IT’S OFFICIAL! JASON JOHNSON IS THE 2014 LUCAS OIL ASCS NATIONAL TOUR CHAMPION! JASON AND THE STENHOUSE JR. RACING TEAM, SPONSORS AND SUPPORTERS CELEBRATE THEIR FIFTH CHAMPIONSHIP
GREENVILLE, TEXAS (November 18, 2014) – Jason and the team patiently waited for the test results on their cylinder heads after a competitor protested them immediately following the conclusion of Saturday night’s final event when the defending and 4-Time ASCS National Tour champion completed an epic comeback to win the points title with his runner-up finish in the last race of the season.
The driver, team, sponsors, family members, and Ragin’ Cajun fans across the country and in Australia delayed their celebration as they waited while ASCS officials tested the heads at Brodix in Mena, Arkansas. On Tuesday afternoon the call came from ASCS Competition Director, Matt Ward, confirming with them what they already knew . . . the cylinder heads used in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Fischer Body Shop #41 were 100% legal. Case closed.
Jason professionally responded by stating. “It was an unbelievable season.” He continued, “Maybe not the ideal season, but I am proud of this Stenhouse Jr. Racing team for keeping their heads in the game, and for all of our supporters for staying with us week in and week out, and being there when it came down to crunch time.”
Looking back on a season where his patience and professionalism were tested many times, on and off the track, the man from Eunice, Louisiana, who has had a passion for racing since early in his life showed his maturity, patience and professionalism at all times throughout the season. It paid off. Congratulations Jason Johnson and the entire Stenhouse Jr. Racing team on your 2014 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Championship! You are truly a deserving 5-time champion, both as a driver and an owner, and a great ambassador for the sport of sprint car racing . . . Cajun style!
