JOHNSON WAS HAULIN’ IN THE MESILLA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION (MVT) #41 AT EL PASO SPEEDWAY PARK AS HE SECURES A FIFTH PLACE FINISH AT THE CASA NISSAN EDGE OF TEXAS DIRT TRACK NATIONALS

EL PASO, TEXAS (November 7, 2014) – After a break in the late season ASCS National Tour schedule Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team headed to the desert to start the final four races of the season at El Paso Speedway Park in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Serratelli Hat Company #41 Maxim. There were 33 cars present in the pit area for The Casa Nissan Edge of Texas Dirt Track Nationals.

The JJR team and driver started the third heat from the fifth starting spot. Eight laps. When the green flag waved, the outside row was on the move on the top side of the track relegating the Eunice, Louisiana native back to the sixth spot. The track proved very difficult to pass on and Jason crossed the line just outside the top five moving him to the B-Main.

He was determined to collect one of the final six qualifying spots up for grabs in the event from his seventh starting spot. When the green waved, he nestled into his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System and went to work inside the cockpit of his Maxim. The laps were clicking by quickly and he moved into the sixth spot in the running order. When polesitter Blake Hahn took the win ahead of Johnny Herrera, Joshua Hodges, Harli White and Rick Ziehl, Jason crossed the stripe in the sixth qualifying position.

After pulling into his pit stall, he climbed out and started to debrief with the JJR crew so they could get their machine better for the feature event as they would be starting deep in the field from the twenty second starting position. A lot of work to do, and only 30 laps to do it. This challenge was one that was built for the Cajun Sensation to show his talents. After the three-wide salute to the fans, front row starters Nick Parker and Royal Jones paced the field and brought them up so speed as the green lights illuminated around El Paso Speedway Park’s 3/8-mile oval. The green flag means it’s “go fast time” and the Cajun chauffeur interpreted the message clearly. He was on the gas in the MVT/Waco Metal speed machine and on the move quickly as he did not have any time to wait around. Lap after lap he was passing cars and making his way forward. First he entered the top twenty, then the top fifteen. He was catching the attention of the fans who came out to enjoy the races from West Texas. Not one to ever give up, he kept his right foot firmly planted on the accelerator and entered the top ten in the Fischer Body Shop/Pro Powder Coating (PPC) Maxim. Boy this was fun to watch as the 4-time champion was a pounding the pedal like a hungry racer. With the laps clicking down he moved into the top five and brought home a hard earned fifth place finish as he followed race winner Logan Forler, Aaron Reutzel, Brad Loyet and Royal Jones across the finish line. The hard charging effort garnered him the KSE Hard Charger honors for the night as he passed 17 cars on his way to his top five finish at El Paso Speedway Park. A great run for the forty one!
