JOHNSON BLASTS TO A PODIUM FINISH AT JACKSON SPEEDWAY IN THE 7TH ANNUAL FOLKEN BROTHERS SPRING SPRINT NATIONALS WITH A THIRD PLACE FINISH

JACKSON, MINNESOTA (July 3, 2014) – The busy Independence Day weekend of racing continued for Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing boys as they made their way to Jackson Speedway for the 7th Annual Folken Brothers Spring Sprint Car Nationals, which was being made up on this date as it got rained out earlier in the year. There were 35 sprint cars pit side and an equal number of drivers eager to get started for a shot at the $10,000 winner’s share of the purse. Names like Brian Brown, Roger Crockett, Scotty Thiel, Dusty Zomer, Scott Winter, Lee Grosz, Justin Henderson and Danny Lasoski are just a few of the hot shoes that were there to compete for the top spot. In addition to those names, the Eunice, Louisiana native and four-time ASCS National Champion had his Fischer Body Shop/Fuel Safe Racing Cells #41 ready to go for the night.

When qualifying action got started, the Cajun was ready to roll around the big half mile fairground speedway. When the green lights were illuminated, Jason powered his way down the backstretch making the corn fields look like a blur as he got his Don Ott Racing Engine up to speed. Fighting for track position, he advanced one position in the running order to finish in the fourth spot when the checkered flag was displayed locking him into the prestigious Folken Brothers feature event.

As the remainder of qualifying action continued, including the Danny Williams Memorial Race for the non-qualifiers, Philip and the JJR crew were hard at work trying to make the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Xtreme Accu-Tach machine better for their driver. When the feature field was set and rolled onto the speedway for the money paying portion of the night, Jason rolled his Hoosier Racing Tires into his thirteenth starting position. Peering through the shield of his Arai Helmet, he knew he had his work cut out to get the forty one to the front of the pack. He was up to the task from the comfort of his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System. When the flag man waved the ‘go fast’ flag over the field, the Ragin’ Cajun got his elbows up and started to make his charge forward. Using his KSE Racing Products, he steered his way around the fast and racy half mile, as well as his competition, as he continued to climb the leader board. A relentless competitor, the driver of the forty one is never satisfied and kept pounding the loud pedal as he made his way into the top five. He was up as far as second place when the red flag came out. When racing resumed, he continued to pursue the victory, but eventually settled for the third step on the podium as he followed Brian Brown and Danny Lasoski across the finish line. The third place finish was Jason’s 15th top five finish of the year – a 41.67% top five success rate. A very strong podium run and showing for Jason and the entire Stenhouse Jr. Racing team.
