TUESDAY TUSSLE IN NEBRASKA: USING THEIR FIRST “FREE PASS” OF THE 2025 SEASON, CARSON AND THE FORTY-ONE TEAM CHOOSE TO STEP INTO THE HIGH ROLLER ROOM AT EAGLE RACEWAY FOR THE EAGLE NATIONALS
EAGLE, NEBRASKA (June 10, 2025) – After a busy and productive race weekend up in Wisconsin with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, Carson Macedo and the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) team elected to use their first of four “free pass” opportunities afforded to the WoO Platinum drivers seasonally to head to Nebraska on Tuesday night to race with the Kubota High Limit Racing Series in the Eagle Nationals. The race at Eagle Raceway is the eighth in the Roto Rooter Midweek Series on the High Limit Racing schedule and is a crown jewel event with a large paycheck worth $55,555 waiting for the winner at the end of the night and $2,000 to start the A-Main. Carson and the team enjoyed connecting with the fans, friends, sponsorship partners, and competitors of the sport when they arrived before putting their game faces on for the night of competition. The field of entries was full of not only big names but also a ton of extraordinarily talented racecar drivers. There were 43 teams entered for the race all preparing to complete hard against each other as they chase the money and the prestigious trophy at the Eagle Nationals.
The first order of business was Capital Custom Trailers Time Trials around the fast one-third mile dirt track located due east between Lincoln, Nebraska and the Iowa border. Sammy Swindell set the track record at Eagle Raceway back in July 2009 with a lap of 11.076 seconds that still stands today. While that was the speed mark everyone was aiming for, the goal was simply to go as fast as possible in the least amount of time and hope your time was higher than everyone else’s time. Based on the number of cars entered to race the field split into two qualifying groups. Slated to be the 19th driver to hit the track in Qualifying Flight A, Carson was ready to go for a quick ride around Eagle Raceway driving the Durst Inc./Xtreme Body & Paint/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads #41 Maxim. He lowered his right foot on the speed button and was making tracks and not looking back. The California speedster roared by the starter’s stand as the green flag waved with his performance under scrutiny of the clock. When he completed the first lap the clock read 11.559 seconds. He continued with his elbows up trying to make some hay the second time around. This time when he raced under the checkered flag the clock displayed 11.555 seconds. The faster of his two attempts against time was lap two. The time posted put Carson seventh quick overall in Qualifying Flight A. Brenham Crouch in the CJB #5 was the fastest in Qualifying Flight A also earning the Capital Custom Trailers Quick Time overall for the night. Austin McCarl #88W sat on the top of the speed charts in Qualifying Flight B timing in at 11.522 seconds.

The Heat race lineups for the four 8-lap qualifying races posted in the pit area. Only the top five finishers would transfer into the feature with the Heat race winners and the quickest driver from time trials in each race that transfers would get an opportunity to spin the wheel for their Dash starting position. Carson would get the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/FK Rod Ends/Sander Engineering #41 started from the third starting spot with quick timer Brenham Crouch in the CJB #5 to his outside in row two. Giovanni Scelzi in the KCP Racing #18 and Daison Pursley in the Pella Windows & Doors #13 were on the front row. Kasey Kahne #9 and Justin Peck #26 were paired up in row three with Rico Abreu #24 and Kaleb Johnson #6K sharing row four. Cameron Martin #4 and Tyler Drueke #95 were rolling in row five with Kelby Watt #1K alone in row six for the start of the first heat race.
When the field reached turn four it was hammer down time at Eagle Raceway for the drivers in TJ Forged Heat Race #1. Polesitter Giovanni Scelzi quickly seized the top spot in the bright orange Aspen Aire #18 and was running out front in clean air with Daison Pursley and the field in chase mode. Carson was in third place when the first lap was recorded as he was dicing with Justin Peck who was working the top side as he wanted the higher position on the scoreboard. On the second lap, Justin Peck carried his speed around the top in turns one and two to move by Macedo into the show position.
Giovanni Scelzi was cruising in first place leading wire-to-wire to take the win ahead of Daison Pursley and Justin Peck. Carson brought the Albaugh #41 home fourth to lock in a transfer position to the a-Main with Brenham Crouch rounding out the top five.
After the qualifying races were over the eight drivers that advanced on headed to Victory Lane for a chance to spin the ShopHighLimitRacing.com Redraw Wheel for their starting spot in the 7-lap FK Rod Ends Dash. When each of the drivers gave their answer to the Hot Seat Question Tony LaPorta posed from a fan they spun the wheel. When the numbers were ordered from lowest to highest the starting lineup for the Dash featured Brad Sweet #49 (California) and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid #83 (California) on the front row with Austin McCarl #88W (Iowa) and Corey Day #14BC (California) directly behind their rear nerf bars in row two. The third row was made up of Brenham Crouch #5 (Texas) and Aaron Reutzel #87 (Texas) with Giovanni Scelzi #18 (California) and Anthony Macri #39M (Pennsylvania) side-by-side in row four. They were racing for the starting spots in the feature with West Coaster Michael Kofoid taking the win over fellow Golden State racers Sweet and Day with the remainder of the finishing order shaping up with McCarl in fourth, Crouch in fifth, as Reutzel, Scelzi, and Macri rounded things out.

There were many incredible individual performances to this point of the night to earn a starting position in the upcoming 40-lap Kubota High Limit Racing Eagle Nationals feature. At this level of racing everything is earned, nothing gifted – although a little “Lady Luck” occasionally never hurts in this sport, and life for that matter.
The front row of Michael “Buddy” Kofoid in the Roth Enterprises/Mobil 1/Toyota #83 and Brad Sweet in the NAPA Auto Parts #49 paced the field as they prepared to set sail in the Cornhusker State at the track that has “1 BADASS RACETRACK” painted in red on the backstretch wall – Eagle Raceway. Carson Macedo would start 17th piloting the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Team Jack Foundation/Mark Burch Motorsports #41 Maxim entry.
The rubber was about to hit the road (or dirt in this case) as the yellow lights turned off around the track replaced by the green ones when they were between the starting stripes. Off turn four polesitter Michael Kofoid throttled down moving into the lead before getting to turn one. He was on the gas as third starting Corey Day was working his way by Brad Sweet in the early laps.
Carson was battling Justin Peck early with Kyle Larson charging hard into the spot behind the forty-one from his 22nd starting position. Macedo would get shuffled back as far as twenty first in the first eight laps, but then he began his march forward moving up two spots by lap 12. He was not done as over the next 15 laps he picked up five more positions and was now running in the 14th spot before getting collected in a turn one crash when Spencer Bayston and Danny Sams III got together in front of him and spun ending his night. Also involved in the melee was Kyle Larson and Chase Randall.
When racing resumed, the driver of the Roth Motorsports #83 entry was mission driven with Corey Day giving him everything he could handle. The two made contact off turn two with Kofoid maintaining the lead. Day was driving the wheels off his #14BC and closing quickly before getting into the backstretch wall and flipping hard into turn three. He was ok, but his aggressive night ended abruptly with five laps remaining in the race.
Kofoid would refire and race to the big money win as he crossed the finish lone ahead of Anthony Macri and Aaron Reutzel with Brad Sweet and Tyler Courtney completing the top five at the Eagle Nationals.
