DUELING FOR CASH: THESE HIGH SPEED ATHLETES PERFORMED ON THE HIGH BANKS AT HUSET’S SPEEDWAY IN THE $150K-TO-WIN FINALE OF THE HEFTY SEED HUSET’S HUSTLE WITH CARSON MACEDO ROLLING HOME WITH A TOP 15 FINISH

BRANDON, SOUTH DAKOTA (June 18, 2026) – On Wednesday night after the roar of sprint car engines subsided after the black and white checkered cloth flew over the Huset’s Hustle preliminary night feature field, a familiar face celebrated the win in victory lane – Buddy Kofoid – with Carson and the team’s night ending abruptly after he flipped in turn three early in the race to finish in 24th place. Despite the accident Carson accumulated 457 event points throughout the night which positioned him 24th in overall points out of 50 entries heading into Thursday night’s action. Buddy Kofoid was at the top of the point chart with 544 points followed by Sheldon Haudenschild (533 points), Garet Williamson (528 points), and Austin McCarl (527 points) with Cole Macedo in the TwoC Racing entry sitting fifth in points (521 points).

These competitive athletes get knocked down throughout the grueling season, but they refuse to stay down. They get right back up and do what they do best – compete. These types of setbacks build character and eventually make them stronger and better. Carson’s opportunity to get back up and stand tall was Thursday night at the $150,000-to-win/$2,000-to-start finale of the Hefty Seed Huset’s Hustle at Huset’s Speedway in South Dakota. In 1953, Til Huset carved this track into a soybean field to bring power and speed to the area. It sure worked and in July 2020, Tod Quiring purchased the track, then called Badlands Motor Speedway that shut down in 2017, and he and his team infused unwavering passion and hard work into the facility to make it a diamond in dirt track racing. There were 50 race teams back at the track for the big money paying finale of the Hefty Seed Huset’s Hustle on Thursday evening. Buckle up, shut up (but the fans in the stands are certainly allowed to cheer as loud as they want), and enjoy the show because there is world-class sprint car racing on tap at Huset’s Speedway!

The preliminary night points for each driver earned were utilized to build out the starting lineups for each of the six Heat races. The winners of each of those qualifying races advanced onto the $1,000-to-win Toyota King of the Hill races to determine their starting spots in the first three rows of the high dollar feature later in the evening. The second and third place finishers in those heat races would redraw for their starting positions in the A-Main for positions 7 through 12 (second place finishers) and 13 through 18 (third place finishers). With no time trials as part of the event format, when Race//Ready Hot Laps completed it was time to get down to business at the South Dakota bullring. Carson and the JJR #41 team would get their night started from row two in the fourth starting spot alongside Ryan Timms #10. Kaleb Johnson #22K pulled into the pole position as David Gravel #2 moved up alongside him on his outside. Jacob Hughes #8 shared row three with Chris Martin #44 as they made their way around the 1/3-mile oval in front of Gage Pulkrabek #G5 and Matt Juhl #14H in row four Milton Hershey Heat Race #6.

These docile and pokey domestic cats under pre-race conditions were about to transform into unruly cheetahs when the green lights illuminated around the track. The top three finishers in each qualifying race would lock up a spot in the A-Main with a lot of money on the line. Everyone else would still have some work to do if they wanted that opportunity with additional challenges.

When the front row starters hit the chalk stripe laid down across turn four the field the uncaged animals started to sprint ferociously forward to entertain at speed around Huset’s Speedway. Kaleb Johnson led the field into turn one and exited turn two in the top spot followed by Ryan Timms and Carson Macedo.

With one lap in the books, it was Johnson still out front in the lead with a hungry ambush of tigers behind him in Timms and Gravel who passed Macedo back for the last transfer spot exiting turn four. Scored in fourth place, Carson and the rest of the competitors tried to track the leader down like prey for their next meal.

Ryan Timms carried his momentum into the lead on lap 2 in front of Johnson and Gravel. Wheeling and dealing in the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Schoenfeld Headers/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim; Carson continued his valiant efforts from the fourth spot. Carson had his elbows up and his right K1 Race Gear boot buried in the gas pedal trying to keep third place running David Gravel within his sights.

On lap 3, Gravel now began to apply pressure on Johnson for the runner-up position. He made the pass for position as Timms began to check out. Carson continued his chase.

The race would go green to checkered with action from start to finish as Ryan Timms charged to the win with David Gravel crossing the finish line second and Kaleb Johnson locking down the third and final transfer position. Carson finished fourth and would have more work to do to earn his way into the A-Main through the Last Chance Showdown (LCS).

The fourth place finishers in the Heat races filled the first six starting positions in the 12-lap Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown (LCS). This was their last shot. Tyler Courtney #7BC and Dayne Kingshott #3 paced the field from the front row with Jacob Peterson #80P and Kerry Madsen #55 in row two. Logan Schuchart #1s and Carson Macedo #41 were together in row three with Justin Henderson #11, Skylar Gee #16C, Mark Dobmeier #13, and Sam Henderson #83JR in rows four and five, respectively.

It was time for these drivers to give it everything they had to put themselves into the money paying A-Main. There were only six transfer spots remaining. No excuses. No provisional starting positions. Just racing. The green flag was out, and the race was on. Boom the red flag was out immediately for a multi-car incident with three cars flipping after Jacob Peterson and Kerry Madsen got together causing the TK Concrete #55 to catch the outside wall coming down the frontstretch. Kody Werkmeister #31, Sam Henderson #83JR, and Skylar Gee #16C all flipped in turn one with Chris Martin #44 getting caught up in the melee too. Carson just narrowly missed all the carnage.

When they went back under green flag racing, Carson drove into the fourth position with Tyler Courtney out front, Dayne Kingshott in second, and Kerry Madsen in third. Macedo was a man on a mission as he moved underneath Madsen the next time around to take control of the show position. He kept digging with each complete lap as he closed in on Dayne Kingshott. Carson was aggressively working the inside lane tagging the berm several times.

On lap 5, the driver of the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 dug off the bottom of turn four to move into the runner-up position. Carson stayed on the hammer with Tyler Courtney in the NOS Energy Drink #7BC showing the way around Huset’s bullring.

When the checkered flag waved to end the race, it was Tyler Courtney taking the win followed by Carson Macedo in second. Dayne Kingshott shuffled home third with Logan Schuchart crossing the finish line in fourth. Kerry Madsen and Mark Dobmeier secured the last two transfer positions into the A-Main feature event out of the LCS.

The 24 drivers that earned one of the coveted starting spots in the 40-lap Hefty Seed Huset’s Hustle $150,000-to-win feature finale started to stage out on the racing surface after pushing through the gate midway down the back straightaway. Carson was set to begin his high speed adventure at the bullring from the 20th starting spot behind the wheel of the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Factory Kahne Shocks/CASM Safety Products #41 Maxim.

After winning the Toyota King of the Hill Buddy Kofoid #83 would get his race started from the pole position with Daison Pursley #9 sharing the front row with him. Behind them in row two were Sheldon Haudenschild #18 and Ryan Timms #10 with Austin McCarl #88 and Christopher Thram #24T side-by-side in row three. Emerson Axsom #27 was on the inside of row four with Garet Williamson #23 to his outside. Chase Randall #9R followed them with David Gravel #2 who nestled in row five.

The Toyota Racing pace truck pulled into the infield as the yellow lights turned off in anticipation of the green flag waving the next time by the flagstand. They crawled into turn three and blasted off turn four to begin the dash for a lot of cash. The driver of the Roth Motorsports #83 led the opening round followed by Pursley and Timms with Carson scored in the 19th position.

On lap 4, Macedo stayed focused inside the cockpit of his Maxim Racing machine picking up two more spots as he moved around both Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Tyler Courtney into the 17th position of the running order. The NOS Energy Drink #17 of Spencer Bayston was the next car ahead of him and he dispatched him the next time around.

On lap 5, the first caution of the race came out for seventh running Christopher Thram when he got crossed up in turn two and contacted Garet Williamson and Chase Randall collapsing Thram’s front end. Buddy Kofoid was out front followed by Daison Pursley, Ryan Timms, Sheldon Haudenschild, and Austin McCarl.

When the green lights turned back on Kofoid continued to show the way around Huset’s Speedway. Sheldon Haudenschild used the restart to take over third place moving by Ryan Timms. Carson also used the restart as an opportunity to gain a few spots moving into 15th place behind Rees Moran.

On lap 10, the yellow flag was back out for Mark Dobmeier #13 who was off the pace and slowing to a stop in turn two after contact with Spencer Bayston sent him hard into the outside wall in the first set of turns. The green flag was back out. Buddy Kofoid powered up and the race was on again. Sheldon Haudenschild snuck into the runner-up spot with Daison Pursley, Ryann Timms, and Garet Williamson completing the top five.

Carson continued to pick up a position here and there and with 27 laps to go was battling with ten-time WoO champion Donny Schatz for the 13th spot. The talented racers were cleanly racing behind Chris Windom and at the halfway point of the race they both moved by him into positions twelve and thirteen, respectively. Logan Schuchart was charging hard behind them and coming quick in the Drydene/Shark Racing #1s. Schuchart would eventually pass the forty-one and continue his march forward.

At the front of the pack, Sheldon Haudenschild would get close to race leader Buddy Kofoid but never close enough to press him for the top spot. Buddy Kofoid has mastered this place. He raced to the $150k win with Sheldon Haudenschild and Ryan Timms completing the podium spots. Garet Williamson raced home in fourth with Daison Pursley completing the top five. David Gravel, Chase Randall, Emerson Axsom, Austin McCarl, and Cole Macedo rounding out the top ten.

Carson showed his perseverance during the past two days racing to a 15th place finish in the Hefty Seed Huset’s Hustle finale in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41. There were still performance opportunities ahead at Huset’s Speedway on Friday and Saturday night as the driver and team turned their attention in that direction.

The pursuit of big money continues, and actually moves to the next level, over the next two nights right here at Huset’s Speedway with the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals. On the opening night there is 20,000 more dollars awaiting the winner with a whopping $300,000 set aside for the athlete and team that drive to the victory on Saturday night . . . plus an additional $100,000 Bounty Bonus for any non-World of Outlaws regular that wins the race.
