CURTAIL CLOSER IN CHARLOTTE: IN THE FINAL RACE OF THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS 2025 SEASON, CARSON MACEDO WHEELS THE JASON JOHNSON RACING (JJR) ENTRY ACROSS THE FINISH LINE WITH ANOTHER TOP TEN FINISH

CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA (November 8, 2025) – The schedule at the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte is busy with racing and a bunch of other activities around the track and surrounding areas every day. After a long race season schedule of competition that began back in February down in Florida at Volusia Speedway Park at the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, the checkered flag was about to fly over another successful World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series schedule in North Carolina. It was the season finale of the World Finals where the champions for the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds (Champion: Mat Williamson), World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars Series (Champion: David Gravel), and the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Models (Champion: Bobby Pierce) would be crowned at the end of the night. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining, blue skies overhead and the red dirt ready to fly. There were 46 sprint car drivers eager to do their thing one last time just outside the Queen City of Charlotte.

There would be no time trials for the last night of racing as the lineups for each of the qualifying races based on each driver’s accumulated event points from Thursday and Friday night. When all the numbers were tabulated, Carson had amassed 234 points which was 16th overall. His point totals were impacted because even though he gets series points for his great run on Friday night after using a provisional starting spot where he raced forward from his 25th starting position to finish in 8th place, he does not earn any additional event points for his A-Main effort. Sitting at the top of the points were: David Gravel (296 points); Rico Abreu (296 points); Buddy Kofoid (278 points); Spencer Bayston (268 points); and Chase Randall (260 points).

There were four 8-lap Heat races lined up and ready to go arranged by each driver’s accumulated point total with the driver of the forty-one slated to start his qualifying run from the fourth starting spot driving the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Factory Kahne Shocks/Walker Performance Filtration #41 Maxim in The Greatest Store on Dirt Heat Race #4. Carson would settle into his outside starting position sharing row two with Hunter Schuerenberg #55.

Those two drivers were a part of a very impressive field of competitors that featured Spencer Bayston #17JR and Corey Day #14 on the front row as Daison Pursley #9 and Danny Sams III #24D tucked into row three. Zach Hampton #6 and Ty Gibbs #84 followed close behind in row four with Conner Morrell #28M and Greg Wilson #X in row five. Gage Pulkrabek #G5 was the lone started in row sixth of this important race.

The safety lights around the track dimmed in anticipation of the waving green flag off turn four the next time by. There were only five coveted transfer spots available in each of the four qualifying races, so there was no time to lollygag when the green lights turned on. The stout field of competitors were nose-to-tail as they paced slowly down the backstretch. When the arrived at the chalk stripe laid down across turn four it was “go time” at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Spencer Bayston used his front row starting spot to hammer the gas first as he raced the NOS Energy Drink #17BC to the front of the pack heading down the front straightaway. He exited turn two with the lead followed by Day, Schuerenberg, and Macedo in all-out chase mode.

There were duals for better positions throughout the pack early with Carson settling in pacing the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 from the fourth position. His Hoosier Racing Tires were gripping the surface as he was maneuvering the banking and digging down the straightaways looking for more speed.

After jumping into the early lead, Spencer Bayston never looked back as he led wire-to-wire to take the win by just under a half second ahead of second place finishing Corey Day. As the winner and runner-up in the race, those two drivers advanced onto the Toyota Dash where they would get a chance to race for their starting position in one of the first four runs in the feature finale. Crossing the finish line in third was Hunter Schuerenberg with Carson coming home fourth and Danny Sams III completing the top five to earn the final three transfer positions out of the fourth Heat race.

After the order of the race agenda change due to an impending weather forecast, the eight-minute horn sounded throughout the sprint car pit area to get their attention as they were up next on the track. David Gravel already earned his second consecutive World of Outlaws championship after a tremendous season highlight by consistency, speed, and winning, so the only thing remaining was who would pocket the final winner’s check of the season.

The field of cars started to make their way around the pit lane escorted by a crew member on a four-wheeler as they rolled onto the track in turn three. The drivers sat in their speed rockets patiently as the awaited some assistance to fire up their engines from one of the push trucks. The twenty-four car field along with four additional drivers who elected to use provisional starting spots were locked and loaded as they prepared to battle in 25-lap feature with $25,000 on the line for the winner during the final night of the World Finals and season.

David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 and Parker Price-Miller in the Indy race Parts #71 earned the right to start from the front row with Corey Day in the Jason Meyers Racing #14 and Buddy Kofoid in the Roth Motorsports #83 behind in row two ready to push the action early. Chase Randall #9 and Spencer Bayston #17JR shared row three with Rico Abreu #24 and Ashton Torgerson #1a in row four ready to get up to speed.

Carson buckled securely into his Fibreworks Composites carbon fiber seat with a Sharp Advantage custom fitted seat insert ready to stand on the throttle one last time this season from his 16th starting spot piloting the Albaugh – Your Alternative/T-Fab Custom Metal Fabrication/Saldana Racing Products #41 Maxim. He paced alongside Sheldon Haudenschild #17 in row eight. When the yellow safety lights turned off around the track, he flipped the shield down on his Shifty Illusions custom painted Bell Helmet ready to go to war at The Dirt Track at Charlotte when they came off turn four to take the green flag.

Wheel-to-wheel the front row starters crossed the chalk stripe, and the final race of the season was on in North Carolina. The green flag racing conditions did not last very long as the red flag flew before a lap could be completed when there was some contact near the back of the pack sending Justin Peck #26 flipping and Giovanni Scelzi spinning in the NOS Energy Drink #7BC.

The field of talented stars would try to get the race started again but the red flag was back out quickly for Donny Schatz who flipped in turn four collecting Sheldon Haudenschild and Kerry Madsen.

The green flag was finally back out with David Gravel driving the Billion Automotive #2 to the front with Parker Price-Miller tucking in behind early with Buddy Kofoid on his tail tank. Gravel led the officially recorded opening circuit with Carson using the early casualties and restarts to move the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 into the 9th position with 24 laps remaining.

On lap 5, the yellow caution flag came out for 2025 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Garet Williamson who slowed on the track with some front wing damage. David Gravel slowly pace ahead of Parker Price-Miller, Buddy Kofoid, Corey Day, and Spencer Bayston ready to show the way with 20 more laps to go. But before they could go racing, they were called back to the pit area de to lightning in the area.

After a 30 minute break the horns sounded, and the cars were back out on the track. The green flag waved with David Gravel leading as Buddy Kofoid raced by Parker Price-Miller into the runner-up position. Carson was scored in 9th place.

After getting another two laps completed, the race was slowed again under yellow flag conditions for Skylar Gee who came to a stop on the backstretch. Up front it was still Gravel leading Kofoid when they went back under green flag conditions with Day and Abreu just behind. Carson was battling with Chase Randall, Hunter Schuerenberg, and Logan Schuchart for track position just inside the top ten.

David Gravel was setting a torrid pace out front and navigating through lap cars at speed when he encountered issues as he got up over the cushion entering turn one and back hard into the outside wall ending his great run, night of racing, and remarkable championship season.

Buddy Kofoid was the recipient with a four-leaf clover in his pocket as he inherited the lead followed by Rico Abreu, Corey Day, Brent Marks, and Spencer Bayston with Carson restarting in the JJR #41 from the eighth spot. The green flag unfurled again, and the engines roared back up to speed. Buddy Kofoid blasted off in the Mobil 1/TRD #83 with everyone else following.

Carson got shuffled back to tenth on the restart as Logan Schuchart and Sheldon Haudenschild both raced by him as they got back to racing. He continued to maneuver around the 4/10-mile oval before the yellow lights came back out on lap 16 for Conner Morrell #28M who blew and engine and coasted to a stop with 9 laps to go.

Buddy Kofoid stomped on the accelerator again and led the remaining distance to collect his twelfth WoO victory of the season as he raced across the finish line 1.254 seconds ahead of Rico Abreu with Brent Marks coming home third and Spencer Bayston and Corey Day rounding out the top five. Carson picked up seven positions throughout the race to finish the season with a ninth place run in the finale at the World Finals.

With Carson’s top ten finish to end the season, the Lemoore, California native earned a third place finish in the season long point standings behind two-time champion David Gravel and runner-up Michael “Buddy” Kofoid. Throughout the season, Carson and the JJR #41 team collected 12 checkered flags (a 16% win success rate – 11 World of Outlaws victories and 1 High Limit Series win at Lernerville in July). In addition to the victories, Carson Macedo, and the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) #41 team had 26 podium finishes together (a 34.66% Podium Success Rate), 39 Top 5s (a 52% Top 5 Success Rate), and 58 Top 10s (a 77.33% Top 10 Success Rate). Another good run, and season, for Carson and the forty-one team! They will regroup and reload with their eyes focused on a higher target in 2026 when they return to the track at Volusia Speedway Park in February 2025.
