REELING IN POSITIONS: THE ACTION FLOWED ALL NIGHT AT CREEK COUNTY SPEEDWAY WITH CARSON DRIVING THE ALBAUGH – YOUR ALTERNATIVE #41 FROM THE BACK TO A TOP TEN FINISH IN THE CREEKADEGA 40 EVENT IN OKLAHOMA
SAPULPA, OKLAHOMA (March 21, 2026) – When the checkered flag waved at the Sooner Stampede on Friday night over at Lawton Speedway, where Carson collected a 16th place finish after contending early and spinning while racing for third, the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) team loaded their Maxim Racing speed equipment into the hauler and trucked Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) style 3 hours over to the Tulsa area of Oklahoma to Creek County Speedway looking to continue their success. This quarter mile oval consistently produces exciting action from the drop of the green flag through the waving of the black and white cloth at the end of the night. A total of 43 race teams pulled through the pit gates ready to get after it . . . World of Outlaws (WoO) style in the Creekadega 40.
After each driver got a few spins around the Creek County Speedway oval in Race//Ready Hot Laps, the race teams made some minor speed adjustments in preparation for Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. Slated to go out late (20th of 22) in the Flight A time trial order aboard the Tarlton and Son/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Head/Wilwood Racing #41 Maxim, Carson climbed into the cockpit and buckled his Crow Enterprizes safety belts. After Donny Schatz, driving the Horizon Whiskey #15, completed his timed attempts, the Lemoore, California speed chauffeur was ready to get down to business making speed in Oklahoma. He dropped his right K1 Race Gear boot on the loud pedal and was off. He raced underneath the green flag and was on the clock. Carson hit his marks on the opening lap stopping the clock officially at 12.856 seconds. Carson continued his high speed adventure throughout his second lap without having any time to sight see along the way because this time around he tripped the timing light in 13.201 seconds. The fastest of his two laps was the first one which stood 14th quick overall in Flight A when time trials concluded. The hot shoe for the night in Sapulpa with a lap of 11.961 seconds in Flight A was David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 earning him the Simpson Quick Time Award. The quickest driver out of Flight B was Ashton Torgerson #1a at 12.664 seconds.

World of Outlaws Timing and Scoring officials used each driver’s fastest lap to assign them to one of the four 10-lap Heat Races. The fastest drivers would start at the front of each of the qualifying races with everyone else forced to chase them down in two and a half miles of green flag racing. After struggling a bit in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying that positioned him in the 7th starting spot behind the wheel of the Border International/Schoenfeld Headers/Winters Performance Products #41 in DIRTVision Heat Race #2 alongside Bryce Lucius #32 in row four. Other competitors in this qualifying race were Bill Balog #17B and Sam Hafertepe, Jr. #15H on the front row with Spencer Bayston #17 and Conner Morrell #28M behind in row two. Ayrton Gennetten #3 and Sean McClelland #1 were partnered in row three with Ryder LaPlant #88R, Scotty Thiel #16C, and Kyle Bellm #G6 filling in row five and the final row.
The 11 drivers lined up neatly two-by-two as they paced slowly down the back straightaway. That all changed when they stomped on the accelerator out of turn four with Bill Balog jumping into the early race lead ahead of Hafertepe Jr. and Bayston before the yellow flag came out. The early race slowdown was for Carson who clipped the inside tractor tire and spun to a stop. He would have to go to the back of the pack and his road ahead in the race for a qualifying spot was going to be a steep uphill climb. The green flag was waving again with Balog driving the Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup #17 into the lead with Hafertepe Jr., Bayston, Gennetten, and Morrell up on their steering wheels chasing him. Carson moved into tenth early but was only able to climb up to 8th place when the checkered flag flew to end the race. Bill Balog collected the win followed by Sam Hafertepe Jr., Spencer Bayston, Ayrton Gennetten, and Bryce Lucius who all locked up their transfer positions to the feature.
Carson was relegated to the Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown (LCS) to attempt to earn one of the four remaining starting positions in the money paying feature. He would again have to earn it though as he would have to start from the 11th starting spot with only four transfer positions available. Conner Morrell #28M and Chris Windom #7s paced the field from the front row with Alex Sewell #32s and Logan Julien #85J were behind in row two. Carson shared row six with Christiopher Thram #24T. He was primed and ready to go when Morrell brought the field up to speed with the green lights on. Windom followed the leader with Sean Rayhall and Scotty Thiel #16C holding all the transfer positions. Carson picked up one spot and was in tenth when the yellow flag came out for a three car tangle involving Ricky Peterson #98, Christopher Thram #24T, and Alex Sewell #32s on lap 2. Once the accident scene cleared, the green lights were back on as Morrell escorted the remaining field back up to speed. Carson began his march forward gaining a position. By lap 3, he was up to 7th place and looking for more. He continued his march forward and on lap 5 passed Sean Rayhall to move into fourth, which was the coveted last transfer position. He was not done yet though with Morrell, Thiel, and Windom ahead of him with 7 laps to go. Scotty Thiel moved by Morrell into the race lead with Carson closing in on Windom. Eventually, both Windom and Macedo would pass the driver of the Tub O’ Towels #28M and were now running in the second and third positions with 3 laps to go. Chris Windom was fast and roared into the lead with a pass on Thiel. Carson also then passed Thiel with one lap to go to move into the runner-up position. When the checkered flag flew, Chris Windom raced across the finish line collecting the win the Last Chance Showdown (LCS) followed by Carson in second, Thiel third, and Morrell in fourth.

With all the qualifying action wrapped up it was now time for the 40-Lap Creekadega 40 feature. The front four rows for the feature lined up the way they finished in the Toyota Dash. That put Bill Balog #17B and Logan Schuchart #1s on the front row to lead the field to the green flag with Buddy Kofoid #83 and Garet Williamson #23 in row two, David Gravel #2 and Sam Hafertepe Jr. #15H in row three, and Ashton Torgerson #1a and Sheldon Haudenschild #18 tucked back in row four. Carson would start near the back of the pack from the 22nd position in row eleven. He pulled the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Saldana Race Products/ CASM Safety Products #41 Maxim to the outside of Chris Windom in the NOS Energy Drink #7s ready to compete in front of this Standing Room Only (SRO) crowd of Oklahoma sprint car fans.
The yellow lights turned off around the track as it was time to dig up some dirt the next time by. Polesitter Bill Balog led the field up to speed blasting under the green flag and into turn one. He led lap one ahead of Schuchart, Kofoid, Gravel, and Williamson. A little further back, scored in the 20th running position at the end of lap one, Carson had his elbows up and working hard wheeling the forty-one.
The next time around the track there was a lead change as Logan Schuchart drove around the outside of Balog who got sideways in turn two with Kofoid following suit as he moved into the runner-up position. The yellow flag then came out for Scotty Thiel #16C, Bryce Lucius #32, and Conner Morrell #28M who all headed to the work area to try to make repairs.
Carson would restart from just inside the top twenty and went back to work when the green flag came back out. By the end of lap three the California racer moved up to 15th place in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41. Up front, Bill Balog reclaimed the lead from Logan Schuchart using the bottom to drive by both him and Buddy Kofoid.
On lap 13, with Balog still out front, the yellow flag slowed the action again as Scotty Thiel’s tough night continued as he was off the pace. He would rejoin the field. Logan Schuchart would restart second with Kofoid and Gravel right behind. Carson was up to 13th place and would restart with Seth Bergman #23B to his outside.
They went back racing with high speed, controlled chaos happening all throughout the field. They would get two more laps in before the yellow was back out for Thiel who spun in turn one making a bad night worse. Bill Balog was still out front with Buddy Kofoid now in second, Logan Schuchart third, and David Gravel primed in the fourth spot.
The green lights turned back on, and the race was back on. Buddy Kofoid wrestled the lead away from Bill Balog and was now your race leader with 24 laps to go. Behind them David Gravel found his groove and moved by Balog and Schuchart with the Roth Motorsports #83 the only car now ahead of him.
Carson was twelfth in the running order at the halfway point of the race. One lap later, the yellow flag was back out for Scott Bogucki #51 who spun and was stopped and sitting in the wrong direction on the high side of turn two. Buddy Kofoid was the race leader with David Gravel running second.
The Penngrove, California driver would maintain the lead when they went back racing with Gravel, Schuchart, Balog, and Donny Schatz entering the top five. Carson was on the move too as he was now running in the ninth position racing with Sheldon Haudenschild and Garet Williamson. Haudenschild would regain the lowered number position from Macedo on lap 23 with Gravel streaking into the race lead making speed around the bottom.
Logan Schuchart had speed with 10 laps to go as he moved into the runner-up position getting past Kofoid. The Pennsylvania driver was railing the top side and making speed. He was closing in on the race leader who was stuck behind slower cars inching around the bottom and on lap 33 raced into position one.
David Gravel stayed patient and on lap 36 retook the lead for good as he raced to his third consecutive World of Outlaws feature win of the season and sweeping the weekend in Oklahoma. Logan Schuchart faded late to finish fifth just behind Spencer Bayston with Buddy Kofoid scored as the runner-up finisher with Donny Schatz rounding out the podium with a third place run.
Carson earned the KSE Hard Charger Award for his efforts throughout the night gaining twelve positions to finish in 10th place. The driver and team persevered and overcame a lot of self-imposed obstacles early to earn a top ten finish.
Next weekend the schedule takes the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Series teams to US 36 Raceway in Missouri on Friday night for the KC Classic before heading further west to Kansas at 81 Speedway for the Tallgrass Tussle on Saturday night. Catch all the action on DIRTVision.
