CALIFORNIA COOKING IN TEXAS: CARSON MACEDO MIXES UP A SPEED RECIPE IN THE FINALE OF THE COWTOWN CLASSIC DRIVING THE TARLTON AND SON #41 FORWARD TO AN 8TH PLACE FINISH AT KENNEDALE SPEEDWAY PARK
KENNEDALE, TEXAS (March 15, 2025) – After driving the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 Maxim to a third place finish during the opening night of the Cowtown Classic Friday evening, Carson Macedo was hungry for another opportunity to take on the quarter-mile bullring at Kennedale Speedway Park on Saturday night. Last year, on March 23, 2024, he led wire-to-wire to take the win and he was hoping to duplicate that type of success in the 2025 finale. Philip Dietz, Robby McQuinn, and Adam Zimmerman opened the back door of the trailer and rolled out the beautiful forty-one for the night of racing action. With another great field of cars on hand, the JJR #41 team was one of 39 race teams that were parked throughout the pit area at Kennedale Speedway Park for the finale of the Cowtown Classic. It was race day in Texas – World of Outlaws style!

The time trial order for Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying was set after the Eloy Gutierrez Pill Draw. Carson would be the 14th speed chauffeur to take the track in Flight 2 driving the Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Winters Performance Products/Smiley’s Racing Products #41 Maxim in an individual race against time. He lowered his right foot to call for speed. The Kistler Racing Engines power under the Prime Composite Innovations carbon fiber hood responded as Carson raced under the waving green flag to start his timed session. The numbers were moving fast, and so was the driver of the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41. When the Californian passed by the flagman to end his first lap, the clock recorded a time of 12.106 seconds. Carson still had work to do and was ready to immerse himself in the speed experience the next time around the track. He was digging off turn four as he headed towards the waving checkered flag. The official numbers for lap two posted at 12.130 seconds. The first lap was the better of his two attempts and positioned him sixth quick on the final speed charts in Flight 2. David Gravel stood on the gas in Flight 2 and locked in a lap at 11.924 seconds to earn the Simpson Quick Time Award for the night.
The starting grids for each of the four 10-lap heat races posted. Carson was slated to start third in the fourth Heat race aboard the Scott Boyd Family/CS Productions/Vortex Racing Products #41. Carson would be joined in row two by another talented racer, Hunter Schuerenberg #55, as both prepared to get up to speed. They lined up behind front row starters Giovanni Scelzi #18 and Conner Morrell #28. The remainder of the starting lineup was filled with talent starting in row three with Cory Eliason #2KS and Skylar Gee #99 with Roger Crockett #45X and Josh Schneiderman #49J in row four with Brett Becker #2B alone in row five.
Each row was perfectly arranged side-by-side ready to mash the gas coming off turn four. When the front row starters arrived the calmness and orderliness of the pace laps quickly converted to amplified, controlled chaos at speed. Conner Morrell drove around the outside of Giovanni Scelzi into the lead as Carson entered turn one low and slid up leaving enough room for Schuerenberg to slide underneath him and take over the show position. Conner Morrell muscled his way into the lead exiting the first set of turns with Scelzi, Schuerenberg, and Macedo giving chase close behind when the first lap was completed. Carson was working hard trying to claim a spot on the track as he and Schuerenberg were battling it out. Conner Morrell was on point and led start-to-finish to take the win over Giovanni Scelzi and Hunter Schuerenberg. Carson Macedo came home fourth in the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 with Cory Eliason securing the last transfer available position.

With a Texas sized crown on hand, the 30-lap Cowtown Classic feature finale was the only thing remaining from a high-speed entertainment perspective. These talented speed entertainers were eager to put on a show around the berms of Kennedale Speedway Park.
Carson really enjoys racing at these smaller facilities and typically performs very well in these environments, but he had some work to do. He would get the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Saldana Racing Products/Smith TI #41 Maxim rolling from the 16th starting spot beside Cody Gardner #6G.
The engines rumbled with anticipation. The drivers flipped down the shields on their helmets. The fans in the stands came to their feet as the front row of Sam Hafertepe Jr. #15H and Buddy Kofoid #83 stomped on the loud pedal to start the race with Logan Schuchart #1s and David Gravel #2 pushing the pace right behind them.
Sam Hafertepe Jr. led lap one with Logan Schuchart and Buddy Kofoid right behind in tow. Carson was scored in the 13th position as he was dueling for positions as he marched forward. Buddy Kofoid moved the Roth Enterprises #83 back by Logan Schuchart into the runner-up spot.
Carson continued to battle as he moved up the scoreboard. On lap 6, he moved into 12th place. Two laps later he moved up two more spots as he got by Hunter Schuerenberg #55 and Rees Moran #99M.
Up front on lap 10, Buddy Kofoid moved the eighty-three into the lead as he squeezed through lap traffic to get by Hafertepe.
Carson was still digging and on lap 16, he raced by Christopher Thram #24T into 9th place. Kofoid was still out front leading Hafertepe and Scelzi.
With less than 10 laps to go, Carson still had some work to do as he moved up another position, the eighth spot, moving by Anthony Macri #39M.
Buddy Kofoid was on a mission and he completed it as he raced to the win ahead of Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Giovanni Scelzi who rounded out the podium. Logan Schuchart and David Gravel completed the top five with Carson scored in the eighth position. A good run for the forty-one!
