FRIENDLY FIRE IN PENNSYLVANIA: THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS AND PA POSSE RENEW THEIR ANNUAL BATTLE IN 2026 AT LINCOLN SPEEDWAY’S GETTYSBURG CLASH WITH CARSON MACEDO CAPTURING A RUNNER-UP FINISH AT THE LINE

ABBOTTSTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA (May 5, 2026) – After weather damped the scheduled racing action over in Ohio last weekend, people in the areas surrounding Gettysburg, Pennsylvania identified some unwanted invaders encroaching in on their territory on a warm and sunny Tuesday near the small town of Abbottstown. These invaders were label “World of Outlaws” in the reports as they moved into town from all directions. The last report had them heading down Kinneman Road towards Lincoln Speedway and Racetrack Road with their high powered ammunition in the back of their haulers. Intelligence officials informed the Pennsylvania Posse battalions of these sightings, and the local warriors began preparing for the ensuing battle later that evening in the Gettysburg Clash. This would be the first of many battles held in the “Keystone State” of Pennsylvania this week and throughout the 2026season. There were 40 410 battle ready race drivers prepared for the fight. Joining those speed heroes were the Wingless Super Sportsman drivers who were set to assist on the front lines to deliver a high quality show for the fans in the stands. It was race day in Pennsylvania in the first edition of the World of Outlaws versus the Pennsylvania Posse (PA Posse) at Lincoln Speedway. Let’s go racing!

With the pit area loaded with talent, the field of competitors divided into two separate groups for Race//Ready Hot Laps and Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. After his Hot Lap session Carson pulled to the rear of the trailer as Philip (Dietz), Adam (Zimmerman), and Robby (McQuinn) went to work making some adjustments on the car for time trials. The Lemoore, California born speedster was the 12th driver to push out in Flight B for his two laps against the clock around this racy 3/8-mile high banked clay oval. When the red hot Chase Dietz in the Stehman Motorsports #23D finished his speed attempts in time trials the power plant under the Prime Composite Innovations carbon fiber hood came to life as Carson rolled up onto the track in turn three. Carson mashed his right foot on the speed button and took off in the Tarlton and Son/Motor State Distributing/Sander Engineering #41 Maxim catapulting towards the waving green flag displayed on the video board hanging from the flagstand. He was now on the clock. Carson hustled the forty-one around the banking of the track and completed his first circuit in 14.643 seconds. Hammer down, he stayed focused and carried his Kistler Engines generated speed forward looking to pick up the pace the next time around. When he darted by the waving checkered flag the numbers that popped up on the scoreboard displayed 14.780 seconds. The quicker of his two laps was fifth overall in Flight B as PA Posse member Cameron Smith #75 recorded the quickest time in that group at 14.424 seconds. Another PA Posse soldier Danny Dietrich #48 out of Flight A rocketed around Lincoln Speedway in 13.584 seconds to earn the Simpson Quick Time Award honors for turning the fastest lap of the night.

With qualifying now completed it was now time for drivers to compete in the 8-lapHeat Races as the drivers battled to secure one of the five transfer spots available in each race. Scheduled to start on the inside of row two from the third position, Carson climbed into the cockpit of the High Performance Lubricants/Winters Performance Products/Schoenfeld Headers #41 as he prepared for WIX Filters Heat Race #3. He slowly paced around the surface pulling up alongside his younger brother Cole Macedo in the TwoC Racing entry. Directly in front of the two sibling chauffeurs on the front row were Cameron Smith #75 and Bill Balog #17B with Conner Morrell #28M and Brock Zearfoss #3z tucking in behind in row three. Kasey Jedrzejek #6, Freddie Rahmer #51, Dominic Melair #19, and Tyler Ross #5 paced in the last two rows ready to get their elbows up.

The field of enemies and stars, depending on your individual perspective, passed the flagstand slowly one last time. They were moving at a snail’s pace this lap, but the next time by they would flash by with cheetah like speed after they exited turn four. The green flag waved on the H&H General Excavating display board as polesitter Cameron Smith accelerated off the bottom to start the race. But it was outside front row starter Bill Balog leading the first lap with Carson moving the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 into the runner-up position ahead of Cameron Smith as Brock Zearfoss and Cole Macedo rounded out the top five.

The running order was the same at the halfway point of the race but the driver of the forty-one was closing in on the leader. The action on the track was about to get more interesting. It took a few more turns around Lincoln Speedway, but Carson was up on the wheel and raced into the lead on lap 7 using the high side to move by Balog. Carson would go on to take the Heat race win, his sixth of the season, over Balog with Smith, Zearfoss, and Cole Macedo earning the final three transfer positions.

The top two finishers in each of the four qualifying races headed to the front straightaway to draw for their starting positions for the 6-lap Toyota Dash. When the eight pills were drawn it would be David Gravel #2 on the pole with Logan Rumsey #41R on the outside of the front row. Bill Balog #17B and Buddy Kofoid #83 were right behind in row two with Chase Dietz #23D joining Carson Macedo #41 in row three. The fourth and final row was made up of Sheldon Haudenschild #18 and Danny Dietrich #48. Five (5) Outlaws; Three (3) PA Posse. When the green flag was displayed it was David Gravel racing into the lead ahead of Rumsey and Kofoid with Carson driving the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/FK Shocks/Smith TI #41 into the fourth spot.

On lap 3, the race was temporarily slowed when sixth running Chase Dietz spun in turn three. David Gravel brought them back up to speed with Carson using the restart as an opportunity to move by Kofoid into the show position behind Rumsey. The leader began to check out in clean air over the last half of the race capturing the checkers ahead of Rumsey with Carson driving home third. He was followed across the finish line by Kofoid, Haudenschild, Balog, Dietrich, and Dietz.

At the conclusion of the Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown (LCS) the 28 cars that earned starting positions, inclusive of the four provisional starters, in the 35-lap Gettysburg Clash feature began to roll towards the racing surface from their parking stalls in the backstretch pit area. The drivers were ready to get to work at speed.

No matter how intense this rivalry is portrayed, the racing is always terrific when the PA Posse locals and WoO invaders get together in Pennsylvania! The series, drivers, and teams all genuinely appreciate the passion and support of these fans and share their gratitude when they go four-wide as a salute all of them.

Carson pulled the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Motor State Distributing/Saldana Racing Products #41 Maxim into his third starting spot beside Buddy Kofoid in the Roth Motorsports #83 in row two. The front row starters, David Gravel #2 and Logan Rumsey #41R, paced the field in their two-by-two starting formation as they made their way down the back straightaway one last time before getting on the throttle. It was now time to get down to business in the Gettysburg Clash.

Out of turn four the sanity and organization turned into controlled chaos and excitement. The two-time and defending World of Outlaws champion in the Big Game Motorsports #2 took control of the top spot early with Carson hounding him from behind in the third spot. The next time around, Macedo drove around Rumsey into second with Kofoid following him to take third.

The action was heating up quickly though as the leaders began slicing and dicing through slower traffic allowing Kofoid to close in on Carson for the second spot. On lap 11, Buddy Kofoid used the middle of turns three and four to move by the JJR #41 to take over the runner-up position as he quickly turned his sights to the race leader. Sheldon Haudenschild was also on the move as he was now running in the fourth spot with Chase Dietz completing the top five.

On lap 12, the red flag came out after Brock Zearfoss #3z got into the turn four wall leaving Cole Macedo #2c nowhere to go. After the accident scene cleared both drivers headed to the work area and were able to rejoin at the rear of the field. David Gravel fired off again and dashed into the lead with Buddy Kofoid staying within striking distance. Carson was now in a torrid battle for the third position with Sheldon Haudenschild. The two drivers would swap the better spot over the next two laps with Carson now running in third before the driver of the KCP Racing #18 caught the outside wall in turn four to bring out the yellow flag on lap 15.

With 20 laps to go there was a lot of excitement and entertainment still left in the tank. Gravel and Kofoid led them back up to speed with Chase Dietz using the reset as an opportunity to move in front of Carson in the running order with Danny Dietrich advancing into the fifth position.

On lap 18 the yellow flag was thrown for 13th place running Freddie Rahmer #51 who made hard contact with the outside wall in turn four to pause the action. This time when they went back racing Buddy Kofoid drove into the race lead ahead of Gravel with Carson stealing the third position back away from Dietz. There were battles for lower numbered spots going on from the front of the field to the back of the pack. Great racing action everywhere!

On lap 19 the red flag came back out for Logan Schuchart who got some airtime as he flipped his Shark Racing #1s in the middle of turns three and four after racing contact. Also involved were Bill Balog #17B whose car was laying on its side, Skylar Gee #16, and Ashton Torgerson #1a. Race officials used this race stoppage as an opportunity to call for an “Open Red” so teams could refuel and adjust their cars for a sprint to the end of the race.

The engines refired and it was time to get back to business at the Gettysburg Clash. Buddy Kofoid stayed in the lead with David Gravel and Carson Macedo close behind. With 14 laps to go, Macedo got a good run down the back straightaway and dove underneath Gravel trying to claim the second spot. He was successful and when they left turn four it was Kofoid, Macedo, and Gravel in the top three with Dietz, and Rumsey right behind. Chase Dietz would also move by Gravel to take over third place three laps later.

The track was in excellent shape with multiple lanes for the drivers to race. The racing surface started to take on a little rubber late and the bottom became the preferred line. The leaders were in lap traffic and Carson was right on the rear nerf bar of the leader when the white flag came out. Macedo was in stalk mode. When they entered turn three he entered lower than Kofoid and off turn four he had a run on the leader in a race to the finish line. Buddy Kofoid was the first to arrive as he took the win by just .060 seconds at the line over the driver of the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 as the invader claimed the bayonet rifle trophy and two of the podium spots with Chase Dietz coming home third. David Gravel and Danny Dietrich completed the top five at the Gettysburg Clash. Another good run for Macedo and the forty-one!

The battle now moves a little North up Route 15 to Williams Grove Speedway for the two-day HVAC Distributors Morgan Cup on Friday and Saturday night. The speed and entertainment will be worth the price of admission so make your plans accordingly to come out to the track. Or tune into DIRTVision, so you do not miss any of the great action at the famous half mile oval.
