GENERATING SPEED AT STOCKTON: ENDING THE NIGHT WITH A TOP TEN FINISH IN THE FINALE OF THE DENNIS ROTH CLASSIC SHOWCASING PATIENCE WHILE EXECUTING THE RACE STRATEGY ON A VERY FAST CALIFORNIA RACETRACK

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (September 19, 2026) – When the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series tour finally arrived in California, the first stop was on Friday night at Stockton Dort Track for the first of two nights of racing at the Dennis Roth Classic. James McFadden in the Tarlton and Son #21 outdueled Californians Buddy Kofoid wheeling the Roth Motorsports #83 and Carson Macedo who cruised home in third place piloting the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41. Philip Dietz, Robby McQuinn, and Adam Zimmerman were back at work early Saturday maintaining the car and searching for a little more speed for their driver for the big paying finale. This race is an important one on the schedule not only because it recognizes and honors Dennis Roth’s contributions to the sport of sprint car racing, but also because it helps make sure his name stays connected throughout the racing community for his three decade commitment and support. A true sprint car hero. Plus, there was eighty-three thousand dollars up for grabs for the winner. There was a nice mix of traveling WoO speed stars and home grown California stars lined up throughout the pit area as 34 teams were back at the Stockton Dirt Track for the Dennis Roth Classic finale. It was time to go racing again in “The Golden State” of California – World of Outlaws style!

The name of the game in sprint car racing is speed. As is usual and customary in World of Outlaws competition, each night begins with each driver getting two or three laps around the track at speed in Race//Ready Hot Laps to assess their setup and get exposure to the racing surface before Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. With less than 38 cars registered to race, the field of competitors would be qualifying against each other in a single group in time trials. Where they would go out in that group was determined at the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw at the beginning of the night. For Carson, which meant the Lemoore, California native would be the sixth driver out in his race against time wheeling the Tarlton and Son/Bandy & Associates/BR Motorsports #41 Maxim. He would be joined out on the track in two-car qualifying by Jake Andreotti #2K. When his brother Cole Macedo #2c and friend Spencer Bayston #17 completed their two laps, Carson’s engine fired and he was off to the races. His Hoosier Racing Tires gripped the moist California track surface and propelled him forward. The driver of the forty-one was making tracks and not looking back because he was officially on the clock. He circled around the Stockton Dirt Tack the first time in 11.378 seconds before clipping some time off during his final timed lap coming across the finish line in 11.371 seconds. His best lap was the first one, which ended up only being the 19th quick overall fastest as the track continued to pick up speed. Earning the Simpson Quick Time Award for the night was none other than Buddy Kofoid in the Roth Motorsports #83 for the second night in a row as he maneuvered quickly around Stockton Dirt Track in 11.134 seconds.

Each driver’s best lap in time trials was then used to assign them into one of the four 8-lap Heat races scheduled up next. That put the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/High Performance Lubricants/CS Productions #41 of Carson Macedo in the fifth starting spot in WIX Filters Heat Race #3 where he would pull to the inside of Jake Andreotti #2K in row three where they both were set to accelerate forward. Pacing the field from the front row was Sheldon Haudenschild #18 and Friday night’s winner James McFadden #21 with Logan Schuchart #1s and Bill Balog #17B behind in row two. Two exceptional California racers shared row four with Shane Golobic #17W pulling to the inside of D.J. Netto #88N who owns the one-lap track record her at Stockton.

The eight cars in the starting grid rolled slowly behind the Toyota Pace Truck ready to throttle down when they arrived at the temporary chalk stripe laid down across turn four. When the front row starters arrived at the last turn, it was time to go at the Stockton Dirt Track. Before they got through the first set of turns the yellow flag was already out for Logan Schuchart whose Shark Racing #1s got up over the cushion as he rolled to a stop on the top side of the track. Schuchart rejoined the back of the pack and as the field tried to get going again. This time James McFadden used the racy outside lane to jump out to the early race lead when the green flag waved ahead of Sheldon Haudenschild with Carson finding speed around the bottom in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 to take the third spot. Jake Andreotti and Bill Balog were running nose-to-tail behind the top three in the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

This race was a hammer down type of race following the initial start. Everyone was fast and trying to keep pace with the field of competitors. The qualifying race would go non-stop with James McFadden leading the way to take the win by 1.291 seconds over Sheldon Haudenschild with Carson coming home in third place. Jake Andreotti picked up fourth place finish with Bill Balog securing the fifth and final transfer position to the A-Main.

The show at the Stockton Dirt Track was quick but entertaining up to this point of the night . . . but it was about to get even better as the 24 cars that were in the show began to stage for the 40-lap Dennis Roth Classic A-Main. There was a cool and refreshing $83,000 up for grabs for the first driver who raced under the checkered flag along with 20 pounds of top grade meat courtesy of the folks at Roth.

After winning the Toyota Dash, Emerson Axsom #27 occupied the pole position with Justin Sanders #2X to his outside in row one. Behind those two speedsters in row two were James McFadden #21 and Buddy Kofoid #83 with Max Mittry #2XM and Sheldon Haudenschild #18 together in row three. Row four featured two relented racers in David Gravel #2 and Dominic Gorden #10 with Spencer Bayston #17 and Landon Brooks #21L sitting in row five. Carson Macedo pulled the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 into the eleventh starting position with Skylar Gee #16 to his outside in row six.

This field of talented sprint car drivers, evenly split with 12 World of Outlaws and 12 West Coast-based teams, went four-wide to salute these amazing fans. The Greatest Show on Dirt was ready to entertain some of the greatest fans in the country at the Stockton Dirt Track.

The yellow lights turned off in anticipation of the green flag flying the next time by the flagstand. The engines rumbled gently as they slowly made their way into turn three. Out of turn four the muffled sound of speed roared to life with Justin Sanders leading the opening lap ahead of Axsom and Kofoid with Carson scored in the eleventh running position behind the wheel of the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Engler Machine & Tool/Winters Performance Products #41 Maxim.

This place continued to be lightning fast. They were turning mid-12 second laps as the leaders quickly encroached on the cars at the rear of the field. There was a lot of speed in the track, but not a lot of passing. Carson moved up one position seven laps into the race when he passed Max Mittry for tenth place. He was now looking to track down Spencer Bayston for one position better.

On lap 11, the first race slowdown occurred when seventh place running Sheldon Haudenschild was trying to maneuver around the Tub O’ Towels #28M lap car of Conner Morrell. The two drivers made hard contact sending Sheldon into the outside wall ending his night. The driver of the NOS Energy Drink #18 was not pleased at all and unleashed in his interview with Conner Wade post-incident.

The cars re-aligned and got back going, but the green flag racing was quick as the yellow flag flew again when the sixth and seventh place racers, Dominic Gorden and Landon Brooks, got together when they got back on the gas. Justin Sanders was still leading Axsom, Kofoid, McFadden, and Gravel with Carson restarting from the seventh position in the running order.

The green flag was back out, and the race was on with Sanders continuing to slice through the clean air in his Mittry Construction #2X. He had a fast racecar and boldly worked his way through the slower cars when he caught the lap traffic. Emerson Axsom was not going anywhere though as he kept Sanders within striking distance.

On lap 27, Sanders slipped up and left a lane for Axsom to squeeze through in turns one and two. It was now Axsom out front with Sanders, McFadden, Kofoid, and Gravel in full chase mode. The high speed action continued until lap 32 when the cautions flag was back out for Logan Schuchart who slowed to a stop in turn four after getting over the cushion sideways on entry to turn three. He tagged the rear of the field.

With eight laps left, Emerson Axsom started to envision the end of this race with the checkered flag flying over the KPM #27. He was fast and ran a clean race from the drop of the green. Still running behind Bayston in the seventh position, Carson was looking to make something happen when they got back up to speed but passing was at a premium. The green flag waved again with Emerson Axsom leading Justin Sanders. Carson looked underneath Bayston trying to steal sixth, but nothing.

The white flag flew and it sure looked like Emerson Axsom had this big win within his grasp. But he moved up a lane entering turn three to attempt to move around the lap car of Bill Balog and Justin Sanders seized the day. The driver of the Mittry Construction #2X dove low and made the last lap, last corner pass on Axsom on his way to victory in the Dennis Roth Classic. What a race! A heartbroken Emerson Axsom, who raced an incredible race, came home in the runner-up spot with James McFadden finishing third in the Tarlton and Son #21. David Gravel raced home fourth with Buddy Kofoid rounding out the top five. Carson finished seventh crossing the finish line in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 behind Spencer Bayston with Sander’s teammate Max Mittry finishing eighth, Garet Williamson ninth, and the KSR Hard Charger for the second night in a row Shane Golobic (24th to 10th) rounding out the top ten. Another consistent and good run for Macedo and the forty-one!

Carson Macedo and the World of Outlaws teams will stay in “The Golden State” with the next race moving to Kings Speedway on Tuesday (9/22) for the Central Valley Clash in Hanford, California. This is Carson and Cole Macedo’s home track, and they are excited to race in front of the hometown fans.
