RACING FOR SOME BEN FRANKLINS IN INDIANA: CARSON MACEDO RALLIES AT LINCOLN PARK SPEEDWAY IN THE PUTNAMVILLE SHOWDOWN MOVING FORWARD IN THE MESILLA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION (MVT) #41 BAGGING A RUNNER-UP FINISH
PUTNAMVILLE, INDIANA (October 17, 2025) – With the last scheduled races in Pennsylvania and New Jersey now in the rearview mirror for the 2025 season, Philip Dietz guided his Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) #41 team back to the Midwest for three exciting nights of racing starting at Lincoln Park Speedway on Friday night. The tours return to Putnamville’s 3/8-mile, semi-banked bullring located off West U.S. Highway 40 is the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series first time back at the track in a decade. Donny Schatz came out victorious when the traveling tour last stopped at the track back in June of 2016. There was a lot of enthusiasm being back in the Hoosier State of Indiana to kick off a busy weekend of competition for the speed stars. It was a beautiful day under brilliant blue skies as 32 drivers and teams registered at the pit shack. The crew members were busily working on their speed chariots throughout the pit area as the fans filtered into the grandstands to find seats. It was a day to race – World of Outlaws style – at Lincoln Park Speedway with one hundred and twenty $100 bills with Ben Franklin’s face emblazoned on them were awaiting the winner of the World of Outlaws Putnamville Showdown!
Engines began to fire for WEDG High Performance Karts Hot Laps. Each driver would push off with their assigned group to circle the track a few times to test their qualifying package before heading to the staging area for Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying where speed and time officially count. The driver of the Albaugh – Your Alternative/C&R Racing/Sander Engineering #41 Maxim would be the 20th speed chauffeur to take his two laps around Lincoln Speedway Park. When Bill Balog in his Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup #17B finished his timed excursion, Carson was ready to get up on the wheel. The Kistler Engines power under the hood came to life and his right foot was summoned to work. He was on the gas making speed as he roared off turn four und under the waving green flag. Things happen quickly on these types of bullrings and Carson was processing everything real time as he grew up on these types of small tracks back in California. He blasted through the last set of turns and stopped the clock on lap one in 11.108 seconds. During lap two he continued his speed journey looking to find anything he may have left out on the track time wise the first time around. With dirt spraying up from his rear Hoosier Racing Tires he was digging hard coming to the checkered flag. His second attempt was slightly slower than the first one with a time of 11.145 seconds. When the final driver, Joe B. Miller #51B, completed his two laps, Carson best lap stood as the 14th best time overall for the night in time trials. Standing at the top of the speed charts after setting a New Track Record (NTR) and earning the Simpson Quick Time Award with a 10.707 second lap around Lincoln Park was Buddy Kofoid wheeling the Roth Motorsports/Mobil 1/Toyota #83.

The starting lineups for each of four 10-lap Heat races were based on the time trail results for each driver. Using that criterion, Carson was set to line up in the fourth starting position on the grid in Real American Beer Heat Race #2 behind the wheel of the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Engler Machine & Tool/Smiley’s Racing Products #41 Maxim. He shared row two with Garet Williamson in the Fischer Motorsports/S and S Nationwide/Impact Signs #23 as they rolled around Lincoln Park Speedway awaiting the start of competitive action.
This Heat race was loaded with young emerging talent with Cole Macedo in the Two C Racing/Outlaw Wings #2c and Zach Hampton in the Bill Rose Racing #6 on the front row. Pacing together in row three behind Garet Williamson and Carson Macedo was Cole Duncan #24 and Conner Morrell in the Tub O’ Towels #28M with Cory Eliason in the KCP Racing/Aspen Aire #18 and Jimmy Light #23L rolling together in the fourth and final row.
The field aligned in their two-by-two starting formation when the yellow lights turned off and the rolled up green flag was shown to them as they passed the flagstand. The next time by that flag unfurled and waving in the wind as polesitter Cole Macedo hopped on the gas and set sail. Zach Hampton fired from the outside of the front row stumbled a bit with Carson getting into him slowing his early pace allowing Wiliamson to slip into the runner-up position. Carson recollected himself and drove around the outside onto third with Cole Duncan right behind his tail tank.
Cole Macedo had his red machine hustling out front and was having his way around Lincoln Park throughout the qualifying race. He would lead and never be challenged from start to finish taking the Heat race win over Garet Williamson with Carson rolling home third in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41. Cole Duncan was the fourth driver across the finish line with Zach Hampton locking down the fifth and final automatic transfer position.

After missing racing in the Toyota Dash, Carson and the JJR #41 team were locked into the feature but watch as the track evolved so they could adjust their setup. The air horn sounded throughout the pit area summoning the twenty four cars that made the field for the 35-lap World of Outlaws Putnamville Showdown feature to the track to stage for the race. Carson sat patiently in the cockpit of his Maxim Racing machine as he waited for the tow truck to assist coaxing his Kistler Engines power to awaken and get ready to work. The Lemoore, California native would start from the tenth position in the starting lineup and shared row five with Logan Schuchart aboard the Shark Racing/Drydene/Take 5 Oil Change #1s.
David Gravel lined his black and orange Big Game Motorsports #2 up on the pole position and would lead the field to the green flag along with Darin Naida #7N. They earned those coveted spots after winning and coming home in the runner-up position in the Toyota Dash. Directly behind them in row two was Buddy Kofoid #83 and Bill Balog #17B with Garet Williamson #23 and Logan Julien #85J in row three. Together in row four were Bryce Norris #37 and Cole Macedo #2c.
It was a cool and beautiful fall evening in Indiana as the action was about to heat up World of Outlaws style. After the national tour’s four-wide salute to the fans in the stands as well as those tuning in on DIRTVision, it was “go time” at Lincoln Park Speedway! David Gravel dropped the hammer off turn four as the Hoosier State air filled with the sweet sound of 410 racing engines.
After the first lap though it was Buddy Kofoid racing into the lead on the low side ahead of David Gravel, Darin Naida, Bill Balog, and Garet Williamson completing the top five. Running in the eighth position early after a good start to the race, Carson was balancing aggression and patience as there was tight racing action everywhere around Lincoln Park Speedway.
On lap 2, the red lights turned on for second starting Darin Naida whose night ended after getting up over the cushion sending him flipping to a stop. He was ok but could not resume racing. Buddy Kofoid and David Gravel would pull side-by-side on the front row for the restart with the driver of the #83 getting the edge as they came back up to speed.
The action was short-lived though as Chris Windom and Hunter Schuerenberg #55 spun in turn four before another lap could be completed. They would try again with the Penngrove, California driver of the Roth Enterprises #83 re-assuming the top spot ahead of Gravel with Carson using the opportunity to move by Bryce Norris into the seventh position.
Carson was now behind the TwoC Racing entry his younger brother was wheeling. He was laser focused on putting the red car from Oklahoma behind him and made pass for position on lap 8. He now turned his attention to tracking down Logan Julien for the last spot in the top five.
Up front the action was heating up too as second running David Gravel was pressuring Buddy Kofoid for the lead. On lap 13, the defending World of Outlaws champion moved the Big Game Motorsports #2 into the lead with the Roth Motorsports driver now engaged in chase mode.
Meanwhile, Carson moved the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 by Logan Julien for fifth place and started to dig hard with more passes on his mind. He was relaxed and having fun until the yellow flag came out for Sterling Cling #34 who spun around to a stop on the track. Before they could get back up to speed again, the yellow flag was back out for Terre Haute, Indiana’s Bryce Norris.
There were 10 laps to go, and the green flag was back out with David Gravel in the lead with Kofoid and Balog right behind. Carson was up on the wheel and moved by Williamson into fourth place as the action was fierce and crazy from the front of the field to the back to the pack. What a track. What a show.
On lap 30, Carson had some speed and carried his momentum by Bill Balog into the show position with Gravel and Kofoid still duking it out in front of him as the laps were winding down. Gravel had the edge, but Kofoid was determined to make the end of this race entertaining.
With one lap to go, the red flag came out for Brady Bacon who climbed out of his car and was ok. It would be a green-white-checkered shootout for the win at Lincoln Park with Gravel and Kofoid on the main card as Carson Macedo waited in the wings in third with Bill Balog in fourth. Before the show could restart, the yellow was back out for Sheldon Haudenschild who retired to the pit area.
The green flag flew again with Gravel driving back into the clean air out front as he soon exchanged position with Kofoid. Gravel was leading, then Kofoid, before Gravel turned back underneath him to regain the lead as they raced under the white flag. Things were now cooking.
Buddy Kofoid was letting it all hang out as he charged around the top of the first set of corners and led Gravel down the backstretch. Carson was watching the action in front of him unfold from the third spot. Kofoid entered turn three high with Gravel working from the middle sliding up to the cushion in turn four trying to reclaim the lead. Kofoid tried to race back around on the top side with his left front tire making contract with Gravel’s right rear sending him spinning to a stop after the hard racing deal.
The yellow flag came out coupled with the checkered flag awarding David Gravel the win as Carson Macedo inherited the runner-up position on the last lap after the last turn incident. Bill Balog was also a benefactor as he joined Gravel and Macedo on the podium racing home with a well-deserved third place run. Cole Macedo crossed the finish line fourth with Garet Williamson securing a top five finish.
After the race, Carson was all smiles after having a blast at Lincoln Park Speedway. When speaking with Conner Wade he explained the end of the race, “I was just in the cat bird seat hoping maybe calamity would happen and I could squeeze in for the win.” He continued, “From what I saw, it was just a racing deal. A guy really going for it there. I didn’t think it was going to work, and it didn’t.” Nonetheless, it was another good run for Macedo and the forty-one!
Carson and the traveling tour competitors will be back in action at LaSalle Speedway in Illinois on Saturday night in the LaSalle Showdown. Come out and be part of the action or tune in on DIRTVision.
