Awesome Night At Cocopah Speedway Garners The Winner’s Check (With Bonus For Sweep) And Fourth Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Championship For Ragin’ Cajun
YUMA, Arizona (November 9, 2013) – Wow! These are the nights you work so hard for during the off-season and when you are putting in the many hours that are required to maintain the car throughout the season as you drive from race venue to race venue across the United States. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing/HM Racing/JJR team were back at Cocopah Speedway on Saturday night looking to lock up not only the $20,000 winner’s check with an additional $5,000 bonus on the line if he swept the four races in the Cocopah Cup Challenge, but they were also looking to secure their fourth Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Championship. The Roush Yates Engines/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 Maxim was locked into the 30 lap A-Main. As the team watched qualifying unfold, they had their Ford sitting quietly in the pit area ready to roar. The Louisiana chauffeur climbed into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System and buckled his Crow Enterprizes safety equipment. He then pulled on his Shell Shock painted Aria Helmet and received one last word of encouragement from his crew chief, Philip Dietz, before flipping his visor down. It was go time. He started on the outside of row two and when the green flag waved Tony Bruce, Jr. jumped out into the lead. Jason was in third for the first eight laps, but he would duck under Logan Forler to steal the runner-up spot on the next circuit before making the pass for the lead on lap ten. Bruce would fall from contention due to mechanical issues, but Forler was right on his tail tank in the all green event. The two drivers drag raced down the straightaways as they raced for the bottom lane as it was the fastest way around the oval. The Ragin’ Cajun made it their first and crossed the finish line as he won the race and the 2013 championship. It is his fourth ASCS National Tour championship. The jubilant driver and team celebrated their $25,000 win in victory lane as Jason stood atop his Vortex Racing Products top wing with his son Jaxx saluting the packed house at Cocopah. In victory lane, the humble driver from Eunice, Louisiana, lauded his race team, “It just speaks volumes about this team and what they accomplished.” Although the driver won the race, it certainly takes a full team to win a championship. A team that is made up of great people and organizations – the driver, the crew, and all of the valued sponsorship partners that are part of the Stenhouse Jr. Racing/HM Racing/JJR team. A great night. A championship night. A well earned night of recognition and accomplishments for Jason and the team!
Johnson Parks It In Victory Lane In Round Three Of Cocopah Cup Challenge Race
YUMA, Arizona (November 8, 2013) – When the game is on the line, champions step up and score. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team arrived at Cocopah Speedway for the third round of the Cocopah Cup Challenge focused and determined on continuing their winning ways at the 3/8th mile oval in which they took the first two rounds back in early March. Additionally, there was the season long points race that has been heavily contested by fellow competitor and hard charger Johnny Herrera. Pulling the highest pill in bin to start the night positioned the MSD Performance/Waco Metals #41 Maxim in the very last starting spot in heat five as 40 other cars picked a lower number. Not deterred, the Ragin’ Cajun powered up his Roush Yates Ford and forged his way forward when the green flag waved. He along with Tony Bruce, Jr. had their elbows up as they made their charge to the front of the pack. Bruce would get to the finish line first, with the driver of the Kinsler Fuel Injection #41 speed machine crossing the stripe with an impressive third place finish from the back. Earning enough points to make the A-Main redraw, the pill he selected was much better than the first one he picked earlier in the night as he selected the lowest pill to earn the right to start on the pole of the 25-lap feature event. When the field came off turn four, the roar of the engines filled the air as the Louisiana hot shoe dove under outside front row starter Tony Bruce, Jr. to take the lead. He was trucking in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Fuel Safe Racing Cells mount as he extended his lead each and every lap. After a few race cautions throughout the race bunched up the field, he would accelerate away from everyone when the green reappeared. As the remaining laps waned, trouble started to brew under the hood as he dropped a cylinder but he stayed on the gas and crossed the line 3.675 seconds ahead of second place finisher Danny Lasoski. The happy driver and crew, including Jaxx, celebrated their ninth ASCS National Tour win of the season and eleventh overall as they turned their attention to Round #4 of the Cocopah Cup Challenge which pays $20,000 to the winner. If Jason can capture the win to complete the sweep, he will pocket an additional $5,000 and secure the ASCS National Tour’s season long points title for the fourth time in his career. He is locked in to Saturday night’s finale and is definitely ready to roll.
Stenhouse Jr. Team Makes Necessary Repairs As Cajun Sensation Drives Back To A Ninth Place Finish On Night Two Of Border Wars
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (November 2, 2013) – The team pulled out of El Paso and made the 45 mile trek across the border to New Mexico for night two of Border War action at Southern New Mexico Speedway’s 3/8th-mile clay oval. There were 32 cars ready to roll on Saturday night. One of those was the competitor from Eunice, Louisiana, who now calls Rocky Mount, Missouri home, in the AccuDoc Solutions/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim. The 3-time ASCS National points champion and current points leader was ready to get started as he was slated to start in the last and final starting spot of the third heat race based on the pill draw. With his Roush Yates Ford power plant nestled under his hood he secured his Crow Enterprizes safety harness and pushed on to the speedway’s surface with confidence he could move forward. When it was go time he stood on the accelerator and he was off. After eight quick laps around the track, the Cajun Sensation would finish in the sixth spot. But, after heat race winner Cole Wood was disqualified by ASCS officials for reportedly not going to the scales he was scored with a fifth place finish. The Cajun driver did his job as he garnered enough passing points to lock himself into the 30 lap A-Main event. At feature time, he rolled on to the speedway in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/K&N Filters entry and lined up on the outside of row seven. When the racers finally got going in the feature, Kolt Walker and Cody Mansfield flipped in turns three and four collecting Jason in the Kenny’s Components #41. Fortunately, what looked to be a negative was turned into a positive as the Stenhouse Jr. Racing crew was hard at work replacing the Vortex Racing Products wings and making all of the necessary repairs so he could rejoin the back of the field. He is a fierce racer, so as determined as ever he went to work inside the cockpit of his Maxim. He was making progress, even with a broken front wing, and before the race ended he had worked his way into the top ten. When race winner David Gravel secured the win, Jason was able to fight back and secure a ninth place finish. The driver’s and team’s hard work and efforts combined with Johnny Herrera’s third place finish trimmed Jason’s lead in the ASCS National season long point standings to 56 points with two races to go in the 2013 season.
A Solid Sixth Place Finish To Start Off The Border War Weekend In ASCS National Tour Action For The Ragin’ Cajun
EL PASO, Texas (November 1, 2013) – Jason and the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series made their way to the desert for the first of two nights of Border War action. The first night would take place at El Paso Speedway Park, which is a 3/8th-mile, semi banked clay oval. The ASCS competitors certainly were not alone as a total of 34 cars lined the pit area ready to fill the air with the sweet rumble of their engines. The Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Weld Racing Wheels #41 Maxim was fresh and ready for some high speed left turn racing. Starting at the tail of the second heat race, the 3-time ASCS National champion and current points leader was buckled into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System ready to roll. When the green was displayed it was quickly replaced by the red flag when Brandon Schure got upsidedown on the initial start. When racing did get going the Louisiana driver used his Roush Yates Ford power to accelerate up to speed and start moving up the scoreboard. When the eight laps were completed and officials scored the event, the Ragin’ Cajun was scored sixth which generated enough passing points to lock him into the 30 lap A-Main. The crew went to work on the car to prepare it for the feature event. Starting from the sixteenth starting spot, Jason had some work to do but was prepared to put in the sweat equity to put on a show for the fans. Front row starters Kolt Walker and Christopher Bell brought the field to the green as the Cajun chauffeur maneuvered the Fischer Body Shop/Vortex Racing Products machine from further back in the field. Some early race stoppages allowed the team to tweak the setup and when they went back to green he quickly made his way into the top ten as he kept the accelerator down to pick off one car at a time. He was able to make his way up as high as fifth place before finishing in the sixth position when the checkered flag flew for race winner Christopher Bell. A quality night of racing allowed him to extend his point lead to 78 points over runner-up Johnny Herrera with three races to go. The team will be back in action on Saturday night across the state line in Las Cruces, New Mexico at Southern New Mexico Speedway. Come out and catch some exciting racing action!
Jason And Team Head Out Of October And Short Track Nationals With A Focus On The Final ASCS National Tour Events
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (October 26, 2013) – With105 cars entered and only 24 starting spots in the A-Main finale, the Short Track Nationals presents it challenges to even the best drivers. A good qualifying night combined with a little lady luck certainly goes a long way at this prestigious event. After Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing #41 team had a difficult qualifying effort on Thursday night, they were back at the track on Saturday night where they were scheduled to start tenth in one of the C-Mains that advanced four drivers forward to the tail of one of the two B-Main events. With clouds and rain forecasted all day it seemed as though the weather would hold off, but in the middle of Saturday night’s action the skies opened up and drenched the facility making for quite a muddy facility. Track promoters and ASCS officials did a terrific job after the rain hit the track to get the track prepared and ready to put on the remainder of the 26th Annual COMP Cams Short Track National show. With a very wet and heavy race track, and a not so favorable starting spot, the team made the decision to focus their time and equipment on the final four ASCS National point races at El Paso Speedway Park and Southern New Mexico Speedway next weekend followed by two nights at Cocopah Speedway in Yuma, Arizona to cap off the season the following weekend. With a 66 point lead over Johnny Herrera, the Louisiana born driver and team will head down the road and focus on competing at their best to win their fourth ASCS National title. Be sure to come out and catch the exciting ASCS National Tour racing action the next few weekends!
A Fourth Place Run In B-Main Brings Early End To Cajun’s Run On Qualifying Night At Short Track Nationals
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (October 24, 2013) – With the 100 plus entries in the field split it half for qualifying, it was time to start the competition for the 26th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals at Hammer Hill. There were 47 cars racing for 20 starting spots in the A-Main on the first of two nights of qualifying action. The Stenhouse Jr. Racing #41 started the second heat from the front row and after the initial start was called back, Sean McClelland jumped into the lead on the restart and led the distance finishing ahead of Jason in the Jonestown KOA/Weld Racing Maxim. Next up were the qualifier races as the Ragin’ Cajun started third in the second qualifier on a track that proved to be tough to pass on. He was in a wheel-to-wheel battle most of the race with Brian Brown and Christopher Bell for the fourth spot as the three high speed chauffeurs put on a quite a show for the fans in the stands. Jason came out on the wrong end of the battle as he finished sixth in the qualifier race. Forced into the second of three B-Main events to try to get into the feature event, the reigning ASCS National Tour champion climbed into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System and buckled his Crow Enterprizes safety harness ready to get his elbows up from the fifth position. Needing to run in the top two, when the green flag waved he went to work inside the cockpit of his Maxim. Searching low and then moving high trying to find some traction to get some forward bite and speed to make a pass. When the checkered flag flew over the event, he was able to advanced one spot to finish fourth, which unfortunately brought his qualifying night to an early end. Jason and the team will regroup and try to run through the alphabet races on Saturday night to make their way into the Short Track Nationals.
A Twelfth Place Finish In The Inaugural Short Track Nationals Open at I-30 Speedway For The Stenhouse Jr. Racing #41
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (October 23, 2013) – There were 95 cars in the pits at I-30 Speedway vying for one of the 24 coveted spots in the A-Main field for the Inaugural Short Track Nationals (STN) Open at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. One of those cars belonged to Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team, and they were ready get after it on Joe and Tracey Clay’s tight and racy 1/4-mile oval. With ten heat races set for the competitors, the goal was to either be one of the heat winners or one of the top eight in points who did not win a heat race to lock into the A-Main. The 2006 STN champion from Eunice, Louisiana lined his Roush Yates Engines/K&N Filters Maxim up on the pole in the fourth heat race. This heat race alone featured three past STN champions – Jason, Sammy Swindell, and Jason Sides – which exemplifies just how competitive this event truly is from a competition perspective. When the green flag waved, Jason got his Hoosier Racing Tires moving as he powered to the top spot and used the lower part of the speedway’s turns to seize and build his lead in the ten lap event. He went on to take the win over Swindell, Sides, and Terry McCarl. The A-Main was lined up according to points earned in qualifying, which relegated the beautifully prepared Durst/Lincoln Auto Auctions #41 to the inside of row nine in the 17th starting position. Front row starters Tim Crawley and Tony Bruce, Jr. got the field up to speed as Jason focused through the shield of his Shell Shock painted Arai Helmet as he pounded the loud pedal. He was on the move. The laps go by quickly on this short track and he was using a combination of throttle control and taking advantage of opportunities to gain spots in the running order. Danny Lasoski would take the win as Jason advanced five spots in the field to finish twelfth in the Inaugural STN Open twenty five lap event. The team will now work hard to put their car and driver in the 26th Annual Short Track Nationals during their Thursday qualifying night.
Cajun Perseveres At Devil’s Bowl To Bring Home An Eighth Place Finish In 40th Annual Winter Nationals And Extends Point Lead
MESQUITE, Texas (October 19, 2013) – Racing at Devil’s Bowl is always competitive and fun. After Friday night’s action at Devil’s Bowl was lost at Mother Nature’s expense, there were 50 drivers and teams from a dozen states ready to race in the 40th Annual Winter Nationals. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were ready to get back on the track after a few week hiatus. Jason always likes to race at Devil’s Bowl and has enjoyed some success there in the past. On this night they had The Shop Diesel Service/Gleco Plating Inc. Maxim ready for some high speed action around Da’ Bowl. Starting in the eighth and final starting spot in the fifth heat race, Jason pounded the right pedal at the green as his Roush Yates Ford delivered the necessary horsepower to allow him to start stealing one spot at a time in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 go machine. When the checkered flag was displayed after eight quick laps, he crossed the line with a hard fought fourth place finish. Not generating enough points to make the redraw, he locked himself into the thirteenth starting spot for the 30-lap A-Main. Front row starters Wayne Johnson and Tony Bruce, Jr. brought the field to the green as the drivers further back in the field started to search for ways to make their way forward. With a traffic jam running around the low line, drivers were forced to make a go at it in other lanes around the half-mile speedway. An early caution regrouped the field and on the restart Brian Brown seized the lead. Jason was methodically, and patiently, making his way forward. The race would go green again and after a mid-race red flag stopped the field the Louisianan found himself in the top ten. Never content, when the racing action went back to green flag speed he was looking to get what he could on a track that passing proved to be at a premium. When Brian Brown raced under the checkered flag, Jason had made his way up to eighth on this night at Devil’s Bowl in the The Shop Diesel Service/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) entry. It was his 60th top ten finish of 2013, an impressive 75% top ten success rate. His evening of work and focus enabled him to extend his point lead in the season long ASCS National Tour point standing to 66 points over second place Johnny Herrera. The team will now prepare and head to the prestigious 26th Annual Short Track Nationals, which kicks off Wednesday night with the inaugural Short Track Nationals Open.
A Fourth Place Finish At Hockett/McMillin Memorial Finale For The Stenhouse Jr. Racing Forty One Team
WHEATLAND, Missouri (September 29, 2013) – After rain washed out Saturday night’s racing action, postponing the action until Sunday night, 48 drivers from 16 different states were back at Lucas Oil Speedway to compete in the finale of the 2013 edition of the Hockett/McMillin Memorial race. After a strong run on Friday night from his seventeenth starting spot to finish in the fifth position, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were ready to get rolling in their HM Racing/Oakley Ford powered speedster. Starting from the inside of row two in the first heat race, Jason pushed the accelerator to call for all the power from his Roush Yates Engine under the hood. It responded and he went on to win the heat race ahead of Wayne Johnson and Evan Martin. For the 30 lap A-Main, the Cajun Sensation would start from the twelfth position in the Durst Inc./Lincoln Auto Auction #41 Maxim. Front row starters Johnny Herrera and Derek Hagar brought the field down to the green flag and the Cajun stuffed his right foot into the gas pedal before the red flew for Brian Bell. On the restart he was back at it as he started to cruise towards the front of the pack working his way into the top ten as the caution flag flew for Wayne Johnson. The Ragin’ Cajun kept working hard from the comfort of his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System as he was pushing to improve his position in the competitive field. A late race caution with two laps to go bunched up the field and gave the Louisianan one last shot to move up in the running order before the checkered flag flew. When the yellow flag was replaced by the green flag, Jason hammered the loud pedal and moved into the fourth spot as he crossed the finish line behind race winner Johnny Herrera, Brian Brown, and Tony Bruce, Jr. Another great run for the forty one driver as he leaves the Diamond of Dirt Tracks leading the ASCS National Tour’s season long points race by 52 points over second place Johnny Herrera.
High Flying Johnson Sets Sail From 17th Starting Spot On First Night Of The Hockett/McMillin Memorial To Finish Fifth
WHEATLAND, Missouri (September 27, 2013) – The Hockett/McMillin Memorial race is one event that every driver wants to not only race in, but wants to win. On Friday night, 52 competitive cars lined the pits ready to race for that coveted win, including the Ragin’ Cajun and the beautifully prepared Mesilla Valley Transportation/Fischer Body Shop #41 machine. After finishing third in his heat race on a narrow racing surface, and all the qualifying races were completed, his qualifying efforts did not generate enough passing points to get him in the A-Main so he started on the pole of the first B feature to attempt to gain a spot in the main event. With 12 laps between him and a spot in the A-Main, no one was stopping him as he powered up his Roush Yates Ford and led from start to finish to take the B-Main victory. Starting from the seventeenth starting spot in the 25 lap A-Main is was gas and go time for the Louisiana hot shoe in the AccuDoc Solutions/ Schoenfeld Headers Maxim. The green flag waved and he was on the move. The Cajun chauffeur was up on the wheel as he pounded the accelerator. It was high speed action and he was making tracks and not looking back as he moved into the top ten early. While race leader Tony Bruce, Jr. paced the field from the front, it was Jason who was capturing everyone’s attention with his charge to the front of the pack. He was not about to slow down as he cracked into the top five with less than ten laps to go and he was working hard to secure the fourth spot. When Tony Bruce, Jr. ran under the checkers he was followed across the line by Brian Brown, Derek Hagar, Roger Crockett, and the Cajun Sensation in his #41 hot rod. His fifth place run netted him the PitStopUSA.com Hard Charger of the night honors, but he just missed out on securing the fourth and final spot to lock into Saturday night’s finale. But, the hard charger put on quite a show and will be back on Saturday night to put on another impressive show for the fans in this special event.
Ragin’ Cajun Captures The Checkered Flag At Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track Right Before The Roosters Woke Up On Sunday Morning
FORT WORTH, Texas (September 21, 2013) – The ASCS Lucas Oil National Tour competitors are known for putting on a show the fans will remember when they wake up the next morning. But last night the fans who stayed didn’t have to have a long memory as the checkered flag flew right before the roosters woke up to start the day on Sunday. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team, along with 45 other competitors, arrived at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track on Saturday night ready to race in the Port-a-Cool U.S. Dirt Track Nationals. As the defending champion of the race, the Louisiana speedster was ready to defend his race title. With each heat race loaded with talent, it was an eight lap dash to the finish. Starting on the outside of the front row in the third heat, Jason wasted very little time powering up his Roush Yates Ford as he took the lead when the green flag waved in The Shop Diesel Service/Gleco Plating Inc. #41. He led throughout the race to bring home the heat race win, earning enough qualifying points to get him in the top eight redraw. He drew the number five pill to start the 30-lap feature from the inside of row three. After wet weather delayed the program the entire night and made the track surface fast and a bit bumpy in spots, the 24 car field was set to take on the 4/10th-mile oval. Front row starters Travis Rilat and Dustin Morgan brought the field to the green flag as Morgan led lap one. The Ragin’ Cajun was holding his position in the top five as Rilat took over the lead on lap seven. The racing action was fast and furious as the driver of the Jonestown KOA Maxim was holding his own and readying himself for the run at the finish. Nineteenth starting Johnny Herrera was on the move and stole the lead on the 23rd circuit. With the clock nearing 4:15 a.m. and the laps running out, the Cajun made his move going into the final turns as Herrera got caught up behind a slower car. Johnson used the low line and Herrera dropped down to pass the slower car. Johnson bounced into Herrera and took the lead coming off four to take the win. The win was his 76th career ASCS National Tour victory and his 236th overall race win. He also was honored as the Hawk Performance Products Fastest Lap of the Night award with a lap of 15.295 seconds. A great win on a late night. But for the fans who stayed to see the end they saw a good one as two great competitors crossed the finish line first and second. And, they certainly had something to talk about over breakfast.
Johnson Stands On The Podium For Third Night In A Row With A Third Place Finish In Nebraska Cup At Eagle Raceway
EAGLE, Nebraska (September 8, 2013) – The Stenhouse Jr. Racing team pulled into Eagle Raceway looking for a three-peat in the Nebraska Cup. The speedster from Eunice, Louisiana won this event back-to-back in 2011 and 2012 and wanted three in a row in 2013 aboard the Lincoln Auto Auction/Durst Inc. #41 Maxim. There were 43 cars in the pits and every driver wanted to win the Nebraska Cup. Names like Lasoski, Brown, Dover, Bruce Jr., Wolfgang, Bergman and Bakker. But in order to win it you had to get into the A-Main through your heats, which was a tall order. The Ragin’ Cajun started seventh in the third heat race. Eight laps and a stout field of competitors stood between him and a starting spot in the feature field. When the green flag waved, he hammered the accelerator and unleashed every pony from his Roush Yates Ford power plant as he chased down the leaders. He was on the move and putting on a show when the checkered flag waved as he followed Jack Dover and pole sitter John Klabunde across the finish line. His efforts earned him enough points to put him in the top eight redraw. He drew the six pill, which put him on the outside of row three for the Nebraska Cup feature event. After going three wide with an incredible pyrotechnics show from the infield, the Cajun was ready to race for the win. On the initial start, Jack Dover and Danny Lasoski held the top two spots, but all eyes were on the two-time Nebraska Cup champion as he powered his way into third early. The front three were putting on an impressive show for the fans as they caught and weaved through lapped traffic. Jason wheeled his KSE Racing Products/ISC Racers Tape #41 right into the mix as he passed Lasoski for the runner-up spot and then put the pressure on Dover for the lead. The two exchange multiple slide jobs before Jason seized the lead with six laps to go. With the white flag in the air for the leader, it was quickly replaced by the yellow bunching up the field. Lasoski was now in second with 15th starting Brian Brown in third. The only thing that stood between him and the three-peat was a green-white-checkered and two eager drivers behind him. On the restart, Lasoski came after the forty one and used the low side in one and two to get the advantage going down the backstretch. The top three wrestled for position as Lasoski crossed the line for the win with Brown second and Jason third. It was Jason’s third podium finish of the weekend and a great show for the fans in attendance.
Second Straight Night On The Podium At 34 Raceway For The Cajun Sensation With His Third Place Run
WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (September 7, 2013) – After charging to a third place finish on night one of MOWA action at 34 Raceway, the Cajun Sensation was eager and ready to get back at it on the fast and racy 3/8th mile semi-banked clay oval on night two. He wasted little time entertaining the fans as he went out and stomped on it in time trials with a speed and time that placed him 7th quick overall. Starting on the outside front row in heat race number two, Jason drove hard in The Shop Diesel Service/Pro Shocks Maxim to seize the early lead. He was on the move and in the lead when his speed and momentum got disrupted momentarily as a lapped car came down across the track allowing Terry McCarl to get around him late for the heat win. His second place run moved him onto the Dash where he started second and finished right behind Danny Lasoski’s #1m in the runner-up position. It was feature time and the driver and Stenhouse Jr. Racing crew were ready to roll from their outside front row starting spot. With the purr of his Roush Yates Ford resonating from his Schoenfeld Headers he paced around the track readying himself for thirty four laps of high speed action. Lasoski seized the lead at the start with Johnson in tow. Behind them Brian Brown was on the move and the front three set sail in that order on the fast race track. Lasoski extended his lead as the top three raced through the lapped traffic which at times was three wide. The masterful wheelmen were putting on a tremendous show for the fans and when the money flag waved it was Lasoski capturing the win ahead of Brown, and Johnson. It was the second straight podium finish for the forty one team and the fourth straight top five. Impressive results for the hard working team and driver of the Valvoline/BMRS entry.
Johnson Heads To 34 Raceway And Finishes Third On First Of Two Nights Of MOWA Racing Action
WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (September 6, 2013) – Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing #41 team headed to 34 Raceway to kick off night one of a two-day show sanctioned by the Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) in the AccuDoc Solutions/Tony Lama Boots Maxim. With the track still heavy, the Louisiana driver pushed off first for time trials in the Roush Yates Engines forty one. He laid down a good time but the track got faster as qualifying went on relegating him to 14th quick overall. When the heat race lineups were set, his Ford would be on the inside of row three in the second heat race around the 3/8th mile oval. When given the green, he went to work and positioned himself behind second place running Brian Brown to setup a battle for the runner-up spot. He was all over Brown but crossed the stripe third behind heat race winner A.J. Bruns and Brown, just missing out on a spot in the dash. In the A-Main, he paced from his tenth starting spot in the Weld Wheels/FK Rod Ends speedster. It was a strong field and when racing went full speed the Cajun got his elbows up and pounded the speed button with his right foot. He was on the move and delivering the mail as he set sail around the racy oval making his way towards the front of the field. He was using every inch of the racing surface to make his way forward, but when the checkered flag was displayed his great run ended with a third place finish as he crossed the finish line behind Danny Lasoski and Brian Brown. A great night of racing for Jason and the team.
Cajun Charges To A Fourth Place Finish In ASCS Warrior Region Competition At Randolph County Raceway
MOBERLY, Missouri (September 1, 2013) – As the calendar flipped to September, the month may have changed but the dedication and determination of Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing/HM Racing/JJR #41 team didn’t waver as they pulled into the pit area at Randolph County Raceway (RCR) ready to compete in ASCS Warrior Region competition. Jonathan Cornell had won on night one of the two-day show, but on this night the formidable likes of Brian Brown, Danny Lasoski, Jeff Swindell, Brad Loyet and Tony Bruce Jr. were all at RCR trying to dethrone him and park it in victory lane. In the fourth heat race, Jason paced the Serratelli Hat Company/Kinsler Fuel Injection #41 Maxim from the front row waiting to take the green for eight fast laps around the oval. He wasted little time showcasing his Roush Yates Ford power when the green lights illuminated as he surged into the lead and led the distance taking the heat race victory. When the 30-lap feature lineup was set he found himself starting on the inside of row seven in the 13th starting spot. With lots of tail tanks in front of him he was eager to start his high flying attack at speed in the Pro Powder Coating/Valvoline speed machine. He wasted little time as he moved his Maxim to the open lanes as the green flag waved and powered his way into the top five by the halfway point. Not content, he continued his forward assault and when the checkers flew he crossed the pay stripe in the fourth position behind Brian Brown, Jeff Swindell, and Jonathan Cornell. His aggressive run netted him the Hard Charger of the Night honors as he passed nine cars and recorded his 33rd top five of the season, a 45.21% top five success rate.
An Eighth Place Finish At Jackson Nationals Caps Off Busy Month Of August For Stenhouse Jr. Racing Team
JACKSON, Minnesota (August 31, 2013) – The month of August was a busy one for Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team as they were in the pits on the last day of the month to close out August at the 35th Annual Jackson Nationals finale. After working hard on Friday night to earn a fourth place finish, the driver and team were locked into the redraw for Saturday’s championship finale in the Xtreme AccuTach/Fuel Safe Racing Cells #41. Jason pulled the six pill and rolled out for the feature where he started from the outside of row three in the 30-lap Protect the Harvest feature event. Polesitter Brian Brown brought the field down the front stretch to take the green flag and the racing action was in fast forward motion. Secured tightly in his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System, Jason pounded his right foot and looked to make passes to improve his position on the scoreboard. The racing was tight for each and every position throughout the field and the red flag was shown early when Scott Winters got upside down hard. When racing resumed, the Louisiana chauffeur was locked in a torrid battle for the fourth position with fellow competitor Jeff Swindell when the two high speed artists unfortunately made contact racing for the spot sending Swindell flipping into the fence. He was okay and when the cars got back up to speed following the red flag period Jason was still racing in the top five. A caution on lap 21 bunch the field together for a short run to the finish. On the restart, the Kenny’s Components/K&N Filters Maxim was still fast, but surrendered a few positions up in the running order as he lost his brakes to finish eighth as Brian Brown took the win over Tony Bruce Jr., Brad Loyet, Logan Forler, and Danny Lasoski. Over the 31 days of August, the team raced 14 times capturing one win and finishing in the top ten nine times. His eighth place run at Jackson was his 52nd top ten of the 2013 season, a 72.22% top ten success rate. The team will now focus on maintaining the ASCS National Tour points lead as they leave Jackson with a 37 point advantage over Johnny Herrera.
JJ Locks Into 35th Annual Jackson Nationals Finale With A Fourth Place Run On The Opening Night Of Action In Minnesota
JACKSON, Minnesota (August 30, 2013) – On a beautiful night in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, the Louisiana native and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team arrived at Jackson Speedway with their number forty one hot rod for the opening night of racing action in the two-day 35th Annual Jackson Nationals. There were 39 cars in the pit area ready to race. The current ASCS National points leader lined up on the outside of row two in the fourth of five heat races. With the 5 winners plus the 11 highest point drivers from the heats advancing to the A-Main, it was go time for the Louisiana right pedal artist. The green flag was shown to the field and Jason used his Roush Yates Ford to power his way forward in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Schoenfeld Headers Maxim. Securing the second spot he pursued Gregg Bakker’s #11x as Bakker led the field around the fast racing surface. When the checkered flag flew, Jason finished in the runner-up spot and advanced into the top eight redraw. Drawing the seven pill put him on the inside of row four for the 25-lap opening night feature event. Front row starter Jeff Swindell jumped into the lead from the start as Jason got up on the wheel of his Valvoline/Fischer Body Shop machine to start his forward assault. With a few early race interruptions, he had time to pause to assess his progress and race strategy under his Shell Shock painted Arai Helmet. When the lights turned green again he started to execute his strategy and plan. When the checkered flag flew he crossed the line in fourth behind race winner Jeff Swindell, Bakker, and Brian Brown. By finishing fourth, he did accomplish one important goal – he was locked into Saturday night’s A-Main finale. But, his night of racing was not over as he was one of eight drivers who participated in the 14-lap Woodke Cup Challenge race to honor the family who helped make the Jackson Nationals become a reality. He would start eighth in the race and put on a show as he entertained the crowd with his driving style as he made his way to an impressive third place finish. The team will now prepare for Saturday night’s 35th Annual Jackson Nationals as they are locked into the premier event’s A-Main.
Cajun Is Sensational At Lexington 104 Speedway As He Parks The Jonestown KOA/Oakley Maxim In Victory Lane
LEXINGTON, Tennessee (August 24, 2013) – For the first time, the ASCS National Tour competitors ventured to Tennessee to race at Lexington 104 Speedway’s 3/8th mile oval, which is located just south of Music Highway off of I-40. The track crew was hard at work preparing the track early when the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team arrived in the pit area. The three-time ASCS champion was focused and ready to roll. The team was working hard to make sure the Jonestown KOA/Oakley #41 Maxim was ready to go fast when the driver called for the Roush Yates Ford horsepower to deliver the speed needed to win. With 18 cars in the pits, the forty one rolled out first to take a time trial lap and stopped the clock at 12.055 seconds, which was 4th quick overall. Time trials were done solely to establish a track record for the speedway’s record books and did not impact the standard ASCS qualifying format. He then started heat one from the pole in his Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) hot rod with Logan Forler to his right. Forler got the jump at the green and led the way over the entire eight laps with Jason right behind at the stripe. Making the redraw based on points earned, he pulled the seven pill which position him on the inside of row four for the 30-lap feature event in the Pro Shocks/MSD Performance speed machine. It did not take long for the fans to realize the Louisiana-born driver was going to be a factor in this event as he pounded the loud pedal and started making his way to the front early using the middle of the speedway. Brad Loyet jumped into the lead at the start on the locked down, fast and racy surface as he had the field covered early, but unfortunately blew a right rear tire and hit the wall on lap 27 relinquishing the lead to the Cajun Sensation who fought his way into the runner-up spot by that point. The forty one led the remainder of the inaugural event to win his 7th ASCS National Tour race of the season and the 75th of his career to date. Under the bright lights of victory lane the Rocky Mount, Missouri resident commented, “I think Brad probably had us covered to be quite honest.” He continued, “Not the way you want to win, but you take them and I am thankful for my crew’s hard work.” As the lights dimmed around Lexington 104 Speedway, Jason and the team continue to lead the tight season long point battle by 16 points over Johnny Herrera as the tour heads to Jackson, Minnesota for the 35th Annual Jackson Nationals next weekend.
A Ninth Place Finish At Hammer Hill For Johnson In The Jonestown KOA/Fischer Body Shop #41 Maxim
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (August 22, 2013) – The Cajun racer and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing #41 team were at Hammer Hill along with 35 other competitors looking to put on an impressive show at Joe and Tracey Clay’s I-30 Speedway. He lined up on the outside front row for the fifth heat race. He jumped into the lead as soon as the green flag waved and used his Ford power to make tracks in the Gleco Plating Inc./Fischer Body Shop #41 Maxim. His Roush Yates engine shined as he led every lap around the 1/4 mile, high banked red clay oval. Just missing accumulating enough points to make the feature redraw for the top eight, he pulled the Valvoline/Jonestown KOA speed machine to the inside of row five to start the 30-lap A-Main from the ninth starting spot. With the cushion on the top pretty thin and the bottom lane racy, it was go time for the full field of drivers. The directions were simple: Pick your lane, pound the gas, and steer your way around whoever is in front of you at I-30 Speedway. Over the first half of the race Cody Gardner led early before Tim Crawley seized the lead as Jason moved into eighth at the midway point. He then made his way up the scoring pylon as he started to pursue the rear nerf bar on Sam Hafertepe Jr.’s #15h and found himself in a three way battle for position with Hafertepe and Derek Hagar. A caution on lap 20 found the Weld Racing/FK Rod Ends #41 slipping back slightly as he paced in the seventh position. When the green was shown again he started the battle again but lost some more ground, and when Tim Crawley took the checkers ahead of Cody Gardner and Jeff Swindell the Cajun Sensation ran across the finish line with a ninth place finish at Hammer Hill.
A Second Place Finish At Salina Highbanks Speedway Puts The Cajun Star On The Podium As The ASCS Competitors Turn Tulsa Pink
SALINA, Oklahoma (August 17, 2013) – On a beautiful and clear day in Oklahoma, the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team pulled into Salina in their royal blue Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) International to race at the 3/8th mile oval. The team was there to put on a show for the fans in the Durst Motorplex/Roush Yates Engines #41. Starting on the outside front row beside Tony Bruce Jr., who experienced mechanical woes early, he wasted very little time putting his Maxim in the front of the pack as he led the way around the racy oval in his Ford Racing entry. He stay hard on the ‘go fast’ button as he took the heat race win by half a straightaway ahead of Brad Loyet, Matt Covington, and Brian Brown. He moved onto the Protect the Harvest A-Main where he again showcased his Winters Performance Products/Kinsler Fuel Injection Maxim on the outside of the front row for the 30-lap finale. When the lights went green, the three-time ASCS Champion powered his way into the lead using the top side of the speedway. He would lead the first twenty laps before Jeff Swindell ducked underneath him as the leaders approached slower traffic to move him to the runner-up spot. Not one to ever give up, the Cajun Sensation stayed focused, pressed the accelerator and traded slide jobs for the lead getting it back on the 25th lap before again surrendering it back to Swindell on the next go round. The two racers would trade multiple slide jobs over the last ten laps to put on an incredible show for the fans. Swindell crossed the line first with the forty one chauffeur right behind and Brad Loyet rounding out the podium finishers. After the race Jason commented, “Man, lapped traffic was hairy. The guys gave me a great Maxim chassis. You sometimes do not know where to go, but that lapped car actually pounded me in the backstretch wall.” Throughout the night Jason laid down the fastest lap at 13.817seconds to be awarded the Hawk Performance Products Fastest Lap of the Night. He commented about the quick surface at Salina, “It is always racy here even when it slicks off. It is definitely an advantage to have our Roush Yates horsepower here at Salina.” As the crew pulled out in their hauler they left with a slim 3-point lead over Johnny Herrera in the season long ASCS National point standings.
Johnson And The Stenhouse Jr. Racing Boys Finish 16th At Junction Motor Speedway Against The World of Outlaws
McCOOL JUNCTION, Nebraska (August 13, 2013) – Racers never rest. At least not the one from Eunice, Louisiana. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were back in the pit area at Junction Motor Speedway on Tuesday night to race against the World of Outlaws in their Valvoline NEXTGEN #41 Maxim. The Louisiana native pushed out sixteenth for his qualifying laps around the 3/8th mile semi-banked dirt oval. Battling some mechanical woes he qualified 19th overall with a lap of 14.022 seconds. After time trials the crew went to work to change the engine forcing them to miss the first heat race and they were scored with an 8th place finish. After the qualifying heats were completed, Jason started the A-Main from the 19th position in the Ford Racing/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41. The track was fast and narrow which meant passing for position would be at a premium. When the green flag finally waved cutting the field loose most competitors went to the top side of the speedway with their right foot planted to the floor board. Steve Kinser jumped out to the early lead as Jason used his Roush Yates Engine to crank up the horsepower from further back in the pack. Thirty laps go by really quick on a 3/8th mile oval at these speeds for the powerful 410 cubic inch sprint cars. The Ragin’ Cajun was able to advance three positions to garner a 16th place finish against the World of Outlaws as Steve Kinser took the win. The team will now refocus and get back to ASCS National Tour action at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma this weekend.
53rd Annual Knoxville Nationals Comes To A Close With A 15th Place Finish In The B-Main
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 10, 2013) – It is Knoxville. It is the Nationals. And, when you combine the two in early August every summer you get the Super Bowl of sprint car racing. There were 109 of the best drivers and teams from across the country, as well as Australia and Canada, that showed up in Iowa to the Sprint Car Capital of the World to complete for the 25 spots in the prestigious 53rd Annual FVP Knoxville Nationals. The Stenhouse Jr. Racing team arrived with high hopes as they unveiled their beautifully prepared Valvoline NEXTGEN #41 Maxim. After a good qualifying night on Wednesday, the team followed it up with another good showing on Friday night in both the Hard Knox program and the Speed Sport News World Challenge. When all was said and done, the three-time ASCS Champion was locked in to the B-Main in the twelfth starting position. Only four car would advance to fill the A-Main field, so the car had to be perfect and your elbows up for 22 laps. Plus, depending on your starting spot you needed a little luck too! After slipping on his Oakley racing gloves, he climbed into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System, buckled his Crow Enterprizes safety belts and pushed out onto the black gumbo clay surface. When Doug Clark waved the green flag he slid up to the top groove as the track began taking rubber. He was holding his position in the field and carrying his forward speed looking to improve his position when Mark Dobmeier got crossed up coming out of four forcing Jason to use his Wilwood Disc Brakes slowing his momentum and costing him some positions in the running order. Throughout the remainder of the event he used his Roush Yates Ford power to make another run at improving his position in the running order but ran out of laps and was scored with a 15th place finish.
A Busy Night Of Work At 53rd Annual Knoxville Nationals Results In A Solid 4th And 6th In Valvoline NEXTGEN Maxim
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 9, 2013) – It was a busy night. There were 71 sprint cars vying for the 4 remaining lock-in positions in Saturday night’s prestigious 53rd Annual Knoxville Nationals championship finale. The evening began as Jason took to the track thirty seventh in the Valvoline NEXTGEN #41 Maxim for time trials and circled around the hallowed ground in 16.073 seconds, which was 12th quick overall. His solid qualifying effort put him on the inside of row two in the sixth and final heat race where the top three would advance to the feature. When they passed the orange cone in four he charged to the third spot and held that position for eight laps as he chased down the front row starters. When the final lap was completed he got third and moved onto the A-Main where he would start seventh. At feature time he pushed off in the Gleco Plating Inc./Tony Lama Boots entry and took his spot in the 24 car lineup. After a four car flip on the initial start, the track went green and he dropped his right foot and started making his way forward. He worked his way up as high as fifth, but when the race was completed he finished sixth just missing one of the four transfer spots. But, the evening was not over as the 24-lap Speed Sport News World Challenge was still on the docket for the Louisiana driver and team. He was eligible to run this event because he competed over in Australia in the #47 for Alan and Lisa Haynes from HM Racing Australia. Starting from the outside front row he pedaled the car into the lead at the start and held the point position for the first fifteen laps before Brooke Tatnell made the pass for the lead in turn two after the leader got slowed by some lapped traffic. Tatnell would go on to win followed by Tim Kaeding and Daryn Pittman as Jason earned the fourth position. A good night of racing, but unfortunately he did not secure one of the spots in Saturday night’s A-Main. They will have to work their way into one of the remaining four spots by running the B-Main on Saturday night.
The Racing Has Begun With An Eleventh Place A-Main Run On Qualifying Night At 53rd Annual 410 Knoxville Nationals
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 7, 2013) – The stands were full of eager sprint car fans. The drivers and teams were ready to compete in the pit area. And, Katie Davis kicked off the 53rd Annual Knoxville Nationals with a beautiful rendition of “God Bless America” and the “National Anthem”. Let the racing begin! The Stenhouse Jr. Racing/HM Racing Australia/JJR Maxim was dressed back up in the Valvoline NEXTGEN recycled oil green as Jason pushed out twenty second to take time trials. His quickest lap was 15.569 seconds, which after the last car completed his laps was good enough for 25th quickest overall. After the inverted heat lineups were posted, Jason lined the Oakley/MSD Performance #41 on the outside of row two in the fifth and final heat race. When Doug Clark waved the green flag the Ragin’ Cajun used his Roush Yates Ford engine to power his way to the top side in turn one to move into the runner-up spot behind race leader Johnny Herrera. He would stay in that position until Kraig Kinser got a run around the bottom to steal second with two laps to go. He would cross the line third and secure one of the 24 highly sought after starting spots in the preliminary night feature event where he would start on the inside of row seven. Twenty five laps. Twenty four cars. It was feature time. Polesitter Greg Hodnett brought the field up to speed as the three-time ASCS Champion drove through traffic in the middle of the pack in the forty one. After a few early race cautions, Jason had moved the Durst Motorplex/Lincoln Auto Auction Maxim into the top ten on the ninth lap when the caution flag flew for a slowing Ian Madsen. He would fight tooth and nail over the last half of the race to hold his position as he tried to get more forward speed through the turns. When the checkered flag flew over race winner David Gravel, Jason cruised to a respectable eleventh place finish and earned 426 cumulative points throughout his qualifying night, which was 15th overall. The team will wait and see where that point total positions them after Thursday night’s preliminary action for the remaining competitors.
A Late Race Melee And Flat Right Rear At The Front Row Challenge Ruins Johnson’s Good Run At Southern Iowa Speedway
OSKALOOSA, Iowa (August 5, 2013) – There is an old saying that goes something like this, “Without bad luck, I would have no luck at all.” That adage kind of summed up the night at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa for Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing/HM Racing Australia/JJR boys. With 51 competitors entered in the Front Row Challenge, there were six heats on tap. Passing points were the key and the “Show Me” State resident was up to the task in the second heat race. Starting from the outside of row three, after two failed attempts to start the race, the green flag waved and the Ragin’ Cajun was on the move jumping into the third spot as they entered turn on in the AccuDoc Solutions/Vortex Racing Products #41 Maxim. He continued to pound the loud pedal and was Ford fast as he chased front row starters Brian Brown and Lee Grosz around the half mile oval. He couldn’t catch them in eight laps, but the three front runners freight trained across the finish line 1-2-3 as the checkered flag waved. He fell just short of making the top eight point earners who went on to compete in the King of the Hill dual races to set the top eight positions, but he locked himself into the A-Main. He started from the ninth starting spot and when the race finally went and stayed green he was up to seventh after the first lap. He continued to work his way through the field and by lap eight the fifth spot on the Southern Iowa Speedway Pepsi scoreboard was illuminated with the #41. He was coming in the K&N Filters/Fuel Safe Maxim. Racing around the tacky and high speed surface on lap twenty five he was closing fast on Tasker Phillips, Tony Shilling, and Brian Brown when race leader Tony Stewart took a nasty flip collecting some of the top runners in the melee. With nowhere to go, Jason ran over some debris and punctured his right rear Hoosier Racing Tire forcing him pit side for repairs. When the racing resumed, he rejoined the field at the back and salvaged the evening with a 12th place finish. Once again not the desired result, but that is part of racing and sometimes luck plays a big part in your overall success. The team will now turn 100% of their attention to their qualifying night for the prestigious 53rd Annual 410 Knoxville Nationals.
A Tough Break At 2nd Annual Capitani Classic Results In A Disappointing 24th Place Finish
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 4, 2013) – A stout field of 81 powerful 410 sprint cars lined the pit area at the Knoxville Raceway for the 2nd Annual Capitani Classic. Ralph Capitani is revered in these parts and in the sprint car community for building and developing the Marion County Fairground speedway and Nationals week into something almost unimaginable for both the racers and the fans. He is tough and gritty and it was going to take those two qualities to make the 24 car field on this night. With the Stenhouse Jr. Racing entry dressed up in its black, blue and white Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Roush Yates Engines paint scheme, the Louisiana speedster pushed off seventeenth for time trials. He scooted around the big half mile in 16.492 seconds which ended up 19th quick overall. After the inversion for the heat races, he buckled his Crow Enterprizes safety belts and rolled out to his third starting spot in heat race number four. With the field pacing around turn four they pounded their accelerators and it was full blown chaos with fast cars all fighting for the same turf. Johnson would go up to second and was chasing Danny Lasoski who had distanced himself from the field. He would maintain his spot in the running order when the checkers flew to secure one of the coveted 24 spots in the feature field for the Capitani Classic. Once again he had a terrific start when the initial green flag waved for the feature event in the Pro Powder Coating/Jonestown KOA #41 Maxim only to have it called off when Ian Madsen spun going down the backstretch. On the ensuing restart the field in front of him stole his line and he lost quite a few spots. Back on the throttle, he was racing to regain positions when Sammy Swindell came up the track coming off four forcing the #41 into the frontstretch wall turning his right side Hoosier Racing Tires into Knoxville guiderail white walls and knocking his front end out relegating him to the pits early with a 24th place finish. Not the run they were looking for on this night but the driver and team will now focus on the Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway on Monday night.
A Seventh Place Finish For The Cajun In The 23rd Annual 360 Knoxville Nationals Championship Finale At Knoxville Raceway
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 3, 2013) – It was championship night at the 23rd Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Nationals at Knoxville Raceway. There were 103 competitors who entered and attempted to secure one of the coveted 24 A-Main starting spots over two separate nights of qualifying. After a very good qualifying night on Thursday, Jason was locked into the championship finale in the Valvoline NEXTGEN/HM Racing Australia #41 Maxim as he was the seventh highest point earner with 478 points. With the smell of methanol and the sound of powerful engines filling the air, those that were not qualified to get into the big show racing through the E-Main, D-Main, C-Main, and ultimately the B-Main depending on their qualifying night effort and results. There was a brief intermission before the B-Main where Jason was recognized as the 2012 360 Driver of the Year and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing/HM Racing Australia/JJR team was honored as the 2012 360 Team of the Year. Jason took a moment to thank Alan and Lisa Haynes, who he believed in him and partnered with him from the very beginning to start the new racing team. Jason explained, “Alan and Lisa Haynes, as well as all of our supporters and partners, believed in us from the very beginning.” He continued, “We would not be here without all of them. They are such an important part of Jason Johnson Racing and all of our team’s success.” After the accolades and awards recognition ended, it was race time. After strapping on his Shell Shock custom painted Arai Helmet, he rolled his Hoosier Racing tires onto the fertile soil at Knoxville. When the initial green flag waved, Jason using his Roush Yates Ford power to drive underneath cars heading into turn one and some more going down the backstretch and through the last set of turns. When he exited turn four he was running fourth only to see the caution flag fly before one lap was in the books forcing a complete restart. When racing resumed he again got up to speed and held the eighth spot in the running order early on before breaking his left front shock mount on his Pro Shock. Doing everything he could do from the comfort of his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System to get the Fischer Body Shop/Durst Motorplex car around the famed half-mile as fast as he could, he managed to hold off multiple challenges for his position as he tracked down Wayne Johnson at the end to secure a seventh place finish as Shane Stewart took the win. It was the Louisiana drivers’ 45th top ten of the season. The team will now prepare their 410 for Sunday night’s 2nd Annual Capitani Classic.
Cajun Gets Eighth In The Valvoline NEXTGEN Maxim During Qualifying Night At 23rd Annual 360 Nationals At Knoxville Raceway
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 1, 2013) – The racing at Knoxville Raceway has begun as Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team unveiled their Valvoline NEXTGEN #41 Maxim at the 23rd Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Nationals. Pushing out third for time trials, the Louisiana gasser smashed the loud pedal an laid down a quick lap of 16.574 seconds. When the 48th and final qualifier stopped the clock, the Cajun Sensation’s lap was second quick overall behind Wayne Johnson. In the second heat race, with the sun setting over turns three and four, he used his Roush Yates Ford to power from his sixth starting spot at the start making an aggressive move to surge into the third position. He would follow the leaders to the stripe in the third spot behind race winner Randy Martin and runner up Tim Shaffer. After inverting the top eight points earners when the time trials and heat races were finished, it positioned the Valvoline NEXTGEN racer on the inside of row four for the 20-lap qualifying night feature event. When the green flag was displayed the field roared into turn one with the cars shuffling around searching for their quickest lines. As he maneuvered for position amongst the chaos he started to work the high side early trying to find some more speed and forward momentum. Midway through the race he moved to the bottom to hold off the competition and circled the big half mile in his KSE Racing Products/FK Rod Ends mount. With the laps winding down Danny Lasoski made a last lap pass of Kyle Larson coming off turn four to reclaim the lead and take the win with Jason cruising across the line with an eighth place finish. The team will now wait to see where their cumulative qualifying night point total (478 points – 3rd after night one) puts them overall after Friday night’s qualifying is completed to determine their starting spot for the championship finale on Saturday night.
Johnson Puts Exclamation Point On Western Swing With Runner-Up Finish On Night Two At Willamette Speedway
LEBANON, Oregon (July 27, 2013) – The annual trip to the Pacific Northwest is always aesthetically pleasing with the beauty of Mother Nature surrounding you no matter what direction you turn. But what makes it special for these racers is good finishes and parking their mount in victory lane. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were back at Willamette Speedway’s racy 3/8th mile oval ready to compete for the win after their fifth place finish on Friday night. Starting from the eighth starting spot in heat race number one, it was ‘gas and go’ time for the 3-time ASCS Lucas Oil National Series Champion when the flagman displayed the green. With his right foot firmly planted on the power pedal, his Roush Yates Ford engine delivered the horsepower needed to accelerate into the fifth spot on lap one. He quickly stole the fourth spot and wasn’t done as he raced his way into the third spot in the Durst Inc./Jonestown KOA Maxim when the checkers flew. His efforts earned him the FSR High Points Driver of the Night to advance him to the redraw. The evening’s positive momentum would continue when he drew the one pill to earn the right to start on the pole for the 30-lap feature. After the three-wide salute to the fans he nestled down into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System and was ready to roll in the MSD Performance/Xtreme Accu-Tach #41. Green, green, green and the beautifully prepared HM Racing/JJR mount was leading the field into turn one. He would hold the top spot for the first 14 laps before Brad Loyet would use the low line to slip by him for the race lead at the midway point. The first two would stay in that order with the Ragin’ Cajun getting up on the wheel and doing anything and everything to get the top paying position back. He would close in and make it awfully close at the finish line, but had to settle for the runner-up spot. After the race Jason commented, “I got to thank my guys for working their butts off all day.” He continued, “We gave it all we had, but Brad had the better car tonight.” A very successful western swing, a nine race stretch that started at I-90 Speedway back on July 6th and ended at Willamette Speedway on July 27th, resulted in two (2) wins, two (2) seconds, one (1) third, two (2) fourths, one (1) fifth, and the lowest finish of the stretch a sixth place finish on the first night at Cottage Grove. What an impressive western run for team forty one!
A Fifth Place Finish At Willamette Speedway Kicks Off Two Nights Of ASCS National Tour Racing Action In Oregon
LEBANON, Oregon (July 26, 2013) – Jason and the ASCS National Tour drivers kicked off the final weekend of racing in the Pacific Northwest at Willamette Speedway. In the second heat race it was an all Ford front row as Cole Wood Jr. was on the pole in his #17W and Jason was on the outside of row one in the Valvoline/AccuDoc Solutions #41. When the racing went green the two blue oval speedsters were in a wheel-to-wheel battle for the top spot. Wood owned it at the start, but Johnson wanted it. He got is coming off turn four on the first lap but Wood wasn’t about to give up. The two drivers would lock into a tight battle over the first half of the event before the Ragin’ Cajun took control of the lead and then prevailed to own the heat race win after eight exciting laps of racing. For the 25-lap feature around Willamette’s 3/8th mile oval, the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Gleco Plating Inc. Maxim was locked into his starting spot on the inside of row two. When the green flag waved and gave the twenty two drivers the go ahead to get up to speed in their high powered sprint cars, Jason’s Weld Racing wheels were on the move. In early action he settled into the fourth spot as race leader Brad Loyet led the field around Willamette Speedway. On lap ten, Jason jumped the cushion, bicycled and tagged the concrete wall through turns three and four forcing him to give up track position as he was relegated back to the eighth position in the running order. He quickly collected his mount, turned left and regained his speed as he started moving fast forward again. When race winner Jeff Swindell took the checkers, he was able to fight back to garner a respectable fifth place finish.
Johnson’s Workmanlike Effort Yields A Quality Fourth Place Finish In Wild Finish At Cottage Grove Speedway On Night Two
COTTAGE GROVE, Oregon (July 20, 2013) – After charging to a sixth place finish on night one, the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team was back at the track and ready to compete in the Durst Inc./Lincoln Auto Auction #41 Maxim. Starting from the third position in the second heat race, he was able to catch up and race side-by-side with race leader Reece Goetz on the last lap to come up just short of the win at the finish line. With his second place finish he was able to advance to the 30-lap finale around Cottage Grove’s racy quarter mile, high banked oval. When the Protect the Harvest feature lineup was set, the Louisiana driver would start the event from the outside of row six. The front row, comprised of Logan Forler and Seth Bergman, would get the field up to speed when the green flag was waved and the racing action throughout the field was fast and furious. Jason went to work from his ButlerBuilt Professional Racing Seat and started his march forward to the front of the field in the racediecast.com/Chalk Stix #41 speedster. After a number of early race stoppages, Jason had made his way up to the eighth position in the running order. He would continue to work hard wheeling his forty one around the racers in front of him as the leaders encountered lapped traffic. A late race caution with two laps to go setup a mad scramble to the feature finish. With Jason restarting in the fifth position, when the racing action got back up to green flag speed it was full blown chaos with everyone fighting to improve their finishing position. As race winner Roger Crockett crossed the line, Jeff Swindell, Logan Forler, and Jason chased him across the pay stripe. Jason won a three-way battle for that finishing spot with Johnny Herrera, who rounded out the top five, and Seth Bergman who ended up sixth.
Cajun Charges To A Sixth Place Finish On Night One At Cottage Grove Speedway
COTTAGE GROVE, Oregon (July 19, 2013) – Jason and the ASCS National Tour competitors moved their show south to the scenic and picturesque Cottage Grove Speedway located in the two-time All-America City (1968 and 2004) of Cottage Grove, Oregon. This area is known for its covered bridges and is just off the main Willamette Valley line for Union Pacific railroad. But when the Eunice, Louisiana driver climbed in the cockpit of his Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Pro Shocks Maxim all of the attention was focused on the #41. Starting from the eighth starting spot in heat one, garnering passing points was the first line item on the agenda. Eight laps, eight cars, eight drivers and one green flag. They were off and the driver of the forty one was able to move up three spots to claim a fifth place finish. At the end of qualifying he had not accumulated enough points to make the redraw so he was content starting from the inside of row eight for the 25-lap A-Main. The crew prepared the Kinsler Fuel Injection/ K&N Filters #41 for action so they could do their best to freight train their mount to the front of the pack. Front row starters Roger Crockett and Johnny Herrera brought the 22 cars to the line and the dirt started to fly as they powered up their engines. Under his Shell Shocked painted Arai Helmet, Jason got his elbows up and went to work pounding the right pedal searching for speed. He got it and started his forward assault. Working multiple lines around the surface he cracked the top ten early and made his way as far up as third before hooking a rut and almost flipping. He regained his composure and speed to take advantage of every opportunity to steal one spot at a time as he moved forward in the field. When the twenty five laps were completed, Crockett took the win over Herrera, but Jason put on a show moving up nine spots to finish in the sixth position. It was his 40th top ten finish of the year, which converts to a 72.73% top ten success rate. The team will now focus on making some additional changes in hopes of improving their performance and finish on night two at Cottage Grove on Saturday.
Johnson Claims Top Spot At Grays Harbor Raceway With Perfectly Executed Slide Job In AccuDoc Solutions Maxim
ELMA, Washington (July 13, 2013) – After locking into Saturday night’s A-Main with his runner-up finish on the first night of racing action, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were focused on improving their position by one in the finale at Grays Harbor Raceway aboard the AccuDoc Solutions/Pro Powder Coating #41 Maxim. The A-Main lineup was set and the Cajun Sensation would roll to the start from the outside front row beside pole sitter Dustin Morgan. When the green flag was unfurled they were off and running with Morgan taking the early lead and Johnny Herrera stealing the second spot with Jason close behind. The top three racers would stay close to each other as they were all running around the rim as the track surface slicked off. After a number of cautions slowed the pace, Jason got his Roush Yates Ford hooked up as he was determined to get back to the top spot for good on each of the ensuing restarts. When the racing resumed to green flag speed he used each restart as an opportunity to attempt move around the 3/10th-mile oval in search of speed and the lead. After a torrid battle for the top spot with Herrera as the two exchanged multiple slide jobs, the Louisiana chauffeur came out on top with a slide job of his own on lap 14 to take the lead from Herrera. With the fans in the stands all appreciating the show the front runners were putting on as they raced around Grays Harbor, Johnson held the point position in the Wilwood/MSD Performance Maxim for the remainder of the 30 laps and crossed the finish line in first ahead of Herrera, Tony Bruce, Jr., and Jeff Swindell, with Washington native Seth Bergman rounding out the top five. It was Jason’s sixth ASCS National Tour win in 2013 as he reclaimed the season long national points lead over Herrera by a slim three point margin, and his 74th career ASCS National Tour victory overall. In victory lane, as his Schoenfeld Headers and Hoosier Racing Tires cooled down, he reviewed his race strategy, “The restarts were the only place we were going to pass these guys.” He continued, “It was up around the top so it made for massive slide jobs. I didn’t want to get sliding until the end of the race because I was trying to conserve tires as much as I could and as long as I could.” It worked as the driver, team, and sponsorship partners celebrated their win in victory lane.
Cajun Kicks Off ASCS National Tour Action In Pacific Northwest With A Runner-up Finish At Grays Harbor Raceway
ELMA, Washington (July 12, 2013) – Jason and the ASCS racers arrived at Grays Harbor Raceway for back-to-back nights of racing action against the formidable talent from the Northwest. There were 27 drivers there to race for the winner’s honors around the 3/10th-mile, high banked clay oval. The first thing on the “to-do” list was qualifying. The Stenhouse Jr. Racing entry would start on the outside front row in the first heat race. When the flagman granted the field the authority to go fast, it was Jason jumping out into the lead over pole sitter Jason Reed in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/ISC Racers Tape #41. He would cruise to the qualifying race victory and wait to see if his finish and passing points were enough to lock him into the top eight redraw. At the end of qualifying he did earn enough points and when the redraw was finished he was on the pole for the 25 lap A-Main. The team meticulously went over their Maxim and had the car ready to roll from the front row. When the yellow lights changed to green, the driver from Eunice dropped his right foot and called for all the ponies his Roush Yates Ford could produce vaulting him into a race for the top spot on lap one in the Oakley/K&N Filter speedster. On the next round, Travis Rilat in his #39c would dive underneath the #41 and take the top spot. Jason was able to pull even after two cautions, but Rilat maintained control of the top spot as Johnson was struggling with a broken brake line and a cut right rear tire in the latter stages of the race. The Cajun crossed the finish line in the runner-up position behind Rilat and ahead of fellow ASCS National Tour competitor Johnny Herrera who rounded out the top three. After the race he explained, “The track conditions were excellent. I just came up short.” He continued, “I knocked the brake line off about halfway through the race and was struggling with that, then cut a right rear tire down but we didn’t have anything for the #39 at the end.”
An Electrifying Ending In Slower Traffic At Great Falls Nets A Fourth Place Finish For Johnson
GREAT FALLS, Montana (July 10, 2013) – Fresh off his victory at Billings Motorsports Park on Tuesday night, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were at Electric City Speedway in picturesque Great Falls, Montana. There were 30 drivers ready to mash their right foot on the power pedal in hopes of being the quickest driver to the finish line in the 30-lap feature event. Jason was on the outside of the front row in the first heat race in his Roush Yates Ford powered Maxim. When the flagman displayed the green flag it was pedal down time for the Louisiana chauffeur as he set sail into turn one in the Durst Inc./Lincoln Auto Auctions #41 to take over the point position. He would hold that position for all eight laps to take the win and earned enough points to again place him in the top eight redraw. When the redraw was all said and done, the beautifully prepared AccuDoc Solutions/Fischer Auto Body speedster was rolling around from the eighth starting spot. Not deterred, the Louisiana gas man was eager to steer around anyone in front of him with his KSE Racing Products when the green flag finally waved. It did wave after the drivers three abreast salute to the fans and the race was on as Jason used every open lane on the track to make his way comfortably into the top five in the early and mid-stages of the race. With the track taking on rubber and Tony Bruce, Jr. in the lead, the top runners were chasing down the slower cars making for some exciting action everywhere around the Electric City Speedway surface. Brad Loyet and the Cajun Sensation would slip by Bruce, Jr. on lap 28 for the top two spots but on the last lap while racing for the lead the front two would get caught behind slower traffic opening the door for Bruce, Jr. to retake the lead and local racer Joe Ramaker to follow him to the second spot, Loyet and Johnson were able to cross the line in third and fourth place respectively with Dustin Morgan rounding out the top five.
The Cajun Adds A Little Louisiana Seasoning To Victory Lane At Billings Motorsports Park
BILLINGS, Montana (July 9, 2013) – The Ragin’ Cajun ventured into Big Sky country to race against the competitors of the newly formed ASCS Frontier Region and his fellow ASCS National Tour foes in the first ever co-sanctioned event at Billings Motorsports Park in Montana. With 29 drivers vying for the 22 starting spots in the money paying feature race, gaining as many passing points and getting a good heat race finish was the name of the game for everyone. Lining his Tony Lama Boots/Jonestown KOA #41 Maxim up on the inside of row three he blasted to the inside and slid to the high side as he moved into the third spot early after the green flag waved. Using his Roush Yates Ford engine he then powered his way into a three car battle for the lead and ended up second behind Tony Bruce, Jr. at the finish line. His finishing position along with his passing points locked him into the top eight redraw. When the redraw was completed he would get the opportunity to start the 30-lap A-Main feature from the sixth starting spot. Replacing his Serratelli Hat with his Shell Shock painted Arai Helmet it was show time at Billings Motorsports Park. The driver from Eunice, Louisiana had his game face on and he was ready to pound the ‘go’ button to get up to speed in the Stenhouse Jr. Racing entry. When the green lights illuminated it was Johnson using the outside and middle of the race track to put the fans on the edge of their seats as he moved into the third running position in the early stages of the race before multiple cautions stopped the high speed action. When racing action resume he raced by Brad Loyet and set his sights on race leader Logan Forler. As the two frontrunners caught slower traffic the Ragin’ Cajun caught up to Forler and dove underneath him to seize the race lead. He would lead the remainder of the race to take the win by a wide margin as he crossed under the black and white checkered cloth. Under the bright lights of victory lane he stated, “Hats off to the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team. They never give up and my crew chief Philip put it all together tonight.” He continued, “The track crew did a great job. I appreciate the track promoter’s hard work to get this show in.”
Podium Finish Highlights Cajun’s Night At I-90 Speedway As ASCS National Tour’s Western Swing Kicks Off
HARTFORD, South Dakota (July 6, 2013) – The ASCS National Tour’s Western swing has begun. Jason and his fellow National Tour competitors invaded South Dakota to race at I-90 Speedway’s 3/8th mile oval with 22 degrees of banking in the turns. Starting from the pole in the first heat race, Jason jumped into the lead in the Durst Inc./Tony Lama Boots #41 Maxim. With the pedal to the floor boards, he cruised around the oval in clean air to take the heat race win ahead of Johnny Herrera. After the redraw for the A-Main, he would sit in his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System from the fifth starting spot. With the track taking on a considerable amount of rubber throughout the night, the feature was reduced to a 25-lap event to insure the best opportunity to put on a good show for the fans. When the green flag waved, front row starter Logan Forler led the field into turn one with Jason using his Roush Yates Ford to power his way into the fourth spot before quickly stealing away the third spot as the first lap was completed. As early racing action continued, Forler held the lead with Jeff Swindell and the Ragin’ Cajun close behind battling for the runner-up spot. After a lap ten caution flag, the racing resumed and Jason kept the pressure on Swindell for the higher position on the scoreboard as Forler was checked out. The track took a lot of rubber throughout the night reducing the racing on the surface, but Jason salvaged a third place podium finish in the MSD Performance/Fuel Safe Racing Cells #41 crossing the line behind Forler and Swindell. After the race he explained, “I really got to thank Hoosier Tire.” He continued, “They design a tire we can run on stuff like this and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team did a great job tonight.”
A Busy Night At Knoxville Raceway Nets Two Top Ten Finishes And A Lot Of Track Time For Johnson And The Stenhouse Jr. Racing Team
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 29, 2013) – With the month of June coming to a close and a western swing on the ASCS National Tour ahead consuming most of July, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team took advantage of a lot of track time at Knoxville Raceway to prepare for the first few weeks in August. The evening began with time trials for both the 360 and 410 divisions. When he went out 27th to get the clock started in his Roush Yates Ford 360 powered mount he nailed a solid lap of 16.596 seconds, which was 7th quick overall. He followed that up with another impressive lap in the 410 when the stop watch was clicked in 15.768 seconds, which ended up positioning him 8th quick overall. As the crew kept busy making sure both of the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/AccuDoc Solutions cars were ready for competition, the Cajun chauffeur raced to a second place finish in the first 360 heat race and a third place finish in the second 410 heat event. In the first 360 feature he started from the sixth position and after eighteen laps he was able to secure an eighth place finish around the big half-mile oval. He then started from the outside front row in the 410 feature and spun in front of the field on the initial start relegating him to the back of the pack for a complete restart. He then used his natural skills and talents inside the cockpit over the next twenty laps to wheel the MSD Performance/Pro Shocks #41 Maxim back around most of the competition garnering another eighth place finish. After pulling into the pits, he quickly crawled out and secured himself back in the ButlerBuilt racing seat in his 360 sprinter for the second main event. He started from the 13th spot and finished in the same position as a busy night of racing for the driver and crew was highlighted by two top ten finishes and a lot of track time for his return to the famed oval in August for the 360 and 410 Knoxville Nationals.

JACKSON, Minnesota (June 26, 2013) – The boys from the “Show Me” state traveled north to western Minnesota, to compete in the Jackson Speedway’s 6th Annual Folken Brothers Spring Sprint Car Nationals. When they arrived, the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team was one of 33 teams competing for the right to hold the black and white checkered flag in victory lane. Lining the Jonestown KOA/Shell Shock Maxim up fifth in a loaded second heat race, with the likes of Brian Brown on the pole and Wayne Johnson on the inside of row two, Jason needed to be on the move early to secure a qualifying transfer spot. With the Ford logo prominently displayed on the top of his front wing, he accelerated coming off turn four and used his Roush Yates Engine to blast to the low side of turn one to grab the third spot. He maintained that spot at the finish line and moved on to the 360 Dash as one of the top ten in points after qualifying was completed. Under a beautiful Minnesota sunset, he started the dash on the outside of row three beside Wayne Johnson and used the bottom side in one and two to pass a car and then laid his Hoosier right rear tire up on the cushion to bring home a fourth place finish. Moving onto the 25-lap, $7,500 to win A-Main, he paced around the big half mile from the outside of row two and when the green cloth was waved it was all systems go as he went from the outside starting spot to the inside to seize the runner-up spot behind race leader Brian Brown. Just after the midway point of the race, Dusty Zomer regained the runner-up spot from Jason. Throughout the remainder of the race the Cajun Sensation fought to hold on to every position bringing the Durst/Lincoln Auto Auction #41 across the finish line with a sixth place finish.

WHEATLAND, Missouri (June 22, 2013) – It was the sixth and final race of the ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek and the driver from Eunice, Louisiana wanted nothing more than a strong showing in the finale at Lucas Oil Speedway in the Stenhouse Jr. Racing/HM Racing #41. It did not take him long to make his presence known when he rolled to a second place finish in the heat race after starting on the outside of row two. His good qualifying run made him eligible for the redraw and when the A-Main lineup was set he was slated to start third in the 30-lap feature event around the Diamond of Dirt Track’s 3/8th-mile semi-banked oval. As front row starters Miranda Arnold and Jeff Swindell brought the field to the green flag, it was the Ragin’ Cajun using his Roush Yates Engine to move into the runner-up spot early. Using his Ford to power his way around the cushion in the high speed chase, he was inside the cockpit executing his race plan through the shield of his Arai Helmet. He was focused on tracking down the leader, Miranda Arnold, when Brad Loyet relegated him back to the third spot. He stayed up on the wheel and kept working hard with his KSE Racing Products to steer the K&N Filters/FK Rod Ends Maxim across the finish line with a fourth place finish. It was the driver’s19th top five finish of the 2013 season, a 43.2% success rate, which enable him to secure the runner-up honors in the overall Bob Westphal Memorial Speedweek driver standings. In the season long ASCS Lucas Oil National Tour points standings he also sits in second place, 56 points behind Johnny Herrera who currently holds the top spot as the series heads into I-90 Speedway in Hartford, South Dakota on July 6th for their next points race.
Broken Front End While Racing For Lead At Creek County Speedway Results In A Disappointing 20th Place Finish
SAPULPA, Oklahoma (June 20, 2013) – With a monster crowd in the grandstands, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were in the pits at Creek County Speedway for the fifth race in the ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek series. Locked in a tight points battle for the Bob Westphal Speedweek trophy with Jeff Swindell, the Louisiana chauffeur was focused and ready to roll in the Jonestown KOA/Kinsler Fuel Injection #41 Maxim. He started third in the first heat race and quickly navigated into the second spot behind Tim Crawley when the flagman waved the green flag. He worked the high side, then the low side, and back to the high side before diving under Crawley to move into the top spot. He would not relinquish his position in the running order as he sprinted across the winner’s stripe to take the heat race victory and move himself into the redraw. After pulling the three pill he settled into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System and buckled into his Crow Enterprizes safety equipment. After the three abreast salute to the fans, he pulled his shiny Weld Racing wheels into the inside of row two behind front row starters Matt Covington and Jeff Swindell. He was able to slide up to the pole position when Covington’s car would not fire. Green, green, green and they were off. But, before they could get a lap in the yellow was displayed. On the next restart the red was displayed for Tony Stewart who flipped. The next time around they were on the move and Jason seized the lead in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) Maxim and was showing the way around the quarter mile oval followed closely by Christopher Bell. There was a lot of side-by-side racing action for the top spot before the two leaders got together hard just after the halfway point breaking the front end on the forty one resulting in a 20th place finish in the final running order.
A Podium Finish At Lawton Speedway In Front Of A Packed House In Round Four Of Speedweek
LAWTON, Oklahoma (June 19, 2013) – On a beautiful night in Lawton, Oklahoma, the pits were packed with 46 eager competitors as the ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek continued and the grandstands were absolutely packed with a lot of excited sprint car fans. In the first heat race, Jason rolled out on his Hoosier Racing Tires in the Tony Lama Boots/Valvoline #41 Maxim. Starting from the outside of row three in the 8-lap event, the driver from Eunice, Louisiana would need to flex his Cajun muscles and Roush Yates Ford power to move his way up on a narrow racing surface. When polesitter Jake Martens brought them to the green flag the forty one blasted into the fourth spot and then started to pressure Tony Stewart for the third position. On the last lap, Stewart wheeled it going into the turn and Jason took advantage and stole the third position to cross the finish line behind Martens and runner-up Mike Goodman. His great run resulted in a redraw opportunity where he pulled the five pill to start on the inside of row three in the 30-lap A-Main. After numerous attempts to get the feature started the green was out and the racer cars were moving fast. Jason quickly moved into the fourth running position and he was involved in a spirited battle for position with Christopher Bell. On a mid-race restart he drove hard into the third spot and almost spun out in turn four but collected it and held his position as he focused on chasing down the back bumper of Dustin Morgan. With his Wilwood brakes allowing him to manage his speed through the turns, he worked the low line and the high line trying to get by Morgan for the runner-up spot. When the last lap was completed he followed race winner Jeff Swindell and Morgan across the pay stripe with a third place podium finish in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Fischer Body Shop hot rod. As his Schoenfeld Headers cooled he explained, “To be honest we were just off a little bit tonight. Just stayed a little bit free.” He continued, “These guys are working hard and we are turning this around with consistent top five finishes.”

VIVIAN, Louisiana (June 16, 2013) – It was night three of the ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek and Jason and the team had the AccuDoc Solutions/Fischer Body Shop Maxim ready to race. With afternoon rain showers giving way to beautiful clear skies over Ark-La-Tex Speedway’s quarter-mile oval, it was time to go racing on Father’s Day. As all good racers do, he secured himself into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System and when he saw green he used all his Roush Yates Ford power to drive around Ark-La-Tex Speedway and his heat race competitors. Using the fast lanes around the oval he was able to move up two spots to finish second behind Seth Bergman. When qualifying action was completed he earned enough points to get into the redraw and pulled the one pill to start from the pole position in the 30-lap feature. Pacing the field from the front row he was eager to drop his right foot on the power pedal and get the air flowing across his Vortex Racing Products wings at the first sign of green. He did just that moving to the top side of the racing surface entering turn one and through turn two. He was flat out flying around the track setting a rapid pace for the first eleven circuits before encountering lap traffic. On the next lap he got caught in some slower traffic and eventual race winner Logan Forler took advantage of the Cajun’s speed interruption to steal the lead. Jason was able to regain his momentum to finish in the runner-up spot ahead of Jeff Swindell, Channin Tankersley and Tony Bruce, Jr. After the race he explained, “That’s part of racing when you’re leading a race and not sure where to go.” He continued, “One thing about running second is when you get to lapped cars, when the leader goes one way, you go the other.” He did earn the Hawk Performance Products Fastest Lap of the Night honors with a lap of 11.948 seconds. In addition, he reclaimed the Bob Westphal Memorial Speedweek overall points lead over Jeff Swindell by a slim three point margin.
Cajun Charges From His 11th Starting Spot To Finish 4th At Devil’s Bowl In Second Race Of ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek
MESQUITE, Texas (June 15, 2013) – The racing action is heating up with the summertime temperatures. One indicator of this rise in temperature and racing activity on the ASCS National Tour schedule is the 19th Annual Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek. After their win at Kennedale Speedway Park, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing boys headed over to Mesquite to the historic and famous half-mile oval – Devil’s Bowl Speedway – to race in the 40th Annual Parks Auto Sales Summer Nationals. With their hauler parked overlooking the speedway from the backstretch, Jason took to the track in the fourth heat race. Starting from the outside front row in The Shop Diesel Service/ Serratelli Hat Company #41 Maxim to the right of polesitter Brad Loyet, they paced the field and brought them up to speed when the green flagged waved. Loyet got the lead and the Cajun was in pursuit. Eight laps certainly goes by quickly at Devil’s Bowl and the Louisiana wheelman was able to bring his speedster home with a second place finish. His finish advanced him to the A-Main where he would start from the eleventh position for the 30-lap feature in his Fuel Safe Racing Cells/K&N Filters race car. After an early red for a hard flip by Josh Baughman, the Ragin’ Cajun went back to work inside the cockpit. Polesitter Johnny Herrera was setting the pace, but it was the forty one on the move working his way into the top five by the halfway point. He kept the hammer down and soon moved into the fourth running position with his sights set on chasing down the top three. Running out of laps he followed Herrera, Jeff Swindell, and Brad Loyet across the pay stripe with a hard fought fourth place finish. The team will now head back to his native state of Louisiana on Sunday night as the ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek action continues at Ark-La-Tex Speedway.
Hard Work Pays Off With Prime Spot In Victory Lane At Kennedale Speedway Park To Kick Off ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek
KENNEDALE, Texas (June 14, 2013) – Hard work pays off . . . period. Jason Johnson and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing crew have certainly been working very hard to make their Roush Yates Engines/Pro Shocks #41 Maxim better over the last few weeks. They headed to Kennedale Speedway Park to kick off the 19th Annual Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek to measure their efforts. They didn’t have to wait long to see if their hard work paid off as they lined up on the inside of row two in the first heat race. When the green flag dropped he used his Ford power to go three-wide going into turn one. Ryan Beechler held the lead, but a few laps later Jason accelerated off the low side of turn four to seize the top spot and he was off as he pulled out to a straight-a-way lead for the victory. His luck then kept the momentum going in the right direction when he pulled the “2” pill to earn the right to start the 30-lap feature event from the outside front row. As he climbed into the cockpit his competitor eyes were focused and peering through the shield of his Shell Shock painted Arai Helmet. It was race time. It was time for the ultimate test of their hard work. When the green lights lit up around the quarter mile race track he powered up his Roush Yates Ford and set sail taking the lead from Ryan Hall using the low side in turns 3 and 4 to lead lap one. He held that lead as numerous cautions brought the field back together, but the Ragin’ Cajun had plenty of power as he dominated the event and charged across the finish line first in his MSD Performance/Conroy “Pneu” Control race car. The victory was his 72nd career ASCS National Tour win and 232nd overall career victory. Parked in the winner’s circle on his father’s birthday, he respectfully remembered and honored two special people in sprint car racing that we lost this past week – Jason Leffler and Bob Westphal – while celebrating with Jaxx and his family all together for the first time under the lights of victory lane. Jason stated, “The crew has been working their tails off for the last couple of months.” He continued, “This win is definitely a team effort.” The hard work paid off and they will need to continue those efforts throughout the remaining racing of the busy Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek schedule over the next week and throughout the remainder of the season.
World Of Outlaws Beat The Rain And Johnson Brings Home An Eleventh Place Finish At Lakeside Speedway
KANSAS CITY, Kansas (June 8, 2013) – After his eighth place run with the World of Outlaws at 34 Raceway on Friday night, it was off to Lakeside Speedway for Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team to race in the FVP Outlaws at Lakeside event. With 21 cars entered, Jason pushed out on the track surface for time trials in his Weld Racing/Gleco Plating Inc. #41 Maxim and toured around the speedway with a fast lap of 14.340 seconds, which was 12th quick overall. He then rolled out to start from the pole in the third heat race and when the green flag was displayed he kept the number one spot for the entire eight lap distance to take the win over Danny Lasoski, Joey Saldana, and Daryn Pittman. His win locked him into the six lap dash for the second night in a row, where he would start from the outside of row five. On a very tight track where passing was at a premium, he was able to pick up one spot to finish ninth. With rain in the area, the program was in fast forward so they could beat the weather. Jason along with the other drivers climbed into their offices and secured themselves in tightly for the 30 laps around Lakeside Speedway. With the green lights illuminated, Jason powered up his Roush Yates Ford engine as he pressed the speed button with his right foot. He was searching for lines where his car would work best on the racing surface each and every lap. When race winner Craig Dollansky took the checkers for the second consecutive night ahead of Jason Sides and Sammy Swindell, Jason was able to bring home a respectable eleventh place finish on a track that proved very difficult to pass for most of the competitors. After completing their post race activities, the crew loaded their race machine up and headed out of Lakeside Speedway on Wolcott Drive in route to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska the Sunday night’s World of Outlaw action.
An Eighth Place Finish Kicks Off Three Nights Of Racing Action Against The World Of Outlaws At 34 Raceway
WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (June 7, 2013) – With a weekend off from ASCS National Tour competition, the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team went to 34 Raceway’s 3/8th mile, semi-banked clay oval to race against the World of Outlaws in their Roush Yates Engines/ Ford Racing #41 Maxim. With 43 powerful sprinters lined up and ready to take the raceway for time trials, the driver from Eunice, Louisiana pushed off first and turned in a quick lap of 12.727 seconds. After the final qualifier took the checkers, the Cajun Sensation was 15th quick overall to put himself on the pole for the third heat race. With Joey Saldana on the outside of the front row and Tim Kaeding and Sammy Swindell in row two it was hammer down time. When the green flag was in the air it was three wide early as Swindell dove down to the bottom entering turn one, Jason was in the middle, and Saldana was on the topside. Saldana came out of turn two in the lead with Jason in second and Swindell settling into third. After ten fast paced laps they crossed the finish line in that same order. Advancing to the Dash, Jason lined up from the tenth starting spot and raced his way up one position to earn the ninth starting spot in the A-Main. In the feature event, the rumble of twenty four 900 horsepower engines turned to a load roar when the drivers hit their accelerators to take the green. With wheel-to-wheel racing all around the track there were two early red flags, and a yellow on lap twelve when Jason and Daryn Pittman got together on the backstretch resulting in Pittman heading to the pit area. When racing resumed, Jason was on the gas in the KSE Racing Products/ MSD Performance speedster racing for position with Donny Schatz, Steve Kinser, and Kerry Madsen. When race winner Craig Dollansky finished the race, Jason crossed the finish line in eighth place finish as he was the last car on the lead lap. A good run for the forty one against some of the best in the business.
Johnson Adds Louisiana Flavor To Top Ten At Knoxville Raceway With An 8th Place Finish In The 410 Program
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 1, 2013) – The Stenhouse Jr. Racing boys took advantage of an unexpected night off from ASCS National tour action when the Eagle Nationals were postponed so they headed to Knoxville Raceway. Electing to run the 410 portion of the program, they bolted in one of their Roush Yates Engines and went out to turn some high speed circles around the famous dirt track oval. With thirty five eager competitors waiting to take their time trial laps, Jason pushed off 24th and his fastest lap recorded was 14.986 seconds which was 12th quick overall after the last driver took the checkers. After qualifying fifth through his heat race he accumulated enough points to start on the outside of row five in the AccuDoc Solutions/Lee Components #41 Maxim for the 20-lap feature event. Working methodically from his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System he used his patience while at speed to find the fastest way around the black clay oval. After a lengthy red flag delay when Austin Johnson made contact with another racer and flipped wildly down the front stretch, the Louisiana racer was ready to get back up to speed. When racing resumed he kept working and when race winner Brian Brown took the checkered flags, Jason cruised across the line with an eighth place finish. In 2013, he has climbed inside the cockpit of his Maxim Chassis 36 times and when he has unbuckled his Crow Enterprizes safety belts at the end of the night he has recorded 24 top ten finished. A pretty impressive statistic, but for the driver of the forty one it only serves as a motivator as he keeps digging to add to his season total in the win column. Be sure to come out to the track and catch up with Jason, the team, and all of our valued sponsorship partners.
Mechanical Problems Stop Strong Run For The Forty One Team At Salina Speedway
SALINA, Kansas (May 31, 2013) – As the old saying goes “If I didn’t have bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all.” That could have been the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team and driver’s motto for most of the month of May as they put the thirty one days of May in their rear view mirror. On Friday night as Salina Speedway, Jason and the team were ready to get back on track in their Shop Diesel Service/Valvoline #41 Maxim. Starting from the fifth starting spot in the Brown & Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS) third heat race, Jason did what he does best and pounded the load pedal coming off turn four to summon all of the ponies his Roush Yates Ford engine could supply. They delivered and he set sail as he drove his way up to the third spot at the finish line behind Jack Dover and Jeff Swindell. Then his luck seemed to have started to swing back in the right direction after the redraw when he found himself set to start the 30-lap A-Main from the outside of the front row. As the crew went over the car one last time before it was pushed off, the driver prepared his beautifully painted Shell Shock Arai Helmet for competition. After the three wide salute to the fans, the driver of the forty one was ready to go. Polesitter and eventual winner, Seth Bergman, jumped out to the early lead as the Cajun settled into the top three in the running order. He was battling hard at the front of the field when fuel line problems on lap 22 forced him pit side for the night resulting in a 20th place finish for the defending champion. Jason and the team will have to wait to kick off the month of June as the Eagle Nationals that were set to run on Saturday night got postponed due to flooding after the track endured nearly a foot of rain over the last few days.
Another Top Ten Finish In Tribute To Jesse Hockett Event At Double X Speedway For Johnson
CALIFORNIA, Missouri (May 26, 2013) – He’s a racer so he found a special race closer to home to compete in with the Fischer Body Shop/Winters Performance #41 Maxim. On Sunday night, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team arrived at Double X Speedway to race in their annual Tribute to Jesse Hockett event with the ASCS Warrior Region. With 21 drivers and teams challenging for the winner’s trophy, Jason rolled out and started near the back of the pack in the third heat race. Eight laps around a 1/4-mile semi-banked oval does not take long and when they were completed he drove the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) machine to a third place finish. After all of the qualifying action was completed it was time for the feature event. Climbing into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System and tightening his Crow Enterprizes safety equipment, he peered through the shield of his Arai Helmet as he paced around from his fifth starting spot for the 30-lap event. Outside front row starter Jonathan Cornell led the field to the green flag as the engines came to life with a roar. Jason was working hard inside the cockpit as Cornell, Randy Martin, and Evan Martin were out front running around the oval. After the thirty laps were completed, the Eunice, Louisiana driver brought his mount home in the seventh position. It was his sixth straight top ten finish and twenty third top ten of the season – a 68% top ten success rate. As the month of May nears its end, the busy racing season continues to heat up with the summer sun as June begins. Be sure to check our schedule and come out to the track to catch up with Jason, the team, and all of our valued sponsorship partners.
A Frustrating Night At Steve King Memorial Ends With A Hard Fought Tenth Place Finish
JETMORE, Kansas (May 25, 2013) – After a day off from racing and a pre-race parade to kick off the Steve King Memorial event, the Cajun Sensation and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were excited and ready to get on the track at the Great American Dirt Track. In heat three, Jason wheeled the Pro Powder Coating/Valvoline Maxim into the last starting spot in the field for the eight lap race. When front row starters Cole Wood and Danny Wood brought the field up to speed, it was the Cajun using his Roush Yates Ford power to move high on the track as he started passing cars and cutting through the gusty crosswinds that were blowing around the track. When Cole Wood took the checkers, Jason was able to lock down the fourth spot garnering enough passing point to advance to the A-Main and make the redraw. With an incredible sunset behind the pits, the team was readying the ISC Racers Tape/Conroy Pneu Control #41 for the 30-lap feature. He started on the inside of row three and after the three-wide missing man formation pace lap, the defending ASCS champion settled back into his fifth starting spot. On the initial start there was a six car melee in turn one that Jason could not avoid. After some quick repairs in the work area, Jason rejoined the back of the field for a complete restart. When the green came back out he was on the move. He methodically worked his way back to the front of the running order only to be forced to loop the car to avoid running into Tony Bruce Jr. when CJ Johnson spun in front of the two racers. Forced to go to the back of the pack again, he used the few remaining laps to drive hard and finish in the tenth position in a race impacted by attrition. After the race he commented, The crew did a good job tonight.” He continued, “We just need to keep digging.” Jason currently sits second in the season long ASCS National Tour point standings sitting 69 points behind current leader Johnny Herrera.
Cajun Recovers To Finish Eighth At I-80 Speedway In Second Consecutive Night Of ASCS National Tour Action
GREENWOOD, Nebraska (May 23, 2013) – After his top five run at Valley Speedway, the team made the 225 mile trek northwest to I-80 Speedway for the second consecutive night of ASCS National Tour action. Jason is always excited to race in that area as the track is in the backyard of the team’s valued sponsorship partners Durst and Lincoln Auto Auction. When the beautiful prepared Durst/Lincoln Auto Auction #41 Maxim hit the track for hot laps, the roar of his Roush Yates Ford engine got the attention of everyone in the grandstands as he was quickest with a lap of 15.406 seconds. In the fourth heat race he started from the fifth spot and when the green flag waved he pounced on the high speed button with his heavy right foot and went to work inside the cockpit using his KSE Racing Products to steer smoothly around his competition on his way to the top spot in the eight lap event. With his heat race victory he earned a spot in the redraw and was very pleased when he learned he would start on the outside of the front row beside polesitter Wayne Johnson for the 30-lap finale. It was feature time and he secured himself tightly into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System as he pulled down on his Crow Enterprizes safety belts. When the green lights illuminated around the speedway the native of Eunice, Louisiana used the top side of the speedway to seize the lead and he held that position for the first third of the race as he was having a spirited battle with Danny Lasoski for the top spot. Lasoski then used the bottom of the racing surface to slip past the Cajun in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Kenny’s Components Maxim. A few laps later Jason spun around and found himself stopped along the inside wall in turns three and four losing his running position at the front of the field. Restarting from the back of the entire pack with fourteen laps to go the Cajun Sensation started to put on an impressive display of racing. When the checkered flag flew over race winner Danny Lasoski, Jason recovered and charged his way all the way back to claim an eighth place finish in the A-Main finishing order.
Johnson Kicks Off Memorial Day Weekend Of Racing Action With Top Five Run At Valley Speedway
GRAIN VALLEY, Missouri (May 22, 2013) – Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team kicked off the Memorial Day weekend of racing early as they invaded Valley Speedway to race against the ASCS National Tour and Warrior Region competitors in the Jonestown KOA/Fuel Safe Racing Cells #41 Maxim. With overcast skies but no precipitation, the Ragin’ Cajun pushed out for heat race action and positioned his Roush Yates Ford powered sprint car in the third starting spot. With limited passing during the event he was able to move into the runner-up position to advance to the main event. Following the completion of the heat races, the track crew went to work on the corners to make sure the track was ready so the drivers could put on a show for the packed grandstands. The three-time ASCS National Tour champion rolled his Weld Racing wheels into his ninth starting spot ready to get his elbows up for thirty high speed laps around the 1/3-mile, semi-banked oval. On the initial start, the race was halted for a flipping Miranda Arnold bringing out the red flag. Jason sustained top wing damage, but the crew was able to put on a new Vortex Racing Products wing under the open red flag period. On the complete restart the Louisiana speedster stomped his right foot and was on the move using the top side of the speedway and diamonding off the corners as he made tracks without looking back to claim the sixth spot. When the yellow came out on lap eleven for a spinning Jeff Swindell, the Ragin’ Cajun was in the fifth position in the running order. He would hold that position when the yellow flag came back out on lap seventeen for a slowed Wayne Johnson. On lap 23, the red was displayed for a flipping Cole Wood and Brad Loyet and the Cajun had dropped back to the sixth running position. He would regain the fifth position as he followed Johnny Herrera, Brian Brown, Danny Lasoski, and Tony Bruce Jr. across the finish line.
A Busy Night Of Racing At Knoxville Raceway As Johnson Double Dips And Brings Home Two Top Ten Finishes
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 18, 2013) – The Stenhouse Jr. Racing team arrived back in Knoxville to race at the famous half mile oval on Saturday night. The driver and crew would be busy though as they elected to compete in both the 360 and 410 divisions to gets some more laps around the black clay racing surface in the Valvoline/Ben Cook Racing Products #41 Maxim. With time trials set for both divisions, the Louisiana speedster used his Roush Yates Ford engines to power around the oval in 15.515 seconds with his 410 sprinter and 16.218 seconds with his 360 entry. The times represented good laps overall and when qualifying was completed he was 10th quick in the 410 and 8th quick in the 360. When the heat races were set to go Jason started fifth in his 360 heat and raced his way directly into the A-Main with a fourth place finish. Jumping out of one cockpit and into the ButlerBuilt Professional Racing Seat in his 410 for the first heat race, he replicated his fourth place finish to place his Xtreme Accu-Tach/Chalk Stix mount into the finale. For the 360 feature, the three-time ASCS Champion was on the pole and when the green lights illuminated he jumped out to the early lead after numerous cautions halted earlier attempts to get the 18-lap event started. On an early race restart he temporarily lost the lead to Nate Van Haaften but stole the lead back when the two entered slower traffic later in the race. With an incredible race at the front of the pack, Brian Brown took the lead with three to go and Clint Garner slipped by to claim the second spot with Jason running third. The three would cross the line in that order to claim the top three podium spots. In the 410 feature event, Jason started ninth in his MSD Performance/Hoosier Racing Tires entry. With a great racing surface to compete on he navigated at speed around the oval searching for any and all opportunities to steal a position in the running order. After twenty hard fought laps he secured his second top ten finish for the night as he crossed the stripe in seventh place after Davey Heskin took the win.
Rough Night At U.S. 36 Raceway For Cajun And Stenhouse Jr. Racing Team Ends With A 16th Place Finish
CAMERON, Missouri (May 17, 2013) – The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competitors were back at it on Friday night at the U.S. 36 Nationals. With a rough track surface, the racers had to have their elbows up as they scooted around the 3/8th-mile oval. After an autograph session with the fans and opening ceremonies, the drivers were at speed in four separate heat events. Jason started the fourth heat race from the outside of row three in his Roush Yates Ford powered Maxim. When the green flag waved over the field, he used that horsepower to get his Gleco Plating Inc./AccuDoc Solutions #41 moving in fast forward. After eight quick laps he finished fourth as he followed Jay Russell, Cole Wood, and Jordan Boston under the checkers. His finish advanced him directly to the A-Main where he was slated to start tenth in the 35-lap event. As the 22 cars entered the track for the finale, Jason pulled the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Schoenfeld Headers sponsored Maxim to the outside of row five. When the green flag was displayed he started his forward assault as all the drivers in the eleven rows of two mashed the gas. With his Pro Shocks doing their part to absorb the bumps, the Ragin’ Cajun pounded the loud pedal. He made his way up as far as the seventh spot when he bounced through a hole on the track surface and hit the wall resulting in a bent front axle. From that point forward he could have replaced his Shell Shock painted Arai Helmet with a well crafted cowboy hat from Serratelli Hat Company to ride out the rest of the feature as he limped around to a disappointing 16th place finish. It was a rough night all around for everyone. After the race the Louisiana-bred driver stated, “It was just not our night, but we will keep diggin’.” It’s nights like this one that make the good nights feel even better.
Johnson Races His Way Into World Of Outlaws A-Main In Mediacom Shootout At Knoxville Raceway
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 11, 2013) – There were 51 cars in the pit area at Knoxville Raceway at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Iowa. One of those competitive cars was the Durst/Lincoln Auto Auction/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 with Jason Johnson behind the wheel. When you race at Knoxville against the formidable World of Outlaws and local competitors you have to be at the top of your game just to make the A-Main. In qualifying action, the Ragin’ Cajun was the 13th driver pushed onto the front straightaway for time trials where his fastest lap was 15.467 seconds, which was good enough for 27th quick overall. Looking to secure one of the four transfer spots to the A-Main in the second heat race, he lined the Vortex Racing Products/Kinsler Fuel Injection Maxim up from the sixth starting spot. Unable to advance he focused his attention and right foot on getting there through the Last Chance Showdown where he would again start sixth. This time he used his Roush Yates Ford horsepower to accelerate around the big half mile. After numerous cautions he fought for position with Dusty Zomer as they pursued race leader Daryn Pittman. Jason did his job as he charged under the checkers in the second spot right behind Pittman. Advancing to the A-Main, he would be positioned on the outside of row eleven. After 25 super fast laps around the famed oval, Donny Schatz won the event as Jason was scored with a 25th place finish. While certainly not the night the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team and driver were looking for, they made the A-Main and got some important laps in around the speedway which they can learn from and use down the road when they revisit Knoxville in the future.
Back At The Track, Cajun Just Misses A-Main Transfer Spot At Elko Speedway in World Of Outlaws Competition
ELKO, Minnesota (May 10, 2013) – The World of Outlaws made their way to Minnesota to race in front of a packed house at Elko Speedway, a paved track that was covered in dirt for this special event. When Jason hit the 3/8-mile track for time trials in his K&N Filters/Fuel Safe #41 Maxim he circled it in 13.155 seconds, which was 26th quick at the end of qualifying. Starting from the inside of row four in the loaded second heat race, the Louisiana speedster did everything he could to advance his position, but could only pick up one spot over the ten laps to finish sixth. Relegated to the 12-lap Last Chance Showdown, he buckled back into his ButlerBuilt Professional Race Seat and was determined to put on a show from his sixth starting spot as he was making every attempt to get into one of the top four A-Main transfer spots. With Brian Brown leading the field it was wheel-to-wheel action the entire way. Jason was locked into an all out racer’s battle with Mark Dobmeier for the final transfer spot and was able to secure it on the ninth lap only to have the caution fly as the white flag came out to set up a green-white-checkered finish. On the single file restart, Dobmeier used the top side of the speedway to make his way around the Weld Racing/The Shop Diesel Service #41 through turns three and four after touching wheels in really close racing action. Not one to give up, the Cajun shot low in turns one and two on the white flag lap and the two fierce competitors again touched wheels this time sending Dobmeier spinning in turn two and allowing Skyler Prochaska to slip by and steal away the final transfer spot. Jason was able to cross the line in the fifth spot. The team will head to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night to race with the World of Outlaws in the Mediacom Shootout.
Johnson’s Celebrate One Of Life’s Greatest Victories – Welcome Jaxx Hosea Johnson!!!
ROCKY MOUNT, Missouri (May 8, 2013) – The call came and Jason climbed into the driver’s seat with Bobbi riding along as they headed to the hospital. The new crew member was pushing and anxiously waiting to become part of the Johnson’s family. There was no cushion to lean on for the Ragin’ Cajun, but he relied on his right foot and expert wheelman skills as he directed the vehicle down the straightaways and around the corners to the nearest hospital. Upon arrival they had to wait until the new man of the house decided to enter the world. As the time passed, the soon-to-be dad was making his pace laps around the room ready for the green flag and the action to commence. At 8:46 p.m. Central Time it was go time as Jaxx Hosea Johnson made his way to victory lane with his proud mother and father right there to welcome him. After a quick inspection by the nursing crew it was determined that he was 18 1/2 inches long. Then it was off to the scales to make sure he met the minimum weight requirement. As he rolled across the Medela scales the numbers illuminated and read 5 pounds 14.2 ounces. With all the official paperwork completed the family could all be together as the proud mother and father beamed with joy. According to Jason, “Lil’ Jaxx is already on racer hours as he was up until midnight and then slept all night.” He also left a few tracks in his diaper for the proud dad to deal within the first twenty four hours. Welcome to parenthood Jason and Bobbi! Congratulations. Welcome to the world Jaxx! We are all so excited you are here.

Top Ten Run For The Forty One Against The Outlaws At Salina Highbanks Speedway
SALINA, Oklahoma (April 27, 2013) – Rain and racing don’t mix. After a one day delay due to the wet stuff, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team took to the lightning quick 3/8th-mile oval in Salina against the World of Outlaws. With 22 competitors looking to win the bronze eagle winner’s trophy it was all right foot racing. Jason went out 16th for time trials and called upon his Roush Yates Ford horsepower to complete a lap of 11.549 seconds, which was 12th quick overall. The qualifying run would align the Weld Racing/Brown & Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS) #41 Maxim on the pole for the third heat race. Fellow front row starter Craig Dollansky jumped out to the lead with the #41 right behind as the drivers completed the eight lap event in the first and second finishing positions respectively. When the qualifying action was completed, the Cajun Sensation made the Dash and an inversion of eight was pulled putting him on the outside of row five. With six quick laps in the books he was able to move up one position to earn the ninth starting position in the 30-lap A-Main. Under the lights at Salina and in front of the packed grandstands, the cool air made for lots of horsepower and a fast and furious feature event. At the start of the A-Main, there was racing everywhere from the front of the field to the back of the pack. Jason was maneuvering and steering around the racy oval using his KSE Racing Products from the comfort of his ButlerBuilt Professional Racing Seat. With high speed action everywhere he was relentless as he raced for position on the track. When front row starter Craig Dollansky took the checkers, Jason charged across the stripe with an eighth place finish. After the race, the Louisiana racer commented, “This is a beautiful facility and the track was fast and racy after yesterday’s rain.” He continued, “I am glad we were able to have a good run tonight. I want to thank all of our sponsorship partners for their support.”
Cajun Completes Podium Run With 3rd Place Finish At Gator Motorplex
WILLIS, Texas (April 20, 2013) – Gator Motorplex’s high banked quarter mile oval is nestled just off the shores of Lake Conroe in Willis, Texas between Huntsville State Park and Sam Houston National Forest. Coming off their win at Heart O’ Texas on Friday night, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team pulled their hauler into the pit area looking for another good showing in the AccuDoc Solutions/Kenny’s Components #41 Maxim at the 2nd Annual Nolan Wren Memorial event. With 37 sprint cars ready to race it was hammer down for all of the competitors when the green lights illuminated around the track. Starting from the outside of the front row in heat race number one, the Ragin’ Cajun used his Roush Yates Ford engine to seize the top spot and capture the heat race victory. After advancing to the A-Main, the team went to work to make sure the Cajun chauffeur could get the most out of the Xtreme Accu-Tach/ Valvoline entry during the 25-lap main event where he would start from the outside of row two. After twenty five competitive laps, Johnson was able to garner his second podium finish of the weekend with a well earned third place as he crossed the finish line behind race winner Aaron Reutzel and runner-up Christopher Bell. The third place finish was his 12th top five finish of the 2013 racing season.
Sensational Run Puts #41 Under Bright Lights Of The Winner’s Circle At Heart O’ Texas Speedway
WACO, Texas (April 19, 2013) – With precipitation across the country changing their original plans, the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team loaded up their race equipment and headed south to Texas in their Kenworth to compete in ASCS Gulf South Region competition at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. With 41 sprint cars lined up in the pits vying for 20 spots in the A-Main field, every driver had to stand on the gas if they wanted one of those precious starting spots. The driver of the Valvoline/ Durst Inc. Maxim was in the second heat race on the outside of row two. With the #45x of Johnny Herrera starting on the front row, the two ASCS National Tour competitors put on a high speed show for the fans over the eight laps with Herrera beating Johnson to the line for the heat race win. With his second place finish, the Cajun Sensation looked to move up one spot in the A-Main when the 25-laps were completed. Good fortune put the Tony Lama Boots/Kinsler Fuel Injection #41 mount on the pole for the start of the A-Main. Using his Roush Yates Ford horsepower, Johnson accelerated quickly and jumped out to the early lead and never looked back. Numerous cautions paused the event, but when the green lights were on the native of Eunice, Louisiana made himself at home on the central Texas racing surface as he beat Johnny Herrera across the winner’s stripe to capture his 52nd ASCS regional victory and his 231st career victory. The win was very meaningful for the Louisianan because it can contribute as a small part of the healing and rebuilding process for for the local community. Heart O’ Texas Speedway is located just south of West, Texas which was ravaged earlier in the week by an explosion that devastated the community. The racing community, as they always do, came together to donate $3,600 as the drivers made their way through the stands collecting for the recovery efforts. A great win for the team, but an even better gesture by the racers and the racing community.
Cajun Puts Some Louisiana Lightning In Victory Lane At Hammer Hill In ASCS National Tour Action
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (April 6, 2013) – After spinning and fighting back to a fourth place finish at Golden Triangle Raceway Park on Friday night, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were ready to get back into victory lane at I-30 Speedway. Always a competitive track to race at for the traveling tour members, there were thirty nine sprint car drivers thirsty for the win. Hammer Hill promoter, Joe Clay, added 250 loads of “river gumbo” to the racing surface and the driver from Eunice, Louisiana certainly likes gumbo. Starting from the pole in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Tony Lama Boots #41 Maxim he took command of the top spot and never looked back winning the qualifying race to advance directly to the big show. In the top eight redraw he pulled the two pill to earn the right to start on the outside of the front row beside speedway regular Zach Pringle for the 30-lap A-Main. With rain throughout the week, the speedway’s new surface was certainly a bit rough and challenging, but Jason had faith his Pro Shocks could absorb the rough track surface while at speed. Pringle jumped out to the early lead with Jason and Johnny Herrera in tow. After an early caution, the top three were leading the way with Herrera getting by Jason in the Fischer Body Shop #41 on lap seven. Herrera then passed Pringle only to have the action stopped on the track when Brandon Hanks flipped his mount right in front of the leaders causing some damage to Herrera’s nose wing. On the restart, Jason claimed the second spot and was working under Herrera when the action was again abruptly halted for Brandon Hahn’s car which was lying on its’ side. When the green flag was re-displayed, Herrera and the Cajun went tire-to-tire with their Hoosier Racing Tires battling for the top spot and exchanging the lead numerous times. The Cajun Sensation grabbed the lead when it counted most on the 28th lap and led the remaining distance for his 71st ASCS National Tour victory and his 230th overall career win. In victory lane, Jason commented on racing with Herrera, “Well that’s a good thing when you can race classy guys like Johnny Herrera. You know you can race them clean, but race them hard.” He continued, “There were times we were bouncing through the holes and trying not to run into anyone, and I will tell you it was a treacherous race track, but it was fun!”
Jason Adds A Cajun Twist To His Fourth Place Finish At Golden Triangle Raceway Park
BEAUMONT, Texas (April 5, 2013) – It was back to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action for Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team on Friday night at Golden Triangle Raceway Park. With thirty seven cars and eager racers prepped and ready to go in the pit area, you definitely knew you needed to be on your game to make the final A-Main field. The three-time ASCS National Champion dialed up his game in the fifth heat race when he used his Roush Yates Ford Engine to charge from his starting spot at the back of the field to capture the runner-up spot when the checkered flag flew. His aggressiveness in the heat race paid off as he made the A-Main redraw and pulled a five pill that lined the MSD Ignition/FK Rod Ends #41 up on the inside of row three for the 30-lap event. When the green flag waved, Jason spun around bringing out the yellow flag and putting him to the back of the pack in the twenty third spot. Now, it was show time in Beaumont, Texas. Cowboy up! When the green lights were re-illuminated the white, black and blue #41 Maxim was on the move and leaving only dust in his path. Inside the cockpit, the Louisiana native was hard at work in his office moving at top speed and splitting the wind with his Vortex Racing Products wings. Making steady progress through the field Jason soon had the leaders in his sights as he made his way into the top five. Not content, he kept his right foot planted and was able to secure another spot in the running order before the checkered flag was displayed for race winner Brad Loyet. Loyet was followed across the line by Ray Allen Kulhanek, Johnny Herrera, and Jason as he made his way back for a hard earned, but exciting, fourth place finish. The team heads to Hammer Hill in Little Rock, Arkansas on Saturday night for more ASCS National Tour action. Come out and catch up with the team and our sponsorship partners!
Ragin’ Cajun Beats A Tough Field Of Competitors To The Winner’s Stripe In NCRA Action At 81 Speedway
PARK CITY, Kansas (March 30, 2013) – Looking to end the month of March in victory lane, the same way he began the month, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr./HM Racing/ JJR team trekked west to 81 Speedway near Wichita, Kansas to complete against a stout field of competitors. As the racing action commenced on the track, the residents of Wichita were already excited as their Wichita State Shockers defeated the Buckeyes from Ohio State 70-66 to advance into the “Final Four” of the NCAA basketball tournament. What they did not know is the speed chauffeur from Eunice, Louisiana was here to add a little more excitement to their evening in his MSD Ignition/Tony Lama Boots #41 Maxim. With a muddy but filled to capacity pit area, each of the drivers knew they would have to be on the power pedal to earn a spot in the A-Main. Starting from the pole in the second heat race, the Cajun buckled the chin strap on his beautifully prepared Shell Shock Arai Helmet and raced to the win over Lucas Wolfe, Tim Crawley, C.J. Johnson, and Danny Lasoski. Moving on to the A-Main, JJ pulled his Durst/Schoenfeld Headers mount into his fourth starting spot and when the green flag waved he was on the hunt to race down leader Don Droud Jr. When the red flag came out on lap ten, the Ragin’ Cajun had caught the leader and was sitting in second place. When racing resumed to two leaders were off again until the caution came out on lap nineteen. JJ was still running in second place but beginning to get tired of the view from that spot. On lap twenty four he changed that view as he used his Roush Yates Ford Engine to power into the top spot and he would not look back as he captured the $5,000-to-win NCRA event over Droud, Seth Bergman, Danny Wood, and Mike Peters. After the victory he explained, “The Stenhouse Jr. Racing team provided me with a fast Maxim hot rod. This was a tough field of cars. This is a great win!”
After Charging To A Tenth Place Finish On Night One At Devil’s Bowl, Rain Washes Out Finale Of 40th annual Spring Nationals
MESQUITE, Texas (March 22, 2013) – The Cajun Sensation was back in familiar territory when they pulled the Stenhouse Jr./HM Racing/JJR hauler into the pit area of Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The famed oval is located just down the road from Greenville, Texas where longtime friends and partners Lanny and Alan Row, owners of The Shop Diesel Service, call home. On night one of the 40th Annual Spring Nationals, forty seven entries were set to qualify at the Matt Clevenger Memorial event. Always a very competitive venue, the driver from Eunice, Louisiana knew he needed to hit his marks and be on top of his game all night. In the second heat event, with the track still relatively narrow, he started seventh and was able to advance up to sixth place at the finish. That result relegated him to the second B-Main event where he was scheduled to start on the outside of row four. Having to secure a top three finishing spot he needed to be up on the wheel at the drop of the green flag. He did just that and used his powerful Roush Yates Ford Engine to propel the K&N Filters #41 Maxim into a qualifying spot. Starting from the 22nd starting position he pedaled down when the ‘go green’ lights illuminated and started his forward assault on the field in the Protect the Harvest 25-lap A-Main. He was on a mission. Once up to speed he was inside the cockpit multi-tasking at high speed. Work for some, but fun for the Louisiana speed racer. When the checkered flag flew over race winner Kyle Bellm’s #14K, Jason had advanced twelve positions to earn a tenth place finish. The top ten finish moved him to the top of the season long Lucas Oil ASCS driver’s points standings with 634 points, a 40 point advantage over second place Johnny Herrera.
Jason Cruises To A Runner-Up Finish In ASCS 305 Shootout Finale In Baughman Motorsports Entry
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (March 16, 2013) – The Louisiana-born racer was back at Southern New Mexico Speedway, nestled in the beautiful Mesilla Valley, in the Baughman Motorsports entry for the finale of the ASCS 305 Shootout. This time out he was looking to improve on his fifth place finish the night before in the Roush Yates Engines/ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems #41. After his teammate for the weekend, Josh Baughman, won the second heat race, Jason pulled his black with red and white graphics mount into the inside of row two to start the third heat race. After eight laps, the three-time ASCS National champion made it back-to-back wins for Baughman Motorsports as he crossed under the checkers for the win. After all the qualifying events were in the books, the Cajun Sensation would start on the inside of row three for the 30-lap A-Main event. In the early stages he maintained his position in the front of the pack with the leaders, but during the last ten laps he made his presence known as he moved into third in the running order and got into a fierce battle for the runner-up spot with Friday night’s winner Christopher Bell. With five laps to go he would now own the second spot and have his sights set on the race leader, Lorne Wofford with a caution flag bunching up the field. But, on the restart, Johnson and Bell would exchange the runner-up spot a few times before Jason took control of it for good. The battle for second gave Wofford time to build an insurmountable lead with the final laps running out. Jason claimed the second spot ahead of Bell, Jeff Swindell, and Royal Jones. Johnson commented after the race, “This was a fun weekend of racing at Southern New Mexico Speedway. The weather was great and the track was racy.” He continued, “We had two top five finishes with Baughman Motorsports.”
Ragin’ Cajun Races To A Fifth Place Finish On Night One Of ASCS 305 Shootout In New Mexico
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (March 15, 2013) – With no races scheduled in the Stenhouse Jr. Racing #41, Jason took advantage of the open weekend and an invitation to drive the Baughman Motorsports entry in the two-day ASCS 305 Shootout being run at the Southern New Mexico Speedway. Having never driven the car before, the three-time ASCS National champion climbed into something familiar when he strapped himself into the ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System. With the familiar number forty one replacing the usual number seventeen on the car, Jason finished fourth in the second eight lap heat race. After working to improve the car’s overall performance, he went out and won the 12-lap B-Main from the pole position. The win would earn him a free pass to the A-Main where he would start from the seventeenth starting spot. A challenging spot for most, but fun for the Ragin’ Cajun who likes to create excitement inside the cockpit for the fans. When the green lights illuminated, the guest chauffeur pounded the power pedal with his heavy right foot and started to put on a show for the fans in he stands. After the event was interrupted early when two cars flipped, the field got back to racing and the Louisianan got rolling. With only 25 laps to make his mark he left no doubt as he raced past one car at a time, sometimes two, to keep moving up on the leader board. When the final black and white checkered flag flew over the field he had moved up twelve spots to secure a fifth place finish. After the race he commented, “We got rolling there in the A-Main as the Baughman Motorsports team did a good job.” They will be back at it Saturday night as they try to improve their finishing position and take the checkered flag to victory lane.
Johnson Races To An 18th Place Finish At Tucson International Raceway In Final Race of Early Season Southwest Tour
TUCSON, Arizona (March 9, 2013) – To be successful you have to continually challenge yourself and your team to see where you are as a driver and program overall. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team took their MVT/Vortex Racing Products #41 Maxim to Tucson International Raceway to compete against the World of Outlaws in the Wildcat Shootout presented by NAPA Auto Parts. While Jason and the team recently visited the 3/8-mile oval with the Lucas Oil ASCS National tour, it was the Outlaws first return trip to the speedway since 2007. With 30 racers vying for the 24 spots in the A-Main field, the evening started with time trials in which Jason cruised around the oval in 12.702 seconds. The time was 22nd quick and put him on the outside of row four in the first heat race. He was able to advance one position to finish seventh. Using the opportunity to make some improvements before the B-Main, the team went to work and Jason slipped on his Shell Shock painted Arai Helmet. Lining up from the fourth position in the 12-lap Last Chance Showdown, he powered his way to a third place finish to advance on to the 30-lap A-Main event. With a powerful field of 410 sprint cars pacing in front of the red, white and blue grandstands the fans were on their feet and ready for some high speed entertainment. They got it when the green flag waved. Further back in the early racing action, the Cajun went to work inside the cockpit using his KSE Racing Products to steer his way around the competition at high speed. When the dust settled around the Southern Arizona racing surface Jason crossed the finish line with an 18th place finish.
Leaving The Vegas Lights Behind, The Cajun Heads South To Tucson International Raceway Looking For A Brighter Tomorrow
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 7, 2013) – To be the best, you have to compete against the best to see where you are as a team. Jason and the team did just that as they competed in the two night World of Outlaw show at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in their K&N Filters/Jonestown KOA Ford powered Maxim. On night one, the Cajun pushed out eleventh for time trials and when all 42 cars completed their two qualifying laps he was scored with the 29th quickest time. Relegated to the back side of the heat lineup he was able to finish eighth, which put him on the inside of row five for the B-Main. When the checkered flag waved he crossed the line with an 8th place finish bringing an early end to his first night of racing action. While not the night they would have liked, the team went back to work and on night two improved their qualifying finish as they were scored 22nd quickest. In the second heat event, the Louisiana native started on the outside of row three, but could not advance his position around the oval as he finished sixth. Finding himself in B-Main, he was scheduled to start from the fourth starting spot but had to go to the work area before the green was displayed when the spark plug wire came off. After making the necessary repairs he joined the rear of the field and put the hammer down as he drove the Stenhouse Jr. Racing entry hard the entire distance to earn a 15th place finish. Jason and the team will head back to Arizona to continue to race with the World of Outlaws at Tucson International Raceway on Saturday night.
Clean Sweep At Cocopah In ASCS National Tour Action Leaves Skies And Competitors Blue, Ford Blue That Is, In Arizona
YUMA, Arizona (March 2, 2013) – Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were determined to make their mark against the tough ASCS National Tour competition at Cocopah this weekend. They did just that as the #41 led every A-Main lap for the weekend. Fifty five laps to be exact in their Roush Yates Ford powered Maxim. After winning night one of the Cocopah Cup Challenge, JJ and the team locked the Durst/ AccuDoc Solutions #41 into one of the top six spots for night two. With the night two winner in the Cocopah Cup Challenge getting a $10,000 share of the purse, it certainly wasn’t hard for the driver and team to stay focused on their winning goals. The evening kicked off with a little excitement as everyone in attendance did their version of the “Harlem Shake”. After all of the qualifying races were completed and the redraw took place their was a Cajun speed dancer sitting on the pole for the 30-lap finale at Cocopah. When the green flag waved, the speed pilot from Eunice, Louisiana did a little shake, rattle, and roll in the cockpit on his way to a dominant weekend performance aboard the Stenhouse Jr. Racing entry. The Cajun Sensation led the field for all 30 laps as he made tracks with his Hoosier Racing Tires and didn’t look back, charging under the checkers to capture the win for the 70th time in ASCS National Tour competition ahead of a hard-charging Lucas Wolfe and Brady Bacon. Wolfe did not make it easy though as he pulled close to the #41 numerous times but was unable to make the pass for the lead before Johnson used lapped traffic to create some distance. After exiting the ButlerBuilt Professional Race Seat of his Maxim and improvising his own version of the “Harlem Shake”, Johnson commented, “My guys told me he was all over me, but I didn’t have no gaps so they signaled to go as hard as you can.” He continued, “You’ve got to hit your marks and not slip up.” He did not slip up and capped off a sensational weekend for the driver and team. Next up they head to the “City of Lights”, Las Vegas, to compete against the formidable World of Outlaws at The Dirt Track.

YUMA, Arizona (March 1, 2013) – Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team spent the week preparing for this night of racing action at Cocopah Speedway. All week the goal and focus never changed . . . the team wanted to put their Roush Yates Ford in victory lane. A win on the opening night of the Cocopah Cup Challenge, while always the goal each and every night they race, would be the perfect gift for Bobbi Johnson on her birthday. The driver and team did not disappoint. Starting from the seventh spot in the second heat race, Jason mashed the power pedal and let the fans and his fellow competitors know he was on a mission as he charged to a second place finish in the eight lap event. Earning a spot in the redraw, his Louisiana luck continued as he drew the pole for the evening’s 25-lap finale. With a potent field of twenty five fast racers, the fans were in for a treat. When the green lights illuminated, Jason powered his blue Ford oval to the front of the pack ahead of fellow front row starter Jeff Swindell and set sail leaving the bow ties behind. Using the high side of the speedway early, the Cajun Sensation powered the Pro Powder Coating/Oakley #41 Maxim around the racy track surface from the top spot. In the latter stages of the event, he moved the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) speedster to the bottom side as he crossed the checkered flag 3.644 seconds ahead of second place finisher Mitch Olsen and third place finisher Tony Stewart. After celebrating his 69th ASCS National career victory, Jason explained, “These guys provided me one fast Maxim hot rod.” He continued, “I could run anywhere on the race track and I had a good car. That’s what happens when you drive good equipment.” In addition to the win, Jason and the team garnered the Hawk Performance Fastest Lap of the Feature and the FSR Radiators High Points of the Night honors. But, they also had a birthday to celebrate with Bobbi to cap off a great night of racing and a very special day for an important member of the team.
Eleventh Place Finish Caps Off Opening Weekend Of ASCS National Competition In The Desert
TUCSON, Arizona (February 23, 2013) – It was the team’s second night out in their new Roush Yates Ford equipment as they circled around Tucson International Raceway’s surface. Starting from the inside of row three in the third heat race, Jason was looking to advance forward as he paced behind Justyn Cox’s #5H. After eight laps he was able to improve his starting position by one spot in the finishing order. Advancing directly to the 30 lap A-Main, he lined up from the sixteenth starting position after buckling into his Crow Enterprizes safety belts. When the green flag waved, front row starters Brian Brown and Roger Crockett brought the fans to their feet as the twenty three powerful ASCS sprint cars cranked up their engines. Wheeling his Fischer Body Shop/Mesilla Valley Transportation #41 Maxim from his high speed office, Jason was on the move using every space as an opportunity to move up the leader board. A red flag was displayed on lap two for a flipping Brandon Hahn. When the field restarted, so did the driver of the forty one. On a night where passing was at a premium, Jason was doing his best to put on a good show while securing a good finishing position. When the last lap was scored he had advanced five positions forward and secured an eleventh place finish. After the race, Jason commented, “This weekend was tough and didn’t work out as we had hoped, but we will continue to work hard and be ready for Cocopah next weekend.” Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team stay in the Grand Canyon State as they head to Yuma, Arizona for two nights of ASCS National Tour racing action at Cocopah Speedway. Cajun Overcomes Obstacles In ASCS National Tour Opener At Tucson International Raceway With Eighth Place Finish
TUCSON, Arizona (February 22, 2013) – After a busy few weeks of preparation, Jason Johnson and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing #41 team unloaded their beautifully prepared Ford for racing action at Tucson International Raceway in the ASCS National Tour opener. The night and season for the team started from the outside of the front row in the fifth heat race. When the green flag waved, the need for speed kicked in as the powerful field headed for turn one. Throughout the eight lap event, Jason and his Roush Yates Ford powered mount experienced some mechanical issues relegating him to a fourth place finish. When he got back to the pit area Philip, Tim, and Jamie went to work to address the problem. After skipping the B-Main and electing to use a provisional, the defending champion was determined to put on a good show in his Mesilla Valley Transportation #41 Maxim from the 23rd starting spot. And he did just that when the green lights illuminated around the speedway. Doing what he does best from the comforts of his ButlerBuilt Professional Racing Seat, he used his Ford horsepower to make his way forward in the fast and competitive field. A red flag on lap seven gave the driver and crew an opportunity to evaluate their equipment and strategy and when the green flag was shown to the field again it was back to the high speed action. As leader Brian Brown brought the field under the checkers, Jason charged his way to a respectable eighth place finish to earn the PitStopUSA.com Hard Charger Award. The Louisiana driver and his crew will go back to work again on Saturday night at Tucson International Raceway looking to improve on their finishing position. If you are in the area, be sure to stop and catch up with the team and their sponsorship partners.
