LEADING THEN MISFORTUNE IN OHIO: THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS STARS VISIT ATTICA RACEWAY PARK TO PUT ON A HECKUVA SHOW IN THE 38TH ANNUAL BRAD DOTY CLASSIC WITH THE DRIVER OF THE #41 FAST OUT OF THE GATE LEADING BEFORE HAVING NOWHERE TO GO

ATTICA, OHIO (July 14, 2026) – After the Kistler Engines Classic that was scheduled at Attica Raceway Park back on the first day in May was canceled due to uncooperative weather, Carson Macedo and the World of Outlaws travelers were finally back in Ohio at this beautiful and racy little diamond in the rough to compete in front of these amazing fans. They were here to defend their victory here last year in the Brad Doty Classic. The World of Outlaws schedule meanders around the small towns throughout America taking the race teams to different tracks geographically to meet the great fans of sprint car racing. From the South to the Midwest, then to the East, and as far out as the West Coast, these professional race teams take their show on the road (or technically the dirt) to entertain at speed.

Similarly, the Union Pacific’s 4014 Big Boy was traversing across the county and recently crossed through Ohio on its way back to Wyoming after a grand tour of the East Coast during America’s 250th Anniversary. Carson and the team, after racing through Wisconsin last weekend, headed over to Ohio for the first of multiple important scheduled race dates in the state this week. The initial summer stop in the “Buckeye State” was Attica Raceway Park, which is an action packed, high-banked, 1/3-mile oval without walls in the turns nestled in the north central part of the state that always delivers an incredible experience for both the fans and the race teams alike. There were 49 race haulers that drove down the dirt road just beyond the back straightaway to find their parking spot in the pit area outside of turns three and four as they began to prepare for the evening’s racing activities at the 38th Annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by dac Vitamins and Minerals on a beautiful Tuesday with the sun shining overhead.

Each competitor got a few laps out on the track in Race//Ready Hot Laps before they would start the show. The first official order of business for the competitors was Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying where each driver would get to sling dirt on the high banks during their two timed laps in qualifying. Slated to be the 23rd driver out on the track in Flight A for his time trial laps; after selecting pill number 151, Carson secured his Crow Enterprizes safety belts and flipped the shield down on his custom, painted Clenin Farm Supply/Empire Machinery/KIWI Motorsports Bell Helmet. When the push truck tapped his rear nerf bar the Kistler Engines power under the hood came to life as he entered the track in turn four. The Californian began to rip immediately and the numbers on the clock were rolling measuring his work throughout his first lap around Attica Raceway Park. When he crossed the timing stripe the numbers on the clock read 12.432 seconds. He muscled his way through the first set of turns one last time before banging through the last set on his way to the checkered flag. Laps two came in better at 12.303 seconds with the faster of his two laps position him seventh quick in Flight A. The driver who did the quickest work in time trials was “The North Pole Nightmare” Bill Balog #17B with a smoking lap in 12.031 seconds in Flight A to earn the Simpson Quick Time Award. The fastest driver out of Flight B was Bryce Lucius #32 at 12.101 seconds.

Each driver’s best lap in time trials positioned them in their starting spot in one of the four 10-lap Heat races where they would duel for one of the five transfer spots available in each race to lock into the A-Main feature. Sounds easy but all these drivers are stout, capable and proven competitors, so transfers spots are earned not guaranteed. Assigned to the fourth starting position in NOS Energy Drink Heat Race #1, Carson climbed into his office aboard the Scott Boyd Family/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Team Jack Foundation #41 Maxim prepared to battle. He would start to the outside of Adrian, Michigan’s Darin Naida #11N in row two as they rolled behind Bill Balog #17B and Chris Andrews #15C in the front row. Garet Williamson #23 and Cole Macedo #2c paced in row three as Jordan Ryan #25R and Brad Lamberson #6 sat poised in row four with Conner Morrell #28M and Ryan Timms #10 idling in row five. After winning the non-qualifiers race, Chris Windom #7s tagged the rear of the field in row six alone as the speed athletes waited for the opportunity to stand on the gas.

When the polesitter peeked out of turn four the dust from the chalk stripe laid across the turn flew high into the air. The race to turn one was on. Bill Balog led the field when they exited turn two as he drifted up the track through the first set of turns forcing Chris Andrews up and over the outside berm of the track on exit. That enabled Carson to sneak underneath into the second spot down the backstretch. It was Balog, Macedo, Andrews, Ryan, and Naida in the top five at the end of the first completed circuit.

Carson had his elbows up with the leader setting the pace out front. When each lap was officially recorded the distance between the first two drivers did not change much as it remained just over one second. Soon the flagman waved the white flag, and Bill Balog led the entire distance from flag-to-flag to take the win with Carson driving the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 home in the runner-up position. The top two drivers would advance into the Toyota Dash with Chris Andrews, Jordan Ryan, and Darin Naida securing the final three transfer spots into the feature.

The Heat race winners and runner-up finishers headed to victory lane to draw another number to determine where they would start in the 8-lap Toyota Dash. When all the numbers were drawn out of the oversized NOS Energy Drink can, the starting grid for the Dash would shine a light on front row starters Logan Schuchart #1s and Carson Macedo #41 with Buddy Kofoid #83 and Bryce Lucius #32 together in row two. Row three featured two of the sports enduring stars in Kyle Larson #57 and David Gravel #2 with Bill Balog #17B and Tanner Thorson #88 parallel in row four.

Logan Schuchart dropped the hammer when the green flag flew with Carson tucking the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Durst Inc./CASM Safety Products #41 Maxim right behind him at the end of lap one. Third place Bryce Lucius ducked under Carson entering turn one. The two drivers exited turn two side-by-side down as they raced down the backstretch. Lucius hugged the bottom entering turn three and slid up across the track in turn four to take the position. But Carson turned the forty-one down and drove back underneath him just after the start finish line. This time Carson used the low line to pass Lucius back for second position. Great racing at Attica Raceway Park in the Dash! Logan Schuchart would be uncontested a race from the top spot throughout the Dash to take the win with Carson coming home second. Bryce Lucius finished third, Buddy Kofoid fourth, with Kyle Larson rounding out the top five. David Gravel raced home sixth with Bill Balog and Tanner Thorson rounding out the finishing order in seventh and eighth place, respectively.

It was now time for the 40-lap, 38th Annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by dac Vitamins and Minerals feature showdown at Attica Raceway Park. The starters in the first four rows all earned their spots based on the finishing order in the Toyota Dash. Carson’s race journey would begin from the second starting spot on the outside of the front row aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative/High Performance Lubricants/Engler Machine & Tool #41 Maxim alongside Logan Schuchart’s Shark Racing #1s. Pacing behind them in row two were Bryce Lucius #32 and Buddy Kofoid #83 with Kyle Larson #57 and David Gravel #2 in row three. Quick timer Bill Balog #17B and Tanner Thorson #88 shared row four with Chris Andrews #15C and Emerson Axsom #27 rolling in row five.

Forty laps of racing to honor one of the most authentic and genuinely nice guys in racing, as well as formerly one of the best in the business when he was in the seat – Brad Doty! A true sprint car racing hero. The yellow lights turned off as the drivers paced in the neatly aligned two-by-two starting grid order all ready to stomp the loud pedal when they reached turn four. Chaos was about to ensue when the green flag waved. Carson powered his way off the outside row into the lead down the front straightaway taking the top spot on the first lap ahead of Logan Schuchart, Bryce Lucius, and Buddy Kofoid as they flashed by the flagstand. Carson had a fast Albaugh- Your Alternative hotrod and was laying down tracks and not looking back early at “The Doty.”

By lap 7, the Lemoore, California racer began navigating slower lap traffic allowing the Shark Racing #1s to close the gap om the leader. Third place running Bryce Lucius was also entering the mix right behind Schuchart. Carson maintained control out in front of the pack through the first 10 laps. But just behind him things were starting to heat up quite a bit for the runner-up position with Schuchart and Lucius going at it hard.

On lap 13, Bryce Lucius drove by Schuchart to take over second place as he set his sights on tracking down Carson who was out front by just under a half second. Fourth place running Kyle Larson also moved by Schuchart to take over the show positions as both Lucius and Larson were now closing in quickly on Macedo.

Carson was working the low line as Lucius and Larson were able to try different lanes. They found something up higher on the track a lane above where Macedo was running and on lap 16, both raced by Carson on the outside exciting turn four relegating the driver of the forty-one back to third place. Carson still had good speed and there was a lot of racing remaining, 24 laps, for him to get back in the mix for the lead.

That all changed rapidly though on lap 18, when second place running Kyle Larson lost the handle on the top side of turn two after getting up over the berm. He started to spin right in front of the hard charging driver of the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41. Larson front end came around leaving Carson nowhere to go as his right rear tire ran over Larson’s front end sending Macedo flipping out of turn two. The car had extensive damage, but the driver was ok. The tow truck took the mashed up racecar to the official work area where the JJR crew with assistance from the Tarlton #21 crew, Cole Macedo and the TwoC Racing team, and some of the NOS Energy Drink #17 crew members began to change the front axle, replace the front wing and the top wing, and go to work replacing the Jacob’s ladder at the rear of the car. The crew ran out of time in the work area as the green flag came out with Bryce Lucius leading Larson, Schuchart, Kofoid, and Balog back up to speed. The crew continued to work to make repairs hoping for another race interruption or stoppage.

On lap 21, the red flag was back out. This time it was for eleventh running Sheldon Haudenschild in the KCP Racing #18 who was battling for the tenth spot with James McFadden #21. Haudenschild’s got crossed up coming off turn four, then came down across the track contacting Ashton Torgerson #51 sending the NOS Energy Drink #18 flipping hard into the outside frontstretch wall and fence. Haudenschild climbed out of the car and was ok as the safety crew towed his mangled car to the work area. He would later rejoin the field too.

The forty-one used the race stoppage to finish the necessary work enabling Carson to rejoin the field multiple laps down. When they went back to green flag racing the 19 year old rising star Bryce Lucius was still showing the way with Kyle Larson stalking him from behind. Larson would catch the rising young star and make the pass for the race lead on lap 23. The NASCAR champion was fast and leaving the field behind.

On lap 32, Larson’s fortunes change dramatically though when he raced hard through the last set of turns around the top of the track racing through the ruts. The #57 began to bounce and the leader flipped hard ending his night. The champion and competitive racer, Larson stood tall, admitted fault while taking responsibility for his accident as well as apologizing for Carson getting caught up in his spin earlier in turn two. That type of character and integrity is why he is respected as a racecar driver no matter what type of car he is wheeling.

There were eight more laps to go with Bryce Lucius lowering his right foot to lead Logan Schuchart and Buddy Kofoid back up to racing speed. The eager racer would not be denied as he raced to the biggest win of his early racing career winning the 38th Annual Brad Doty Classic and the $20,000 check that goes to the winner. Congrats! Logan Schuchart was the runner-up finisher with Buddy Kofoid rounding out the podium.

After leading the first 15 laps of the race before encountering misfortune in turn two, Carson came back out to salvage a 17th place finish. For his bad luck during the race, Carson was recognized with the race’s SmithTI Brake System Brake of the Race. Certainly, disappointing but the positive and encouraging part of the night was that Carson and the team had a fast racecar all night. They had a hotrod that was more than capable of running up front and contending for the win. The team will get back in the saddle on and fight on!

The next stop for Carson and the JJR #41 team is Rossburg, Ohio on Wednesday night down at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway for the High Limit Interstate Batteries Racing Series’ Double Down Duel$ followed by their Joker’s Jackpot race on Thursday night before the Kings Royal weekend. Catch all the action on Flo Racing.
