THE RAGIN’ CAJUN CAPTURES A MEMORABLE VICTORY IN THE TRIBUTE TO JESSE HOCKETT EVENT AT DOUBLE-X SPEEDWAY ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

CALIFORNIA, MISSOURI (May 25, 2014) – The late Jesse Hockett was truly a revered individual, driver and fellow competitor wherever he raced at tracks around the country. But none more so than Double-X Speedway. This was his stomping grounds on Sunday nights and he put on a show each and every time he visited the track. On this night, the track was honoring Jesse Hockett’s legacy in the sport and at the track as 30 drivers showed up to pay their respects by putting on an exciting show. The grandstands were absolutely packed. In fact, you couldn’t even find a seat to sit in. Some in attendance just had to stand to enjoy the night of racing action. The energy in the stands was just electric.

When the first of the four ASCS Warrior Region heat races rolled out onto the quarter mile, semi-banked oval the fans were ready for the show. Buried back in the seventh starting spot was the ‘Cajun show maker’ who now calls Rocky Mount, Missouri home in the Fischer Body Shop/Tony Lama Boots #41 Maxim. With only eight laps to get the job done, the Ragin’ Cajun needed to use his right foot to summon everything his Don Ott Racing Engine could supply. When the green flag waved over the heat race he certainly did not disappoint as he did his best to provide some exciting action for the fans. He motored all the way up to the second spot to secure a runner-up finish and advance to the 30-lap feature event.

After climbing back into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System, the Cajun racer rolled out onto the speedway to get aligned in his feature starting spot. When Josh Fisher accepted the Hockett Challenge to tag the rear in an attempt to earn some extra cash reward, Jason slid up to the front row in the Stenhouse Jr. Racing/CURB Agajanian Performance Group entry. When the green flag waved, the Louisiana native bolted into the lead. He was fast and hitting his marks. Always tough Kyle Bellm, who was driving the Jack Hockett owned #77, was determined to race for the win and was pushing the action. The Cajun was not interested in relinquishing the lead and held it for the entire 30 laps to take the victory ahead of Bellm, Randy Martin, Jay Russell with Bryan Grimes rounding out the top five. The win was Jason’s second victory in a little over 24 hours and his fifth overall in 2014. He boosted his career win total to 243 victories. The proud winner was honored to win this race in honor of the late Jesse Hockett. Wins like this are always special. He also took a moment to remember the late Patrick Silva, a team member who they lost earlier this year unexpectedly, as he donned his Los Angeles Dodgers hat in victory lane. A great and memorable win for the driver and the team during this Memorial Day weekend. While wins are always special, this one will be remembered for a long time by the team and everyone in attendance.
