FLINGIN’ DIRT IN CAROLINA: THE RED CLAY WAS FLYING AGAIN ON NIGHT TWO AT THE DAVE SMITH MOTORS WORLD FINALS WITH THE DRIVER OF THE ALBAUGH – YOUR ALTERNATIVE #41 ROLLING ACROSS THE FINISH LINE IN 6TH PLACE

CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA (November 6, 2026) – On Thursday night at the Dirt Track at Charlotte, the wheel-to-wheel action got started with Carson Macedo driving the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 home in 12th place with Rico Abreu in the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) #14 being the first driver to the finish line. The haulers remain in the pit area overnight at this event, so the crew members returned the next day to wash and maintenance their speed equipment for the second night of high speed action at the Dave Smith Motors World Finals. The warmth of the sun shining overhead made it a comfortable day in this racing town as the competitors prepared to deliver another night of entertainment. As the hour hand on the clock continued to move closer to the start time, the fans supported their favorite driver by buying shirts and other goodies outside the front straightaway at their merchandise trailers. It was time to get back to business dirt track style in Concord, North Carolina with 43 determined sprint car teams parked in the pit area outside turns one and two ready to roll.

Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying for Friday night’s portion of the World Finals for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars took place on Wednesday night. In that session, Carson recorded the fifth quickest time overall in Flight B with a lap of 12.882 seconds during his second lap piloting the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/High Performance Lubricants/Durst Inc. #41 Maxim. The other lap when he circled The Dirt Track at Charlotte came in at 12.989 seconds. The fastest driver in Flight B was Sheldon Haudenschild in the NOS Energy Drink #18 with a lap of 12.678 seconds with Rico Abreu in the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) #14 earning the Simpson Quick Time Award after making quick work around the 4/10-mile oval in just 12.542 seconds in Flight A.

The drivers would get a little time out on the track after the track crew prepped the surface, with the modified and late model drivers running it in so it was ready for Race//Ready Hot Laps. The cars in the first of four Heat races began to fire. The qualifying races would be eight laps in distance with the top two finishers heading to the Toyota Dash. That put pressure on the crew chiefs and crew members to apply their expertise and past knowledge at this place to get the setup close for their drivers to create traction and speed to race forward. Carson time trial result placed the Scott Boyd Family/Tarlton and Son/Team Jack Foundation #41 on the inside of row two in WIX Filters Heat Race #3. He pulled in beside Conner Morrell in the Tub O’ Towels #28M as they paced behind Sheldon Haudenschild #18 and Tanner Holmes #13 on the front row. Chris Windom #7s and Anthony Macri #39M followed in row three with Logan Schuchart #1s and Chase Dietz #5 tucked into row four. The drivers in row five were Brandon Spithaler #22 and Jacob Begenwald #3J (scratched) with Brogan Carter #88c alone in row six.

With only five transfer spots available, the drivers would have to make hay from the very start of the race as the cars here historically have spread out quickly as the laps go by on the fast and racy surface. The field of cars was nose-to-tail slowly moving down the back straightaway as the yellow lights turned off.

When the polesitter reached turn four it was ‘gas and go’ time in the third qualifying race. Sheldon Haudenschild vaulted into the early race lead ahead of Tanner Holmes, but Logan Schuchart was off the pace out of turn two to bring out the cautio flag.

It would be a complete restart with the driver of the NOS Energy Drink #18 dropping his right foot again to gain the top spot with Holmes right behind as Carson wheeled the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 from the show position just ahead of Anthony Macri and Chris Windom.

The captivating initial action settled down quickly as the drivers moved around the red dirt clay. The remainder of the race would go uninterrupted with Sheldon Haudenschild taking the win over Tanner Holmes with Carson Macedo racing home third. Anthony Macri and Chris Windom earned the final two transfer spots to the feature.

Joining the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars at the World Finals were the entertaining Super DIRTcar Series Modifieds and the mighty World of Outlaws Late Models. The 25-lap Dave Smith Motors World Finals sprint car feature would be second, right after the modified feature finished. After winning the Toyota Dash, Sheldon Haudenschild #18 earned the pole position sharing the front row with Giovanni Scelzi #77 followed by Tanner Holmes #13 and Cameron Smith #1a in the second row. Together in the third row were Bill Balog #17B and Parker Price-Miller #71 with Buddy Schweibinz #69K  and Matt Farnham #7NY side-by-side in row four. Rolling in row five was Tyler Courtney #7BC and Carson Macedo #41 with David Gravel #2 and Emerson Axsom #27 ready to push the accelerator from row six.

Carson’s race for the money would begin from the tenth starting spot aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative/CS Productions/Factory Kahne Shocks #41 Maxim. He shared row five with Tyler Courtney in the NOS Energy Drink #7BC as they both anxiously waited for the green flag to drop. The Lemoore, California born driver was gripping his JOES Racing Products Matador steering wheel with his K1 Race Gear gloves ready to put them to work during his race forward.

The next time by the green flag waved with Giovanni Scelzi driving around Sheldon Haudenschild to lead the opening circuit with Cameron Smith, Tanner Holmes, and Bill Balog all in hot pursuit. Carson made the most of his first lap as he gained four spots and was running in the sixth position just in front of Buddy Schweibinz with 24 more laps to go.

On lap 7, the caution flag flew for Logan Rumsey #71R who was off the pace while fifth running Bill Balog headed to the work area for a tire change as he had a rear tire going flat. Giovanni Scelzi brought them back up to speed with Sheldon Haudenschild right behind him as the green flag fluttered in the wind.

Carson got shuffled back to sixth as Schweibinz used the outside lane on the restart to carry his momentum around the top side of the track to make speed. The driver of the forty-one continued to work hard and reclaimed the last spot in the top five from Schweibinz on lap 14 as he raced his way back into the fifth position.

Giovanni Scelzi stayed out front as Tanner Holmes passed Sheldon Haudenschild for the runner-up position in the latter stages of the race. Holmes was closing in on the race leader when the white flag flew but ran out of time. Scelzi took the win with Holmes and Haudenschild rounding out the podium. Cameron Smith crossed the finish line in fourth place with Buddy Schweibinz claiming fifth after he moved by Carson for the position with five laps to go. Carson finished sixth with Buddy Kofoid, Tyler Courtney, David Gravel, and Parker Price-Miller rounding out the top ten on the second night of racing at the World Finals.

When the final checkered flag flew on Friday night, there was only one more race remaining on the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car schedule in 2026 – Championship Night on Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Be sure to catch all the action on DIRTVision if you will not be at the track. You certainly will be entertained. #AllDirtRoads
