BACK IN THE STATES: CARSON MACEDO WAS WHEELIN’ AND DEALIN’ BEFORE MECHANICAL WOES RESULT IN A DISAPPOINTING 18TH PLACE FINISH AT ATTICA RACEWAY PARK TO START MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IN OHIO
ATTICA, OHIO (May 24, 2025) – After the PartsSource World of Outlaws Invasion rained out at Cornwall Motor Speedway last Sunday night, Carson Macedo and the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) #41 team along with their nomadic World of Outlaws (WoO) competitors had the week to work their way back into the United States for Friday’s race at Attica Raceway Park to compete in the Attica Sprint Car Showdown. Unfortunately, Mother Nature stepped in again with Sharon Speedway forced to cancel their show on Saturday due to wet grounds, so the Friday race at Attica was delayed until Saturday to take advantage of another day to let that facility dry out.
The people in The Buckeye State really enjoy grassroots dirt track racing and their passion for the sport, the athletes, and the crew members is evident and appreciated. This race would kick off racing this week in Ohio for the touring teams racing in front of these amazing fans that welcomed the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series to their state. With the pit area bustling with activity as the teams were busy working to get their driver’s speed machines ready, the fans were mingling around taking in the pre-race festivities and buying their favorite driver’s merchandise. There were 42 race teams preparing for action – World of Outlaws style – at the one-third mile oval known as Attica Raceway Park!

The final time trial order for Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying posted for each of the two qualifying groups. Slated to be the twelfth driver to hit the track in Flight #2 driving the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Smiley’s Racing Products/RaceDiecast.com #41, Carson zipped up his K1 Race Gear racing suit. He climbed into the cockpit of his Maxim Racing rocket prepared for his speed assault. Robby used the four-wheeler to escort him into the staging lane off turn four where Carson would wait his turn to compete against the clock. He would be joined out on the track with Kasey Jedrzejek #11N in two car qualifying. When Chris Windom #7s and Kody Brewer #5 completed their laps, the Kistler Racing Engines power in the forty-one woke up and was ready to throw some dirt. Carson jumped on the gas and raced by the flagstand now up to speed and racing under green flag conditions. On his first attempt, the California driver circled the one-third mile dirt track in 13.341 seconds. Carson stayed on the loud pedal the next time around to lock in a slightly better time on lap two at 13.271 seconds. The better of his two attempts positioned him eighth quick overall in the qualifying results for Flight #2. Michael Kofoid driving the Roth Motorsports #83 sat at the top of the speed charts in Flight #2 with a time of 12.937 seconds. Earning the Simpson Quick Time Award with the quickest lap of the night out of Flight #1 was none other than ten-time World of Outlaws Champion, Donny Schatz, behind the wheel of the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) #15 turning in a lap of 12.909 seconds.
World of Outlaws officials were keeping the show moving along as the promptly posted the starting lineups for each of the four 10-lap Heat races. When scanning the completed lineups, the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 of Carson Macedo would line up in the fourth starting spot in The Greatest Show on Dirt Heat Race #4 with Hunter Schuerenberg #55 from Sikeston, Missouri sharing row two with him. Sheldon Haudenschild #17 and David Gravel #2 were together in row. Pacing behind Schuerenberg and Macedo in row three were T.J. Michael #19 and Creed Kemenah #15K with Tim Shaffer #17GP, Kody Brewer #5, Justin Clark #97, and Larry Kingseed Jr. tucking in behind in the last two rows.
The field of ten cars were set and ready to get rolling at speed. The signaler gave them the signal that the next time out of turn four he would feverishly be waving the green flag so they should get their right feet ready to mash the gas. When the driver of the NOS Energy Drink #17 peeked off turn four it was all-out chaos that appeared intentional and under control as he led the first lap with Gravel and Schuerenberg right behind with Carson running fourth.
Sheldon Haudenschild was in control out front with Carson inching closer to Schuerenberg in the race for third. Schuerenberg hit a bump entering turn three briefly disrupting his momentum allowing the driver of the Albaugh #41 to close in exiting turn four. Carson got close but was unable to make the pass for position.
The remaining laps would go uncontested with Haudenschild racing to the win over Gravel with Schuerenberg, Macedo, and T.J. Michael locking down the remaining transfer positions out of the heat race into the feature. The top two finishers secured their spots in the Toyota Dash.

The drivers and teams worked hard to put on an entertaining show up until this point of the night at Attica Raceway Park as the horn sounded prior to the 35-lap, $12,000-to-win Attica Sprint Car Showdown feature event. The first eight starting spots in the feature lineup for the money paying event slotted based off the Dash finishing order. That put Skylar Gee #99 and Sheldon Haudenschild #17 on the front row to lead the field to the green flag. The duo at the front of the pack were followed by Donny Schatz #15, Logan Schuchart #1s, Conner Morrell #28M, Giovanni Scelzi #18, David Gravel #2, and Chris Windom #7s in the next three rows.
Carson was pacing from back in the sixteenth starting position aboard the Tarlton and Son/Sander Engineering/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads #41 Maxim. When the field aligned side-by-side Ohio native Trey Jacobs #3J rolled in beside the Californian in row eight ready to race.
The flagger showed the field the one-to-go signal as Carson peered through the shield of his Shifty Illusions custom painted Bell Helmet. The anticipation was mounting as the yellow lights dimmed around the track. The green flag was out with crowd favorite Sheldon Haudenschild from Wooster, Ohio charging into the lead as he escorted the field into the first set of turns and around the exciting oval.
Carson had a plan and with three laps in the books he was executing it as he was up three positions aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 racing in 13th place. The next time around he picked up two more spots and was now only one position outside of the top ten in 11th place.
The yellow flag came out for Kasey Jedrzejek #11N who spun. The running order at the front was Haudenschild, Schuchart, Gee, Schatz, and Morrell with Carson just outside the top ten behind Hunter Schuerenberg. The green flag was back out with Logan Schuchart taking over the lead as he used the outside lane to drive into the lead.
Carson took over tenth and continued to see his race strategy unfolding in a favorable way. The next time around he gained another position on the scoreboard moving by Donny Schatz. The JJR team made the right adjustments and Macedo had a balanced race car.
On lap 17, the yellow flag was back out for Jedrzejek’s #11N as he spun unassisted ending his night. The race was halfway in with the remaining half to go. Carson was doing an admirable job racing forward using patience to take advantage of opportunities out on the track.
The flagman unleashed the green flag again with Sheldon Haudenschild racing back into the to spot ahead of Schuchart. Carson had his eyes focused forward as he was trying hard to track down Schuerenberg, Windom, and Scelzi who were dueling in front of him.
The race was again paused on lap 20 when Darin Naida #7N and Zach Hampton #6 tangled in the first set of turns to bring out the yellow flag. Carson would get restarted from the ninth running position with 15 laps to go. When the green lights came back on Sheldon Haudenschild brought them back up to speed with Logan Schuchart right behind. They were only able to get one lap in the books before the yellow flag was back out for Tim Shaffer #17GP who sat off turn four.
They would try it again with Haudenschild still out front, but Carson maneuvered by Cole Macedo #2c into eighth place. He would then move into seventh place when he raced by Chris Windom on lap 23. The pre-race plan was still aligned and in action for Macedo and the forty-one team.
The yellow lights turned back on with twenty-four laps in for Zeth Sabo #29 from Tiffin, Ohio. Carson was running seventh and still had some work to do. When the competitors went back to work it was short lived as the red flag abruptly stopped the action when Donny Schatz spun collecting Darin Naida #7N who flipped. He was ok.
He is where Carson’s and the JJR #41 team’s plan started to unravel. Ender the open red his left rear tire was losing air fast. The team checked for a hole, but the bleeder was broke. They tried to fix it to no avail, so they headed to the Federated Car Care Work Area and quickly replaced the left rear before tagging the rear of the field with ten laps to go. Disappointing for sure, but part of the racing deal.
After pacing slowly to get the lineup right, the green flag was unveiled to let the field rip again. Carson gained two spots and was running in 16th place before picking up another spot the next circuit. Logan Schuchart was able to race into the lead ahead of Haudenschild.
With six laps to go, Cole Macedo was off the pace in the TwoC Racing entry with a flat left rear tire collecting Carson as the older brother spun off turn four. Carson tagged the rear again with only six laps to go. He raced hard to collect an 18th place finish after another tough night to earn the Smith Titanium Brake Systems Brake of the Race. Logan Schuchart raced to the win ahead of Sheldon Haudenschild with Skylar Gee rounding out the podium.
