AFTER SETTING QUICK TIME ABOARD THE DISSOLVALLOY DOWNHOLE REVOLUTION #41, JOHNSON CARRIES HIS SPEED THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT TO EARN A SECOND PLACE FINISH AT FULTON SPEEDWAY

FULTON, NEW YORK (October 7, 2017) – As Mother Nature stopped dropping precipitation in New York over the morning hours, the sun shined through over Fulton Speedway as the track welcomed the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series stars to the Empire State as part of Super Dirt Week. Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing #41 team trucked north on I-81 from their base camp at Jonestown KOA to race at the fast 3/8 mile oval situated just off the banks of the Oswego River. There were 29 team lined up in the pit area located off the backstretch ready to make tracks in New York.

After a good pill draw, Jason rolled out third for his two time trial laps in the Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim. He pedaled down as his Kistler Engines power came to life sending the horsepower it created to his rear tires to get him rolling. He came up to speed and took the green. The quicker of his two laps came in at 13.180 seconds, which moved his to the top of the speed charts in the early going. He crossed the scales and headed back to the hauler to patiently wait for the remaining cars to lay down their best laps. His patience paid off as when the engine of the last qualifier quieted, the #41 was still atop the speed board to earn his 15th quick time of the season.

He had the Fischer Body Shop/K&N Filters #41 Maxim Racing entry perched on the inside of the front row in the first and fastest heat race with Brad Sweet to his outside as Jason Sides and Daryn Pittman made up row two. Ten cars. Eight laps. It was go time. When the green lights came on Jason drove hard into turn one and seized the lead under an idyllic sunset. He was fast and was using that speed along with his talent to run clean lines and become the rabbit everyone else was chasing. They wouldn’t catch him as he took the win over Pittman, Sweet, and Sides as Kraig Kinser and Sheldon Haudenschild locked down the remaining two transfer positions.

Earning the pole in the pre-dash starting order, the Rocky Mount, Missouri resident awaited the inversion draw to see where he would start. When the ‘4’ pill was pulled, it put him on the outside of row two in the fourth starting spot for the 6-lap Craftsman Club Dash. Daryn Pittman and Jac Haudenschild would bring the field to the green with Pittman taking the lead in the Great Clips #9. Jason had a fast hotrod though and moved into the runner-up position and was stalking down the leader. He ran out of laps as Pittman earned the victory with Jason coming home second aboard the Jonestown KOA/ISC Racers Tape Maxim ahead of Haudenschild, Gravel, Shane Stewart and Paige Polyak.

The last thing remaining on the evening’s racing itinerary was the 25-lap money paying feature event where Jason would show off all of his sponsors logos to the fans as he held the outside position of the slow four-wide salute to the fans. It was another packed house at Fulton Speedway as they were there to see some of the best in the business. The Ragin’ Cajun would bring the field to the green with pole sitter Daryn Pittman. It was Pittman who took the early lead as Gravel moved into the second spot after pounding the cushion with the Ragin’ Cajun running in the show position. It stayed that way before Pittman spun to avoid Clyde Knipp who was exiting the track’s surface. Gravel inherited the lead with Jason now in the runner-up position and last year’s winner Donny Schatz in third. Gravel and Johnson were side-by-side when they past the flag stand to take the green on the restart. The CJB #5 was the target as Johnson was staying close. A few late race cautions gave Johnson two more shots at taking the top spot to no avail as Gravel went on to take the win as Jason came home second ahead of Schatz as Greg Wilson and Jac Haudenschild rounded out the top five.

After his second-place finish, a pleased Johnson stated, “We gave it our best shot tonight.” Continuing, “I did my best to race clean and hard and finishing between Gravel and Schatz is an accomplishment in itself.” A great run for the forty-one in New York at Fulton Speedway!
