ALL-OUT AT ATTICA: THIS BUSY WEEK OF RACING STARTED AT ATTICA RACEWAY PARK ON TUESDAY NIGHT IN THE 37TH ANNUAL OHIO LOGISTICS BRAD DOTY CLASSIC WHERE CARSON MACEDO POWERED HIS KISTLER ENGINES #41 INTO VICTORY LANE

ATTICA, OHIO (July 15, 2025) – The busy stretch of eight races over the course of ten calendar days continued for Carson Macedo and the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) team at Attica Raceway Park on Tuesday night for the 37th Annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by DAC Vitamins and Minerals. This race was JJR’s 41st race of the 2025 season. After the checkered flag flew at Wilmot Raceway on Saturday night, where Carson raced the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 home to a third place finish in the Larry Hillerud Memorial Badger 40, his third consecutive podium run, the team was eastbound and down heading towards Ohio. Monday night they were spectators to see Cole Macedo drive the TwoC Racing entry to his first national touring series win in spectacular fashion at the Kubota High Limit Series race at nearby Fremont Speedway. Congratulations to Cole and the TwoC Racing team on their first national touring series win!

The Brad Doty Classic is one of those special races on the schedule each year that recognizes and honors truly one of the best people the sport of sprint car racing has to offer – former World of Outlaws star Brad Doty from Apple Creek, Ohio. Brad was injured in a racing accident during competition at Eldora Speedway back in 1988. Since that time, he continues to be an unwavering ambassador for the sport and promotes this “racers race” each year. There was an incredible field of competitors on hand with 45 race teams entered for a chance to win this prestigious race, as well as the purse, helmet, and trophy that goes to the victor. It was race day in the Buckeye State to honor a true hero from Ohio who made his mark in the sport driving the Bowers Coal #28D, Coors Light #18, Kodiak #18, and Stanton #75 cars for many years on the tour. It was race day at Attica Raceway Park – World of Outlaws style!

With the large field of cars on hand to compete for the trophy, the drivers split into two separate qualifying groups, Flight 1 and Flight 2, for time trials in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. The qualifying group, as well as the order in which they would go out for their two laps, was determined by the numbered pill they selected at the World of Outlaws Command Center in the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw. When scanning through the qualifying group lineups, the forty-one of Carson Macedo was slated to go out tenth in Flight 2 for his solo speed performance racing against the clock. He climbed into his office and buckled into his Crow Enterprizes safety belts. As he sat in the staging area off turn four awaiting his turn to be pushed onto the track, Carson finalized his speed strategy to get around this one-third mile, high-banked bullring with no outside walls. Kyle Larson joined him out on the track in the Finley Farms/Folken Bros. Trucking #57 for their two laps. The World of Outlaws official pit side signaled to Kyle and Carson that it was now their turn to let it all hang out. The engine came to life in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Wilwood Racing/Pro Powder Coating (PPC) #41 Maxim. They came up over the banking in turn four and pounded the loud pedal down the frontstretch. This place is a smaller dirt speed plant, but it is extremely demanding for the drivers’ skills and courage. Even the smallest mistakes when measured show up big on the clock. Carson was up to the task and finished his first attempt in 12.266 seconds. There was no rest for the weary as he was already immersed in the speed experience during his second lap. With no more chances left, he was looking for a better time on the clock. This time when he darted by the flagstand the time recorded for his second lap was 12.400 seconds. The better of his two laps was fourth quick overall in Flight 2. The fastest driver in the second Flight was David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 with a lap of 12.219 seconds. Gravel was also quickest overall timewise to earn the Simpson Quick Time Award. Michael “Buddy” Kofoid in the Roth Motorsports #83, with a lap of 12.253 seconds, was the quickest driver in the other qualifying group, Flight 1.

There would be four 10-lap Heat races with five transfer positions up for grabs in each race. Carson would be in The Greatest Store on Dirt Heat Race #4 presented by Kistler Racing Products where he would start from the second starting position beside Kyle Larson in the JVI Group/HendrickCars.com #57 on the front row. Darin Naida #7N and Joel Myers Jr. #19H were situated behind in row two. Larry Kingseed Jr. #21K and D.J. Foos #16 were side-by-side in row three with Jordan Ryan #25R and Brock Zearfoss in #3z pacing in row four. Donny Schatz #15 was rolling alongside Skylar Gee #99 in row five with Kody Brewer #5 alone in sow six.

Carson was slowly rolling around Attica Raceway Park in the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Durst Inc./Winters Performance Products #41 Maxim anticipating the start of the race. His determined eyes peered through the shield of his Bell Helmet anticipating the heated competition ahead. The two Californians on the front row got things started when the green lights turned on and the flagman gave them the go ahead to drop the hammer. Naturally, their twitch reflexes kicked in immediately as their right feet knew exactly what do pressing down on the gas pedal while preparing to turn left.

On the initial start it was determined that Carson jumped too soon, and he was docked two starting spots. He would now start on the outside of row two for the restart. They would try again with Kyle Larson driving into the early lead as the cars fanned out behind him looking to steal track position early. Carson weaved his way from the outside to the inside entering turn one moving by both Darin Naida and Joel Myers Jr. to take over the runner-up position behind Larson.

On lap 2, the red flag came out for seventh running Jordan Ryan when there was contact with Brock Zearfoss sending Ryan into a wicked series of flips. Kyle Larson elected to restart from the inside lane with Carson Macedo pulling the Albaugh #41 to the outside of row one. Larson reclaimed the lead over Macedo when they got back up to speed with Naida, Myers Jr., and Donny Schatz moving into the fifth position from his ninth starting spot.

The race slowed again on lap 4, for Larry Kingseed Jr. who had front end issues on the backstretch after contact with another competitor the lap before. Kyle Larson would again get the field up to speed with Carson Macedo following in his tracks. The track began to change. Larson took advantage of it and extended his lead lap after lap. Those precious laps were soon gone when the white flag flew over to the field.

The next time by the checkered flag was out waving over Kyle Larson who took the win by 2.866 seconds ahead of Carson Macedo who crossed the line second. Both of those drivers would advance into the Toyota Dash. Picking up the final three transfer positions were Darin Naida, Donny Schatz, and Joel Myers Jr.

Those drivers that earned a spot in the 8-lap Toyota Dash headed over to the frontstretch to draw for their starting spots. Starting on the pole was Kyle Larson #57 with Buddy Kofoid #83 to his outside. The third starter was Sheldon Haudenschild #17 with Cole Macedo #2c pacing with him in row two. Pennsylvanian Logan Schuchart #1s and Californian Carson Macedo #41 rolled in row three with Zane DeVault #4 and David Gravel #2 trailing in row four. When the green flag waved it was Kyle Larson quickly racing off in first with Buddy Kofoid and Cole Macedo battling it out for the second spot. That duel continued for multiple laps with each driver exchanging the position before Kofoid claimed it for himself. Carson was battling from the eighth spot look to figure things out so they could make some adjustments for the feature. Kyle Larson raced to the win to earn the pole position in the feature with Buddy Kofoid coming home second as Sheldon Haudenschild, Cole Macedo, and Zane DeVault completed the top five. Logan Schuchart raced home sixth, David Gravel seventh, with Carson coming across the finish line eighth.

The eight-minute horn blared audibly throughout the pit area off turns three and four as the twenty-four locked in teams finished their prep work for the upcoming 40-lap 37th Annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by DAC Vitamins and Minerals feature. One driver elected to use provisional starting spots to tag the rear of the field. The Albaugh -Your Alternative/K1 Race Gear/Smiley’s Racing Products #41 Maxim with Carson behind the wheel pulled into the eighth starting position in row four with David Gravel #2 to his inside. Zane DeVault #4 and Logan Schuchart #1s were directly in front of them in row three.

Front row starters Kyle Larson #57 and Buddy Kofoid #83 made room for the drivers in row two, Sheldon Haudenschild #17 and Cole Macedo #2c, to pull their speed machines up in between them as every row behind them did the same as the field went four-wide to salute all these great fans in attendance. What a sight. What a race to honor the man – Brad Doty. It was showtime at Attica Raceway Park for the Doty Classic!

The drivers raced back into the traditional two-by-two starting formation as the yellow lights turned off in anticipation of a color change to green. Off turn four the race would begin with the waving of the green flag. Polesitter Kyle Larson quickly got up to speed in a sprint down to turn one with Buddy Kofoid staying right with him on entry.

There are no walls around these turns and these athletes test the limits around the lip each lap while others choose to hug the bottom or try the lanes in the middle. Kofoid used that line to drive into the lead off turn two leading the first circuit ahead of Larson and Haudenschild.

Carson had a big first lap charging from his outside row four starting position into the fifth spot behind Cole Macedo who was holding down the fourth position. The two siblings were in an “all-out” battle lap after lap for the higher position throughout the next twelve laps with Logan Schuchart using the opportunity to join the battle.

On lap 16, Buddy Kofoid was still out in front of Sheldon Haudenschild who worked by Kyle Larson. Cole Macedo was running fourth with Logan Schuchart moving by the forty-one into the top five. Carson had his hands full now will the hard0-charging Bill Balog who moved by him the next time around.

Carson was now running in the seventh position with the defending World of Outlaws champion, David Gravel, right behind him applying pressure. The Lemoore, California speedster refocused and moved up to sixth place just after the halfway point of the race when he moved by Cole in the TwoC Racing entry. He continued his forward march as he passed Bill Balog to re-enter the top five on lap 23.

The next time around, lap 24, the first race slow down occurred when the yellow flag came out for Zeth Sabo #29 who was off the pace coming to a stop outside the banking in turn three. Bill Balog also headed to the work area as his crew went to work on the Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup #17. Balog rejoined the field after repairs were made in the work area.

Carson would restart fifth behind race leader Buddy Kofoid, Sheldon Haudenschild, Kyle Larson, and Logan Schuchart. When the green lights came back on, he used the inside lane to drive low into turn one and off turn two it was a three car battle for the show position with Carson low, Schuchart in the middle, and Larson navigating around the high side. Carson lurched into third entering turn three with Kofoid still out in front of Haudenschild as he looked through his rock screen off turn four.

On lap 26, the red flag came out when Bill Balog and Cap Henry made contact in turn three sending both flipping to end their night. The engines silenced during this period as the drivers used the break to take a breath while evaluating their race plan.

It would be a double file restart with Kofoid and Haudenschild up front and Macedo and Schuchart in row two. Back on the throttle with 14 laps to go, the driver of the Roth Motorsports #83 reclaimed the lead over Haudenschild as Schuchart used the restart to move into third. Carson was running fourth and moved back under Schuchart the next time by to take the third position back, but Kyle Larson was letting it rip around the top.

Larson moved his Finley Farms #57 by both Schuchart and Macedo into third before getting up over the cushion in turn two relinquishing the show position back to Macedo with Schuchart and Gravel also squeezing by to each move up one spot in the running order with nine laps to go.

On lap 32, Sheldon Haudenschild moved by Buddy Kofoid into the lead, but Kofoid raced back by. The racing was tight and fast. Kofoid got up over the cushion in turn four and spun out without stopping enabling Haudenschild and Macedo by before blending back in just ahead of Donny Schatz. The yellow flag was thrown as the field regrouped for the final laps.

Sheldon Haudenschild powered up his NOS Energy Drink #17 with Carson stepping on the gas too in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 to get the race started again. It would be a sprint to the finish! Donny Schatz, who started 16th in the field, moved by Kofoid into the third position as the ten-time champion’s talent was on full display at Attica Raceway Park. David Gravel was running fifth.

The top five were throttle down and just letting it all hang out as they put on a show the World of Outlaws way. Sheldon was in control about one second ahead of Carson who had about the same distance between himself and the third running Kofoid who passed Schatz for third on the restart.

On lap 36, Sheldon caught the cushion in turn four while leading the race and spun to a stop. Carson inherited the race lead with four laps to go. He was poised and focused. He led the field off turn four and showcased his Kistler Engines power as he quickly put some space between himself and Kofoid. The talented Penngrove, California driver was not going anywhere though as he was chasing the leader like a hungry lion. He peaked underneath Carson entering turn three, but Macedo powered off turn four in control.

Carson led the remaining distance in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 to win the 37th Annual Brad Doty Classic crossing the finish line ahead of Buddy Kofoid and Donny Schatz with Logan Schuchart and Kyle Larson rounding out the top five! The win at Attica Raceway Park was the JJR #41 team’s sixth win of the 2025 racing season and 53rd World of Outlaws victory for Carson Macedo. After that wild feature, Carson reflected and shared his perspective from victory lane regarding the latter stages of the race, “I really felt like I was running pretty hard on the top, about as hard as I could and maybe even overdriving it.” He continued, “But Sheldon was driving like four times harder than me, so I actually backed it down thinking maybe something would happen. He almost got over the edge one time in turns one and two. Then he ended up getting over the curb. I mean, it was no fault of his own. He was doing a great job, just really tricky and treacherous and easy to get over it. It was kind of marbly really, and that’s why guys were able to slide and almost clear you.” He then turned his attention to his Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) teammates. “Hats off to Philip Dietz, Adam Zimmerman, and Robby McQuinn. We changed a few things tonight that we thought might be a little better, and I think it definitely seemed to be really good there. I was able to get my wing back and get squeezed back in the track late in the race. Hats off to them. Just a cool race to win.” Cool indeed. A great run for Macedo and the forty one!
