PEDAL DOWN IN OHIO: CARSON MACEDO MASHES HIS RIGHT FOOT TO POWER HIS WAY TO A 12TH PLACE FINISH ABOARD THE BORDER INTERNATIONAL #41 MAXIM ON THE OPENING NIGHT OF #LETSRACETWO IN THE BUCKEYE STATE

ROSSBURG, OHIO (May 15, 2026) – Carson Macedo and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series of traveling stars of the sport were finally back in the “Buckeye State” after their initial visit at Attica Raceway Park and Sharon Speedway in April canceled due to weather. The teams navigated through the agricultural fields in the northwest corner of Ohio before turning into the dirt lane that leads them to the backstretch pit entrance located just before turn three at Eldora Speedway. Each of the haulers took turns rolling down the hill into the paved pit area. They at this gem of a track joined by the USAC Sprint Cars for the popular two night #LetsRaceTwo presented by LGMG North America at the famous and beautiful high-banked oval that Earl and Berniece Baltes built before selling it to racing icon Tony Stewart to continue the excellent racing tradition today. A total of 35 410 sprint car race teams lined up in the pit area on Friday night prepared to put on an incredible speed show World of Outlaws style. It was time to fire the engines in Ohio!

It was time to fire the engines in Ohio for Race//Ready Hot Laps where each driver gets two or three laps at speed to evaluate the track and their setups before Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. Based on the random pill draw where the JJR #41 team drew the ‘30’ pill, Carson would be the 20th driver out on the track behind the wheel of the Border International/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/KSE Racing Products #41 Maxim. He waited patiently in the staging lane and when Tyler Courtney in the NOS Energy Drink/Clausen Marshall Racing (CMR) #7BC and Zach Hampton #97 concluded their measured circuits it was time for the brothers from Lemoore, California to stomp on the loud pedal with both Carson Macedo and Cole Macedo #2C making their way around Eldora Speedway. When Carson darted by the flagstand the clock began to churn as it measured his time through the duration of his initial lap. The wind was blowing as he worked his lines and powered his way back to the start/finish line ending his first lap in 13.482 seconds. His speed carried him back into turn one as he hustled out of turn two and down the back straightaway one last time. He exited turn four with speed ending lap two in 13.544 seconds. Carson’s first lap was the quicker of his two attempts positioning him 18th quick overall on the speed charts. The man standing tall at the top of the list with the fastest lap to earn the Simpson Quick Time Award was Logan Schuchart in the Shark Racing/Drydene #1s after circling the half mile in 13.242 seconds.

Using each driver’s best lap from Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying they were assigned to one of the four starting lineups for the 8-lapHeat races. When the lineups posted, the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Team Jack Foundation/Pro Powder Coating #41 with Carson behind the wheel would start from the fifth position in The Greatest Store on Dirt Heat Race #2 where he would begin his journey alongside Rico Abreu in the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) #24 entry in row three The talented Golden State duo paced behind another Californian Logan Seavey #87X and a Floridian Conner Morrell #28M in row two with Tanner Holmes #13 (Oregon) and Daison Pursley #9 (Oklahoma) rolling at the front of the field. Looking at the third row starter’s tail tanks from row four were Brady Bacon #21 (Oklahoma) and Zach Hampton #97 (Indiana) with Ashton Torgerson (Arizona) in the Three Stooges Racing #51 alone in row five prepared to stand on the gas.

The field of cars rolled down the backstretch and upon arrival in turn four these talented racers pedaled down as they raced towards the waving green flag. Daison Pursley seized the early race lead ahead of Tanner Holmes with Rico Abreu charging into the third spot from his outside row three starting spot on the grid. The speeds here are breath taking, but sprint car fans absolutely love the action. Carson had his elbows up maneuvering the high banks from fifth place after getting shuffled back to seventh momentarily at the start.

Rico Abreu had a fast hotrod and on lap 3 moved into the lead with a move underneath Daison Pursley in the Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) #9. Running in the last spot in the top five, Carson closed in on fourth place running Conner Morrell. He would get close but just could not make the pass for position.

Eight laps around this place do not take long and before you could blink an eye Rico Abreu raced under the checkered flag to secure the win. Abreu and his TSR #24 team did a tremendous job salvaging a rough start to the night after recording a slower lap in time trials to capture the qualifying race win to secure a spot in the Toyota Dash along with Tanner Holmes who crossed the finish line in second. Daison Pursley finished third with Conner Morrell and Carson Macedo locking down the final two transfer positions out of this Heat race.

The air horn sounded throughout the pit area as the 24 drivers who made the main event began to climb into their high speed offices for the opening night’s 30-lap #LetsRaceTwo presented by LGMG North America feature at Eldora Speedway. Brian Brown #21 and Giovanni Scelzi #77 were on the front row followed by Brenham Crouch #5 and Logan Schuchart #1s. Side-by-side in row three were Donny Schatz #15 and Buddy Kofoid #83 with Rico Abreu #24 and Tanner Holmes #13 rolling behind them from row four. Each of these eight drivers raced for their starting positions in the Toyota Dash.

Poised and ready to go from his 18th starting spot, Carson pulled the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Brown & Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS)/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim to the outside of Sye Lynch #42 in row nine. He had the chin strap on his custom painted Bell Helmet secured as he flipped the shield down when the flagman showed the rolled up white flag indicating the feature field would see the green one the next time by.

When they reached the chalk line laid across turn four polesitter Brian Brown in the FVP/Casey’s #21 mashed the gas to start the heart pumping action at the House that Earl Built. It was a drag race down the front straightaway and into turn one with Giovanni Scelzi to his outside. When the first lap finished the top five reflected Brown as the race leader followed by Scelzi, Kofoid, and Crouch with Schatz in command of the fifth position. Carson was battling with Creed Kemenah #15 and Chris Windom #7s racing from the 16th spot in the running order.

The next time around the half mile, Giovanni Scelzi drove the Chili’s/Spire Motorsports #77 into the top spot with Brown and Kofoid in hot pursuit. Two laps later Kofoid would move the Roth Enterprises #83 by Brian Brown to take over the runner-up position.

By lap 6, Carson raced his way up to 14th place in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 and was now running directly behind his brother Cole Macedo in the TwoC Racing machine. He was focused and hard at work from his high speed office making speed and passing cars.

Up front, things continued to be interesting and fast paced. Buddy Kofoid had a fast racecar and started to pressure Scelzi for the race lead. He made his move on lap 13 scooting by with Rico Abreu closing quick on them. They were the trio at the front when the crossed flags were shown but Rico Abreu made a two for one pass to take over the lead on lap 16. Carson was battling with Creed Kemenah for 13th place as the two exchanged the position over the course of the next three laps.

On lap 21, the only caution of the race came out for tenth running Brenham Crouch who made hard contact with the outside wall exiting turn four folding his front end as he sat helplessly on the front straightaway right under the flagstand awaiting a tow truck. Carson would restart from the 12th position behind Sheldon Haudenschild. Rico Abreu was in the race lead and would bring them back up to speed with Kofoid, Scelzi, Schuchart, and Schatz in pursuit mode. Carson was able to gain a spot the next time by the flagstand as this number forty-one was sandwiched between Sheldon Haudenschild #17 and David Gravel #2 on the scoreboard as they dueled out on the track. The next lap though he drove his JJR entry into the top ten making his way by the NOS Energy Drink/KCP Racing #18 of Haudenschild.

With five laps to go, Rico Abreu was still out front leading the way. Carson was trying to track down Cole Macedo for a better position with David Gravel right behind him. The driver of the Big Game Motorsports #2, who started 22nd in the field, wanted the lower numbered position and took it with Carson battling back to reclaim it. But when the two raced under the checkered flag to end the competition, David Gravel continued to battle and snuck by Carson beating him to the finish line by just 0.026 seconds to claim 11th place. That positioned Carson with a 12th place finish to end the tough night. It was an all-California podium with Rico Abreu collecting the win ahead of Buddy Kofoid and Giovanni Scelzi to end night one of #LetsRaceTwo with Aaron Reutzel and Logan Schuchart rounding out the top five.

As if one night at Eldora Speedway is not enough, Carson and the JJR #41 team will be back at the “Big E” on Saturday night for the capstone of the #LetsRaceTwo presented by LGMG North America weekend. The event will be streamed live on DIRTVision if you do not attend the race. Tune in so you do not miss any action. #LetsRaceTwo
