FOLLOWING THE DIRT AND DUST ROAD: ANOTHER STRONG NIGHT AT THE 2022 EDITION OF THE WORLD FINALS AS CARSON MACEDO COMPETES HARD AGAIN TO EARN A TOP TEN FINISH AT THE DIRT TRACK AT CHARLOTTE

CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA (November 4, 2022) – The 2022 edition of the World Finals kicked off on Wednesday evening at The Dirt Track at Charlotte and saw Carson Macedo lead the first 28 laps as he drove the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 from the pole position ultimately finishing in the runner-up position to Logan Schuchart after his nozzle line got knocked off with 2 laps to go. He earned 146 points for his work effort on Wednesday. The Lemoore, California native and his JJR teammates were looking to continue their run forward on Friday night to add to their point total when the talented field of sprint car stars all returned to the track for the second night of competitive action for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. With the haulers parked and lined up outside the perimeter of turns one and two behind the billboards, the 52 entries were anxious to get the night started so they could entertain the fans of the sport in this racing town World of Outlaws style. Philip Dietz, Clyde Knipp and Nate Repetz rolled the forty-one out of the trailer and went to work to make the speed machine fast for their driver.

A complete new show lineup revealed that Carson would be the fifth speed athlete out in Group B for his two laps at speed in My Place Hotels Qualifying. After hot laps concluded, Carson patiently waited for his turn to stomp the loud pedal and wheel around The Dirt Track at Charlotte’s 4/10-mile oval aboard the Border International/WELD Racing/Xtreme Body and Paint #41 Maxim entry. He climbed into his Fibreworks Composites seat and buckled into his Crow Enterprizes safety belts. After securing the chin strap on his Bell Racing helmet he pulled on his K1 Race Gear Flight brand gloves and was ready to get after it – sprint car style! Carson sped towards the waving green flag with his right foot planted and his elbows up. The car jumped out of gear so the yellow flew. He re-fired the engine and headed back towards the green. He was making tracks and not looking back as he strategically maneuvered his Maxim Racing chassis around the racing surface. When he raced through the timing stripe to complete lap one the clock read 12.970 seconds. He stayed hammer down looking to find anything he may have left out there the lap before and this time turned his final lap in 12.786 seconds. The better of his two circuits was third quick in Group B. Laying down the best lap of the night in time trials though was Spencer Bayston who made his way around the oval in 12.645 seconds in Group A.

When the lineups were posted for the four 8-lap heat races, after an engine change the Premium Coach Group/High Performance Lubricants/FK Rod Ends #41 with Carson Macedo behind the wheel would get started from the outside of the front row with Cory Eliason pacing from the pole in the Indy Race Parts #71. James McFadden and Brock Zearfoss followed in row two with Tyler Courtney and Sheldon Haudenschild in row three as Zeb Wise, Skylar Gee, Kraig Kinser, and Rile Goodno completing the starting grid. The first two finishers in all of the heat races would advance on to the dash with positions three through five transferring into the feature lineup in rows 5 through 10. The green flag flew and Carson drove the Albaugh – Your Alternative #41 into turn one chasing Cory Eliason with Brock Zearfoss dipping low through the turn chasing the top two. The top three would stay in that order from green-to-checkers, but Tyler Courtney was hustling in the NOS Energy Drink #7bc as he rolled past James McFadden into the fourth position. Cory Eliason took the win over Carson Macedo and Brock Zearfoss as Courtney and McFadden completed the top five.

Earning his way into the 6-lap DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash for the 39th time this season, Carson climbed into his office looking to earn his starting spot in the first four rows of the feature. Donny Schatz and Brad Sweet would lead the field from the front row as Columbia, Missouri’s Garet Williamson joined Carson in row two. Spencer Bayston and Anthony Macri would get rolling from row three with Cory Eliason and Cole Macedo right behind in the fourth and final row. When the green lights illuminated, Donny Schatz took the lead over Brad Sweet with Anthony Macri driving into the show position ahead of Carson Macedo’s Tarlton and Son/Liquid Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution #41. Schatz was fast at the front of the pack and led the entire distance to take the win over Sweet and Macri with Carson bringing the JJR #41 home fourth and Williamson rounding out the top five. Cole Macedo came home sixth, Spencer Bayston was scored seventh and Cory Eliason finished eighth after he had engine issues.

The air horns sounded summoning the cars to the track for Friday night’s 30-lap preliminary feature at the World Finals. Two champions, Donny Schatz and Brad Sweet, would sit on the front row with Anthony Macri and Carson Macedo right behind aboard the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Maxim Racing/Wilwood Racing #41. The field was showing their appreciation to the fans with their traditional four-wide salute with the pyrotechnics blasting overhead. It was time to go racing at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in the second preliminary night of action for the sprint cars. The cars rearranged themselves in their two-by-two starting formation as they worked their way to the green flag in front of the packed grandstands. Brad Sweet led the first lap with Donny Schatz close behind. Anthony Macri and Carson Macedo were battling hard for position. Macri would claim the show position as Carson Macedo got shuffled back in the running order when his brother Cole Macedo and Spencer Bayston raced underneath him for track position. On lap 4, the caution flag flew for Wednesday night’s winner Logan Schuchart who slowed with engine troubles. The running order at the front was Brad Sweet, Donny Schatz, Anthony Macri, Cole Macedo, and Spencer Bayston with Carson Macedo restarting from the sixth position. When the engines roared again it was Sweet maintaining the lead down the frontstretch over Schatz as Cole Macedo raced under Macri in turn one. The two young drivers made contact sending Macri spinning up the track narrowly missing the other Macedo (Carson) as the forty-one driver drove between the #39 and the wall to clear the accident. Garet Williamson was not as lucky as he made hard contact with Macri causing him to flip and collect Zeb Wise and Cale Thomas. The red flag was displayed while the track crew cleared the scene. It would be a single file restart with Sweet leading Schatz back to the green followed by Cole Macedo, Spencer Bayston and Carson Macedo. Schatz would wrestle the lead away from Sweet as he powered the TSR #15 to the front. He was in control as Carson was in a fierce battle for position with Giovanni Scelzi and Tyler Courtney for positions seven through none. With 2 laps to go the final yellow flag of the night was displayed, this time for Noah Gass, erasing Donny Schatz’s 1.2 second lead over Brad Sweet. Carson would restart from the eighth spot for the green-white-checkers run to the finish. Donny Schatz would not be denied as he took the win over Cory Eliason and Brad Sweet with Cole Macedo bring the ALLY #55 home fourth and Tyler Courtney rounding out the top five. Giovanni Scelzi earned a sixth place finish with Justin Peck, Spencer Bayston, Carson Macedo and David Gravel rounding out the top ten. Another good run for the forty-one!

After finishing in 9th place when the checkered flag flew, Carson earned another 132 points bringing his total to 278 points after the first two preliminary nights of action were it the books. That total positioned him second overall in the field and would put him on the pole of the second heat race on Saturday night.
