SEARCHING FOR SPEED ON SATURDAY: THE JASON JOHNSON RACING (JJR) #41 TEAM WAS WORKING HARD THIS WEEKEND AT HUSET’S SPEEDWAY COMPLETING NIGHT TWO AT THE SHOOTOUT WITH A TOP TEN RUN AT THE BULLRING

BRANDON, SOUTH DAKOTA (September 5, 2026) – After Sheldon Haudenschild, driving the KCP Racing/NOS Energy Drink #18, raced under the checkers with the confetti showering down in Victory Lane following his win on Friday night to open the Huset’s Shootout, the World of Outlaws traveling tour of speedsters were back at the track again ready to take on the talented locals again with more Preliminary Event Points on the line and another $15,000 check for the winner. Carson Macedo had the Albaugh – Your Alternative hotrod moving forward all night on Friday ultimately racing to a fifth place finish earning those valuable Preliminary Huset’s Shootout Points that carried over to Saturday’s activities. The Lemoore, California native was ready to get back after it again on Saturday during the second preliminary night in the L.G. Everist Huset’s Shootout presented by Ace Ready Mix at Huset’s Speedway’s famous quarter mile bullring. This event draws fans from all around the country as they mingled throughout merchandise row looking to stock up on their favorite driver’s goodies. There were 32 competitive and tenacious race teams that returned to the pit area as the crew members preparing for more success one lap at a time at Huset’s. It was race day again in South Dakota – World of Outlaws style – with another checkered flag to chase, winners check to earn, and a cool trophy to boot.

The evening of entertainment started with Race//Ready Hot Laps before transitioning into the high speed action in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. They would qualify as a distinct group for time trials with each driver getting two chances to record their lowest lap time around the dirt oval. Their best time is then used to position them into one of the starting lineups of one of the four Heat races following the conclusion of time trials. Christopher Thram #24T was the first racer to push out on the night making his way around the track in 11.246 seconds. The driver of the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Pro Powder Coating (PPC)/Durst Inc. #41 Maxim would be the tenth speed demon to roll up the banking for his two timed performances. With his Kistler Engines power unleashed, Carson circled Huset’s Speedway in 11.398 seconds for the first time around. He followed that attempt up with a consistent but slightly faster lap the next time around clocking in at 11.359 seconds. The better of his two laps ended up tenth quick in the final overall order. David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 sat atop the speed charts for the fifth race in a row at 11.172 seconds earning his series dominant and unmatched twenty-third Simpson Quick Time Award for the fastest lap of the night in time trials.

The starting grids posted for each of the four 10-lapHeat races where the top two finishers locked down spots in the Toyota Dash with the finishers in positions three through five secured automatic transfers into the A-Main lineup. Carson climbed into the cockpit of the Border International/Xtreme Body and Paint/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim poised and ready to perform in multi-car racing action. He would start alongside Chris Windom in the Sides Motorsports/NOS Energy Drink #7s in row two with Christopher Thram #24T and Gage Pulkrabek #G5 leading the field from the front row of The Greatest Store on Dirt Heat Race #2. Rolling behind in row three were Emerson Axsom #27 and Cole Macedo piloting the TwoC Racing/Level Utilities, LLC #2c as Dominic Dobesh #9 and Donny Schatz #15 tucked into row four.

It was time to get busy. The engines roared to life when the front row starters reached the chalk stripe in turn four. The drivers were chasing each other early for track position like hungry leopards trying to track down gazelles. Christopher Thram led the opening lap with Gage Pulkrabek and Carson Macedo trailing close behind ready to take a bite out of the leader’s rear tail tank. Carson was all over Pulkrabek. He was trying to work the high side to make his way into the runner-up position on the narrow racing surface, but the bottom was too dominant and the way to go. Not too far behind the top three was Cole Macedo running in the fourth spot with Emerson Axsom scored as the last car in the top five.

When the black and white checkered cloth flew over the car after ten laps, Christopher Thram secured the victory in the second qualifying race ahead of Gage Pulkrabek as they both locked down two of the eight spots in the Toyota Dash along with the other qualifying race winners and runner-up finishers. Carson Macedo raced across the finish line in the third spot with his younger brother Cole Macedo just behind in fourth place with Emerson Axsom hustling home in fifth to earn the final spot. Chris Windom booked home sixth with Donny Schatz crossing the line seventh as Dominic Dobesh rounded out the finishing order.

At the conclusion of the Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown, the final four qualifiers made their way into the big show at Huset’s Speedway. The loud horn sounded as the crew members escorted their drivers and cars onto the racing surface through the back gate midway down the backstretch to stage before the money paying race. It was the second of three nights of competition with the 35-lap L.G. Everist Huset’s Shootout presented by Ace Ready Mix A-Main remaining on the agenda. The feature is where these drivers and teams make their money. The amount of pay earned is commensurate with their individual performances when the checkered flag flies at the end of the race, so they were ready to let it all hang out.

Steven Snyder Jr. #51 and Buddy Kofoid #83 would lead the field to the green flag from the front row after finishing the Toyota Dash in the first two spots. Those two talented chauffeurs were followed in row two by two of the hottest drivers in the country Garet Williamson #23 and Sheldon Haudenschild #18 with Gage Pulrabek #G5 and Logan Schuchart #1s together in row three. Row four showcased Ryan Timms #10 and Christopher Thram #24T with Spencer Bayston #17 and Carson Macedo #41 pacing slowly together in row five.

Carson peered through the shield of his Clem’s custom painted Bell Helmet from his tenth starting position visioning his opening lap race strategy. After the World of Outlaws four-wide salute to the fans, Macedo flexed his shoulders and elbows up and down prepared to get gritty when the green flag waved. He rolled the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Team Jack Foundation/Ben Cook Race Car Products #41 Maxim to the outside of Bayston’s Nos Energy Drink #17 in row five. It was time to go racing at Huset’s Speedway!

When the green lights illuminated in sync with the waving of the green cloth held by the flagman, Steven Snyder Jr. darted into the lead ahead of Kofoid and Williamson. He held that position when the first lap was completed as Carson maneuvered a little further back in the pack from the ninth position.

The driver of the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 was mired in a high speed exchange with four other drivers – Ryan Timms, Kaleb Johnson, Spencer Bayston, and Christopher Thram. They were separated by a small amount of space depending on where they were racing on the track. Lap after lap they would swap positions when they crossed the finish line.

Up front, Buddy Kofoid was keeping a watchful eye on the race leader. Seven laps into the race, the Penngrove, California driver of the Roth Enterprises #83 got tired of looking at the black tail tank of the leader and dove underneath him entering turn three before exiting turn four with the lead.

At the halfway point of the race, it was Kofoid leading everyone with Williamson, Haudenschild, Snyder JR., and Schuchart in the top five. Carson was holding down the last spot in the top ten as he surrendered ninth place to the always patient and fast David Gravel.

On lap 28, all the action came to an abrupt stop when seventh place running Gage Pulkrabek took a hard series of flips in turns three and four. He was ok, but his car was not. When they restarted the race it would be Kofoid first to the gas still followed by Williamson and Haudenschild with Schuchart and Snyder Jr. close behind. Carson got going from the ninth position.

The green was back out with the Mobil 1/Toyota/Roth Motorsports #83 gliding around Huset’s with a purpose. No one ever really contested him as he raced to victory by 0.769 seconds ahead of Garet Williamson with Sheldon Haudenschild rounding out the podium. Logan Schuchart came across the finish line in fourth with Steven Snyder Jr. completing the top five. Ryan Timms was scored sixth with Spencer Bayston and David Gravel behind him. Carson worked his way under the checkers in ninth place with Christopher Thram rounding out the top ten.

The top ten in Huset’s Shootout points after the two preliminary nights were: (1) Sheldon Haudenschild #18 (294 points); (2) Buddy Kofoid #83 (294 points); (3) Garet Williamson #23 (292 points); (4) David Gravel #2 (276 points); (5) Logan Schuchart #1s (274 points); (6) Spencer Bayston #17 (274 points); (7) Carson Macedo #41 (272 points); (8) Ryan Timms (272 points); (9) Steven Snyder Jr. (268 points); and (10) Bill Balog #17B (264 points).

With the two preliminary point nights in the books, all the teams turned their attention to Sunday’s finale at the Huset’s Shootout which would have a unique format. The crew members and drivers now had two solid nights of performance to use as they prepared for action on the final night at Huset’s Speedway. Carson and the JJR #41 team were ready to improve the script on Sunday before departing South Dakota for the last time during the 2026 season.
