CAJUN SENSATION PASSES ELEVEN CARS AT “THE DITCH” IN THE ROCK-N-ROLL 50 TO EARN AN EIGHTH PLACE FINISH IN ASCS NATIONAL COMPETITION

WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS (May 3, 2014) – The ASCS National Tour visited Riverside International Speedway, which is affectionately nicknamed “The Ditch”, for the running of the Rock-N-Roll 50. While the winner’s check is always welcomed by the victor, the racers on this night are all focused on also trying to win the customized Gibson guitar that goes along with the winner’s check. Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing crew were 1 of 33 cars in the pits with their sights set on taking the winner’s share on this night. After climbing into his fire suit emblazoned with the Fischer Body Shop logo and his other valued sponsors, he crawled in the cockpit of his Maxim Chassis in preparation for the second of four heat races. The eight lap race was loaded with talent and he was set to start from the sixth position in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Kenny’s Components #41. As the eight cars roared passed the green flag every driver was jockeying for position on the track. Outside front row starter, Tim Crawley, took the win followed by Johnny Herrera, Ronny Howard, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. with the Cajun Sensation rounding out the top five. Unable to lock into one of the feature qualifying spots based on points, the team prepared the Winters Performance/Ben Cook Racing Products mount for the B-Main, where he would start third and hold his position at the finish line to advance to the prestigious Rock-N-Roll 50 finale. Starting from the tenth row in the feature meant one thing for sure – the Ragin’ Cajun would do his part to put on a show to entertain the fans. He likes to go fast, turn left, and pass cars. With almost a full field of competition in front of him he would need to do just that in order to record a respectable finish. Fifty laps is a lot of laps, but they certainly go fast around the quarter-mile, high banked gumbo oval. You have to be digging from the very beginning to the end or you will be the one getting passed. When front row starters Derek Hagar and Tim Crawley brought the field to the green, everyone was maneuvering for position. Jason was putting the nose of his Gleco Plating Inc./www.racediecast.com Maxim in any open space trying to take away positions. The racing was terrific throughout the field as Hagar and Crawly were putting on a spirited battle for the lead. Jason was moving forward as he cracked the top ten and had his sights set on the next position. When the black and white checkered cloth waved over the field Hagar won the guitar followed by Crawley, Brad Loyet, Jeff Swindell and Johnny Herrera. The Ragin’ Cajun stormed his way to a very respectable eighth place finish despite starting deep in the field. His work and efforts on this night kept him atop the early season ASCS National Tour points with 838 points, an eleven point advantage over second place Brad Loyet.
