CLOSING NIGHT IN OHIO: AFTER A NIGHT OF COMPETITION AT SHARON SPEEDWAY IN THE FEDERATED AUTO PARTS SHOWDOWN AT SHARON SPEEDWAY, CARSON DRIVES THE LIQUID TRUCKING #41 TO A 5TH PLACE FINISH

HARTFORD, OHIO (September 23, 2023) – With his fourth place finish on Friday night at Eldora Speedway in the books, Carson Macedo and the traveling tour of speed stars trekked from Northwest Ohio across the state to Northeast Ohio to race at Sharon Speedway in the Federated Auto Parts Showdown. It would be the final race of the 2023 season at the 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio to finish the track’s 94th anniversary season. Albeit very technical, this racetrack has produced some amazing racing in the past when “The Greatest Show on Dirt” visits, which keeps the fans on the edge of their seats and excited to come back to the box office to spend their hard earned money when the World of Outlaws visit town. There were 36 race team registered and parked throughout the pit area preparing to put on another great show for the fans. It was time for the curtain call in the Buckeye State.

The curtains were about to open to start the performance with a show of speed in Low-E Insulation Qualifying for each of the performers. The native of Lemoore, California climbed into his K1 Race Gear race suit before lining up off stage to wait for his turn on the track. Carson would be the second driver to hit the stage in the Liquid Trucking/Jansen Transportation/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads #41 Maxim for his two laps. With his Crow Enterprizes safety belts secured his ride was ready as the engine fired under the Indy Performance Composites (IPC) hood. The cool customer had the horses running when he raced under the waving green flag to start the clock. Carson meticulous hit his marks and completed his first lap in 15.012 seconds. He continued to execute his speed plan following his lines as he raced around Sharon Speedway. When he came off turn four he drown down across the track and stopped the clock after his second lap in 14.749 seconds and exited stage left while patiently waiting until the others completed their part. Carson fastest lap during his performance positioned him quickest overall to garner his WoO series leading 14th Simpson Quick Time Award of the season. It was his 33rd career quick time with the World of Outlaws.

Using each driver’s best time in time trials to assemble them into one of the four 8-lap heat races the WoO show coordinators posted the starting lineups. Carson would ride in the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Larry Davis Farms/High Performance Lubricants #41 Maxim from the pole position with David Gravel in the Billion Automotive #2. Logan Schuchart and A.J. Flick rolled behind the front row starters with Donny Schatz and Cole Duncan pacing from row three. Noah Gass, Danny Smith and Lee Jacobs were right behind ready to get going at Sharon Speedway.

The drivers in each row lined up side-by-side in perfect sync when they got the one-to-go signal as the show’s director displayed the rolled up white flag as they passed by the flagstand. When they came off turn four the next time by it was high speed chaos with the percussion of the engines as they backdrop. Carson and Gravel were side by side down the frontstretch with the forty-one entering turn one low with the driver of the two working the high side. David Gravel exited turn two with the lead on the top dominant track at this point and led the opening lap as he raced right in front of Carson as Cole Duncan and Logan Schuchart battled for position in the early podium mix. David Gravel had a fast ride and was working his way around the racy speed facility owned by the Blaney family with Carson comfortably in second. Gravel raced to a dominant victory by 1.965 seconds ahead of Carson with Cole Duncan, A.J. Flick, and Logan Schuchart securing the final three transfer spots to the A-Main out of the first heat race.

Making his way into his 41st Toyota Dash, Carson headed to the frontstretch to see if he had any luck hidden somewhere in his Albaugh – Your Alternative K1 Race Gear race suit. When he pulled the numbered pill the look on his face answered the question without words – no. He pulled the seven pill which ultimately put him back on the inside of row four with another Californian chauffeur, Justin Sanders, in the Macri Motorsports #39M. The WoO Series point leader Brad Sweet and Tanner Holmes sat on the front row with Sheldon Haudenschild and David Gravel in row two. Giovanni Scelzi and James McFadden were the occupants of row three as they readied themselves to take the green on the exceptionally slick track that was even more technical. The green flag was out with Sweet driving into the lead as David Gravel worked the outside line to move by Haudenschild and Holmes when they exited turn two. Carson was cruising back in the eighth position as he was stalking down Sanders. At the halfway point of the race he was there but could not make the pass. Brad Sweet would not be challenge as he took the win over Gravel and Holmes with Scelzi and McFadden completing the top five. Sheldon Haudenschild finished sixth with Sanders and Macedo completing the finishing order.

The starts of the World of Outlaws number on tour had put on quite an exciting show so far, but it was about to crescendo as the field made its way out on the track for the 30-lap Federated Auto Parts Showdown feature event. This was the money making portion of the World of Outlaws Playbill for the drivers and teams. It is what the fans had spent their hard earned money to see at the box office. It was time to go racing ‘Outlaw Style’ at Sharon Speedway!

Carson was peering through his Shifty Illusions custom painted Bell Racing helmet as he envisioned his early race moves and ultimate success. He was rolling around the surface in his eighth starting position in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Team Jack Foundation/T-FAB Custom Metal Fabrication #41 with Justin Sanders in the J&S Classics/Macri Motorsports #39M sharing the row with him. They were ready to go with Brad Sweet and David Gravel leading the field from row one.

No more auditioning. No more practice. It was time to perform in front of these eager patrons. The green flag was held high as polesitter Brad Sweet came off turn four hammer down. He would race the field around Sharon to lead lap one directly in front of David Gravel. Carson was looking to shine as he was up to seventh place with one lap in the books and looking for more. The next time around the driver of the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 moved into the sixth spot as he made his way by James McFadden. He was working the top side of the track and carrying his speed. Brad Sweet was still out front as Gravel and Scelzi were tussling for the runner-up position.

On lap 4, Carson caught up to fifth running Tanner Holmes and tried to get under him but could not make it stick. He was still running in the sixth position on lap ten with Sweet leading Scelzi, Gravel, Haudenschild and Holmes. The running order was not changing up front throughout the next ten laps, but there were races for position throughout the remainder of the field.

Tanner Holmes would move by Sheldon Haudenschild to take over the fourth spot as Carson quickly set his sights on a top five position as he was focused on the tail tank of the NOS Energy Drink #17. Brad Sweet had company as David Gravel and Giovanni Scelzi were all together with 5 laps to go. Sweet held the point with Gravel and Scelzi continuing their battle. Carson made his way by Sheldon to claim the fifth position with 3 laps to go.

Brad Sweet raced to the win ahead of David Gravel and Giovanni Scelzi with Tanner Holmes securing fourth. Carson Macedo raced home fifth aboard the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 Maxim. Another good performance to end the quick swing through the Buckeye State for Macedo and the forty-one! They will be back in action next Friday and Saturday night in Pennsylvania at Williams Grove Speedway for the 61st Annual Champion Racing Oil National Open.
