JOHNSON RACES TO A 15TH PLACE FINISH WITH WORLD OF OUTLAWS AT EL PASO SPEEDWAY PARK IN HIS MESILLA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION (MVT)/MSD PERFORMANCE #41
EL PASO, TEXAS (April 15, 2014) – The Jason Johnson Racing/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team headed west in Texas to MVT Country to race against the formidable World of Outlaws at El Paso Speedway Park. The Cajun Sensation took to the track third in the time trial order and ran a lap of 13.796 seconds, which was 15th quick overall when all was said and done. Heat race action was next on the racing agenda and the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/K&N Filters #41 Maxim lined up on the inside of row three to start the third 8-lap qualifying race. Pole sitter Kerry Madsen took off quickly at the green, while Jason Johnson and Kraig Kinser raced wheel-to-wheel for the fifth spot on a track that was very slick with a thin cushion. Jason and Kraig exchanged the spot a number of times throughout the closing laps, but when the checkered flag flew over the heat race Kinser captured the fifth spot with Jason chasing close behind in the sixth position. For the 30-lap main event, Jason buckled his Crow Enterprizes safety belts and tightened the chinstrap on his new Shell Shock painted lid. It was race time! Jason paced in front of the capacity crowd in his MSD Performance/Brown & Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS) Maxim from his 15th starting spot. MSD Performance is headquartered in El Paso, so El Paso Speedway Park is their home track and Section E of the grandstands was filled with their wonderful employees and their family members. When the yellow lights changed to green it was ‘go’ time and the Louisiana racer pushed the loud pedal to the floor to call for all the horsepower from his Don Ott Racing Engine. He moved forward early as he made his way up as far as tenth throughout the early and mid-stages of the event, but when the checkered flag waved over race winner Kerry Madsen, the Cajun finished where he started in the 15th position.
