JASON WAS NOT THE “LONE STAR” IN VICTORY LANE AS HE DEDICATES HIS WIN AT BATTLEGROUND SPEEDWAY TO HIS FALLEN FRIEND AND TEAM MEMBER PATRICK SILVA
HIGHLANDS, TEXAS (April 5, 2014) – On the back end of the ASCS Gulf South Region double at Battleground Speedway, Jason and the JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team had their sights set on earning a win in the Waco Metals/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim. Garnering wins in today’s competitive sprint car world is certainly not an easy task, but after locking in to the redraw with his fourth place finish on Friday night he was ready to stand on the top step of the podium. He started the 25-lap feature event from the outside front row beside Friday night’s winner Seth Bergman. Bergman would seize the early lead, but the Ragin’ Cajun kept him in his crosshairs as he peered over his Vortex Racing Products front wing. The two ASCS National stars entertained the crowd as they raced at the front of the pack. The two speedsters started to chase down those running at the tail of the field and when opportunity presented itself in traffic late in the race, the Cajun Sensation took advantage of the top spot and held it as he crossed the finish line first ahead of Sam Hafertepe, Jr. and Bergman to collect his 240th career victory. This win was special for other reasons though as Josh Baughman and the entire JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team donned their Los Angeles Dodgers hats backwards as Patrick Silva always did in a salute to their fallen friend and team member who passed away recently. Jason dedicated the win to Patrick Silva as well as his family and friends.
