CHASING THE BRINKS TRUCK: THE GRAND FINALE OF THE HUSET’S HIGH BANK NATIONALS CULMINATES WITH CARSON MACEDO TRUCKING FORWARD MESILLA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION (MVT) STYLE TO AN EIGHTH PLACE FINISH IN THE FORTY-ONE
BRANDON, SOUTH DAKOTA (June 20, 2026) – After a humbling night of competition on Friday night for Carson Macedo who crossed the finish line In the Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown (LCS) in seventh place on the preliminary night of the Huset’s High Bank Nationals, the driver and team had some more heavy lifting to do on Saturday in the finale. He earned 432 event points which was 28th overall. The sun broke over the eastern horizon and started its ascent into the blue skies of South Dakota. There was still quite a bit of work to do for the team to accomplish their goals at this big money event, so Philip Dietz, Robby McQuinn, and Adam Zimmerman woke up early and put in the time doing what they needed to do on the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 to make sure the Carson’s speed chariot was prepared for competition on Saturday night. Thanks to Tod Quiring and his officials at Huset’s Speedway there was again a lot of money on the line for the victor of the $300,000-to-win event, the largest single winner’s pay day in the sport, and $5,000-to-start Huset’s High Bank Nationals. In addition, there was an additional $100,000 Bounty Bonus going to any non-World of Outlaws driver if they win the race. The pit area was bustling with 49 race teams back at the track and focused on performing at their highest level. It was a special day in South Dakota for sprint car racing. It was race day – a big money kind of day – at Huset’s Speedway!
Preliminary night points for each driver were used to establish the starting lineups for each of the six Heat races. The winners of each of those qualifying races would advance into the $1,000-to-win Toyota King of the Hill races to determine the starting spots in the first three rows of the feature. The second and third place finishers in the heat races would then redraw for their starting positions in positions 7 through 12 (second place finishers) and 13 through 18 (third place finishers) respectively.

Based on his accumulated points from Friday’s preliminary night, Carson would get his qualifying race started aboard the Tarlton and Son/Sander Engineering/Greber Racing Components (GRC) #41 Maxim from the inside of row three from the fifth position. The driver on the pole position in the front row represented Hanover, Pennsylvania, Logan Schuchart #1s with Bradenton, Florida’s Conner Morrell #28M to his outside. Pacing in row two was Carson’s brother Cole Macedo #2C from Lemoore, California with Scotty Broty #33 from Lonsdale, Minnesota to his outside as they slowly drove in front of the older Macedo brother Carson and Altoona, Iowa’s Austin McCarl in row three. Situated in row four were Rees Moran #45X from Tulsa, Oklahoma and Matt Juhl #14H hailing from Tea, South Dakota. These eight drivers were ready to pound the loud pedal in Golf Cart Services Heat Race #4.
Ten laps of battle awaited each driver in their qualifying races all dicing for the win-place-show positions to lock into the A-Main. The driver’s heart rate began to pump a little faster when the yellow lights dimmed around the track in anticipation of the waving green flag. The field paced slowly down the back straightaway enroute to the chalk line laid across turn four. When the front row starters arrived, the adrenaline kicked in and the paced picked up rapidly as they raced towards the first set of turns.
The driver of the Shark Racing/DuraMAX #1s led the opening lap with Cole Macedo #2C with Conner Morrell #28M falling back to the show position at the end of the first circuit. Gaining one spot early, Carson drove the Border International/High Performance Lubricants/Smith TI #41 into fourth leaning on the cushion to make speed ahead of fifth running Rees Moran.
The driver of the forty-one was on another mission and stayed laser focus. He started to inch closer on the tail tank of the Tub O’ Towels #28M for that final transfer position. On lap 3, Carson was right there, just 0.082 seconds behind at the line. The next time by the flagstand the Lemoore, California racer roared by Conner Morrell to take over the all important third spot.
When the white flag unfurled it was Logan Schuchart, Cole Macedo, and Carson Macedo racing towards the checkered flag. They finished in that order with Conner Morrell and Austin McCarl who rounded out the top five.

The 24 starters that earned a spot in the $300,000-to-win Huset’s High Bank Nationals A-Main began to climb into their cars for the 40-lap event. The winner of the King of the Hill race was David Gravel who pulled the Big Game Motorsports/Huset’s Speedway/Billion Automotive #2 into the inside of the front row with Sheldon Haudenschild in the KCP Racing/NOS Energy Drink #18 flanking his right side up front. Donny Schatz behind the wheel of the CJB/Encynbro Trucking 15 and Giovanni Scelzi strapped into the Spire Motorsports/Chili’s #77 pulling in behind the front row duo in row two. Logan Schuchart flipped his helmet shield down in the Shark Racing/DuraMAX #1s along with Bill Balog #17B side-by-side together in row three.
Carson paced around behind the wheel of the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 in the 14th place starting position with Ryan Timms #10 in row seven. The field went four-wide to salute and display their gratitude to these great fans who packed the grandstands along with Tod Quiring and his Huset’s team for planning and putting on this huge sprint car event.
The drivers raced back into their starting spots and the next time by the race would go green. Polesitter David Gravel would take command of the top spot when the green lights turned on followed by Sheldon Haudenschild and Donny Schatz. Carson got shuffled back to 15 on the opening lap just behind Garet Williamson and Jy Corbet.
By the third lap Carson would regain that position as he began to race in Cole Macedo’s and Garet Williamson’s track who were scored in 12th and 13th place, respectively. As the adage goes, patience is a virtue. But man is patience hard to be disciplined around for the drivers of these high speed rockets.
David Gravel was showing the way out front, but Donny Schatz came alive and moved by Haudenschild into the runner-up position on lap 9. The leader was setting a torrid place at the front of the pack and weaving through lap cars to perfection.
The first slowdown of the race came on lap 20 just ahead of Carson when Bill Balog #17B got crossed up coming out of turn two spinning to a stop on the backstretch. David Gravel was the race leader followed by Donny Schatz, Sheldon Haudenschild, Tyler Courney, and Logan Schuchart with Carson ready to restart from the 13th starting spot.
The restart was brief when the caution flag quickly flew again for Parker-Price Miller #5 as he sat idle in the loose stuff on the top side of turn four. With 20 laps remaining, David Gravel dropped the hammer, and the field was off again racing around Huset’s bullring. Donny Schatz was still in second place, but Tyler Courtney was on the move as he passed Haudenschild to take over the show position. Carson advanced up to 11th place sandwiched between tenth place running Logan Schuchart and twelfth place running Chris Windom.
Four more laps were recorded before the red flag flew on lap 24 for a violent flip in tur one involving Kasey Jedrzejek #6 and Chris Martin #44 after making contact at the end of the front straightaway. Chris Martin climbed out of the car and was ok. It took some time, but Kasey Jedrzejek slowly climbed out of his racecar and walked to the ambulance before heading to the hospital for further observation.
With 16 laps remaining, David Gravel began to see the location of the bank on his GPS. Tyler Courtney continued his forward march moving by Schatz into the second spot with the ten-time World of Outlaws champion sliding back to fifth place behind Gravel, Courtney, Scelzi, and Haudenschild.
The green flag waved gin with Gravel pedaling down ahead of Courtney with Haudenschild vaulting into third place. Carson made a move to race by Cole Macedo and Logan Schuchart and was the tenth driver listed in the running order aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41.
Carson continued to focus and execute his race plan. The next time around he passed Spencer Bayston and Ryan Timms and was scored in eighth place just behind Buddy Kofoid and Garet Williamson in the running order with 14 laps remaining.
Siri guided David Gravel directly to the bank so he could deposit the $300k check he received for winning the race with Tyler Courtney coming home second and Donny Schatz battling back to stand on the last step of the podium at the BillionAuto.com Huset’s High Bank Nationals. Giovanni finished fourth with Buddy Kofoid completing the top five. Sheldon Haudenschild earned sixth place followed by Garet Williamson, Carson Macedo, Spencer Bayston, and Logan Schuchart in the top ten.
After a challenging four days of racing, the JJR #41 never quit and earned a well-deserved top ten run in the finale. A big shout out to Philip, Carson, Robby, and Adam for persevering and working through adversity. A good run for Macedo and the forty-one to end the big money racing at Huset’s Speedway.
There is no rest for the weary as Carson Macedo and his fellow World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series comrades will now head to Cedar Lake Speedway next weekend (Friday 6/26 and Saturday 6/27) for the Independence Day Spectacular. Do not forget to tune into DIRTVision to watch both nights of action if your plans are not taking you to New Richmond, Wisconsin.
