PREPARED TO FIGHT: THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS (WoO) ARRIVED AT LINCOLN SPEEDWAY ON WEDNESDAY TO BATTLE AGAINST THE PENNSYLVANIA POSSE FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING THE 2025 SEASON IN THE GETTYSBURG CLASH
ABBOTTSTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA (May 7, 2025) – After rained washed out the second night of the #LetsRaceTwo event at Eldora Speedway on Saturday night, Carson Macedo, and the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) #41 team, were eastbound and down Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) style. Their destination was the Keystone State of Pennsylvania for the first visit of the 2025 racing season for the team and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series’ competitors. This area of the country has historically been a consistent breeding ground for developing top notch sprint car talent capable of putting up a formidable fight for the checkers when the members of the traveling tour with the World of Outlaws (WoO) come to town. In fact, many of Pennsylvania’s best have gone on to have successful careers on the WoO tour – Bobby Allen, Stevie Smith, and currently Logan Schuchart to name ja few. But not unlike the Civil War back on July 1st through July 3rd in 1863, both sides of this spirited, but friendly, fight are always determined to fiercely battle to the very end. The goal is simply to win and beat the other side. Why not as there was $12,000 awaiting the winner not to mention the pride factor. After Mother Nature delayed the event by one day, the pit area on Wednesday night at Lincoln Speedway for the Gettysburg Clash featured 45 teams looking to end the night in victory lane.
To have a legitimate shot of winning this race it all starts in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. The lineup that determined where each driver would go out to lay down their two laps in a race against time would be determined at the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw when they arrived at the track. Making speed during this timed session is paramount because each driver’s best time is used to assign them into a starting position in one of the Heat races later in the evening. The Boltz Family/Winters Performance Products/Ben Cook Race Car Products #41 Maxim with Carson Macedo behind the wheel would be the sixth entry out on the track in Flight #1. He rolled up onto the track’s racing surface in turn three and lowered his right K1 Race Gear boot on the gas pedal. He had to get up to speed quickly because the green flag was waving on the video screen mounted to the flagstand when he exited turn four. Carson entered turn one low and blasted off turn two. He carried a full head of steam down the back straightaway before making his way through the last set of turns on the low side. The clock captured his lap one time in 13.592 seconds. Carson continued his speed mission around Lincoln Speedway’s three-eighths mile oval. He was looking to carve time off his first attempt if possible. He hit his marks and drove the forty-one across the finish line to end lap two in 13.934 seconds. His best lap was the first one ended the night tenth quick overall when the last qualifier finished his laps. Earning the Simpson Quick Time Award to open the Gettysburg Clash was Chase Dietz chauffeuring the Stehman Motorsports #23 recording the fastest lap of the night at 13.344 seconds. The fastest driver out of Flight #2 was Skylar Gee #99 at 13.521 seconds.

It did not take long before the World of Outlaws Timing and Scoring officials to pull together the starting grids for each of the four 8-lap Heat races. When officials compiled and posted the lineups, Carson was slated to begin from the fifth starting position in Real American Beer Heat #2. The Kistler Racing Engines power was rumbling as the California native paced slowly around the Pigeon Hills facility. He pulled to the inside of Conner Morrell #28M in row three ready for a full out assault of speed. Pennsylvania natives Lucas Wolfe #5W and Danny Dietrich #48 paced from row one with Cole Macedo #2c and Kody Hartlaub #95 in row two. Ashton Torgerson #1a and Brock Zearfoss #3z were rolling in row four with JJ Loss #67, Chris Arnold #23A, and Ryan Newton #66 following in the rows behind.
Buckled in and ready to go the yellow lights dimmed around the track. Off turn four the green flag displayed as the eleven cars all raced quickly towards turn one looking to find the fastest way around Lincoln Speedway. Danny Dietrich led the opening circuit ahead of Lucas Wolfe with nine laps remaining.
Carson had gained one spot and was wheeling the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Border International/Schoenfeld Headers #41 from the fourth position behind his brother Cole and looking for more. He ducked under the driver of the TwoC Racing entry the next time by to gain the show position at the end of lap two.
Carson had his sights set on Lucas Wolfe as the PA Posse member had the final Dash transfer spot and the Californian wanted it. During the middle stages of the races, Carson was able to close the gap with the #5w now clearly within striking distance. He Looked high and low for the best attack lane with two laps to go with no clear opening.
Carson continued to pursue Wolfe vigorously. Entering turn three he ripped the high side and pulled right beside Wolfe exiting turn four in a race to the finish line to see who would finish second. Wolfe eked out Carson’s run to finished in second place behind Danny Dietrich. Carson was able to secure third place with Cole Macedo strutting home in the fourth spot as Kody Hartlaub locked down the fifth and final transfer position.

The only race left on the schedule of events was the 35-lap Gettysburg Clash feature. This is the race that matters because in this meritocracy sport the amount of money you win, as well as the quantity of points you receive, align to where the car finishes. After winning the Toyota Dash, Buddy Kofoid in the Roth Motorsports #83 would start on the pole with current series’ point leader David Gravel in the Big Game Motorsports #2 just to his outside on the front row. Following in row two was Skylar Gee #99 and Danny Dietrich representing the PA Posse. Lucas Wolfe and Chase Dietz lined up in row three with Anthony Macri #39M and Giovanni Scelzi #18 in row four.
Carson would get this Wednesday night tussle started aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Scott Boyd Family/CASM Safety Products #41 Maxim from the eleventh starting position. He shared row six with fellow World of Outlaws competitor, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild in the NOS Energy Drink #17, and both were eager to go racing at Lincoln Speedway.
When the traditional pre-race pomp and circumstances concluded the field of highly competitive racers sped back into the two-by-two starting formation. They were nose-to-tail going down the backstretch. Off turn four the sweet sound of 410 sprint car engines filled the air adding the ambiance of World of Outlaws racing in the Pigeon Hills. Buddy Kofoid was the first car off turn four. He was your race leader at the end of lap one with David Gravel, Skylar Gee, Chase Dietz, and Danny Dietrich following close behind to complete the top five with thirty-four more laps to go.
Carson was scored in 13th place after the first lap as there was a gaggle of cars racing neck and neck at the point of the pack. He would lose another position on the scoreboard the next time around locking him into the 14th position. This is an all-out battle so as you can imagine there is never a lap where drivers are not fighting each other for track position.
On lap 4, the first caution flag came out when Bill Balog #17B and Ryan Smith #69k tangled and spun in turn three. Buddy Kofoid would bring the cars back up to speed with Chase Dietz working by David Gravel for second place. Carson used the pause to reset his gameplan and drove into tenth place with five laps in the books.
That same lap, another caution occurred for a multi-car incident up in turn one involving Freddie Rahmer #51, Lucas Wolfe #5w, and Cole Macedo #2c after contact in front of them sent them scattering and spinning. Kofoid again led the talented field when they went back to green flag racing with Dietz, Gee, Gravel, and Scelzi trying to keep pace with the leader.
Carson moved into ninth place as he passed Danny Dietrich. He was hard at work trying to drive the Albaugh #41 by Hunter Schuerenberg #55 on lap 7 when the third yellow flag of the night came out for Danny Dietrich who had a deflated right rear tire. He headed to the work area and rejoined the field.
They were back on the gas with twenty-eight laps to go with Kofoid sailing out front in the clean air. Carson moved by Schuerenberg into the eighth spot with Giovanni Scelzi and Sheldon Haudenschild just ahead of his rock screen. It took a few laps for the passing lanes to open, but on lap 21 Carson seized the seventh position after spotting an opening to move by Scelzi.
With the laps beginning to wind down, Carson was now trying to track down the blue and orange NOS Energy Drink #17. Buddy Kofoid was out front navigating his way through the slower cars with five laps to go. That gave Chase Dietz some optimism as he was closing in quickly on the leader with Anthony Macri running third, David Gravel fourth, and Sheldon Haudenschild in fifth.
Carson was inching closer to Haudenschild who in turn was closing the gap between himself and Gravel when the white flag displayed. Buddy Kofoid led wire-to-wire to capture the Gettysburg Clash victory crossing the finish line 0.740 seconds ahead of Chase Dietz with Anthony Macri coming home third. David Gravel and Sheldon Haudenschild rounded out the top five with Carson Macedo charging to a sixth-place finish. Another good run for Macedo and the forty-one!
