ONE BULLRING TO ANOTHER: ENTERTAINING RACING ON THESE MIDWEST BULLRINGS BUILDS CHARACTER AS MACEDO SHOWS HIS WEST COAST PROWESS WITH RUN FORWARD AT TRI-STATE SPEEDWAY
HAUBSTADT, INDIANA (April 26, 2025) – When the checkered flag flew at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night, Carson Macedo raced the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 to a third finish with Kyle Larson capturing the victory. Philip, Adam, and Robby loaded the Maxim Racing speed chariot into the hauler and made the four-and-a-half-hour drive to Tri-State Speedway, another entertaining high banked bullring located just off U.S. Highway 41 in Haubstadt, Indiana, for the World of Outlaws Haubs Town Showdown. This demanding, quarter-mile Hoosier State facility is one of the best racetracks in the country. It always puts on a great show as the owner and track personnel work tirelessly to give the racers the best surface possible to compete on when they come to town. Carson has had success here in the past winning three straight races from June 2020 through April 2022 and following that up with two fourth place finishes in 2023 and 2024. The last two years has seen Brady Bacon go back-to-back to upend the traveling stars ending the night on top of the podium at this show. There were 27 teams here on Saturday night looking to dethrone the talented Oklahoma native and racer in 2025.
Earlier in the evening, each team had drawn a number in the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw to determine where they would go out for their two-time trial laps in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. World of Outlaws, and sprint car racing legend, Sammy Swindell holds the one lap record here at Tri-State Speedway at 11.110 seconds set way back on October 8, 2004. That would be a tough record to touch, but there were twenty-seven drivers up for the task. Carson Macedo, driving the Tarlton and Son/Team Jack Foundation/Bandy & Associates #41 Maxim, would be the 19th speedster to evaluate his talent and skills at Tri-State Speedway against the rapidly moving second hand of the clock. When series point leader David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 ended his session, Carson was eager to get up to speed as he pushed off in the staging lane. He gripped the steering wheel with his K1 Race Gear gloves and lowered the shield on his Bell Helmet. He was up to speed quickly as he roared down the front straightaway. He did his best to make his way around the quarter mile, timing in at 13.177 seconds at the end of his first lap. He continued to hustle with his elbows high as he made his way around the tight turns. He blasted dirt as his Hoosier Racing Tires gripped the surface off turn four and help drive him across the finish line in 13.045 seconds. Carson’s second lap was the better of his two attempts but only positioned him16th quick overall on the final speed charts. Turning the quickest lap of the night to earn the Simpson Quick Time Award at Tri-State Speedway was Sheldon Haudenschild chauffeuring the Stenhouse Jr./Marshall Racing NOS Energy Drink #17 showing off his speed with a lap of 12.660 seconds.

Each of the driver’s best time in time trial qualifying positioned them in one of the starting lineups of the three 10-lap Heat races. When scanning the lineups, the “41 – CARSON MACEDO” appeared in the first NOS Energy Drink Heat race where he would start from the outside of row three in the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/BR Motorsports/Mr. Jim’s Racing #41 sharing the row with fellow Central Valley of California racer Giovanni Scelzi in the KCP Racing/Aspen Aire #18. Quick timer, Sheldon Haudenschild #17, was on the pole flanked by ten-time WoO Champion Donny Schatz #15 on the front row. Bill Balog #17B and Emerson Axsom #27 were together in row two. Conner Morrell #28M and Carson Short #21 were paired up in row four with Adyn Schmidt #12s pacing behind in row five.
The racing action here calls for courage. Without that inner drive, these drivers would not even be able to compete. There is certainly not a lot of room for the drivers of these open-wheel, nine hundred horsepower beasts to race with everyone chasing the same goal – the checkered flag. But these talented athletes and lovers of speed embrace the challenge. It was time to go racing at Tri-State Speedway!
The field of talent was pacing slowly until they hit the chalk stripe in turn four. The chalk dust flew as the polesitter dropped the hammer to blast down the frontstretch.
Sheldon Haudenschild quickly seized the lead ahead of Schatz and Axsom with Carson moving into the fifth position with Scelzi just ahead of him. The driver of the KCP Racing entry was fast and would soon move by both Axsom and Schatz into the runner-up position.
Carson was now just behind fourth running Emerson Axsom. Every position on the track equated to three positions in the feature lineup. He was up on the wheel of the Albaugh – Your Alternative entry hungry to take the spot away the Franklin, Indiana driver. He would close in, but the opening would soon close.
Sheldon Haudenschild raced to the Heat race win crossing under the checkered flag 2,274 seconds ahead of Giovanni Scelzi. Both of those drivers would advance onto the Toyota Dash out of the first Heat race. Donny Schatz came home third as Emerson Axsom held off the hard charging Carson Macedo at the line crossing it just 0.033 seconds ahead of Macedo.

If the racing action to this point of the night did not stress your heart, you may require a pacemaker to be installed as backup, for safety purposes only of course, for the upcoming 40-lap World of Outlaws Haubs Town Showdown feature because the action was about to go off-the-charts. There were only twenty-four drivers who earned a spot in the lineup for the feature finale as they rolled out onto the track.
The front row featured two talented racers, Sheldon Haudenschild #17, and Indiana native Parker Price-Miller #11, with Buddy Kofoid #83 and Tyler Courtney #7BC right behind in the second row with Cole Macedo #2c and Giovanni Scelzi #18 in row three. If that was not impressive enough there were more big names throughout the remaining nine rows that are etching their mark in the sport such as Schatz, Gravel, Windom, Bacon, and Schuchart.
Carson would get the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Xtreme Body and Paint/Vortex Racing Products #41 Maxim rolling from the thirteenth starting position in the field. The Lemoore, California native had some work to do but was up for the task ahead. After the four-wide salute to the fans in the stands and those tuning in on DIRTVision, the drivers rearranged themselves in the traditional two-by-two starting formation in anticipation of the green flag to wave.
The air filled with the low grumble of the engines as they paced down the back straightaway. Off turn four the ambiance at Tri-State Speedway changed quickly as the front row starters snarled towards the first turn. Haudenschild led the opening lap followed closely behind by Kofoid and Price-Miller.
With one lap in the books, Carson maintained his starting spot position in the running order aboard the Albaugh #41 pressuring Garet Williamson #23 for a better spot on the scoreboard. It would take him a few laps, but on the fourth circuit both he and Williamson moved by Chris Windom #7s to gain track position.
The next time around, lap 5, Carson gained another spot as he worked his way by Williamson to move one spot out of the top ten.
On lap 11, the caution flag flew for Adyn Schmidt #12s who was off the pace with a mangled up left front wheel after absorbing some racing contact off turn four with Logan Schuchart #1s. Sheldon Haudenschild would lead Buddy Kofoid and Tyler Courtney back up to speed with everyone else following.
Carson was able to use the reset to move into the top ten as he rolled by Donny Schatz to take over the spot. He continued his charge forward using his momentum to move by Kyle Cummins #3P and David Gravel #2 for the moment, too.
On lap 16, the yellow flag flew again, this time for Zach Hampton #6 who sat sideways with front end damage in turn four. With twenty-four laps remaining, Sheldon Haudenschild was back up to speed with the remaining field giving chase. Kyle Cummins and David Gravel moved by Macedo to take their positions back on the restart. Carson would be able to get back around Gravel and Price-Miller and was running in the eighth position just after the halfway point of the race. Parker Price-Miller would fight back as the two young racers exchanged the position back and forth over the next few laps.
With ten laps to go, Sheldon Haudenschild was still out front with Kofoid and Courtney racing behind him. Carson was running in eighth place. He was dueling with David Gravel who eventually made his way by with six laps to go. Up front the leader was under pressure from Kofoid but doing his job to hold him off.
With five laps to go, the yellow flag came out to slow the action when Adyn Schmidt #12s and Skylar Gee #99 spun in turn two. There was 1.25 miles of racing left at Tri-State Speedway when the green flag came back out.
They ripped off three more laps before the yellow flag flew for the last time when fifth running Kyle Cummins spun off run four collecting sixth running Cole Macedo to end both of their nights. It would be a green-white-checkered finish at the bullring.
The green cloth was back out and Sheldon Haudenschild raced to his first win of the 2025 season crossing the finish line ahead of Buddy Kofoid and Tyler Courtney who finished third. Emerson Axsom raced home fourth with David Gravel rounding out the top five.
Carson Macedo was able to secure the sixth position with Giovanni Scelzi, Logan Schuchart, Brady Bacon, and Parker Price-Miller rounding out the top ten. Another persistent and determined run for Macedo and the forty-one!
