SAMMY SWINDELL, A THREE-TIME WORLD OF OUTLAW CHAMPION, WILL TAKE OVER AS PILOT OF THE JASON JOHNSON RACING (JJR) #41 ENTRY AS JASON ANXIOUSLY AWAITS HIS RETURN TO THE COCKPIT
ROCKY MOUNT, MISSOURI (May 31, 2015) – As we flip the calendar from May to June, two champions are coming together in an attempt to form a competitive and winning partnership. Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) along with all of our sponsorship partners, are pleased to announce that Sammy Swindell will be the pilot of the Priority Aviation Services/Fischer Body Shop/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 Maxim while Jason continues to recover from injuries sustained earlier this season.
Sammy will replace Jamie Veal behind the wheel as he climbs into the cockpit of the JJR Maxim for the first time at Kokomo Speedway on Wednesday night as the team looks to roll out of the trailer fast. The two champions are excited to come together to field a consistent and competitive car against the best in the business night in and night out.
Everyone at JJR would like to thank Jamie Veal for filling the seat admirably during the month of May. Jamie did a terrific job putting the car in the show even though it was his first time seeing most of the tracks here in the United States. His best run aboard the JJR entry was at Eldora Speedway where he started on the outside front row in the feature and brought home a very respectable ninth place finish. “I, along with everyone at JJR, really enjoyed working with Jamie and we certainly appreciate his efforts immensely,” Jason highlighted. “He came in on short notice and really did a nice job for us each night.”
If you are a race fan, you almost certainly will know the Swindell name as it is synonymous with professionalism and winning. Sammy has helped make the Swindell name one of the most recognized names in all of motorsports. He started racing in 1971 at Riverside Speedway, and since that time has excelled in anything and everything that he has driven. But, his successful career has been defined behind the wheel of a sprint car. He has amassed three World of Outlaw Championships (1981, 1982 and 1997) and 294 career WoO victories. His attention to detail and engineering mind have been two strategic components that have given him a competitive edge on and off the track throughout his career.
“We are very pleased that Sammy will be the driver of our car on the World of Outlaw tour here in June while I continue to get better every day from the injuries I receive while racing out in California.” Jason summarized. “Sammy is a very smart racing guy who likes to compete against the best.”
Jason also pointed out, “Sammy and I both have a passion for winning.” He continued, “He is a proven winner and I am looking forward to us working well together as I think we will have an opportunity to learn a lot together while representing our team and sponsors along the way in a very professional and respectable manner.”
Jason and Bobbi Johnson along with the entire JJR team made up of Philip Dietz and Cole Freeser are committed to being successful on the World of Outlaw tour. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Priority Aviation Services, Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT), Fischer Body Shop, Waco Metal, Dissolvalloy Frac Ball Revolution, Saich Family, E&K of Phoenix, Valvoline, Maxim, Jonestown KOA, Pro Powder Coating (PPC), Momentum Racing Suspensions, FK Rod Ends, Kenny’s Components, Schoenfeld Headers, Wilwood, ISC Racers Tape, www.racediecast.com, K&N Filters, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS), Hepfner Racing Products (HRP), Shell Shock, Weld Racing, Winters Performance Products, Crow Enterprizes, MSD Performance, KSE Racing Products, and Arai Helmet for standing behind us with all of their support in 2015!
