SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER JOKER: THE CALIFORNIA SPEEDSTER DRIVES THE TARLTON AND SON #41 MAXIM TO A RUNNER-UP FINISH IN THE 6TH ANNUAL JOKERS WILD AT ELDORA SPEEDWAY

ROSSBURG, OHIO (July 13, 2022) – Carson Macedo and his fellow World of Outlaws traveling tour of stars returned to Eldora Speedway for this first time this season on Wednesday night to kick off Kings Royal week after both of the #LETSRACETWO races scheduled in early May were washed out by Mother Nature. The best-of-the-best in sprint car racing were represented here and ready to brave the high banks of the famous Eldora Speedway at speed. The half-mile oval has just the right amount of banking and is usually prepped to provide multiple racing lanes to produce some amazing racing action. On this night, the pit area was filled with winged sprint cars on a beautiful evening after a passing rain shower with the excitement being palpable in the air all around the arena of speed. There were 55 410 sprint car teams signed in at the pit gate and ready to put on a show for the fans in the stands in the 6th Annual Jokers Wild.

The qualifying order for My Place Hotels Qualifying was set as the field was split into two qualifying groups. There would be two cars on the track at the same time to record their laps. Carson Macedo was scheduled to be the tenth driver out on the track in Group B aboard the Tarlton and Son/Durst/BR Motorsports #41 Maxim along with Bill Balog. He buckled into his Crow Enterprizes safety belts giving them one last pull to secure himself inside his open air office. Carson flipped down the shield of his Shifty Illusions custom painted Bell Racing helmet as his Kistler Engines power came to life. He raced down the backstretch and through the last set of turns as he headed to the waving green flag to start the clock. He darted through the first set of turns before navigating the next set. When he crossed the timing stripe following the first lap, the time on the clock read 13.056 seconds. He stayed active and laser focused to see if he could find any more speed aboard the Albaugh #41 the next time around. Carson was very consistent as the second time around he recorded a lap in 13.094 seconds which was slightly slower. The better of his two laps ended up being fourth quick overall in Group B, with Justin Peck earning the fastest time in that group with a lap of 12.967 seconds. Always a great timer, David Gravel established the quickest lap of the night out of Group A at 12.869 seconds.

There were four 8-lap heat races on the schedule this evening with the competitors being aligned systematically by their quickest lap times in time trials. That put Carson Macedo and the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Weld Racing/Xtreme Body and Paint #41 on the outside of the front row beside polesitter Rico Abreu. Aaron Reutzel and Kasey Kahne rolled behind them in row two with Cap Henry, Brock Zearfoss, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Kraig Kinser, Cale Thomas, TJ Stutts and Cole Macedo rounding out the starters in the field. The rolled slowly up to the chalk stripe in turn four and Carson dropped his right foot as his Kistler Engines power catapulted him into the lead over Abreu by the time they arrived at turn one. Kasey Kahne followed the forty-one to the front as he moved into the runner-up position. Carson Macedo never looked back as the event went green-to-checkers and the Lemoore, California native led from the drop of the green flag to the falling of the checkers to take the heat race victory over Kahne and Abreu with Brock Zearfoss coming home fourth and Aaron Reutzel securing the fifth and final transfer position.  

For the 6-lap DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash, Carson brought a celebrity picker to the stage with him in none other than Peyton Dyson all the way from Australia with her awesome family from Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions. When she pulled her hand out of the oversized NOS Energy Drink can she held the ‘3’ pill, which put Carson Macedo on the inside of row with David Gravel to his outside to start the dash. Kasey Kahne sat on the pole with Justin Peck sharing row one with him. Giovanni Scelzi and Brian Brown were in row three with Danny Dietrich and Ayrton Gennetten. At the start of the race it was Peck to the top spot with Gravel using the outside line to drive into second place ahead of Kahne. Carson got shuffled back to fifth in the Liquid Trucking/AutoMeter/RaceDiecast.com #41 as Brian Brown scooted past in his Casey’s General Stores #21. The race went non-stop with Justin Peck taking the win over David Gravel and Brian Brown. Kasey Kahne maintained the fourth position as Carson finished fifth ahead of Dietrich, Scelzi and Gennetten.

With the pyrotechnics show lighting up the backstretch, it was time for the 25-lap 6th Annual Jokers Wild feature event. When all of the pomp and circumstance was behind them, it was time to go racing at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway! After the initial start was called off with a quick yellow flag for Kerry Madsen who slowed, David Gravel wasted no time taking control of the lead when the green flag dropped again aboard his Big Game Motorsports #2. David Gravel was fast and had a determined Brian Brown chasing him from the runner-up position. Through the first 9 laps of the race, Carson was wheeling the Albaugh – Your Alternative/Winters Performance Products/Motor State Distributing #41 Maxim from the fourth position. But on lap 10, he moved around Justin Peck by driving hard in on the bottom entering turn three and earning the spot when the two talented drivers exited turn four. Carson then stayed focused and used his speed to carry him closer to Brian Brown over the next seven laps. He caught him and made the pass for the runner-up position on lap 17. Gravel had built a sizable lead and was maneuvering cleanly through the slower lapped traffic. Carson was able to close the gap a bit, but with 5 laps to go the yellow lights started to flicker around the track for Jacob Allen who headed pit side. Gravel’s lead was now eliminated with Macedo on his tail for a single file restart. Gravel got a good start and quickly put some distance between himself and the Albaugh #41 of Macedo. Carson was battling with Brown when another late race caution flag flew for Danny Dietrich who was off the pace on the front straightaway. Carson had one last shot at David Gravel, but on this night Gravel was too good and collected the win over Macedo and Brown with Justin Peck and Kasey Kahne rounding out the top five. Another good run for the forty-one team to start the week at Eldora.
