SHUFFLING IN SUN PRAIRIE: AFTER A NIGHT OF RACING ACTION, CARSON MACEDO SCOOTS HOME WITH AN EIGHTH PLACE FINISH AT ANGELL PARK SPEEDWAY IN THE FINAL WORLD OF OUTLAWS RACE IN THE BADGER STATE THIS SEASON
SUN PRAIRIE, WISCONSIN (October 19, 2025) – Philip Dietz, Carson Macedo, and the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) team had a busy midwestern weekend of racing beginning Friday night down at Lincoln Park Speedway in Indiana where they raced forward from their tenth place starting spot to a runner-up finish before heading up to LaSalle Showdown in Illinois on Saturday night only to have weather wash out the night. After moving onto Wisconsin, Carson was suited up in his Albaugh – Your Alternative K1 Race Gear racing suit ready to get after it again Sunday night at Angell Park Speedway. The originally scheduled event here was impacted by weather after Mother Nature dumped a lot of precipitation over the track back on June 8th when the traveling tour of stars was set to race here. The event was postponed and rescheduled for this date by SLS Promotions. The journey from Illinois to Wisconsin brought Carson and his World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink competitors to Angell Park Speedway, which is in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, for the first time since 2016. There were 25 race teams parked throughout the pit area ready to put on a quality show – World of Outlaws style – at Angell Park Speedway’s one-third mile clay oval.
After pulling a small number in the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw Carson would be the third racecar driver to hit the track in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying for his time trial laps. This track demands the best out of these speed athletes and the crews as it requires the correct setup for the changing track conditions so the drivers can perform at their best. Carson waited patiently in line for his shot against the fast-moving stopwatch. After Danny Schlafer #25 completed his two laps, the Kistler Racing Engines power came to life under the hood of the Scott Boyd Family/Walker Performance Filtration/Saldana Racing Products #41. It was now time for the California wheelman to do his thing from the cockpit of his Maxim Racing machine. He stomped on the accelerator and had his speed and momentum moving in the right direction when he started his first lap. He focused on hitting his marks as the numbers whizzed by on the clock. When he completed his first circuit, 11.705 seconds popped up on the scoreboard for the fans to see how he did as he was the first driver to break the former one lap track record. That lasted for just a brief period. Carson though was not aware of his good lap time, so he kept his right foot planted trying to create more speed during his second lap. He was digging off turn four and raced towards the waving checkered flag. This time the clock recorded his performance in 11.818 seconds. His first lap was the better of his two attempts and positioned him sixth quick overall on the final speed charts when qualifying ended after five other drivers – David Gravel #2, Emerson Axsom #27, Buddy Kofoid #83, Logan Schuchart #1s, and Sheldon Haudenschild #17 all were quicker than Carson and under the former track record. David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 went out late and proved to be the fastest hotshoe on this night at Angell Park establishing a New Track Record (NTR) after laying down a lap in 11.556 seconds to earn the Simpson Quick Time Award, his series leading 23rd of the season.

With the solo portion of the show completed, the teams were actively working on their cars to change over to their race setups for one of the three 10-lap Heat races. Based on his best time trail lap, Carson would be in WIX Filters Heat Race #3 where he would line up the Sander Engineering/Bandy & Associates/Winter Performance Products #41 Maxim on the front row alongside polesitter Buddy Kofoid in the Roth Motorsports/Mobil 1 #83. Cole Macedo in the TwoC Racing/Outlaw Wings #2c and Brady Bacon #21H paced behind the row one starters with Skylar Gee #99 and Danny Schlafer #25 in row three. Rolling in the fourth and final row was Scott Neitzel #2W and Matt VanderVere #10V.
There were six transfer spots in each Heat race up for grabs, so when the green flag dropped it was all business. Pacing slowly down the frontstretch, the flagman gave the competitors the one-to-go signal indicating that when they reached the chalk stripe in turn four the next time by it was hammer down time. Polesitter Buddy Kofoid arrived and instantaneously mashed the gas pedal. The race was on with Carson tucking in behind Kofoid on the low side entering turn one. They raced down the back straightaway in front of the red and white candy cane painted walls as they entered the last sets of turns. At the end of the first lap, it was three Californians out in front of the pack – Buddy Kofoid, Carson Macedo, and Cole Macedo – with Brady Bacon, Scott Neitzel, and Skylar Gee running behind them.
The drivers in the race were all turning consistent laps with the qualifying race going uninterrupted from start to finish. Buddy Kofoid took the win with Carson crossing the finish line second. Those two speedsters moved onto the Toyota Dash with Cole Macedo coming home third. Brady Bacon raced home fourth with Scott Neitzel and Skylar Gee locking down the final two transfer positions.
Only six entries on the night made the 8-lap Toyota Dash with Emerson Axsom #27 and David Gravel #2 leading the field from the front row after having lucky hands in the Dash Draw. Carson Macedo in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 was joined in row two by Sheldon Haudenschild who pulled into the third spot with Buddy Kofoid #83 and Chris Windom #7s in row three. When the green flag waved, Emerson Axsom sped into to the top spot ahead of Gravel, Haudenschild, and Macedo with Kofoid hounding the forty-one for position. When they exited turn two on the second circuit, Kofoid raced off the bottom and made the pass for position over Macedo down the backstretch. Carson dropped lower on the track to fend off a hard charging Windom to maintain track position. Meanwhile, Emerson Axsom was hammer down and building his lead over Gravel. The leader of the race was never challenged as he raced to the Dash victory in dominant fashion crossing the finish line ahead of David Gravel with Sheldon Haudenschild coming home third. Buddy Kofoid crossed the line fourth with Carson Macedo and Chris Windom rounding out the finishing order.

Philip Dietz, Robby McQuinn, and Adam Zimmerman were finishing their work in preparation for the 35-lap World of Outlaws Badger State Triple feature at Angell Park Speedway as the time to race for the money neared. Carson climbed aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative/CASM Safety Products/BR Motorsports #41 and tightened his Crow Enterprizes safety belts. He would start his race for the checkers from the fifth position in row three pacing alongside Chris Windom in the NOS Energy Drink #7s. Each of these 24 drivers that earned a spot in the A-Main wanted to be standing on top of the podium at the end of the night, but there was only one step available. Emerson Axsom #27 and David Gravel #2 would lead the field of talented racers to the green flag with Sheldon Haudenschild #17 and Buddy Kofoid #83 behind them in row two. It was time to go racing at Angell Speedway Park in Wisconsin!
The green flag was waving in the wind with Emerson Axsom jumping out into the early race lead ahead of David Gravel and Sheldon Haudenschild. Carson tucked the forty-one into the fifth position behind the top three cars and Buddy Kofoid early. The driver of the Roth Enterprises/Mobil 1 entry was showing speed early and used it to hustle into the third position as he made the pass on Haudenschild the next time around.
On lap 3, the first race slow down of the night occurred when the yellow flag was thrown over the field for a slowing Lance Fassbender #7 from Burnett, Wisconsin. Emerson Axsom chose to restart from the inside lane as David Gravel pulled to his outside. The remaining cars running in the odd numbered positions followed Axsom’s lead and pulled to the inside as those running in the even numbered position aligned behind Gravel on the outside.
The leader mashed the gas again and drove off into the race lead with Gravel chasing as Haudenschild reclaimed the show position from Kofoid. Sixth starting Logan Schuchart used the outside lane to steal the fifth spot on the restart from Carson who settled into sixth place.
There was a lot of position shuffling throughout the field when they got back up to speed. The driver of the NOS Energy Drink #17 was riding a fast bullet and was closing in on the runner-up spot. On lap 6, Haudenschild drove the blue and orange NOS Energy Drink #17 by Gravel to claim the second spot on the scoreboard.
Two laps later Sheldon Haudenschild was breathing down Emerson Axsom’s neck racing for the lead. He moved by on the outside and was now your leader. His right foot was doing the talking and the Stenhouse Jr./Marshall Racing #17 was doing the walking.
Carson was back in the sixth spot as he continued to battle Logan Schuchart, Bill Balog, and Cole Macedo for position. They were all close and at any moment were racing side-by-side for position as the laps began to count down. With eleven circuits to go, Bill Balog and Cole Macedo snuck by the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 relegating Carson back to the eighth position in the running order.
Sheldon Haudenschild was the class of the field on this night as he raced to the win at Angell Park Speedway ahead of Emerson Axsom and David Gravel who rounded out the podium. Logan Schuchart raced home fourth with Buddy Kofoid completing the top five. Bill Balog and Cole Macedo came home sixth and seventh respectively with Carson locking down the eighth position crossing the finish line ahead of Hunter Schuerenberg and Garet Williamson who rounded out the top ten for the night. It was Carson and the JJR #41 team’s 56th top ten finish of the season in 72 races (a 77.78% top ten success rate). Another good run for Macedo and the forty-one!
The team will stay in the Midwest next weekend as they head to Eight One Speedway in Park City, Kansas on Friday night to compete in the Wichita Sprint Car Showdown before heading over to Colcord, Oklahoma on Saturday night for the seventh running of the Jason Johnson Classic at Arrowhead Speedway. If you are in the area, make plans to head out to the tracks to catch the entertaining action “live” or tune into DIRTVision so you do not miss any of the great action!
