AN ELEVENTH PLACE FINISH AT THE EAGLE NATIONALS FOR JOHNSON AND THE STENHOUSE JR. RACING TEAM

EAGLE, NEBRASKA (May 31, 2014) – The ASCS National Tour moved to Eagle Raceway for the next round of action on another beautiful day for racing. The grandstands were packed with fans and there were 32 drivers ready to roll around the fast and racy 1/3-mile, high banked clay oval. One of those entries was Jason Johnson in the AccuDoc Solutions/Serratelli Hat Company #41.

After a strong run at Salina on Friday night, the team was looking for another strong and consistent night of racing action and results. When the heat race lineups were posted, the native of Eunice, Louisiana was slated to start dead last in the fourth and final heat race in his Maxim. He rolled onto the speedway with his Weld Racing Wheels and Hoosier Racing Tires and was ready to stand on the gas. The early heat race action was halted promptly though as Brandon Hanks’ #3H got upside down. When racing resumed, the Cajun got to work using his KSE Racing Products to steer his way forward through the field of competitors. Billy Alley would take the heat race win followed by Blake Hahn, Tony Bruce, Jr., Seth Bergman with Jason rounding out the top five.

Advancing to the 30-lap main event, the fireworks erupted over the driver’s three-wide salute to the fans filling up the sky with lots of color and noise. Meanwhile, when the racers broke the three-wide formation they aligned two-by-two as they awaited the green flag. The Fischer Body Shop/Kinsler Fuel Injection #41 Maxim was back in row seven on the inside when the green flag was displayed over the field. Twenty two cars roared past the starters stand. Things happen quickly around this bullring styled track and everyone’s elbows were up inside their cockpits. There was racing for positions everywhere you looked around the track. The Cajun Sensation was just looking for a break or small opening to put his nose in to gain a position, but the opportunities were few and far between. When the dust settled around the speedway and the checkered flag waved, Brad Loyet would take the victory ahead of Johnny Herrera, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Aaron Reutzel, with Blake Hahn rounding out the top five. Jason had to settle for an 11th place run on this night at the Eagle Nationals. The team will regroup and head to Tennessee’s Lexington 104 Speedway next Friday night for the next round of ASCS National Tour competition.
