JOHNSON’S NIGHT UNDER THE LAS VEGAS LIGHTS ENDS EARLY WITH A SEVENTH PLACE RUN IN THE LAST CHANCE SHOWDOWN AGAINST THE OUTLAWS
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (March 6, 2014) – Jason and the #41 team were back at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas for night two of the FVP Showdown with the World of Outlaws. As the sun began to set in the desert, 37 formidable sprint cars and drivers lined up in the pit area ready to race. Time trials were the first order of business and when Jason circled the big half-mile oval in 15.051 seconds he was hoping his time would hold up to lock down one of the 16 inversion positions. When all was said and done, his run in the Waco Metals/Valvoline Maxim was good enough for 22nd quick overall. Heat races were next on the evening’s agenda as he rolled his Weld Racing/www.racediecast.com machine out onto the speedway for the second heat race and pulled to the outside of row three into his sixth starting spot. When the green flagged waved, he got his elbows up and went to work inside the cockpit of his Maxim. Unfortunately, when the checkered flag was displayed he had raced hard but came home with a sixth place finish. Forced to run the Last Chance Showdown, he was slated to start in the third spot but was moved back one row for reporting to the staging area late. The uphill climb on this evening continued as the race went green and the team’s night of racing ended early as he crossed the line in seventh missing out on a transfer spot. The team will continue to work hard and get back at it again on Saturday night at Tucson International Raceway against the World of Outlaws.
