AFTER A PROMISING WEEKEND AT THE 39TH ANNUAL AGCO JACKSON NATIONALS, MECHANICAL WOES SILENCE THE FORTY-ONE NEAR THE MIDWAY POINT OF THE FINALE RESULTING IN A 22ND PLACE FINISH
JACKSON, MINNESOTA (June 3, 2017) – It was the last of three nights of racing at the 39 Annual AGCO Jackson Nationals for Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing #41 team. Jason had accumulated the seventh highest point total with 997 points after the first two nights of racing at the big and fast half-mile. While the top four drivers with the highest combined point totals were locked into Saturday night’s Craftsman Club Dash, all the other drivers would be assigned to a heat race based on their point totals.
Jason would be the pole sitter in the third heat race with Danny Lasoski to his outside and Cap Henry and Brian Brown right behind in row two. The initial green flag was waved off as the yellow caution lights were illuminated for a false start for the forty-one. Jason was penalized two starting spots in the Waco Metal/BMRS #41 Maxim. When they went back to green flag racing, Lasoski jumped into the lead with Cap Henry in second momentarily before losing it to the Ragin’ Cajun. Jason would chase Lasoski over the remainder of the 8 laps to come home second ahead of the final two transfer positions that were owned by Henry and Brown.
In this race format, Jason and the JJR Marshall Racing team’s hard work and results all week earned them one of the final two spots in the Craftsman Club Dash. The 2011 Jackson Nationals champion, when it was a 360 sanctioned event, would roll off eighth in the event beside Shane Stewart. Kerry Madsen and Brad Sweet were in row one with Donny Schatz and Jason Sides in row two. David Gravel and Joey Saldana were in row three with the final row being comprised of Ian Madsen and Danny Lasoski. Kerry Madsen would lead the field wire-to-wire as there was some great racing happening in the second half of the field. Jason was in that mix aboard the Priority Aviation Services, LLC/KSE Racing Products Maxim. Jason would finish seventh as Kerry Madsen took the win over Sweet, Schatz, Sides, Saldana and Stewart as Gravel, Ian Madsen and Lasoski rounded out the finishing order.
The 30-lap feature was the only thing left on the agenda for the three day, 2017 edition of the AGCO Jackson Nationals. Jason had a fast Maxim Racing machine all weekend and was hoping to finish the weekend off with a strong finish. From top to bottom the field was field with top sprint car talent. It was race time at the 39th Annual AGCO Jackson Nationals! Kerry Madsen would seize the lead early on as Jason held down the eighth position. He was working hard inside the cockpit and when a mid-race yellow was displayed he rolled to a stop. He was quickly pushed to the work area but the #41 team had no luck getting it to fire ending his night and weekend in disappointing fashion with a 22nd place finish. Brad Sweet would get by Kerry Madsen to take the win as David Gravel, Shane Stewart and Donny Schatz completed the top five.
