SHOOTING STARS IN OHIO: ONE FINAL STOP IN THE BUCKEYE STATE YIELDS A SEVENTH PLACE RUN FOR CARSON MACEDO AND THE ALBAUGH #41 TEAM IN THE FEDERATED AUTO PARTS SHOWDOWN AT SHARON SPEEDWAY

HARTFORD, OHIO (September 27, 2025) – After navigating through a challenging night to bring home a 9th place finish at Sheldon Haudenschild’s Buckeye Brawl over at Millstream Speedway on Friday night, Carson Macedo and the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) #41 team continued their travels closer to the East Coast stopping at Sharon Speedway along the way for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series last race in Ohio this season. With the college football season in full swing, the drivers and race teams were happy to provide some additional entertainment options for the diehard sprint car fans in Northeast Ohio. The race scheduled here earlier this season was canceled due to wet grounds, so this would not only be the tour’s last visit but also the first time the World of Outlaws traveling stars would get to race here at Sharon this season. As the fans mingled throughout Merchandise Alley buying their favorite driver’s swag and diecast cars, the teams were busy preparing their 410 racing rockets. With an incredible 54 race teams registered and ready to get after it as they prepared to put on an exciting show for the fans in the Federated Auto Parts Showdown at Sharon Speedway on Saturday night.

With the time trial order set with a loaded pit area, officials split the field into two separate groups for qualifying – Flight A and Flight B. The cars in the first group began pushing off for WEDG High Performance Karts Hot Laps. There would be six separate groups for Hot Laps, three for Flight A and three for Flight B, so each driver could get some exposure to the track before Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. Carson would be in Flight A as he drew the number one pill. He would be the first driver to push out onto the track when it was his turn to lay down his two time trial laps around Sharon’s 3/8-mile oval. He would be joined in two-car qualifying by Creed Kemenah #15K. The one lap record here at Sharon Speedway is owned by none other than Dale Blaney with a lap of 13.179 seconds which was set back in 2017. That would be a high bar to obtain on this night, but each competitor would give it their best shot as they looked to turn the fastest lap they could. Meanwhile, Carson waited for the signal when it was his turn to create some speed as he sat comfortably in his Fibreworks Composite carbon fiber seat with his custom Sharp Advantage seat insert. When Hot Laps concluded, the race official gave the push truck driver the signal to help Carson fire his engine. The Kistler Engines power under the hood came alive as Carson mashed the gas looking to make as much speed as possible without spinning his tires. The Californian was now on the clock moving in fast forward as he made his way around the track. Carson hit all his marks before roaring off turn four and underneath the flagstand to stop the clock on lap one in 14.919 seconds. He kept rolling as he made his way around the first set of turns and down the back straightaway. Carson drove the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/C&R Racing #41 Maxim through the last set of turns before crossing under the checkers the second time in 14.856 seconds. The quicker of his two laps positioned him fifth overall in Flight A when Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying ended. Cole Macedo in the TwoC Racing entry sat at the top of the speed charts after circling Sharon in 14.642 seconds in Flight A. His effort also earned him the Simpson Quick Time Award after Dale Blaney #10 topped Flight B hustling around the oval with his quickest lap coming in at 14.866 seconds.

The starting lineups were now set for the four 8-lap Heat races. When perusing the lineups, Carson would start from the third starting spot on the grid in NOS Energy Drink Heat Race #1. He rolled into row two beside Skylar Gee #99 as the two drivers lined up and were ready for battle behind a pair of deuces, Cole Macedo #2c and David Gravel #2, who were beside each other in the front row. Pacing behind the first two rows were Ashton Torgerson #1A and Hunter Schuerenberg #55 in row three with Brandon Matus #13 and Conner Morrell #28M settled into row four. The final row found Tyler Rankin #17R and Derek Hauck #12J.

Cole Macedo and David Gravel paced slowly towards turn four. When they arrived, it was hammer down time! David Gravel raced off the outside and had a slim lead over Cole Macedo when they passed the flagstand to end the first lap. Carson was running third in the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Scott Boyd Family #41 Maxim with Skylar Gee and Hunter Schuerenberg racing behind him.

David Gravel began pulling away out front opening the stage for the Macedo Brothers to show out as they battled it out like they did when they were kids. Cole had the prized second spot, Carson wanted it. A tussle ensued between the two speed demons. At the halfway point of the race, they were side-by-side at the line with Cole holding the position by the slightest of margins. The younger sibling was not about to give the second spot away and the older one continued to be tenacious. Cole successfully fended off his older brother to maintain the spot and soon distanced himself away from the Carson.

David Gravel raced to the Heat race win by 1.590 seconds ahead of Cole Macedo as those two would advance on to the Toyota Dash. Carson raced home third in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 with Ashton Torgerson and Skylar Gee locking down the remaining two transfer positions out of this qualifying race.

The air horn sounded as the crews for the 24 drivers who made the show, plus an additional 2 drivers who elected to use provisional starting spots to bring the total to 26, finished their work in the final eight minutes before showtime. The cars began to move onto the racing surface ready to fire for the 30-lap Federated Auto Parts Showdown feature. Who was it going to be? There was a lot of talent from the front of the field to the back of the pack. It was time to go racing – World of Outlaws style – at Sharon Speedway!

Cole Macedo lined his TwoC Racing #2c up in the pole position and would lead the field to the green flag along with Michael “Buddy” Kofoid in the Roth Motorsports #83. Just behind them in row two was David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 and Sheldon Haudenschild in the NOS Energy Drink #17 with Dale Blaney #10 and Logan Schuchart in the Drydene/Federated Auto Parts #1s pacing along in row three. Row four was made up of Ryan Turner #15T and Bill Balog #17B.

Carson would get the Albaugh – Your Alternative/FK Rod Ends/Greber Racing Components (GRC) #41 Maxim motoring when the green flag flew from the inside of row five from the ninth starting position. He shared that row with Findlay, Ohio’s Bryce Lucius #32.

After the four-wide salute to the fans it was about to get serious. Off turn four, Cole Macedo mashed the gas to take the point position with Kofoid, Blaney, Gravel, and Haudenschild just behind. Carson was right behind Bill Balog running in ninth when the first lap was completed.

On lap 3, Carson moved up one position as he made his way by Balog before quickly turning his attention towards the tail tank of the #15T of Ryan Turner. He was in stalking mode and closing the gap with each completed lap before taking the lower numbered position away from Turner on lap 9.

Cole Macedo was still at the front of the pack, but hometown favorite Dale Blaney was now running second after moving by Buddy Kofoid. The race leader was weaving through lap traffic and Blaney was getting closer. On lap 11, Dale Blaney moved by Cole Macedo to take the lead as Buddy Kofoid followed him by the TwoC Racing entry into the runner-up position.

Carson was now running in the seventh position trying to reel in Logan Schuchart’s Shark Racing #1s. He would catch him and make the pass for the position on lap 19 at the line, but Schuchart scooted right back by him the next time around with ten laps to go.

On lap 24, the first caution of the race came out for Trey Jacobs #3J who got into the outside wall in turn two directly in front of the leaders. Dale Blaney was still leading but now Buddy Kofoid would be able to cozy up to his rear nerf bar for the single file restart with Sheldon Haudenschild, Cole Macedo, David Gravel, Logan Schuchart, and Carson Macedo falling in line behind the top two.

When the green flag came back out with six laps to go, it was quickly replaced with a red one when Trey Jacobs flipped entering turn one on the restart leaving Garet Williamson nowhere to go as the two made contact. As the remaining drivers waited patiently for the accident scene to be cleared, they were contemplating their end of race strategies for the last 2.25 miles left in the race.

When the yellow lights turned back on around the track the engines started to re-fire. The field was set. The fans were excited as their hometown hero was out front. And the green flag came back out. Dale Blaney maintained his position out front ahead of Kofoid, Haudenschild, Cole Macedo, and Gravel. Carson Macedo passed Logan Schuchart entering turn one on the low side, but Logan stayed focused and reclaim the position again the next time by.

Logan Schuchart carried his speed forward to make his way by Cole Macedo to take over the last spot in the top five. Dale Blaney raced to the popular win, becoming the oldest World of Outlaws winner in history at 61 years old, as he just beat Buddy Kofoid to the finish line with Sheldon Haudenschild coming home third. David Gravel finished fourth with Logan Schuchart completing the top five.

Carson recorded a seventh place finish as he crossed the finish line right behind his brother Cole Macedo who had a strong showing all night at Sharon to finish sixth. Another entertaining night of racing worth the price of admission for Carson and the traveling tour of stars with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. They will be back in action in the Keystone State of Pennsylvania next Friday and Saturday night at Williams Grove Speedway for the 63rd Annual J&S Classics National Open. Do not miss a lap of action. Make plans to come out to the historic track. If you cannot make the trip to Central Pennsylvania though, be sure to tune in on DIRTVision.
