BUCKEYE BRAWLING: CARSON MACEDO WAS UP ON THE WHEEL TO START NIGHT SETTING A NEW TRACK RECORD AT MILLSTREAM BEFORE OVERCOMING A FEW KNOCKOUT BLOWS IN FEATURE TO SALVAGE A 9TH PLACE RUN IN THE FORTY-ONE!
FINDLAY, OHIO (September 26, 2025) – The Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) #41 team made the long trek back across the country after the checkered flag flew at the finale of the Dennis Roth Classic our in California last Saturday night. The team was going coast-to-coast with a stop in Ohio for the weekend starting at Millstream Speedway on Friday night for Sheldon Haudenschild’s Buckeye Brawl presented by NOS Energy Drink. As a talented World of Outlaws competitor and Ohio native, Sheldon was thrilled to host the event in his home state at Millstream Speedway as he welcomed his fellow World of Outlaws competitors back at the track for the first time in 30 years. He was putting $17,000 up for the winner of the race with a promise of great competition. There was a mix of 29 stout race teams combine local racers with the traveling stars parked throughout the pit area ready to take on the challenge at the Buckeye Brawl on Friday night.
The cars began to roll out on the track for the first time in WEDG High Performance Karts Hot Laps. Each of the drivers would get a few laps to acclimate to the track and give their crews some insight into the setup needed to go fast in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. Where they would go out for their two laps against the clock in time trials was determined by random draw earlier in the night during the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw, a valued friend for many years with Sheldon and Zan Haudenschild, as well as their beloved dog Pella. When the time trial order was set, Carson would be the 16th speed entertainer out on the track in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 after pulling the “28” pill during the draw at the World of Outlaws Command Center. He buckled into his Crow Enterprizes safety belts and locked in his JOES Racing Products Matador Steering Wheel. Car Chief Robby McQuinn hopped on the four-wheeler to roll Carson into the staging lane to await his turn. When Cap Henry #33W rolled under the checkered flag to end his session, the Lemoore, California native was ready to get to work. His Kistler Engines power plant came to life as Carson lowered his right foot in a call for power. He was up to speed and raced under the flagstand as the green flag was fluttering in the air. The clock was rolling as he worked through the first set of turns and blasted down the back chute. Carson hustled through turns three and four and stopped the clock on lap one in 13.576 seconds to set a New Track Record (NTR). He stayed on the loud pedal looking for more speed the next time around. Carson hit his marks and was digging off turn four when he saw the checkered flag unveiled. His second attempt came in at 13.676 seconds. The better of his two speed attempts ended the night at the top of the speed charts as he laid down the fastest lap of the night, and history of Millstream, to earn his seventh Simpson Quick Time Award in the 2025 season.

Using each driver’s best lap time in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying, the timing and scoring officials compiled the starting lineups for each of the three 8-lap Heat races. Based on where he ended up in the overall time trial order, Carson would start from the pole position aboard the High Performance Lubricants/Greber Racing Components (GRC)/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim in NOS Energy Drink Heat Race #1. He pulled to the inside of Chris Andrews #15C on the front row as they paced in front of row two starters Skylar Gee #99 and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid #83 and Chris Windom #7s and Emerson Axsom #18. Rolling beside each other in row four were Hunter Schuerenberg #55 and Creed Kemenah #15K with Ricky Peterson #98 and Darin Naida #10RR slowly pacing in row five.
There were six eligible transfer spots available in each Heat race, but the drivers would have to earn them. The yellow lights turned off around the track as the field rolled down the back straightaway. Polesitter Carson Macedo was the first driver to drop the hammer and get up to speed with outside row two starter Buddy Kofoid quickly made a speed statement as he moved into the runner-up spot with Skylar Gee #99 and Chris Andrews trailing at the end of the first circuit.
The qualifying race went non-stop with the Lemoore, California driver chauffeuring the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 out front from start-to-finish as he cruised to a 1.390 second win ahead of Buddy Kofoid. Those to racers would represent Heat #1 in the Dash. Skylar Gee raced home third followed by Chris Andrews, Emerson Axsom #18, and Chris Windom.
When the checkered flag flew over all the qualifying races, there were 18 drivers locked into the feature, but the winners and runner-up drivers would get a shot to assess their luck as they raced for their starting positions in the 6-lap Toyota Dash. After the luck portion of the process, the Dash draw, was over the starting lineup for the race was set. Buddy Kofoid in his Roth Motorsports #83 would be sitting on the pole with Garet Williamson in the Fischer Motorsports #23 sharing row one with him. David Gravel had the Big Game Motorsports #2 sitting third with Logan Schuchart #1s sitting to his outside. Carson Macedo was buckled into the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 and would get his race started from fifth with race host Sheldon Haudenschild in the sixth starting position aboard the NOS Energy Drink #17. The purpose was to race for their starting spot in the A-Main. When the green flag waved Kofoid blasted into the lead ahead of Gravel and Williamson. Carson got shuffled back to sixth. The driver of the eighty-three dominated the short race taking the win over David Gravel by 2.576 seconds. Garet Williamson raced home third with Logan Schuchart securing fourth. Sheldon Haudenschild held the fifth position with Carson locked into the sixth and final spot.

The cars began to roll onto the track to stage for Sheldon Haudenschild’s Buckeye Brawl presented by NOS Energy Drink 30-lap, $17,000-to-win sprint car spectacular at Millstream Speedway. Carson and the team were hoping to carry some of their speed from early in the night and the lessons learned in the Dash into the money paying race. Carson would begin his race to the checkers from the sixth starting position in row three beside Sheldon Haudenschild in the NOS Energy Drink #17. Buddy Kofoid and David Gravel earned the right to start from the front row based off their finish in the Toyota Dash. Behind them were two talented young guns Garet Williamson and Logan Schuchart in row two with Sheldon Haudenschild and Carson Macedo side-by-side in row three. Skylar Gee #99 and Kerry Madsen #15 were pacing together in row four with Cap Henry #33W and Chris Andrews #15C together in row five.
It was time to get busy, World of Outlaws style, at Millstream Speedway in front of a packed house in the Buckeye State of Ohio. The fans in the stands were now on the edge of their seats. The crews perched atop their mules for the best views of the entire track. And the drivers securely buckled into their seats peering out the shields of their helmets. The green flag dropped with Michael “Buddy” Kofoid quickly moving to the front with David Gravel chasing his rear nerf bar.
Carson was wheeling and dealing from the sixth position when the yellow flag came out with two laps in the books as he was dueling with Haudenschild out on the track. They would reset in the double file restart order with 28 laps to go. Kofoid and Gravel brought theses warriors back up to speed with Carson using the outside row three restart to build speed down the front straightaway. Entering turn one he went to the bottom and exited turn two in third ahead of Schuchart and Haudenschild. The race was on.
On lap 10, David Gravel moved by the Roth Motorsports #83 to claim the lead as Carson began to close in on the leaders. At the halfway point of the race, it was Gravel, Kofoid, Macedo, Schuchart, and Haudenschild. Two laps later the first knockout punch was thrown when Carson came to a stop with a shredded right rear tire running in the show position. Skylar Gee also slowed to a stop on the track. With no guaranteed time of the clock, Carson headed to the Federated Car Care Work Zone and the team put a new Hoosier Racing Tire enabling him to rejoin the field.
David Gravel stood back on the gas and the race was back on with 13 laps to go. Buddy Kofoid paced behind him with Garet Williamson roaring into third with Logan Schuchart and Kasey Jedrzejek rounding out the top five. Carson rejoined the field at the back of the lead lap cars and was racing back up in the eleventh position with the engines roaring.
On lap 19, the red flag came out for Carson Macedo and Kerry Madsen who were racing hard together after the forty-one got into Madsen ending with both cars laying on their side in turn four. Second knockout punch delivered. Carson rolled back into the Federated Car Care Work Zone for the second time as Philip, Robby, and Adam, with appreciated help from some other race teams, went to work attempting to get Carson back out to finish the race. They were successful as the forty-one fired and rejoined the field.
With 11 laps to go the green flag was waving again. Gravel was leading Kofoid again with Logan Schuchart reclaiming third. Carson was on the move and was back up to 13th place. The next time around he cleanly moved by Ricky Peterson, Hunter Schuerenberg, and Cap Henry and was now running in the last spot in the top ten with 10 laps to go.
The final race slowdown of the night occurred on lap 22 when Cap Henry was off the pace on the backstretch. It would be an eight lap dash to the finish for the remaining competitors with Carson restarting tenth behind Donny Schatz and Bill Balog. The green was back out with David Gravel in “lock down” and “lock in” mode. The defending champion and series’ point leader led the remaining laps to take the win over Kofoid and Schuchart with Williamson and Jedrzejek rounding out the top five.
Carson moved by Donny Schatz’s Sides Motorsports/JVI Group #15 on the last lap to finish ninth enduring the brawl to earn the Smith Titanium Brake Systems Break of the Race recognition. A character building night for sure as the team will turn their attention to the Federated Auto Parts Showdown on Saturday night at Sharon Speedway.
