A THIRD PLACE PODIUM FINISH IN MVT COUNTRY AT SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO SPEEDWAY ON NIGHT TWO OF THE ASCS SOUTHWEST 305 SHOOTOUT

LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO (March 15, 2014) – After tallying their first win of the season on Friday night at El Paso Speedway Park, Jason and the JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team were eagerly looking to add to their win total on Saturday night at Southern New Mexico Speedway on the second night of the ASCS Southwest 305 Shootout presented by MVT. The first order of business was to get qualified through his heat race that had names like Jeff Swindell, Brady Bacon and Wes Wofford trying to do the same thing. As the cars paced around waiting for the green to fall, Jason patrolled the field from his seventh starting spot. When the racing action got moving, so did the Louisiana showman in the AccuDoc Solutions/Kinsler Fuel Injection #41 Maxim. He used his right foot to summon the power and his left foot to finesse his way past the competition as he finished fourth behind the top three starters Wofford, Bacon, and Swindell after eight laps. His passing prowess earned him an outside front row starting spot along side pole sitter Shawn Petersen for the 30-lap finale. When the green cloth waved over the feature field, Johnson moved into the lead aboard his FK Rod Ends/K&N Filters mount over Petersen, Johnny Herrera and John Carney II. He would hold the lead for the first 16 laps on a slick track that had grooves on both the top and bottom as the leaders chased down the back of the pack. Brady Bacon was coming fast aboard his Minks Motorsports #199 and Johnson, Bacon, and Carney went three wide for the lead in traffic with Bacon coming out on top. Bacon extended his lead as the Ragin’ Cajun was trading slide jobs with Carney for the runner-up spot under the southwest stars. Carney would get by late to follow Bacon across the line in the second spot with Johnson, in his Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41, settling for third. A very fun and competitive weekend of racing in MVT country.
