QUARTER-MILE CRUISING: CARSON MACEDO WAS WHEELIN’ AND DEALIN’ AT THE SPRING CLASSIC FINALE AT I-55 FEDERATED AUTO PARTS RACEWAY PARK DRIVING THE SCOTT BOYD FAMILY #41 MAXIM TO A RUNNER-UP FINISH
PEVELY, MISSOURI (April 12, 2025) – Carson Macedo and the Jason Johnson Racing (JJR) #41 crew were looking to continue their assault on I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park in the Spring Classic on Saturday night. After battling on Friday night in some amazing racing to secure his second win of the 2025 World of Outlaws season to open the two-day event at this entertaining bullring, Carson and the team were more determined than ever to show up and show out performance wise again in the “Show Me” state of Missouri in the finale. The skies overhead were filled with warm colors and sun as track officials and staff welcomed the fans back for another night of entertainment with the stars of The Greatest Show on Dirt. The World of Outlaws Platinum Gang was joined by an impressive group of race teams from far and wide that normally do not run with the series on a regular basis. There was a grand total of sixty cars registered to race in Pevely, all prepared to chase the winner’s share of the check in the finale of the Spring Classic.
Teams had drawn a number in the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw to determine when their driver would go out for two laps in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying. When the numbered pills were ordered from lowest to highest, Carson would be the eighth speedster to hit the incredible quarter-mile, bullring racetrack for his speed attempts in Flight 2 aboard the Tarlton and Son/Team Jack Foundation/KSE Racing Products #41 Maxim. He pulled down on his Crow Enterprizes safety belts to tighten them one last time before getting assistance from the push truck to fire his engine. The Californian rolled up onto the banking in turn two and got up to speed as he ripped off turn four towards the flag stand. It sure does not take long to get around the oval here at Pevely, so any bobble has an expense when it comes to the clock costing the driver valuable time. Carson blasted the forty-one off turn four again to complete his first lap in 10.590 seconds. Head down, he continued to muscle his way around the bad ass bullring again trying to eat up hundredths of a second wherever possible. This time when he raced by the flag stand the checkered flag was out as he stopped the clock at 10.466 seconds. The outcome of his efforts in qualifying positioned his best lap against the clock in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 fourth quick overall for the night in Flight 2 behind David Gravel (11.235), Tanner Thorsen (11.321), and Rico Abreu (11.397). A good start to the night for Macedo and JJR crew. The Simpson Quick Time Award recipient though for the night at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park was Aaron Reutzel #87 who captured the lowest number on the clock at 10.608 seconds competing out of Flight 1.

Going fast when they are the only car on the track in time trials is one thing but getting up on the wheel in one of the four 10-lap Heat races poses a little more of a challenge. There are only five transfer spots available and ten talented racers willing to let it all hang out to earn one of those coveted spots in each race. The starting grids were established for the Heat races using each driver’s quickest time in time trials, which positioned Carson Macedo’s Scott Boyd Family/LogoDaddy/Jansen Transportation #41 Maxim on the outside of the front row alongside Tanner Thorson #88T in the fourth Heat race. They were followed by Cory Eliason #2KS and Scotty Milan #97 with Austin McCarl #88 and Ryan Timms #10 in row three. Hunter Schuerenberg #55 and Brady Bacon #21H were together in row four with Sterling Cling #34 and Brad Bowden #7C in the fifth and final row.
The first three Heat races were incredible, and this one was set to be equally impressive. The field was nose-to-tail in two lines. The signaler indicated the green flag would fly the next time by. The drivers were poised to stomp on the accelerator. Off turn four, the engines roared releasing the sound of power for the fans to rejoice in. Tanner Thorson powered into the lead with the driver of the Albaugh #41 staying right in his tracks.
With lap one in the books, there was racing for positions from the front of the pack to the back of the pack. Carson was closing and slid Thorson attempting to steal the lead. But Thorson would have none of it as he turned back under Macedo to reclaim the top spot. Carson would try again and again with the same results. He tried it in turns three and four. Then he shifted his strategy to try to take the lead away in turns one and two. These two talented racers were putting on one fabulous show worth twice the admission price.
On lap 7, Carson was able to stick a slider as he raced off turn four with the lead. While Macedo was scored the leader of that lap, Thorson stormed back by entering turn one low and cleanly sliding back up in front of the forty-one exiting turn two.
Tanner Thorsen would not be denied as he raced to the win over Carson Macedo with Cory Eliason, Scotty Milan, and Ryan Timms locking down the final three transfer spots out of this qualifying race. One of the best races of the season so far as Thorson and Macedo put on a show!
Carson earned his way back into the redraw for the 10-lap Toyota Dash where he would be the final driver to learn his fate. The three pill was drawn. Then the seven pill. Then many other ones leaving the two pill and the eight pill in the oversized NOS Energy Drink can for Logan Schuchart and Carson Macedo. All Carson could do is wait to see his fate. When Schuchart pulled the deuce out to start on the front row with Rico Abreu #24, Carson new he would start last with David Gravel #2 to his inside. Row two was made up of Aaron Reutzel #87 and Donny Schatz #15 with Tanner Thorson #88T and Bill Balog #17B alongside each other in row three. The driver of the Shark Racing #1s wasted no time taking the lead over Rico Abreu when the green flag dropped. Carson was on the move too as he picked up two laps on the first lap and was not done yet. The next time around he moved into the top five and was pedal down as he was chasing the prey. The next time around he moved into fourth and continued his pursuit. The laps ran out as Logan Schuchart dominated the Dash taking the win by 1.936 seconds over Rico Abreu. Aaron Reutzel raced home third with Carson Macedo racing the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 home fourth. Donny Schatz completed the top five with David Gravel, Bill Balog, and Tanner Thorson completing the finishing order.

With all the qualifying races now in the rearview mirror, the horn sounded to alert the twenty-four cars who earned a spot in the feature field for the finale of the Spring Classic to the track for the 40-lap money paying event. The crews of each race team finished their work before escorting their drivers up the ramp and onto the track for staging.
Carson would get the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Xtreme Body & Paint/Winters Performance Products #41 Maxim started from the outside of row four behind Logan Schuchart #1s and Rico Abreu #24. The drivers were poised to put on another good show for the faithful fans who came out to see these stars do their thing at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park.
After completing the four-wide salute to the fans, the drivers tucked back into the tradition two-by-two starting formation as the yellow lights turned off. When Schuchart and Abreu arrived at the chalk stripe laid across turn four they lowered their power feet and the race for the cash was on.
When the first lap was officially recorded it was Schuchart, Abreu, Schatz, and Macedo out front with everyone else chasing. It was high-speed calamity from the front of the pack to the back of the pack. Carson was up on the wheel and on the second circuit powered into turn three low and drifted up across the track moving into the runner-up position as he moved by the talented duo of Abreu and Schatz.
The racetrack was a little different than it was on Friday night and as the race went on the clean surface appeared to be taking on rubber. That would change the style of racing as every driver was going to get in line to search for the grip. That meant limited passing lanes.
The top five was Schuchart, Carson Macedo, Schatz, Abreu, and Reutzel at the halfway point of the race. In addition to the rubber down surface, the drivers up front also had to maneuver through the slower lap traffic who were also dealing with the same conditions and racing for their positions too.
Carson was able to move through cleanly as Schuchart was leading the way. When there were no lap cars between himself and Schuchart, Carson was able to close in on the leader. Reducing the space between himself and the leader is one thing, but making a pass on this type of surface is a different thing.
Logan Schuchart drove a masterful race to take the victory in the Spring Classic finale as he crossed the finish line just 0.509 seconds ahead of Carson driving his Albaugh – Your Alternative #41. Donny Schatz raced home third with Rico Abreu and Aaron Reutzel locking down the top five.
On the front straightaway after the conclusion of the race, Carson explained to Conner Wade, “Hats off to the Shark Racing team on getting the win. I thought our Albaugh #41 was really close again tonight. Right out of the gate we were pretty good. Philip Dietz, Robby McQuinn, and Adam Zimmerman, they did a great job. They really gave me a great car all weekend. For us to start eighth in the Dash and still run second in the Feature says a lot.” Indeed, it does. Another good run for Macedo and the forty-one!
