BATTLE CONTINUES AROUND THE PAPERCLIP: CARSON MACEDO ADVANCES TWO POSITIONS AS HE WHEELS THE WINTERS PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS #41 TO AN EIGHTH PLACE FINISH ON THE OPENING NIGHT OF THE MORGAN CUP AT WILLIAMS GROVE
MECHANICSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA (May 8, 2026) – After the battle subsided following the checkered flag at Lincoln Speedway on Tuesday night, where Carson almost stole the win at the line as he raced the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 off turn four to a runner-up finish in the Gettysburg Clash. After the divided race teams came back together on Thursday evening at the 2026 Hershey Sprint Car Experience at Hersheypark Stadium to connect and serve the community they re-engaged on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway for the first of two consecutive nights of racing at the historic, paper clipped shaped half mile oval. The World of Outlaws invaders were intermingled and parked alongside the PA Posse teams. The configuration of this racetrack is unique and has challenged many exceptionally talented drivers throughout their careers. It takes a lot of laps around this place to gain the valuable experience necessary to be successful at “The Grove” on a consistent basis. The locals, affectionately referred to as the PA Posse, race here weekly on Friday nights and seemingly would have a competitive edge based on frequent exposure and experience on the track. But when the World of Outlaws all come to town they adapt quickly and bring their notebooks from past visits. On Friday night there was a blend of 43 terrific race teams, made up of both WoO and PA Posse drivers, parked on the frontstretch and backstretch pit areas all focused on racing at the front of the pack when the last checkered flag of the night was displayed. It was race day World of Outlaws style at Williams Grove Speedway!

With more than 38 cars registered to race on this night, the field of competitors split into two groups for Race//Ready Hot Laps and Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. There would be two cars out on the track at the same time for time trials in both Flight A and Flight B to minimize the impact on time as the surface changes. Carson Macedo was the 8th driver out on the half mile oval for his two qualifying laps in Flight B. Joining him out on the track was Danny Dietrich who proudly represents the PA Posse. The goal was the same for both – go fast and turn a lap as quick as possible. It seems easy . . . but it certainly is not. The Kistler Engines power came to life under the hood of the Boltz Family/KSE Racing Products/Xtreme Auto Body & Paint #41 Maxim as the Lemoore, California born sprint car chauffeur went to work to build up his speed as he dragged raced down the back straightaway. Carson raced under the green flag and maneuvered through the sweeping first set of turns and exited turn two with a bridge and the third turn within his sights. He entered the tight set of final turns and raced under the waving white flag ending his first lap in 16.808 seconds. The driver of the forty-one executed his speed strategy one last time throughout lap two. This time when Carson raced by the flagstand the checkered flag was out. Lap two was recorded in 16.719 seconds. The best of his two attempts ended fifth overall in Flight B. The fastest driver in Flight B was David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 who circled the technical oval in 16.379 seconds. That lap earned him the Simpson Quick Time Award. The fastest driver from Flight A was Kasey Kahne in the Macri Motorsports #39M.
With individual qualifying completed it was time for the first of four 8-lap Heat Races where each driver would race for one of the five transfer positions up for grabs. Carson was set to start from the third position in WIX Filters Heat Race #3 aboard the Winters Performance Products/Pro Powder Coating (PPC)/ISC Racers Tape #41. He pulled to the inside of Chad Trout #1X in row two as they paced directly behind David Gravel #2 and Troy Wagaman Jr. on the front row. Logan Schuchart #1s and Dylan Norris #17N were side-by-side in row three with Cameron Smith #75 and Kasey Jedrzejek #6 ready to go in row four. Buddy Schweibinz #1W and J.J. Loss #39 rolling in row five with Skylar Gee #16C alone in row six.
Race officials turned the safety lights off around the track as the flagman prepared to unleash the green flag when the front row starters reached turn four. The fans were at the edge of their seats when polesitter David Gravel crossed the chalk stripe and stomped on the gas pedal. He led the field into turn one with Troy Wagaman Jr. and Carson Macedo entering turn one trying to stay within striking distance of his tail tank.
The four mile chase was on, but David Gravel was sailing in clean air. Over the course of the remaining laps in the race, Carson tried his best to gain the runner-up spot but Troy Wagaman Jr. to no avail. David Gravel took the win by 2.562 seconds ahead of Wagaman Jr. with Carson cruising home third. Logan Schuchart raced home fourth with Chad Trout securing the fifth and final transfer spot.

The crew members of the 27 race teams that earned starting positions in the field for the opening night’s Morgan Cup feature were finishing their work as the drivers wrapped up attaching their tearoffs onto the shields of their helmets. When these two groups of local talent and traveling tour racers come together it becomes just as much about pride as it is anything else. There was $12,000 awaiting the winner but just as importantly each group wanted to hold their flag up in victory lane to represent their side.
The engines began to fire for the 25 lap feature. Chase Dietz #23D and Kasey Kahne #39M, both behind the wheel of two Pennsylvania based cars, were on the front row after finishing first and second in the Toyota Dash. Pacing right behind them were David Gravel #2 and Sheldon Haudenschild #18 in row two with Troy Wagaman Jr. #27W and Bill Balog #17B in row three. Daryn Pittman #69k and Kody Hartlaub #95 were alongside each other in row four. Starting from the tenth position on the grid was Carson Macedo in the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Smiley’s Racing Products/CS Productions #41 Maxim. His Hoosier Racing Tires were rolling in row five beside T.J. Stutts #11. They were primed and ready to go.
When the first two drivers in the crowded field of cars arrived at the chalk stripe laid down across turn four the race was on between the guiderails at Williams Grove! Kasey Kahne led early with Dietz and Gravel hustling behind him. Carson moved up to eighth in the running order looking ahead at Bill Balog. The track was racy while passing was limited throughout the first half of the race.
There were two Central Valley Californians, Carson Macedo in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 and Buddy Kofoid in the Roth Motorsports #83, battling for the eighth position on the track. Kofoid would claim the better spot on lap 13 with Carson digging from behind in ninth.
The action was heating up between Kofoid, Balog, and Macedo late in the race with Carson moving around Balog to reclaim one spot on the scoreboard. The leader was embroiled in a tussle too with just three laps to go. Kasey Kahne was maneuvering through traffic with Sheldon Haudenschild right on his rear nerf bar. Kahne successfully fended him off to collect his first World of Outlaws career victory. Sheldon Haudenschild raced home second with David Gravel completing the podium and Chase Dietz and Troy Wagaman Jr. completing the top five.
Carson settled in and finished in eighth place finish on the first night of the HVAC Distributors Morgan Cup. Another good run for Macedo and the forty-one!
Carson Macedo and the World of Outlaws (WoO) competitors will be back at the famous oval in Central Pennsylvania again on Saturday night for the finale of the Morgan Cup. Make your plans to be at the track to enjoy all the action or tune into DIRTVision!
