DOUBLE DUTY AT KNOXVILLE RACEWAY FOR THE STENHOUSE JR. RACING TEAM RESULTS IN A 10TH PLACE FINISH IN THE 360 DIVISION AND A 19TH PLACE FINISH IN THE 410 DIVISION

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (July 19, 2014) – After racing Friday night in Rapid City, South Dakota in ASCS National Tour competition, Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team became asphalt cowboys as they climbed in the hauler to make the 665 mile, 10-hour trek across I-90 East on their way to Knoxville Raceway for some Saturday night racing action on 3M Night at the track. The team was looking forward to doing double duty to get some more seat time in both cars in preparation for the Nationals that are coming up on the horizon in early August.

Jason would push off eleventh in the time trial order in the 360 Division in the Waco Metal/Fischer Body Shop #41 Maxim. He scooted around the big half mile in 16.782 seconds, which after all 34 cars completed their laps was good enough for 19th quick overall. When the qualifying heat race lineups were completed, he rolled onto the track in the third heat race and pulled on the outside of the front row with his teammate, Josh Baughman, to his left sitting on the pole. The two JJR teammates paced the field slowly and jumped on their respective loud pedals to bring the field down the front straightaway with their engines singing at full song. Baughman would take the lead with Jason and the Kenny’s Components forty one right behind. They would finish that way with Team JJR taking the first two spots with Calvin Landis, Bronson Maeschen, and Jamie Ball rounding out the top five. In the feature event, the Rocky Mount resident secured his Crow Enterprizes safety belts and pulled on his Oakley safety gloves in preparation for 18-laps of show time. Starting from the sixteenth starting spot, when the green lights lit up he went to work from the comfort of his ButlerBuilt Professional Seat System. He was making progress one car at a time as he raced around the black gumbo racing surface. When race winner, Dusty Zomer, crossed the finish line Jason was close behind in the tenth spot to round out the top ten on this night.

There was very little time to reflect as the Cajun chauffeur unbuckled and jumped over into the cockpit of his AccuDoc Solutions/Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) Maxim with the 410 Don Ott Racing Engine bolted under the hood. Earlier in the night he timed 23rd quick overall, out of 35 cars in total, with a fast lap of 16.047 seconds. He started on the pole of his heat race a led wire-to-wire to take the qualifying event win. For the feature event, he started on the inside of row ten and throughout the race was not able to make any forward progress, which resulted in a nineteenth place finish when the checkers were shown to the field.

Jason and the Stenhouse Jr. Racing team will take the lessons learned on this night at Knoxville Raceway and make every attempt to keep improving so they can have a great showing in a few weeks under the bright lights shining down on sprint car racing’s biggest annual event.
