JOHNSON ROUNDS ‘EM UP IN EL PASO AS HE PARKS THE MVT #41 IN VICTORY LANE IN ASCS SOUTHWEST 305 SERIES SHOOTOUT
EL PASO, TEXAS (March 14, 2014) – The boys from JJR were back at the track in El Paso, Texas for the ASCS Southwest 305 Series Shootout presented by Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT). There were 29 racers ready to roll at El Paso Speedway Park and the team from Rocky Mount, Missouri was ready to secure their first win of the season in the MVT/Curb Records Maxim. Starting from the third spot in his heat race, the green flag waved and Jason immediately started to chase pole sitter Jeff Swindell. The two ASCS National stars put on a show over the eight laps with Swindell taking the win followed closely by the Cajun. The performance advanced him to the main event where he found himself on the inside of row four for the 30-lap affair. Front row starters, Royal Jones and Jeff Swindell, brought the field up to speed as Jason went to work inside his office. Comfortably situated in his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System, he dropped his right foot and made his way into the top five early on. He wasn’t done as he was coming on fast as Derek Drown was in a three-way battle for the lead with race leader Jeff Swindell and Aaron Reutzel. But, it was the Ragin’ Cajun taking over the second spot on the thirteenth circuit as he peered through the shield of his Arai Helmet looking to steal the top spot. He did just that with 13 laps to go as he passed Aaron Reutzel in the Stenhouse Jr. Racing machine and did not look back as he parked it in victory lane for the first time in 2014. The win was his 239th career victory. After the race Jason commented, “That was fun. Our Maxim was great tonight and we were able to track them down to get the win.” He continued, “I am glad we were able to get our first win of the season on the board here at El Paso Speedway Park.”
