GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE: PHILIP DIETZ’S HARD WORK AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL ARE RECOGNIZED AND HONORED WITH THE 2020 CREW CHIEF OF THE YEAR AWARD BY THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS
ROCKY MOUNT, MISSOURI (November 12, 2020) – There are so many good, hard working and authentic people associated with sprint car racing and World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. These individuals work tirelessly behind the scenes to give their driver and team the best chance to perform at their highest level each and every night. Their work starts well before they arrive at the track and then continues when the dust settles as they travel up and down the road to the next track while maintaining their equipment for the next competition. While these drivers and teams are competitors on the track, the comradery and teamwork the crews display to each other is always on display and is enviable.
Philip Dietz is the seasoned crew chief and leader at Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) that makes sure every nut and bolt is twisted one last time in addition to managing the engine program and all of the team’s travel logistics. Throughout the 2020 racing season he partnered and collaborated with Clyde Knipp and Nate Repetz to make sure they did everything they could to give David Gravel, Parker Price-Miller and Shane Stewart the best shot at success when they buckled into the seat of the JJR #41. That resulted in 8 World of Outlaw victories (7 for David Gravel and 1 for Shane Stewart) plus two other wins by David Gravel in the Drydene 40 at Lincoln Speedway and the Governors Reign at Eldora. In addition, Philip wrenched the Dietz Motorsports #14 entry that Parker Price-Miller drove to victory at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa back in July in World of Outlaws competition.
For all of his dedication and hard work, Philip was honored during the virtual year-end banquet as the 2020 World of Outlaws (WoO) Crew Chief of the Year. This was the second time Philip has been recognized by the premier series in sprint car racing as he also earned the award in 2016.
Congratulations Philip Dietz – 2020 WoO Crew Chief of the Year!
