A PRODUCTIVE NIGHT AT KNOXVILLE RACEWAY RESULTS IN A WIN IN THE 360 DIVISION AND A 13TH PLACE FINISH IN THE 410 DIVISION

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (May 24, 2014) – What is there not to like about Knoxville Raceway on a Saturday night during racing season? The answer is absolutely nothing. The pits are always filled with great sprint cars. The Dunkins always have the track prepared well, so the racing is always tremendous. And, you get to see some of the best sprint car racers in the country do what they love to do around the big half mile. So how can you make the experience any better? Well you race in multiple divisions on the same night to maximize your time and the experience. That is exactly what Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing boys did on Saturday night in the Fischer Body Shop/Weld Racing #41 Maxim.

In the 360 division, there were 26 competitors that took to the track for time trials. The Cajun Sensation went out late, but turned a good lap in 16.781 seconds, which was 7th quickest overall. In the first heat race, he lined up in the fourth spot and finished in the same spot as he followed Nate Van Haaften, Matt Juhl and Justin Henderson across the finish line to advance to the A-Main. After climbing into his cockpit and securing the helmet strap of his Shell Shock custom painted Arai Helmet, he pushed out of the pit area to his outside front row starting spot for 15 laps of high speed racing action. Pacing around the black clay oval, he was focused on his winning race strategy. When the initial green was waved in the air, the Cajun speedster went high to the cushion as third starting Russ Hall snuck underneath him on the bottom through one and two. But action was halted after Jonathan Cornell slid sideways on the front stretch and collected a few other competitors. On the restart, Jason hugged the bottom in the Waco Metals/AccuDoc Solutions entry and seized the lead. Out front in clean air he set sail in the forty one. After a few cautions regrouped the field, he pounded the loud pedal and separated himself as he collected the win, his fourth overall in the 2014 season, ahead of Hall, Jon Agan, Jamie Ball, and Justin Henderson. On top of the podium the winner explained, “On the start, I went to the top of one and two and Hall actually drove by me on the bottom.” He continued, “I was actually surprised he opened the bottom back up on the restart. There was actually quite a bit of moisture there. After that, I just wanted to hit my marks and get a rhythm as fast as I could. This is our third week in a row here, and we’ve been struggling. I can’t say enough about these Stenhouse Jr. guys and this race team.”

After the victory lane celebration, he climbed into the cockpit of his 410 sprinter and buckled his Crow  Enterprizes 5-way safety restraint belts to push out for the feature where he would start from the 17th starting position. Earlier in the evening he went out 26th for time trials and circled the oval in 16.183 seconds, which was 21st overall. He then started seventh in his heat and ran sixth to advance to the A-Main. When the racing action got started in the 20-lap feature, pole sitter Craig Dollansky was out front showing the way, but a little further back Johnson’s Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Don Ott Racing Engines #41 was fast. He worked his way as far forward as eleventh, but eventually would finish in the 13th position in the running order as Dollansky collected the win after a great race with Davey Heskin. Heskin would go on to finish second as Justin Henderson, Danny Lasoski and Terry McCarl rounded out the top five.
