SATURDAY ACTION AT THE BIG E: AFTER A FAST START ON NIGHT TWO AT ELDORA IN THE #LETSRACETWO FINALE THINGS SLOW DOWN AND THE HIGH PERFORMANCE LUBRICANTS #41 COMES HOME WITH A 13TH PLACE FINISH

ROSSBURG, OHIO (May 6, 2023) – After all of the excitement and speed the show produced on Friday night at Eldora Speedway, the race teams spent the day readying their cars for another night of competition at this famous high speed joint in Ohio. Carson drove the Albaugh – Your Alternative/High Performance Lubricants/Bandy & Associates #41 Maxim to a sixth place finish on Friday night. The JJR team woke up early Saturday hungry again for more action and an opportunity to produce more results for their fans and sponsorship partners. On a picturesque day in Ohio, Philip, Clyde, Nathan and Carson worked on their 410 cubic inch beast with smiles on their faces as they prepared for another night of competition. All of the competitors would get to show off their skills and speed as there were 41 WoO sprint cars back at the track registered and ready to race at Eldora Speedway on Saturday night. It was a beautiful day in the Buckeye State with temperatures were in the low to mid-70s and sprint cars, both winged and non-wing, at Eldora Speedway. A perfect day for some World of Outlaws and USCA racing in Ohio for the finale of #LetsRaceTwo!

There are a few places around the country that when they put on a sprint car show the talent just comes out to play and the fans follow. Eldora Speedway is one of those places and as your eye traces through the pit area you are not at a loss to see some of the best in the business ready to show off their talents. The field was stout again on Saturday night and the race officials again had to split the field in two equal groups for Low-E Insulation Qualifying. While the lineups are set by the luck of the pill draw, the two groups had talented racers throughout. Carson Macedo would be the 4th speed chauffeur out on the track for his two timed laps against the clock in Group A aboard the Border International/Larry Davis Farms/FK Rod Ends #41 Maxim. He would share the speedway with Brian Brown in two car qualifying. It was time to show off some speed Macedo style around Eldora Speedway! When Carson had the opportunity to gas it out on the track he took advantage of the time he had as he got up to speed. The air was flowing over the top of his Vortex Racing Products wings as his Hoosier Racing Tires dug into the clay racing surface. When he came out of turn four the green flag was presented overhead and he was looking to break the speed limit. He charged down the front straightaway and into turn one fearlessly. He hustled down the backstretch and through turns three and four and just like that in 12.844 seconds he completed his first lap. Carson wasn’t done though as he wanted to see if he could squeeze out any remaining juice that was left the next time around. He was working hard inside his office to run his part of the business. When the deal concluded, his second lap was slightly slower than the first one coming in at 12.852 seconds. The quicker of his two laps positioned the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) #41 quickest overall on the speed chart in Group A. David Gravel set quick time on Saturday night with an impressive lap of 12.714 seconds out of Group B.

The next part of the racing agenda for the night was the four 8-lap heat races. These competitions are fast and furious and it is important that you get off to a great start. Only the top five finishers advance to the feature event, so you have to muscle forward from the drop of the green flag until the black and white checkered cloth flies to end the race. This is one of Carson’s favorite places to race, so he was excited for the opportunity. He knew his JJR #41 teammates and crew made up Philip Dietz, Clyde Knipp and Nathan Repetz had his hot rod prepared for action, so he flipped down the shield of his green Shifty Illusions custom paint Bell Racing helmet to cover his game face. Carson would start the race from the pole position in the Team Jack Foundation/Factory Kahne Shocks/Walker Performance Filtration #41 Maxim with the Rico Abreu pacing beside him. Cory Eliason and Brian Brown were in row two with Robbie Price and Sye Lynch pacing from row three. Noah Gass, Chris Windom, Scotty Theil, J.J. Hickle, and Landon Myers filled in the remaining starting spots in the qualifying race.  The 11 car field of drivers patiently rolled in their starting formation with the right feet ready to drop. When they exited turn four the engines came alive as the field roared by the grandstands. When lap one was completed Carson was leading Rico Abreu and Cory Eliason. It was all-out speed chaos and these professional athletes were putting on a show for the fans in the stands. The forty-one was working the lower line with Abreu hustling on the top side. Macedo though started to gain traction and extend his lead with each completed lap. Carson’s lead over Abreu was 1.2 seconds when he took the white flag and he was digging. He would not look back and crossed the finish line first followed by Abreu, Eliason, Brown and Lynch. Those five drivers secured their spots in the feature finale with Macedo and Abreu getting a chance to race for their starting position in the dash.

You have to earn your spot on the stage for the 6-lap Toyota Dash by finishing first or second in your heat race. No easy task, but Carson Macedo, Logan Schuchart, David Gravel, Brad Sweet, Sheldon Haudenschild, Anthony Macri, Tyler Courtney, and Rico Abreu all did it on the final night of #LetsRaceTwo action at Eldora. Carson walked up on the stage first in his silver Albaugh – Your Alternative K1 Race Gear uniform and by the luck of the draw selected the lowest pill to start from the pole position. He would start along an Eldora fan favorite and the always fun to watch Sheldon Haudenschild. Row two found Rico Abreu and Tyler Courtney with row three being filled by Friday night’s winner Logan Schuchart and Anthony Macri. The fourth and final row was made up of David Gravel and Brad Sweet. They were set to go and the Eldora pace truck pulled off as they headed into turn three slowly. When they exited turn four the air was filled with power from their engines as Haudenschild slid Macedo for the lead before Carson returned the favor to retake the lead. But Haudenschild wasn’t going anywhere and cleanly slid the forty-one driver again to regain the top spot. Carson was now battling with Abreu to maintain the runner-up position. The two talented racers were racing cleanly for the position before Abreu took the spot with 2 laps to go. Sheldon Haudenschild raced to the win to earn the pole in the feature as he was followed across the finish line by Abreu and Macedo with Courtney, Sweet, Macri, Gravel and Schuchart completing the dash finishing order.

With the 24 car field set for Saturday night’s 30-lap NOS Energy Drink #LetsRaceTwo feature finale it was time to get the high speed affair started at Eldora Speedway! Sheldon Haudenschild and Rico Abreu would lead the impressive field of stars to the green flag with Carson getting up on the wheel in the Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT)/Winters Performance Products/C&R Racing #41 from his third starting spot as WoO Announcer and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Johnny Gibson exclaimed, “The Cars and Stars of The Greatest Show on Dirt” were prepared to put on a show!

On the initial start, Abreu blasted into the lead over Haudenschild and Macedo but before a lap could be completed the yellow was displayed as Robbie Price’s #7s was sitting up against the wall in turn four with damage. It would be a complete restart but Abreu would again take the lead over Haudenschild and Macedo. Carson was running behind the front two but extremely busy trying to fend off the challenges for the show position from Tyler Courtney who had a really fast NOS Energy Drink #7BC. Courtney would make the pass on Macedo who was now dealing with the hard-charging David Gravel who raced by too relegating the forty-one to the fifth position.

With 6 laps in the books the racing action was again slowed as Friday night’s race winner, Logan Schuchart, shredded a right rear tire and got into the wall hard in his Drydene #1s ending his night early. When they got back going it was Abreu, Haudenschild, Courtney, Gravel, Macedo and Schatz in the top three rows. When the field got back up to speed Carson got shuffled back to tenth in the running order. Abreu was still showing the way and on lap 11 the yellow was again out this time for Sheldon Haudenschild who also shredded a right rear tire as he exited turn four. The yellow was converted to an open red which allows the crews to work on their cars and top them off with fuel.

 The horns sounded and when they went back racing Rico Abreu was having fun at the front as he led Donny Schatz, David Gravel, Brian Brown and Spencer Bayston. By the midway point of the race Carson was running in the 12th position. Rico Abreu was fast but was now battling with Donny Schatz for the lead. Schatz made the pass, but Abreu scooted right back by to regain the lead.

Carson was mid-pack and battling with everything he had to maintain his position on the scoreboard. The laps were running out when the white flag was shown to the leader Rico Abreu. Abreu went on to win his third WoO race of the season with Donny Schatz coming home second, David Gravel third with Brian Brown and Justin Peck completing the top five. Carson Macedo held on to salvage a 13th place finish on the night in the Albaugh #41. While not the finish the driver and boys were looking for they will take the lessons learned over the past two nights and apply them when they return in mid-July.
