run for Macedo and the forty-one!

The engines will remain quiet throughout the upcoming week as the teams prepare for another weekend of wheel-to-wheel bullring action starting at the HyVee Perks 40 at Jacksonville Speedway next Friday night before moving over to Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night for the Southern Indiana Showdown. These two cannot miss events on the WoO schedule every year are circled on people’s calendars. Be sure to tune into DIRTVision to catch all the cushion banging action both nights if your plans do not have you sitting in a seat at the track!
