TUESDAY RUMBLINGS: A MID-WEEK STOP IN WISCONSIN AT MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY FOR THE JJR #41 TEAM ENABLES THEM TO MAKE SOME NOISE AND SHOW OFF THEIR SPEED AT A NEW TRACK WITH A SIXTH PLACE FINISH

FOUNTAIN CITY, WISCONSIN (August 19, 2025) – After the checkered flag flew on Saturday night at the Jackson Motorplex, where the Carson secured his second consecutive win to sweep the WoO weekend in Minnesota, the JJR #41 team made the 200 mile journey over to Mississippi Thunder Speedway (MTS) in Wisconsin on Tuesday night for the debut race titled the Mississippi Thunder Showdown. When the team arrived at this high-banked, wide and sweeping cornered 3/8-mile facility that’s sits just off the backs of the mighty Mississippi River they unloaded their equipment, took a minute to check the track out, and then started to prepare for the exciting night of high-speed entertainment – World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Series style – in Wisconsin! There were 27 competitors present and ready to put on a high quality show for all the fans in the grandstands as well as those tuning in on DIRTVision. It was race day at Mississippi Thunder Speedway for the first time in series history!

After getting their first laps at speed on Mississippi Thunder Speedway in WEDG High Performance Karts Hot Laps the drivers came in and debrief with their crew members on what they felt and needed after some discussion. The teams went to work to make the necessary adjustments to aid their driver’s performance during their two time trial laps in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. The order for time trials was based on the random pill draw for each driver that took place before the night started at the World of Outlaws Command Center during the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw. After the pill numbers were arranged from low to high the time trial order was set. The driver behind the wheel of the High Performance Lubricants/Sander Engineering/RaceDiecast.com #41 was buckled in and ready to roll. Slated to be the second to last car out, or 26 in the order, for his two go ‘rounds, Carson sat patiently awaiting his turn to create speed. When Riley Goodno #16 completed his laps against the clock, the Kistler Racing Engines powerplant was eager to partner with Carson on his high speed pursuit. He pushed onto the track off turn two and had his Maxim Racing machine humming at full song when he exited turn four racing towards the waving green flag. When he arrived, Carson was officially on the clock. He was moving and grooving while navigating the racing oval. How quickly would soon be answered as he darted by the flagstand to complete lap one in 11.502 seconds. The California racer likes these smaller tracks and was digging for more as he made his way around again during his second lap. His second lap was consistent but slightly slower coming in at 11.533 seconds when he raced under the checkered flag to end his timed session. The better of Carson’s two attempts ended time trial seventh quick overall with David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 setting quick time for the 16th time this season, and establishing a New Track Record (NTR), with a lap of 11.324 seconds to earn the Simpson Quick Time Award. There were 19 drivers that turned in a lap that was quicker than the former track record.

Race officials went to work building out the starting lineups for each of the three 8-lap Heat races based on each driver’s best lap time in time trials qualifying. That position the Scott Boyd Family/Team Jack Foundation/Sam I Am #41 Maxim in the third starting spot in row two of Real American Beer Heat Race #2. Christopher Thram in his family owned #24T pulled up alongside Carson with David Gravel in the ShopHusets.com/JRC Transportation #2 and Garet Williamson I his S&S Insurance/Fischer Motorsports #23 pacing ahead on the front row. Rolling behind in row three was Cole Macedo in the WEDG High Performance Karts/TwoC Racing #2c and Grand Fors, North Dakota’s own Brendan Mullen #11M with Gage Pulkrabek #G5 and Brooke Tatnell #14 side-by-side in row four and Dalton Domagala #77 alone in row five.

The next time by the field would get up to speed quickly off turn four when the green lights illuminated in coordination with the waving green flag from the flagstand. David Gravel raced into the lead as Carson stayed low in the gold and green Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 looking underneath both Gravel and Williamson for the lead as they made their way through the first turn. When the driver of the forty-one exited turn two he was in second place ahead of Williamson as they headed down the backstretch. David Gravel led the opening lap but a speedy pack of hungry predators that were proven and skilled at hunting down prey continued to chase.

The race would go green from start to finish with David Gravel taking the win. He was sailing out in front of the field and led every lap to take the Heat race win by 1.536 seconds over Carson with Garet Williamson coming home third. Christopher Thram locked down the fourth spot with Cole Macedo and Brendan Mullin securing the final two transfer spots out of the race.

The lineup for the 6-lap Toyota Dash featured the winners and second place finishers in each of the Heat races who once again got to assess their luck when they drew a numbered pill for where they would start in the Dash. When the oversized NOS Energy Drink can was empty, the lineup was set with Bill Balog #17B and Logan Schuchart #1s leading the field from the front row. Kerry Madsen in the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) #15 and Sheldon Haudenschild #17 were behind them in row two with David Gravel #2 and Carson Macedo #41 rolling in row three looking to get on the gas. The green flag waved with Bill Balog jumping into the early race lead followed by Logan Schuchart and Kerry Madsen. David Gravel gained a spot and was now running third, but the “show” in this race was between the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 and the NOS Energy Drink #17. They were cleanly racing wheel-to-wheel for the fifth position swapping it multiple times before Haudenschild secured it. Bill Balog took the win crossing the finish line 1.641 seconds ahead of Logan Schuchart with Kerry Madsen coming home third and David Gravel fourth. Sheldon Haudenschild finished fifth with Carson Macedo settling for sixth.

The drivers began to climb into their cars in preparation for the start of the 30-lap World of Outlaws Mississippi Thunder Showdown feature. There was a big check waiting for the winner in victory lane and a nice trophy to commemorate the debut event here at Mississippi Thunder Speedway.

After winning the Toyota Dash, Bill Balog in the Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup #17B would start from the pole sharing row one with Logan Schuchart in the Drydene/Shark Racing #1s. That talented pair was followed by Kerry Madsen in the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) #15 and David Gravel aboard his Big Game Motorsports #2 in row two with Sheldon Haudenschild’s NOS Energy Drink #17 and Carson Macedo’s Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/ISC Racers Tape/Pro Powder Coating (PPC) #41 Maxim perched in row three.

The grandstands were packed. The viewers watching the DIRTVision were all tuned up. It was time for the best in the business to get after it at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Wisconsin. Before the race started though fifth starting Sheldon Haudenschild experienced some mechanical issues that sent him to the Federated Car Care Work Zone. Unfortunately, he was unable to rejoin the field, so the lineup was shuffled before the green flag with everyone from the sixth position back moving up one spot. Carson shifted to the inside of row three.

When the order was reset and the green flag waved, Bill Balog raced into the lead on the opening circuit ahead of Schuchart, Madsen, and Gravel with Carson getting shuffled back to seventh as the top side of the track was the best lane to generate speed early. The next time by Carson lost another spot to Emerson Axsom in the KCP Racing #18 and was now running in the eighth running position with 28 laps to go.

On lap 3, Carson regathered himself and moved back around Axsom as he started to get in a rhythm and focused forward. At the front of the pack, it was still Bill Balog leading Logan Schuchart with David Gravel moving into the show position after passing Kerry Madsen for the spot. There was action everywhere on the track creating entertainment value for the fans in attendance at Mississippi Thunder Speedway.

On the fourth lap though Balog surrendered the lead to the hard-charging Logan Schuchart who now owned the lead as he raced around the #17B off turn two. David Gravel was masterfully working the bottom on entry and exit of every set of turns and before too long, on lap 6, he also moved by Balog and was now running second and quickly closing in on your race leader. Three laps later Gravel made the pass on the low side to assume the lead off turn four.

Carson was still hard at work in the seventh position racing behind Garet Williamson and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid who started ninth when the caution flag flew on lap 10 for Conner Morrell #28M who was off the paced and slowed on the track. The restart order would be Gravel, Schuchart, Balog, Madsen, and Williamson with Kofoid and Macedo right behind.

David Gravel raced back into the lead as Kofoid showed off his speed moving up two positions making the pass on both Madsen and Williamson and was now running in the fourth position. The driver of the Roth Motorsports/Mobil 1/Toyota #83 scooted by Bill Balog on lap 12 to move into third and had an appetite for more.

Kerry Madsen was getting shuffled back and was racing right in front of Carson’s Albaugh – Your Alternative #41. Just before the midway point of the race, Carson made the pass for position and was now dueling from the sixth spot behind Garet Williamson.

On lap 23, the final caution of the race displayed for Gage Pulkrabek #G5 who came to stop in turn one with smoke coming out from under the hood. Not good. He headed to the pit area as his night was over. Carson would restart from the sixth position with seven laps remaining in the race.

Leader David Gravel brought them back up to speed with Kofoid now in second trying to stick with him. The driver of the Big Game Motorsports #2 was dealing with lap traffic late and with one lap to go Buddy Kofoid had reeled him in. He got close but not close enough as David Gravel raced to the win with Kofoid and Schuchart earning the final two steps on the podium. Bill Balog and Garet Williamson rounded out the top five with Carson Macedo coming home with a sixth place finish. Kerry Madsen #15, Hunter Schuerenberg #55, Chris Windom #7s, and Cole Macedo #2c completed the top ten on the series’ inaugural visit to this fast and racy Wisconsin facility. Another good run for Macedo and the forty-one!
