SWEEPING TRUIMPH AT JACKSON: THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS SPRINT CAR SERIES STARS STAYED IN MINNESOTA ON SATURDAY AT THE JACKSON MOTORPLEX WHERE CARSON MACEDO WALKS AWAY WITH THE VICTORY IN THE “JACKSON SHOWDOWN”

JACKSON, MINNESOTA (August 16, 2025) – After pulling the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 to the back of the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) trailer covered in confetti at Ogilvie Raceway following his victory in the Big O Showdown, Carson and the team headed south/southwest four hours to the beautiful Jackson Motorplex. Carson and the JJR #41 team have enjoyed quite a bit of success together here in the past with five wins together including their victory here back in early June at the FENDT Showdown to make it three of the last four races at Jackson where their night ended in victory lane. The team was back at the track looking to continue their success and good results here in “The Gopher State” of Minnesota. The last win here marked Jason Johnson Racing’s 75th World of Outlaws victory since the team formed in 2010. Since then, the team has added four more to that win total up to this point of the season. Celebrating a win on this night would not be easy though with 32 tough competitive 410 sprint car teams signed into the pit area ready to fend Carson and the JJR #41 team off and take home the winner’s share of the purse in the Jackson Showdown presented by FENDT. It was race day – World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series style – in Minnesota at the Jackson Motorplex!

After everyone got a few laps at speed in WEDG High Performance Karts Hot Laps, it was time to combine speed and precision for each driver as time trials began in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. Emerson Axsom in the KCP Racing #18 would be the first driver out on the track to take his speed test. He set the mark at 13.178 seconds to start the session. Carson would be the 14th driver in line and was ready to make speed. When it was his turn, he cinched down his Crow Enterprizes safety belts one last time and was ready to shine behind the wheel of the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Walker Performance Filtration/Smiley’s Racing Products #41 Maxim. Carson powered up and was rolling when he started the numbers on the stopwatch measuring his performance during his first lap. He was flying and recorded a very good initial lap in 13.003 seconds. He maintained his momentum and chugged around the Jackson Motorplex surface one last time hoping to lower his time throughout his second attempt. Carson blasted off turn four and this time tripped the timing light in 13.085 seconds. The better of his two time trial laps was his first circuit which ended up third quick overall when qualifying was over. Logan Schuchart in the Shark Racing #1s earned the Simpson Quick Time Award laying down the only lap in the twelve second bracket crossing the line in 12.974 seconds.

After a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by Stevie Grace during opening ceremonies it was time for the running of the four 8-lap Heat races. The lineups were compiled based on each of the driver’s best qualifying lap in time trials, putting Carson on the pole of WIX Filters Heat Race #3 with Michael “Buddy” Kofoid to his outside aboard the Roth Enterprises Mobil 1/Toyota TRD #83. Behind the two Californians on the front row was Gage Pulkrabek #G5 and Conner Morrell #28M in row two with Scott Broty #33 and Scott Winters #23W in the third row. The fourth and final row featured Riley Goodno #16 and Blaine Stegenga #96 poised and ready to roll.

Carson timed in third overall piloting the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Prime Composites Innovations/Bell Helmets #41 Maxim and was ready to get motoring from the inside of row one in the third Heat race. The field was lined up succinctly in perfect two-by-two formation as they paced towards turn four. When the front row starters arrived at the chalk stripe, they did not waste any time accelerating up to speed. Carson jumped into the early race lead ahead of Buddy Kofoid, Conner Morrell, Gage Pulkrabek, and Scott Winters.

He raced off turn four and under the flagstand, but the red flag came out for Scott Winters who was dicing with Conner Morrell entering turn three. Winters bicycled on entry and got up over the cushion sending him straight into the turn four wall where he tipped over.

The red flag negated the initial start as the field realigned for a complete restart. This time Buddy Kofoid fired up simultaneously with Carson as they were side by side heading into turn one with the track surface still fast and narrow. Kofoid ducked down as the two drivers almost made contact to take the lead. Carson lifted his left foot off the brake and was eagerly pursuing the Roth Motorsports #83 from the runner-up position.

Carson was able to tighten the gap between himself and the race leader lap after lap, but Buddy Kofoid led from start to finish as he raced to the win by 0.778 seconds over Carson Macedo in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 who came home in the runner-up position as Conner Morrell, Gage Pulkrabek, and Riley Goodno rounded out the top five. The top two finishers in each Heat race advanced into the Toyota Dash where they would race for their starting spot in the A-Main feature with the third place through fifth place finishers earning automatic transfer positions in the money paying race.

The drivers would draw their numbers for the 6-lap Toyota Dash where they race to determine where they would start the A-Main feature. When the oversized NOS Energy Drink can was empty the starting lineup for the Dash would showcase Bill Balog #17B and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid #83 on the front row with Carson Macedo #41 and Emerson Axsom #18 in row two. Row three found David Gravel #2 and Logan Schuchart #1s with Garet Williamson #23 and Donny Schatz #15 in row four. When the drivers strapped in and hit the track Bill Balog hustled into the lead from the drop of the green flag. Entering the initial corner, Balog drifted high slightly pushing Kofoid up a bit on the track leaving the bottom lane wide open for Carson Macedo. The driver of the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 took advantage and pulled right beside the race leader driving the Anderson Pure Maple Syrup/Honest Abe Roofing #17B. Balog would drive off turn two to claim the top spot with Macedo settling into the second position followed by Kofoid, Axsom, and Gravel at the end of the first circuit. The running order in the Dash would not change after the early position swapping with Balog taking the win by 1.362 seconds over Carson Macedo. Buddy Kofoid came home in third with Axsom, Gravel, Schuchart, Williamson, and Schatz completing the finishing order.

The lineup was set for the 30-lap World of Outlaws Jackson Showdown presented by FENDT A-Main. It would feature Bill Balog #17B on the pole with Carson Macedo #41 to his outside following the completion of the Toyota Dash. Michael “Buddy” Kofoid #83 and Emerson Axsom #18 rolled in behind in row two with David Gravel #2 and Logan Schuchart #1s side-by-side in row three. Row four was made up of Garet Williamson #23 and Donny Schatz #15 with Cole Macedo #2c and Sheldon Haudenschild #17 in row five.

Philip Dietz finished up some last minute work along with Robby McQuinn and Adam Zimmerman before pushing their driver back away from the trailer door. Carson sat patiently on the track while Johnny Gibson finished up reciting the 24 car starting lineup over the public address system for the fans in the stands and those tuning in on DIRTVision. When he was done it was time to go racing at the beautiful Jackson Motorplex!

The engines began to fire one by one as the drivers rolled around the well-prepared 4/10-mile Jackson Motorplex. Then they did the World of Outlaws version of a curtsey to the crowd for coming out to see the best in the business do their thing in Minnesota in front of these wonderful fans. The drivers raced back into their starting positions as the yellow lights were turned off in anticipation of the waving green flag.

The green flag was waving off turn four. Carson was in sync with the polesitter as they stomped on the throttle. Macedo charged into the early race lead with Balog tucking in behind in second place. After the first lap was completed, Carson was scored as your race leader racing the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Ben Cook Race Car Products/CS Productions #41 speeding in front of Bill Balog and Buddy Kofoid as they dueled for position.

By lap 5 the leader was in slower traffic with Balog and Kofoid closing. Logan Schuchart was also on the move as he gained two positions and was running in the fourth spot with Emerson Axsom rounding out the early top five. A lap later the yellow flag came out for Gage Pulkrabek #G5 who slowed out on the racing surface.

Carson chose the inside lane for the restart with Bill Balog to his outside. Carson Macedo lowered his right foot to summon his Kistler Engines power to get to work as he raced back into the top spot with Balog still in chase mode. Logan Schuchart raced by Kofoid to seize control of the show position with David Gravel moving into the fifth position as he moved by Emerson Axsom.

Carson Macedo had the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 cruising out front again. At the halfway point of the race, it was Macedo, Balog, Schuchart, Kofoid, and Gravel showing the way in the Jackson Showdown. The driver of the Shark Racing #1s from Hanover, Pennsylvania was bad fast, and three laps later passed Bill Balog for the runner-up position. Schuchart was working the bottom to perfection through lap cars and closing in on Carson for the race lead. Macedo’s lead shrunk to less than a half of a second with ten laps to go.

Logan Schuchart was fast and able to get close enough to see inside Macedo’s cockpit, but the driver of the forty-one stayed focused as he raced through lap traffic. He put a slower car between himself and Schuchart to widen the gap temporarily, but Schuchart was determined. When the white flag flew, Carson had a one second lead with 4/10 of a mile between him and the win. He did not stumble or falter as he raced to his 9th World of Outlaws (WoO) win of the season, tenth overall win including his High Limit Series win in the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville in July, with Logan Schuchart coming home second and Bill Balog third. Buddy Kofoid and David Gravel completed the top five at the Jackson Showdown.

Carson led all 30 laps from the drop of the green to the waving of the checkers to sweep this weekend in Minnesota after leading 19 laps on Friday night to win the Big O Showdown at Ogilvie Raceway. He has led 261 laps this season against the best in the business and won nine races. With confetti covering the Albaugh -Your Alternative/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Tarlton and Son #41 Maxim in victory lane, Carson came around the front of the car to chart with Conner Wade. Smiling he explained, “The pace was really fast. You’re not wide open but nearly. I feel like you get wide open, and you spin a little more. Our racecar is incredible here.” He continued, “JJR and Philip Dietz, he’s just incredible to work with. He’s a hell of a mechanic, and he’s got the state of Minnesota figured out. I think he’s got most places figured out but especially here.” With his spirits still brimming over sweeping the weekend through the state of Minnesota, Carson said, “I feel like we’re just always exceptionally good here. Robby McQuinn and Adam Zimmerman are working really hard. It takes a team effort to make this all happen.”

The win was Carson Macedo’s 56th World of Outlaws victory of his young career (and 50th since joining Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) in 2021). It was also JJR’s 80th overall World of Outlaws win since being formed back in 2010. Another great run for Carson Macedo and the forty-one!

Carson and the JJR #41 team look to stay hot at their next race on Tuesday night at Mississippi Thunder Speedway over in Fountain City, Wisconsin for a little midweek Mississippi Thunder Showdown. If your plans do not have you taking in all the action live at the venue, be sure to tune into DIRTVision so you do not miss any of the action.
