FRIDAY FUN IN THE SUN: CARSON MACEDO HUSTLES TO SECURE ANOTHER PODIUM RUN DURING THE THIRD NIGHT OF THE 55TH ANNUAL FEDERATED AUTO PARTS DIRTCAR NATIONALS TRUCKING IN THE MESILLA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION (MVT) #41
DE LEON SPRINGS, FLORIDA (February 6, 2026) – When the checkered flag flew to end the opening night of racing at Volusia Speedway Park on Wednesday night, Carson was the second driver to cross underneath the waving black and white cloth in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 to capture a podium run behind race winner Spencer Bayston in his first race aboard the Stenhouse Jr. Marshall Racing #17 to start the World of Outlaws (WoO) season (NOTE: The opening race on Wednesday was a WoO non-points race).
The racing action scheduled on Thursday night washed out forcing the drivers and teams to wait to get back onto the track until Friday. When the sun came up over the eastern shoreline of Florida, Philip Dietz was up and already hard at work along with Robby McQuinn and Adam Zimmerman to get Carson’s speed chariot prepared again for another night of action at the 55th Annual Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
There were 43 competitive 410 teams back and parked throughout the sprint car pit area, like guardians overlooking Volusia’s infamous gator pond, ready to put on a show World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series style in the Sunshine State of Florida!

World of Outlaws officials divided the large field of racers into two groups again for Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying with the JJR #41 slated to be the sixth car out in Flight B. Carson was laser focused on laying down two solid laps around this high speed joint. He buckled into his Crow Enterprizes safety belts and tightened the chin strap of his custom Bell Helmet. Joining him out on the track in the race against the clock in two-car qualifying was Creed Kemenah #15K. When Carson’s engine fired under the Prime Composite Innovations carbon fiber hood of the forty-one, Carson let it rip as he powered up as he sped towards the green flag. He quickly raced into the first set of turns and churned down the backstretch with a full head of steam. When he tripped the timing light to end his first lap the clock read 13.254 seconds which catapulted him to the top of the speed charts in Flight B. He still had work to do keeping his right foot planted on the power button trying to pick up speed on lap two. When he crossed the finish line to end his session his second lap recorded in 13.268 seconds. The faster of Carson’s two qualifying attempts positioned the Tarlton and Son/Border International/PWR Advanced Cooling Technology #41 Maxim as quick time overall in Flight B. David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 sat at the top of the speed charts in Flight A and overall, for the night with a lap of 13.192 seconds to earn his 146th career Simpson Quick Time Award.
Following time trials, race officials compiled the starting lineups for the four Heat races based on qualifying results from each of the groups. That meant Carson Macedo would line the Scott Boyd Family/BR Motorsports/Motor State Distributing #41 up in WIX Filters Heat Race #3 alongside Scotty Theil #16C on the front row. The front row starters were followed by Parker Price-Miller and Ryan Timms in row two, Ashton Torgerson #1a and Austin McCarl #88 in row three with Hank Davis #17GP, Daison Pursley #9, Danny Sams III #0D, Cameron Martin #4, and Creed Kemenah #15K filling in behind in the remaining rows.
Carson did not waste any time when it was officially time to go racing as he jumped into the early lead aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 ahead of Thiel and Timms. The Lemoore, California native remained focused and fast. He kept his right foot planted in the accelerator and extended his lead with each completed lap. He would not be challenged and led the qualifying race from start to finish to collect his first Heat race win of the season. Parker Price-Miller past Scotty Thiel late to come home in the runner-up position with Ryan Timms and Austin McCarl rounding out the top five.
Carson’s night would continue as he was eligible for his first Toyota Dash of the season where he would start on the inside of row four from the seventh spot beside Logan Schuchart #1s following the redraw. Buddy Kofoid #83 and Garet Williamson #23 would pace the field from the front row with Anthony Macri #39M and David Gravel #2 right behind in row two. Justin Peck #26 and Parker Price-Miller #71 held down row three as the field rolled towards the frontstretch to take the green flag. They were on the gas with Williamson driving into the early lead ahead of Kofoid and Gravel. Carson settled into the seventh position during the six laps. Garet Williamson led wire-to-wire crossing the finish line ahead of Kofoid, Gravel, Macri, and Schuchart. Parker Price-Miller finished sixth, Carson locked down the seventh position with Justin Peck scored eighth.

The 27 car field, including provisional starters, started to roll out onto the track surface to prepare for the 25-Lap feature on the third night at the 55th Annual Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals. The first four row in the starting lineup were set based on the Toyota Dash finishing order. Carson sat in his Maxim Racing entry waiting to get his high speed excursion started from the seventh position in row four beside Justin Peck in the Rudeen Racing #26.
Garet Williamson #23, Buddy Kofoid #83, David Gravel #2, and Anthony Macri #39m paced on the front row when they went four wide with the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Boltz Family/CASM Safety System #41 Maxim of Carson Macedo highlighted in row two with Logan Schuchart #1s, Parker Price-Miller #71, and Justin Peck#23. It was time to go racing at Volusia Speedway Park.
They realigned neatly side-by-side and off turn four before the air filled with the roar of sprint car engines. Buddy Kofoid drove the Roth Motorsports #83 into the early race lead with Williamson and Macri trying to keep pace. Carson was running in the eighth spot at the end of lap one moving by Parker Price-Miller the next time around to take over seventh.
The first caution flag flew for Tanner Holmes in the Buch Motorsports #13 when he slowed to a stop on the top side of turns three and four. Carson would restart from the inside of row four with Kofoid setting the pace out front. They action was short-lived though as the yellow lights turned back on for a multi-car accident on the backstretch involving Sam Hafertepe Jr., Ryan Timms, and Kasey Jedrzejek.
This time when they went back to green flag racing it would be a single file restart with Buddy Kofoid on the point. The driver of the Toyota/Mobil 1 #83 seized the top spot as Anthony Macri moved into the runner-up position as he raced by Garet Williamson. Just behind them, Carson moved into the sixth spot with four laps in the books as his attention turned to Logan Schuchart looking for a spot in the top five.
He would get the fifth spot as both he and Schuchart raced by Williamson at the midway point of the race with Kofoid, Gravel, and Macri holding down the top three positions in the running order. Carson had a fast hotrod. Anthony Macri and Logan Schuchart were directly ahead of him, and it was about to become a three car battle for the show position.
On lap 20, Carson drove the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 by both to take command of the third spot on the scoreboard with five laps to go. Now his mission was to see if he could track down leader Buddy Kofoid and two-time WoO Champion David Gravel who was running in the second spot as the remaining laps dwindled down. The top two racers were battling for position one with the Californian in stalk mode.
Carson was able to close the gap on second place running David Gravel a bit, but Buddy Kofoid raced to the win. It was Kofoid on the top step of the podium joined by David Gravel who raced home second and Carson Macedo who secured the third spot. Two consecutive good finishes for Carson Macedo and his forty-one teammates!
With three nights now in the books and one final remaining at Volusia Speedway Park for the 55th Annual Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) team was looking to keep building early season momentum when they return on Saturday night for the DIRTcar Nationals finale at the Sunshine State speed plant.
