THE FORTY ONE’S NIGHT COMES TO A HARD END WITH A WRECK AT FEDERATED AUTO PARTS RACEWAY AT I-55 AGAINST THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS RESULTING IN A 20TH PLACE FINISH

PEVELY, MISSOURI (April 26, 2014) – The JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team followed the World of Outlaws to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 for another night of competition on the fast and technical 3/8th-mile, high banked surface just southwest of St. Louis. After a series of good runs against the 410 traveling series, Jason and the team were looking at continuing their consistency, while moving up the scoring pylon when the checkered flag waved in the Spring Classic event. There were 30 cars in the pit area and when time trials were completed the Fischer Body Shop/Weld Racing Maxim was 15th quick with a lap of 11.459 seconds. Starting from the fifth starting position in the third 10-lap heat race, Jason was on the accelerator and making headway each lap as he improved his position and crossed the finish line in fourth behind Kraig Kinser, Brian Brown and Paul McMahan to lock into the 40-lap feature event. With the cushion slowly creeping up closer and closer to the wall and the track slicking off you could not afford to make a mistake. When the feature converted from the slow pacing speed to high speed action, Jason was in stalking mode in the Schoenfeld Headers/ISC Racers Tape #41 from the eighth row. Early action was halted when pole sitter Brad Sweet jumped the cushion and got into the wall. When racing resumed, Brian Brown and Kerry Madsen fell victim to the tricky surface with only Madsen able to rejoin the field. It was clear getting through the turns was a science, not an art on this night. You could not afford to miss your marks. The race was on again and the Ragin’ Cajun was looking to continue to move forward into a top ten spot. But, on lap 21 while running thirteenth, Jason wrecked hard racing for position as he hooked the cushion and got into the wall and upside down leaving Cody Darrah with nowhere to go as he crashed into the top of the roll cage of the #41 Maxim Chassis. Jason was fortunately OK and walked away from the incident unharmed. Sammy Swindell would go on to win the Spring Classic ahead of Joey Saldana, Donny Schatz, David Gravel with Daryn Pittman rounding out the top five. A night that ended early for the JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team resulted in a 20th place finish against some of the best 410 racers in the country.
